It looks like the wine stores in Metro are wanting to keep their business. Was there to buy meat for stew, and needed some white wine for my fish tonight. I picked up a bottle of Peller Estates French Cross, sauvignon blanc for $6.45. I can live with that. |

We have a large wine store in the shopping area near us, (Everything Wine and More) thousands of selections. We wait for their weekly sales, and this week they had a US red wine called Copper Ridge on for $5.99, and if you buy 12 or more bottles you get 10% off. I bought a bottle on Saturday to try it out, my wife thought it was great, quite light and smooth. Went back on Sunday and bought a case, works out to about $5.75 a bottle with GST and deposit, can't go too far wrong. Our favourite is Jackson Triggs Merlot or Malbec, when it comes on sale we stock up. |

I bought copper moon at Sobeys. I met a lady that was purchasing 6 bottle. She works for a golf club and said this was their house wine. I quite enjoyed it, think it was on sale for 7.99 per bottle. If you purchase 6 at Sobeys you get 10% off. |

We have copper moon as our alternative house wine. Our DIL buys it by the box, her favorite. |

Poor me, I only have a glass of concord grape juice canned in the Summer. http://www.durgan.org/2015/September%202015/16%20September%202015%20Concord%20Grape%20Harvest/HTML/ 16 September 2015 Concord Grape Harvest The concord grapes from my one plant were harvested. Twenty five pounds of quality grapes were obtained. There was no bird damage, no cob webs and no mold or dead grapes. The brix reading was 13. The grapes were removed from the substrate on a mesh screen, cooked and blended into a slurry. The slurry was strained through a food mill, mesh 2mm. Two pounds of grapes were used for each liter of juice This makes a strong rich tasting juice and is of a texture suitable for drinking. Posted Image |

The Copper Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon is actually quite a pleasant wine, it was originally blended as a restaurant house/patio wine. It is light and I can detect a hint of cherries, so it would be great for drinking on the back deck, and for when company comes for a social glass or two. I personally prefer a drier wine with a bit more body, but I usually drink light beer in social gatherings and like a glass (or 2) of dry red wine with the evening meal on occasion. Durgan, your grapes look like they would be great fermented. Making wine is easy and a small batch might be beneficial for your heart and soul. laugh123 |

Grape juice has all the touted benefits of wine without addling the rain. |

At 83 my husband has stopped making wine at home. Tpdau we filtered and bottled the last two batches -- Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. Much of this on our wine shelves will be taken to our grandson's wedding in June. Posted Image |

Lilal, your wine rack looks a lot like mine a while back. After 23 years of making wine, I quit making it last fall mostly due to Costco not selling our favourite kits here anymore. I'm getting a little long in the tooth, so it was about time anyway, so sold all my equipment on Kijiji for a good price in about 2 hrs. Over the 23 years, I averaged about 10 kits a year, giving lots away to family and friends, used it for camping, parties, neighbourhood gatherings, BBQs, and whenever wine was necessary. When I did the math of how much I made over the years, the numbers seemed almost unreal. Each kit makes 30 bottles of wine, so I'll let you do the math.
