Hey there
You must have a wild fantasy life. ^_^ welcome to Big Boards!

New here!
Welcome farooqaaa! We hope you will like to post here, too!

Chat room without refreshing
There's a very cool little chatroom that may interest you at http://gabbly.com

It refreshes with every new entry, and in fact, tells you when someone arrives on the site. It displays the current chatters as well.

You don't even have to register for it. It is configured to your URL.

If you just connect by a link, the chatbox will float in your upper right screen, and you can navigate all around the messageboard, even making posts if you like while the screen stays visible. (Does not minimize when you load a new page.)

However, if you want to embed it you can. Which is nice if you want to put it in a members only location. Choose the embed option from the website choices. You can make the box any size and shape you like.

Check it out. You can chat on a demo at the website and get a feel for it.

Here's the down sides:

you can't edit (but you can block users)
no smilies or text color options
I don't think you can change the box color, but not sure about that.
Users can sign in with any name they want.

So it's pretty simple, but works great and once you sign in, it remembers your name, which I think is pretty cool.

I am new to big boards
Welcome Todd! You mean everyone here isn't under 20? Hope you find your stay here a pleasant one.

Hello everyone
Welcome FaithLeader! I hope you find what you are looking for here.

Please post some of your work in the showcase so we can see what you do :)

This is one of Zelnen's codes. It's posted here:

Give forums topic templates:

It is pretty cool, isn't it? :)

Conditional Statments, if then else
Well, I know that you can use conditional statements in javascript coding. Conditional statements are one way to do things in javascript, like in this script:
<script type="text/javascript">
else if(window.ActiveXObject)xmlhttp_type="ActiveX";
else if(window.createRequest)xmlhttp_type="IceBrowser";
else xmlhttp_type="Unknown";

The same thing can be done with switch and type statements.

different applications of how to do the same thing as in the code above are in this thread in the javascript discussion board:

There is a lot of coding help available on these forums:
If you are looking to learn about coding, it might be worth registering on the discussion boards there. There is a very lively javascript forum. I use the HTML forum a lot too.

As for whether you can use them somehow in the actual board controls, I really have no idea, but maybe someone else will know what is possible. (Hopefully, I haven't totally missed the intent of your question. :) )

Color Forum & Topic Titles
Well, then, I just amazed myself too! :w00t: Glad it worked for you, at least mainly.

Color Forum & Topic Titles
I'm not a skinner so I'm not sure about this particular fix. This might only affect text links and not the forum or topic titles, but you can give it a try.

Use CSS. Add this to the head of you HTML document and edit the properties to meet your needs.

<style type="text/css">
a:link {
color: #ABCDEF;

a:active {
color: #ABCDEF;

a:visited {
color: #ABCDEF;

a:hover {
color: #ABCDEF;

For decoration just add the property "text-decoration" to the appropriate elements. Here's an example.

a:hover {
color: #ABCDEF;
text-decoration: underline;

Welcome Kyle,

Check this Big Boards IF FAQ...I think this is what you are looking for:

How to change the user group colors:

My name is blue because I'm in the Support Team group, which has been colored blue, so all support team member names will be blue.

If you want to give certain members special colors that are not related to their member group, you can do it with this code:

help please
There are many member legend codes to choose from in this section of the InvisionFree Archive:

I'm sure you will be able to find one there to suit you.

Do you think our President Is doing good?
I pray for him every day. He is having to govern in a climate of great disapproval. I'm thankful that we have a leader who makes decisions based on his very clear values of right and wrong, instead of one who takes a public opinion poll to decide what color of shirt to wear that day.

Welcome Kermit! I do have one question.....is it easy being green?
