As requested. First 2 are especially for Angora. Taken last fall. Posted Image This was at a nursery. It was a long hot summer and fall here last year. Posted Image Hummingbirds have stepped up their use of syrup lately as they get ready for mating and nesting. Only the females sit and rear the young. One of the handsome fellows. Last week. Posted Image This is likely the same fellow as he owns the front yard where he is taking shelter from the only snow we have seen on this coast, so far, this winter. January 5th. Posted Image The females nest where it is quiet and there are not so many males hanging around as here but they do come in to drink regularly as well as to take bits of Roland's fur for their nests. The dogs are not called 'soft coat' for nothing. Grand daughter and I save Roland's fur to put in a cage for the birds. Of the 2 females in the yard one day last week one had what looks like a strand of dog fur stuck to her beak. She will need to bathe in the back yard fountain to get unstuck. Posted Image |

One needs a camera that can be focused manually. Any time I try to use the auto focus it just cannot pick out the wee birds. Posted Image This one is reaching right in to get to the low level of syrup. Posted Image Here's where the fur comes from. Roland the chihuahua is standing fast against a wind at the beach on a seaweed gathering expedition. Posted Image I'm still getting out on the bike once in a while. One side of the road. Posted Image And the other side of the road which is why I stopped to get a shot of winter colour. A yellow willow, red alder and maple trees. Posted Image Hey Kahu! We have a sheep or two over here as well. Posted Image Edited by Dana, Feb 15 2016, 04:45 PM.

Stunning shots! I will be glad to check on the hummingbirds that live in my neighbourhood. Having been gone since Nov, as have my neighbours from across the street, I can only hope my D remembered the birds and changed their feeder on a regular basis. The ones we get seem to stick around 2-3 houses. We only have six houses in our block, not sure if all of them have bird feeders, hummingbird or others. We put out both. |

Thanks for the crows, Dana. The hummers are so beautiful and you have a real touch with them. Your dog made me smile. He/she looks pissed. :) |
