OK, I'm hooked!

“Well you look still look cute in your own ‘only Ida Vance could pull off way’, but come on IV a backpack?” she said while tapping Ida’s light purple Jansport backpack.

“What? We are in college, if more people carried these around they would get out of here in 4 years instead of 5.”

Firstly, when I was in high school Jansport was the shit. You literally had to carry it everywhere with you or u may not return to see it. and then some people would steal the little strings on them and u'd see people with a whole world of strings on theirs. thanks for the flashback.

LOL, I cant believe she brought her stuff to study at a PARTY! LOL

When he made eye contact with her he gave her the proverbial guy head nod, the ‘I’m too cool to say high but I won’t be a jerk so I’ll acknowledge you nod.’

I know that nod!! I do it too

“Was that out loud? Sorry about that I was just saying jeeze this is a nice place,” Ida said quickly after Regina elbowed her in the ribcage. “Look at that I see someone I know, I’m going to go say hello for an hour,” she said while emphasizing the word hour.

I love Ida! She doesnt give a damn! I love people like that.

Quote:

“Forget it man it ain’t happening. She’s practically married to some big shot who graduated three years ago, she won’t even entertain a conversation with you.”

“Which makes her even better. You fellas know I like challenges. You know what they say, nothing in life that’s worth anything comes easily,” he said as he effortlessly flashed a winning smirk and took anther swig of his beer.

LOL, I love Cole, he's funny. Him chasing Ida promises to be very interesting!

Great intro! I can't wait for more!

I like it. This certainly has the comedic potential to fit in with the 'MAD GOLDEN SHIT' category. I Luv, Luv, Luv, romantic comedies especially with girls that are relatable and I most definately know what it's like to be an Ida, especially with Reggie's around. It seems like this Cole guy's gonna play the Playa, and try to game Ida away from her man but I have a high sense that that is going to be harder than getting Donald Trump to get a new haircut and I'm curious to see if he can do it.

LONG LIVE THE NON-BULLSHIT Female character's! ;)

ITA with Hetairai, I am hooked! Thanxs for the heads-up on possible delays on updated chapters. Still, it sucks that I might have to wait to hear more on Cole and Ida, cause I am straight feelin' the college days they are experiancing.

Ida, wooo, chick is harsh. She started off reminding me of myself at school, just wanting sometime to myself to study or just read a book I got from the library and having to deal with guys interrupting my vibe. Seriously, I don't understand their reasoning. It's like the more alone it looks like I want to be, the greater the chance of someone coming up to bother me. If I felt like talking chances are I wouldn't be reading. Anyhoo, then with Regina getting on Ida about her casual attire at the party. Please! Guys could care less. It could be 1 in the morning when me and muh chicks decide to hit up the coffee lounge for some tea/late night snack, we'll be darn-near in our pajamas and guys will still hit us up. But I'm a lot more passive then Ida, like I will try and find the nicest way to let a guy know I'm not interested just in case I run into him again. Ida could careless. I can't wait to find out who this Derrick guy is that got her senses on lockdown.

I am so thankful that Terrance is interested in Regina, cause I'd hate reading about her chasing something that leads to a dead end, but he better start giving her some signals with weight to 'em. head nods, hmpf <_< .

Cole, Cole, Cole (enters mental image of Channing Tatum). I got to give him props for hanging around Ida as long as he did, cause by the end of their convo. I was laughing at him  'bout as hard as he's boys. Not much to say on him yet, except he has good manners and good taste in women.

“Is there a mall in your hometown?”

“No, but there is one less than 45 minutes away.”

“How many people graduated in your senior class?”

“Forty-Seven”

“How many black people went to your school?”

“Two”

“All of that plus you listen to country music. Tucker you know your ass is country I don’t know why you won’t accept it.”

*LMAO* You go Bo! Cole is definitely country :P .

Ida, Ida, Ida. Now why didn't you tell Derrick about Cole? Hehe

Quote:

“Yeah,” she replied as he shut the door behind him. Ida laughed to herself. She had to give it up to him Cole was a character. She had the feeling that there would never be a dull moment while working with him in the lab. She knew that Derrick would be less than enthused to find out about her working with a male lab partner. Not only a male partner, but an attractive male partner. Not that she was paying close attention, it was just a given that Cole was attractive. In the end she didn’t care how he looked, as long as he helped her get an A in Bio.

:D :D Keep telling yourself that ;)

I love the 3 stooges, Bo, Cole and Terrence. They remind me of some guys in high school.

this story is endless fun. what i'm finding interesting right now is the possible derrick/cole/IV triangle. because reggie gave her the 'good man' talk and so far, it seems very true . . . derrick loves IV a lot. wouldn't it interesting if she had to chose between two great guys, had to make a serious decision about which one she really wanted? we'll see.

i'm enjoying this sports insider aspect; it's fun, seeing as i went to a college with no sports culture . . . :( and here we have cole who's getting stereotyped everytime i turn around. it's interesting, and funny, the way he's supposed to play the dumb hick jock role when he is obviously anything but.

twizz, i wish you hadn't brought channing tatum into it. i'm still blind from that picture of his glorious naked ass. B)

keep rocking the comedy, rudy.

AMAZING tru!!!! you are such a great writer! its crazy. like you're in my head.
i can relate to so much of this. the college experience...the ppl and their personalities...all the fun and sarcasm. i just wish i had a guy to go along with all of it, like iv. sigh, and she has 2. i kind of wish there was no derrick in the picture so she could see cole for her perfection. but i guess that wouldnt make the story as interesting. oh well. and channing...whooooooooooo! why'd yall have to go there??!?!

i dont even kno what else to say ab this piece. words escape me right now. ill get back to you. just know its great.

Well ya'll, thanks for the reviews! I am glad that you like the story thus far. I am having so much fun writing this one, it's not even funny! Speaking of funny, it is hard to write comedy when you try. You know what I mean? In Patience Is a Virtue everyone told me how funny it was, when I wasn't trying, and now that I'm trying it's hard...craziness! In case you haven't noticed by now, my sense of humor is laced in sarcasm

I entitled this one Lovers and Friends, not only because I am a huge Usher fan ;) but also because it is very fitting to the plot of the story. I am attempting mini plots that show the greatness and complexity of relationships in college. Reggie's relationship with Ida and her relationship with Terrence, Cole's relationships with Terrence and Bo, and obviously the center plot (most important) is Ida's relationship with Derrick and Cole. Hence the title Lovers and Friends

P.S. I updated the last one twice in a row, so make sure you don't skip one :D

Ida rolled her eyes in disgust. She failed to see the point in getting drunk on a school night.

“Lighten up,” Cole whispered in her ear with a smile.

“Shut up,” she whispered back as she opened up the menu.

i really like their comraderie, that he has the balls to tell her to lighten up, and that IV is already influenced by him though she perhaps doesn't realize it and certainly wouldn't admit it if she did. that's a product of him taking her head on, being real with IV -- amazing how well that works. gee, wish more guys would try that.

“Sports and kids are my passion, almost everything I do involves one or the other,” he stated confidently.

“I can respect that,” Ida replied

cole has a confidence bordering on brashness that i really enjoy. boy just knows what he's about, and that's that, and he's not worried about what anyone thinks. at the same time, he's a gentleman like to the nth! degree. classy but cut from ordinary cloth ... long live the small town boys.

great work, rudy. enjoying every second.

 I am stilll LMAO at the interraction between Ida and Sandy. Sandy has no idea how close she came to catching a beat down. Man, she's just sad and not that Cole was straight protesting Ida leaving his side to swith places with that trick. *shakes head* Ah, I'm a just going to leave the Sandy issue alone.

Props to Cole for being so perceptive, I think is the word I'm looking for, in regards to Ida not sharing her art with her significant other. Obviously she is not as comfortable with Derrick as she initially thought. It's cool that Cole let her know that he picked up on it, but didn't push the issue when she steered the conversation another way.

Geez, Cole and Ida are so darn interesting. I so want to see these two together. More soon, please, R.T. :)
