I'm on a rant ~ our daughter who spends her life planning her next trip, just texted her dad, yes her dad, as he's EASY! It's their 10th anniversary in May, she's booked four days in Vancouver, on the assumption we will kid and dog sit. Am I wrong to think she should've consulted with us first? We have nothing planned but what if we did?? In her mind and she has a point, our lives have been focused on her brother with all his issues and she feels slighted! It would not be any different if it were her with the issues. She's 44 get over it! |

Swing I hear you loud and clear. I think ask first before you book. I would be ticked too as it is you who has to shoulder most of the labour I presume. Lucky I my grands are all adults and my great grands are in Vancouver. They are old enough that I might enjoy having them around. |

I know what you are saying swing, they seem to take us for granted. We have to learn how to say NO once in a while, but it is hard. |

Swing, if fate dictates I will be in your fair city in September for my niece's wedding, ten up to Ft. Mc. and on to the badlands area before heading to BC.

I am a poor one to ask because I am so often in that position. It seldom bothers me. Must say this month though it is changing my plans as my daughter is away 18 days this month - half business and half pleasure as well as the first two in April. In April, due to a couple of appointments I have, there is only one week where I can eke out two or three days to go north and visit friends. The older I get the less things bother me. It is unfortunate Harley had his surgery at this particular time what with snow and he has to be kept quiet - no stairs, no jumping up onto the bed and off, etc. And then there is Montana who needs to go out more often these days, and Harley cannot go out unleashed. Yesterday I was so bushed I had a pb and jam sandwich for supper. Just too tuckered out to cook. :sigh: Take care, Pat |

As we get older..... we need to remember that if we don't look after ourselves first we will not be around to look after everything and everyone else. You need to "Take Care" of Pat. Just reminding. |

:sigh: I hope if I get in this state, I have enough sense to put the animals in a rescue organization where they can be better looked after. Quote Fuzzy: you might consider giving her up to a rescue organisation who are better able to care for her. I believe Fuzzy knows what she is talking about as she has pets too. :MapleLeaf: Edited by Kahu, Mar 3 2016, 10:15 AM.

I bed your pardon ...... what are you talking about. In what state is that pray tell? It is likely because I have been so active; not to mention fortunate health wise, that I can do what I can. Please do not type in bold to me. Take care, Pat |

You are burning yourself out. I burned myself out when I looked after my mother before her death, it happens before you realize what is happening. Talk to FuzzyO on this forum, she will help you. |

Darcie .... I do take care of myself believe me. What works for one would perhaps not work for another. I have always been active, and as I have said so far I appreciate I am able to do what I do. The reason I was so pooped yesterday is I am not accustomed to sitting around doing nothing which is pretty much what I did as Harley has to be kept quiet post surgery. Beginning tomorrow he can have three 5 minute walks. We are all different. I was out shoveling at 5:30 this morning. Why? Because I love to shovel snow and have done so all my life. When the day comes I can no longer do it, I will surely miss it. Plus while there was lots of it, is was fluffy snow. Take care, Pat |

You could put a notice up at the grocery store or the high school, to try to get some young people to shovel for you. They would probably do it for a 10 dollar bill wub |
