| Welcome to Big Boards. Big Boards at one time offered the Zathyus network our long famous Resource Archives, our extensive search indexes, and our info-packed resource forums. Eventually, these were made redundant by upgrades to the documentations and expanded search features added to the ZetaBoards software, and this forum then lost relevancy and subsequently became inactive. Our team then embarked on a new project called Planet Nexus, where a bold new experiment in forum promotion is taking place. We call it nexworking. NexusTree offers social networking pages for forums in a fully automated format. Your NexusTree page is created instantly when your join the nexus. Find out more by visiting Planet Nexus, and become part of the nexworking revolution. ![]() If you're already a member please log in to your account for additional access: |

Hello everyone. I pray this is the correct forum to post this request in. If not, I am sure someone will move it for me. I am seeking a chat room option for my Invision free board. The best option for me would be a java applet set up through my dynamic light set up page and connected to an irc server on where I have been a long time member. Id need it set up to dalnet irc network with the channel the applet joins as #TalkJesus. This channel is already registered to me on dalnet and I chat there already. I am founder of that channel. however, if a java applet option is unavailable for me to use, Id consider some other option. Other options would be harder for me to monitor but Id try a good option if irc is not available. Can you help me? T |

I moved this to the support desk forum. Mike is our resident IRC expert. I expect he'll be along to help you out in a bit.

Whats the Dalnet server address? As in, something like "irc.dal.net"? Assuming it is since i just looked it up: That's the code i wrote for BB's java chat to grab the user's name from the board on join. I already set it up with the necessary information, so all that's left if to adjust the width and height to whatever you need (you can find it in the code rather easily). Hope thats what you were looking for

Thank you mike for that code. It looks great. I placed it in the dynamic light set up and it shows up on the portal page. I changed it to a better server on the dalnet network but still its not connecting. I do not believe its the server address., I believe its something to do with the nick.. or guest nick. When I try to join using it it states " Guest [exp/chasing] Chasing nicknames is not allowed on DALnet " and then disconnects. Here is the link right to the portal page. If you try joining through the applet you may see what I am talking about. If there is anything I may need to change in the code I will do so, just tell me what. http://z3.invisionfree.com/Talk_Jesus/index.php?act=site T |

I believe using Mike's script to indentify nicks on your site violates term #4 of the nick chasing terms. |

Thank you Cory,, So... How can we work together to fix this? Will I need to use a different type of chat , or can the code be fixed to allow it to connect to Dalnet? Or maybe another network. Network really does not matter to me. but I do like irc because I know how to use mirc. T |

Mike said you won't be able to use his script due to the terms they have in place. We suggest switching to a client that's more lenient, such as ChatZilla or WikkedWire. |

Ok, I will remove Mikes script. Now, tell me please. Are the two other options you mentioned above,.. ones that can connect to any irc network or not? T |

Thank you all for your help. I have found a way to put an irc chat appliet on my board. I set it up on Ablazenet instead of Dalnet and used a pjirc applet provided by ablazenet through a link on my board. It seems to be a good option and allows me to stay on a Christian irc network. Blessings for you all T ************************************ ending discussion |
