Hi Trotsky,

Since you are an experienced bum washer. oooh 02 would you mind advising me how to clean my big girl's bum? Keeping in mind I cannot lift her and she won't let me touch her for very long. In the picture I am not lifting her, I just stood her up.

At the moment I am using baby wipes (with medical gloves of course), but I can't get it all. Would it be safe to put shampoo on there? I didn't want her to get an infection from soap.

Thanks in advance.

I am not one to recommend given that I gave up the cat in frustration.
But what we did was to put her in a shower with Bob holding her down as best as you can hold a bowl of furious Jello.
I used a cheapy sprayer and hose attached to the tub faucet, Dollar store variety, held up her tail and sprayed her rear end clean being careful not to get the rest of her too wet. Then I towellled her off. We could get in done in 5 minute, but it was so streeful to us and probably to her, screeching all the while, that after about a year of this aggravation, I finally threw in the towel and sent her away.

I vaguely remember starting the spray process with an enema/douche bag, but that didn't provide enough water pressure to spray her clean.

Funny, she made it YEARS with being able to clean herself and then just stopped. Perhaps FAS (Feline Alzheimer Syndrome) if such a thing exists.
<The whole conversation is beginning to turn my stomach with memories.>

Sorry Trotsky, I didn't mean to put you through all that. I was just hoping you could advise me how I might do it, since neither of us can lift her to get her into the shower.

I guess I could buy one of those hoses you are talking about and get a big litter box near the tub and hold her in there with a towel while spraying. I get tired just thinking about it.
Last night her second fang fell out. I wouldn't be surprised is she is maybe a very old cat.
Could be alzheimer's, she sure acts like it.

I run a long term care facility for cats I guess.....

Trotsky,

"a bowl of furious jelly" what an incredibly apt description. Do you write this stuff down? Maybe you should do a blog like David's.

I agree, Trotsky has a way with words. He should be writing a book.
