Cat Litter; Light weight

I was a bit sceptical but purchased Purina's new light weight cat litter. So far, I'm pleasantly surprised and my two fluff bottoms like it. The large size pail is very easy to carry and scooping the boxes is much less of a chore. It doesn't seem any dustier than the other litters. It comes in regular of scoopable. It seems like a good product all around. Has anyone else tried it?

Yes, my guys are quite happy with it and I am very glad. I am fairly certain that carrying the big bags on my shoulder from the car into the house is partly responsible for my rotator cuff issues. Ideal for us as we get holder and can't manage heavy lifting.

I tried it and liked it but have since switched to President's Choice Silica Crystals. They are super light weight (blue). I can carry a small bag with one finger. They cost $6.00 for a bag that lasts 1 week for two cats. No odour and the cats love the sound so they do a good job of scratching up a storm without any dust at all. (I hate dust). 1089

Wow, that's a significant cost. When I had cats I always went for the cheapest brand X.

Trotsky the cheap brand makes so much dust. Makes me cough. I don't want it in my lungs. I don't put a price tag on my health. Thank you for pointing this out to me. Maybe I could use 1/2 and 1/2.

You use very little at a time if you use a good clumping brand. I used to always buy the cheapest and it went a lot faster with more dust, etc.

I will have to look into the lighter stuff when I am back in Sooke.
Mozzy is extremely fussy about his litter box, a full clean everyday makes me consider cost. Less dust would be nice.
It was always a challenge in China finding something for him to use, we usually raided sand piles put out for construction.

I do that when I need to repot a succulent. It's easy for me these days since they are building a subway down the street. There is always a sand pile nearby.
I once asked a workman if I could have some because it was behind a fence he said "Take the whole f'cking pile." laugh123

Dusty, oh yeah, but the worst thing about kitty litter is coming into the bathroom at 3AM barefoot and walking over the gravel. And THEN you have to clean your feet before getting into bed...all without killing a good night's sleep.

Olive would you please tell me the brand name that you use. I am always open for advice to improve.

Mouse, it's the Purina Brand, clumping style. They also make the non clumping variety.

Olive, thank you very much. I am going to try it. I will use a smaller amount as you suggested.

I am now back to buying the lightweight stuff. It is the best, but my gosh it is expensive. $11.98 for one. I think I can stretch it for two weeks. Less dust.....and guess what, my cats have stopped sneezing. I am so happy about that.
