Margrace: Sounds like every three months, the doctor requisition a fasting blood test to monitor your husband's cholesterol count. I have been a type 2 diabetic for over 50 years. After trying to control my sugars by diet/exercise and pills, I went on insulin 15 years ago. My numbers are much better and I found injecting insulin is not as horrendous as previously thought. |

Yes Trotsky. In diabetes 2, although the body is producing insulin still, the body is not using it effectively. So that is the reason for starting treatment with metformin, the drug that helps the body to use the insulin it is producing. So it goes well for a time until the body starts to produce less insulin and insulin from an outside source is needed. Thus the needle. Diabetes 1 is when the body produces no insulin at all. That is basically the difference. |

This is not true. Also the sugar processed is better certainly in the potatoes and maybe the flour than a whole cup of the real crystalline sugar. Speed at which the sugar is body processed plays a part. Crystal sugar is almost like main lining heron. Almost an instant spike in blood sugar with all the adverse ramifications. |

I suppose flour and bread be considered the "staff of life" for the first people of Canada (not sure about USA), I just do not know if it was. That is why I was thinking I should do some research for my own interest. According to anthropologists, and other researchers, salmon was a major staple on the west coast of BC. When winter came the people would eat dried fish plus other foods they would have prepared for colder weather. |
