Hopefully I'll be able to help. When I draw an anime character I look at the whole as a picture and then I start with the porportions or what ever looks easier. Typiclly I like to start with the head and work my way down. What helps is not to look at the paper constantly when drawing. Mainly look at the character's features and drag your pencil or pen slowly, but accurartately. What also helps is look at the character's features as if each feature was a shape. For example the slanted eyes would simply be similar two accute triangles on their sides slightly shaped and different from the angles with two circles in the middle which would be the pupil, and iris. Those are some of the basic techiques that I know. For more advanced tips, like lighting, shadowing etc try the beginning tecniques first before asking me about more options. |

Whatever you do, don't buy How to Draw Manga books, they're useless. So technically, my friend told me, that you just have to adapt styles. Yeah... I'm just a mere amateur. ^^;;; |

I will tell you my experiences of drawing but my friend knows to draw a bit and intermediate level. Listen closely. To draw eyes is quite complicated but, you need measurements to make a circle needing a sketch I advice you use the tools for the drawing but it takes time to practice. Although the most to draw a lips is the female mature woman's lips especially a lipstick, unless it has a good curve to it. That is all I can tell you now. ^^;; |
