Just remember, when there are no more jobs, and everyone is unemployed, and everyone knows this and gives up looking, the unemployment rate will fall to ZERO: that's the way it is set up. When you are unemployed long enough you cease to be counted in the Unemployment Rate. It is a completely meaningless number. Edited by Trotsky, Feb 6 2016, 09:18 AM.

Things are looking up here, though! We are producing Bradley armored vehicles for Saudi Arabia, like they are going out of style. Much the same story for the drones that we are building for the U.S. military and now we will be building the shell and wings for the German Dornier seaplane. All this, due to ISIS activity! Gotta love them guys! |

There used to be many families without jobs but at least now some are getting jobs, most in the area of manufacturing. Many are also involved in the manufacturing of windmills and the required components as well as the construction and installation process. |

In Kingston there are not many jobs unless a job seeker wants to only work part time in retail at minimum wage or was smart enough to enter a higher education field in health, justice (cannot recall the correct term) or administration. There is work, just not enough to support a family. My SIL works at a bakery, my D is still looking for work but had to severely pare her resume back to even get her foot in the door. She is at the point of taking anything right now. A waste of education? I hope not. |

One friend has a granddaughter that took a job serving in a bar. First night she made $180 in tips alone. She previously had a job in her field of education but quit after having to work long hours with no extra pay and a lot of crap from the boss, she was in a predominantly male held field. |

Hm, I had not thought to suggest bartending/serving. I doubt my D would want to for a few reasons so she would have to weigh the pros and cons. She does not drink, never goes to bars, (no experience with drunken patrons) and has tremors in her hands. However, I am going to suggest it. |
