If anyone follows facebook posts. Gato has been found dead. Owner is devastated. Me too.

I found it time to remember a cat I loved above all others and his sad death. Jacob, I miss you.

I posted this because I was really devastated at the lost of this lovely cat and the pain the owner was going through. I know of it on facebook only and I realized that most of you wouldn't know anything about it. But, it meant so much to me that I had to get it out. I am sorry that I confused anybody but I'm not sorry that I reached out.

Oh don't be sorry our fur babies are just as important as our human ones are. The loss can be devastating. I have a friend in Australia who's 19 year old cat got out one night she slipped through an open screen. They searched everywhere for her. They found her in a dumpster 2 days later someone had hit her with a car and instead of taking the kitty to the vet they tossed her like trash I cried for days and still think of her.. and the kitty's I lost over the years....I can not imagine life without a cat......

Although it makes me sad that it is no longer safe to let cats roam at will and I miss gardening with my cats, it is something of a comfort to know they are not at risk.

Gato's owner didn't let him outside either. She was taking him to the vet for a chip and she walks there with Gato in a contraption something like a carrier on a wagon. She left the top partially open so he could see outside and enjoy the ride. For some reason, this time, he squeezed out the opening and ran across the 4 lane road. She chased after him but couldn't find him. She spent most of every day and the 'cat hours' of the night at the site looking for him and setting traps and doing whatever else anyone advised but didn't find him. After a week of this someone found his body in a drainage ditch close to where he had got away. She's broken.
