https://www.thestar.com/sports/olympics/2016/08/07/ioc-bans-entire-russian-team-from-competing-in-rio-paralympics.html Entire paralympic team barred from competing as punishment to Russians for doping. This is so unfair. Let them ban the entire Russian Olympic team, not the paralympics. These people deserve accolades for overcoming handicaps. They need and deserve support, not to be used as pawns in the drugging scandals. |

I wonder why they singled out the Paralympic teams, also? Strange decision! |

But, how does that explain banning the paralympians for drugging by the olympians? |

It's all politics. The paralympic games have a much less audience than the olympics, it give the Russians a slap on the wrist while still allowing them their show to the world. The entire olympics has become a dog and pony show, costing billions with many under table deals and millions spent on graft and corruption. Why they can't just make one Olympic location and have it there every 4 years is a mystery to me. |

I understand what you are saying Dialtone and I had that thought myself but, hoped I was wrong because it is so heartless and unfair. I'm not a fan of the Olympics and never have been but at least I believed that it was an admirable attempt to help various peoples to come together in peace. However, more and more I'm seeing it as a politically influenced money grab. I'm sad at losing so many illusions in my life. |

The 1972 Olympics turned into a political statement, with 11 athletes slaughtered along with 1 policeman. IMO having the Olympics in your country is a detriment, the cost overruns, security, and infrastructure for a 2 week show runs into billions. It's not worth it. Hopefully Canada keeps it's nose out of the bidding process for future shows, we can't afford to maintain what we have now. |

Haven't had any illusions about the Olympics for many years. Doubt if I have too many illusions to lose. |

Guess everyone wants their own Trudashians

More or less.. they didn't comply with the requirements because samples went missing... why would the State (as alleged) make samples disappear unless they had reason to fear the results? https://www.paralympic.org/news/ipc-suspends-russian-paralympic-committee-immediate-effect |
