Carrots are a staple ingredient in most kitchens. They can be used as main or a side, served sweet or savoury, and taste good raw or cooked.

Although carrots are available year-round, they are considered their best between mid-May through September, BBC Good Food reports.

Here everything has doubled in price but the most aggravating in our area is that we have an Independent store 35Ks away this is a loblaws store. We have a Value-Mart in our little village where a lot of seniors live. This too is a loblaws store but in an area where a lot of seniors don't drive the can charge 3 times as much for the same itim as the big store further away.

Thankfully we are now getting a bus service one a week to take seniors to the larger store. Before we were not allowed that because Grey hound would not allow it even if they had no service here.

Here is a delicious carrot recipe my daughter made. I wanted more but refrained.
I love her photos in all her blogs.

Edited to add that for some reason the above has to be highlighted, copied then put into your search engine. She is working on why.

Thanks for the site offering carrot suggestions.

When we still had horses we'd buy bushels of carrots for a fraction of a dollar from local farmers, as a treat for the horses.

They were perfectly fine and fresh and usable for carrot cakes, stir frying whatever. Love carrots gently stir fried with creme fraiche.
