Guess everyone wants their own Trudashians
Got a new for me (2014) set of wheels today with a backup camera... But I love the way you can sync your phone, have all your contacts come up then talk to it.... you can read text messages on it too. I doubt I'll use while on the road tho, it's too distracting. I do like being able to play music from my phone, now that it's paired with the car (bluetooth) I can call up my favourites on the phone then listen to them through a Bose speaker... It has USB port so can charge the phone and other gizmos if I need to...

I would love to get OnStar but we don't want the additional expense, however you can use their phone in the U.S. with no roaming charges... something to think about for the winter maybe.

I love playing with toys, I'm currently at the computer loading more music onto my phone's SD card.

Sounds like yours is the same as my 2015 RAV4. I was amazed to find that when I received an incoming text that a reponse list popped up on the screen. By touching an item on the list, that message is immediately sent out. One message that I liked [ IM DRIVING RIGHT NOW BUT iLL CALL YOU BACK ASAP ] appeared on a second page and required a page change. This was distracting and I would like this item to be number one.
I hoped that I could edit the list, but it doesn't seem to be possible!

I'm looking at buying a drone with a camera for a hobby as a new toy.

No spying. I'm thinking of applying for a job with the police department taking photos of accidents.

It's a 2014 Buick Encore, not my first choice. I wanted a Subaru Forester which is no. 1 rated for short people but they are too expensive, looked at the Hyundai Tuscon but they were a bit bigger so ended with this, as it's AWD too. It's a nice drive but one thing I can't believe we didn't check out was my ability, or lack thereof, to close the back. I can obviously open it but can't reach far enough to close it. It's bad enough asking people in the grocery stores to get stuff off the top shelves but now I'll have to ask people to close the back door... Hubby is going to look at putting a pull thingy on it but doesn't want to put holes in it.

I don't usually get all that excited about a new car but this is a bit more than we usually go for... could be the last one ..... we aren't getting any younger. Taking into Toronto tomorrow, should be fun.

You and thousands of others ! Last year one of my senior friends bought one to play with, paid $1700 for a used one with a camera and other gadgets that fit. He practiced and got pretty good at making it fly around and actually land where he wanted it to, but regulations really restrict where you can fly them, how high you can fly them, and there are stiff penalties if you get caught breaking a law.

In 2010 I bought a new GM Chev Silverado truck with many bells and whistles including Onstar. I had 6 months free Onstar and satellite radio, didn't use the radio much since I don't like a lot of noise when driving, but after the 6 months bought $100 worth of air time on the Onstar phone service. It works everywhere, you have your own number, so it works much like a cell phone only better reception and it was cheaper than subscribing to a cellular provider. Onstar is also great if you are in an emergency situation, can auto call if the airbags go off, and every month emailed me with all my tire pressures, oil change schedule, and a bunch of other maintenance and vehicle readings, pretty neat technology.

Unfortunaltely, the truck wasn't very good at pulling a 5th wheel trailer, so I traded it off on a Ford Superduty . The Ford has the Sync feature which allows you to pair your cellphone, and you can voice command many features including which music to play, gender, artist, etc, on USB stick, Sirius satellite radio or on CD. IMO, much too complicated when you're driving, so if I want music (and I seldom do), it's FM radio and I don't have our cell phone on except to make outgoing calls when required.

Congratulations FSG. It sounds like a terrific car. I have the opposite problem with my Honda Civic which is very hard on my 6 ft 3" sil.

It's funny the things you never think of when looking for a car. We rented an SUV that didn't raise the trunk high enough, so hubbie hit his head. I'd never thought about the closing issue.

Our 2009 car is in great condition but I put my foot down with hubbie and said we were getting a new car. I have trouble with blind spots and the driver's seat doesn't adjust well. I also want the bells and whistles, everything that FSG got. There are only so many years left. The car is going to one of his sons, who has had financial issues since 2008. He and his kids should be in a safe car.

The thought has also crossed my mind too Campy!

Congrats on the new car FSG. Our car's 2007 registered, so think the likelihood of getting a drone won't get too much support from DW! biggrin 04
