WAR HORSES Absolutely Beautiful! Too magnificent not to send on. You'll love the music as well, beautifully played. These horses were originally bred as "war horses" in the days of knights and armor. As armor got heavier, bigger horses were needed and the Friesian almost became extinct. They are back and are one of the most beautiful horses in stature as well as gait. What gorgeous animals! Just watching them becomes an emotional experience. Can you imagine what it would be like to ride one? Their manes and tails are the longest that I have ever seen and I noticed that when performing on grass, their hoofs do not kick up a divot, as they land flat footed. Creatures such as these are what makes this world so special. These horses are native to the Netherlands . Please ensure to have your audio on. http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Y5XJbSqwriM?rel=0 The scenery is fantastic as well. Take care, Pat |

NZ's own War Horse story The plot of the 2011 hit movie Warhorse, where a horse is reunited with his much loved owner on a WW1 French battlefield, has been called farfetched by some critics. Yet a similar incident did occur on the desert battlefields of the Middle East. The similarities with the fictional story are uncanny, yet it seems unlikely that the original Warhorse author, Englishman Michael Morpurgo, would ever have come across the story of a Kiwi farmer from the East Cape, and his chestnut mare Star. Trooper Pynson Mossman of the Wellington Mounted Rifles was reunited in the midst of a desperate battle on the River Jordan, with the beloved mare he had last seen three years earlier at home in Tiniroto, Gisborne. My grandfather so loved horses I wish he were here to see this video. In Europe his family raised Clysdales... When they moved to Canada after years of working hard he bought another farm , he again had his beloved Clysdales. |

Looking for a Unique Experience? How About a Trip to Nowhere? Erewhon Station is a picturesque 35000 acre sheep & beef property nestled right amongst the Southern Alps of NZ. This Country provided a magnificent backdrop for the Lord of the Rings movie “The Two Towers”. Edoras, the capital of Rohan, was located on Mt Sunday at neighbouring Mt Potts Station. Clydesdales on Erewhon Station Erewhon is a palindrome for Nowhere ... which was the name of Samuel Butler's station in early NZ in his book 'Erewhon - the way of all flesh' Samuel Butler and the Way of all flesh “Never shall I forget the utter loneliness of the prospect – only the little far away homestead giving sign of human handiwork, the vastness of mountain and plain, of river and sky; the marvelous atmospheric affects – sometimes black mountains against a white sky, and then again, after cold weather, white mountains against a black sky.” Rather a lonely prospect that Samuel Butler described in his classic novel Erewhon.
