Escaping Darkness
Summery
All Pyrro wanted was for someone to ask her to dance. When she becomes tangled in the lives of the Sky’s she finds out just who she is and what she can do. Can she escape the darkness? Or will her past be her undoing
********************************************************************
Prologue
She entered the home of the rebellion. Her white hair gently blowing in the summer wind. She was a young girl. Nevertheless, that had not stopped her from traveling from her home on Ske. The journey had taken her through the Untamed Forest of the Anamis’ and past the Great Eastern Mountains. A long and hard passage one had lasted for eight days and seven nights. Unlike so many that had traveled to the very spot where she now stood, she was a Sky. As pure born as they came from the Royal family, no less she was the only heir to the throne. However, not even her bloodline mattered in her importance. For she was a Sight Seer, she could see into what could be and what must never be. That was a rare gift even among the Sight Seers. Only thirty had been able to see into the future in all of the histories and not one could see as far as she could into years far away. That gift was why she had traveled had risked her life, her chance at the throne, her future.
Twenty men stood by watching her every movement. Each step she took brought her closer to them. They could kill her at any time, and she knew that, but they wouldn’t not until they heard her out. At least she hoped that they would not. She studied them waiting for a sign that something anything might go wrong. She watched the way they stood, how they held tight to their knifes, how all the children and women had disappeared, but most of all she looked into their eyes. Their eyes told her they would not kill her not until she attacked.
After many long moments a tall man with hair as black as the night sky stepped forward “Who are you?” he asked his voice harsh.
“My name is White Sky.” she said softly, “I have news for the man who leads you into battle, and guilds you in times of peace.”
“Peace, something we have never known, and our children cannot try to understand.” The man whispered stepping closer to her, “peace a word that was long ago forgotten. Something that has not existed since before the days of the Sky power.
“If you have never known it then why do you speak of it like something you understand.”
The man took a step closer to her now she could feel his hot breath on her face as he spoke, “because little princess our mother’s mother’s spoke of it. Told us the stories of peace. Nevertheless, peace is just as real as Alice of wonderland is. A kid’s story.”
“Alice of wonderland the story that traveled from Earth. How can we know how real Wonderland is if none of us have stepped foot on the old Earth? Peace is real and I hope one day my words might bring peace again.”
“How can the words of a child bring peace?”
“How can the words of a man, who has killed and will do it again, bring any more peace? Than the words of a child, who pure of heart and soul?” she asked softly, “so, will you let me speak with you leader? Or did I travel eight days and seven nights for nothing?”
The men debited between trusting her and killing her. A man with dirt brown hair and soft green eyes stepped forward. He was in his late thirties and a scare ran from just below the eye to the bottom of his chin.
“That would be me then.” He said
“sir.” The men yelled in protest.
He placed his hand to silence them. “Yes I see that she was born a Sky. and yes I know that nothing would please her father more then to see me dead, but is she fool enough to come here to kill me? To take my life looking as she does as much like a Sky as then men who have killed our people. Moreover, if the Good king were to send someone to kill me it would not be his precise daughter who has the gift of sight and is first in line for the throne? Is he that much of a fool?”
The men mumbled their agreement. And when they all grew quite he smiled knowing he had won the argument.
“Now then follow me.” He said turn back to the girl.
He lead her threw the camp past where women washed clothing and where young shoeless children played simple games of tag. To the edge of camp where a pale red tent not any different than the other tents they had pasted. He stopped in front of it.
“Here we are young Sky.”
She nodded. Then the two stepped inside. It was not a tent filled with paintings or with furs of great value. Like the generals and commanders homes in Sky, it had just a bed, a table, and some cushions.
She smiled at this. A leader who lives like his men, is really someone they will follow to the ends of this world. It was simple yet so prefect.
He pulled her out her trance “So Miss. Sky what can I do for you.”
“I have a message to tell you about times that are to come.” She said.
“is this not treason of your people giving us a message?” he asked.
“Treason,” She laughed, “I guess that it could be taken that way. But when the goddess gave me the sight it was not for the sole use of my people it was so I could save the lives that need not died.”
“you age would not suggest such wisdom. Yet you speak words that even old men seem to lack.”
“They only lack it because they do not yet know what I have had to see.”
“Yes I suppose so. So what is your message young Sky?”
“Black Sky, the shadow prince, is going to murder my father, Grey Sky, and take the thrown of Sky.” She said gently
A silences fell for several long moments
At last the man asked the question that now burned In his thoughts “What visions brought you this news?”
“I saw it in a dream my fiancée, Black Sky, will tell me in the years that are yet to come.”
“Why should I believe a mere girl of 16 and start a war with the Skys? Least of all a girl who is marring the only shadow widener in ten thousand years.” he asked.
“You don’t have to and I have seen that you won’t. The real reason I came was to tell you to trust a girl, my daughter, who will comes here one day. You must help her win the war.”
“What do war do you speak of?”
“The war she will start by stealing the Halfling that one day will be born. Now I most go.” She said with a smile.
He watched as she left the tent and walked through the rebellion. the daughter of the king. Come to warn the outcast, the tired, and the hungry.
That was the last time the men in the rebellion saw the young woman, and as she had promised a few years later when Grey Sky was cared across all the lands so all could grieve his death. They know that the girl had spoken the truth, and a dark age was unfolding before their very eyes. The only way to stop the worst of what was to come was to follow the girl’s instructions.

Chapter one
The servant escorted the boy to the king’s chambers. The boy entered the chambers to find the king stood in the shadows. The king himself appear to be a shadow. The boy walked slowly to the king careful not to touch any of the shadows in the room. when the boy stopped he was next to a candle that burned brightly illuminating the. The king watched his son silently.
At last the boy spoke “Father why have you called me at this hour of the night?” his voice was so soft that the a dime could have dropped and still been heard.
The man moved closer to the boy. The shadows seemed to move with his movements. Swallowing the room whole.
“Son it is good to see you too.” The man said with a wicked smile.
“The servant told me that it was important father.” The boy whispered.
“Yes it’s important. Tremendously significant.”
“What could be so important that you had to wake me in the middle of the night?” he asked his temper rising
“It is time my son. They will know by now that she is not one of them.” The man said amused.
“Who will know?” the boy asked still groggy from being awoken so early.
“The Anamis.” The man whispered so softly the boy almost didn’t catch it.
“Why would they tell us who she is?” he asked now wide awake.
“They won’t, but I have found a way that there will be no hiding who she is.”
“How?” the boy asked hanging on his father’s words
The man placed a lager dark bag in the boy’s hand.
“What is this stuff?” the boy asked opening the bag to reveal a fine golden dus.
“That my son is a substance that no full blood Anamis can handle. “
The boy blinked in bewilderment “You mean I take that stuff and just throw it over an Anamis head and bam it will tell me if it’s the Halfling?”
“Yes, my son if it doesn’t hurt her then she is the one I’m looking for.” He said cruelly not hiding how much he enjoyed the idea of the pain it would cause a lot of Anamis children.
“But father why not just send solders to receive her? Why me? why your heir?”
“Because I have to trust you. I have to know you are loyal to the throne and nothing else. How else would I prove this then by having you do something that I have wanted done for 13 years?” he asked.
The boy slowly blinked wondering if his father knew of the secrets, the boy had been hiding for so long and the ways he had bettered his father over the course of sixteen years. “Yes my king I shall not fail you.” He said as he was trained to do since he could first talk.
“I would expect noting less of my heir to the throne.” The man said imitating a kind smile.

The boy left his father. And walked through the dark castle in the opposite direction of his room. Finally he reach his destination, his sisters room. He knocked on the door. And waited for a minute, before knocking again. A girl’s tiered voice could be heard from inside the room.
“Come in.”
He opened the door and entered. Making sure to close it completely before speaking.
“Sister I’m sorry to distribute you so late at night, but father just told me some news that I believe you should know.”
She sat up a little straighter now wide-awake. She could hear in his frantic voice that this was nothing good. What had their father said to him that was so important at this time of the night?
“What is it?” she said barley a whisper.
“Father is sending me to Chestermore to find the Halfling.”
“What?”
“He found a way to separate her from the others of her age.”
“What is it?”
“It’s a powder that hurts full Anamis.”
She gasped in disbelief .
“What should I do Blue?” he asked.
“Follow fathers orders. “
“But.”
“Red you have to make him believe you really are what he wants you to be.”
“And what if I find her?”
“Then bring her back here,” She said calmly, “and I’ll get her away and train her.”
“But he’ll send me and the other guards to get her back.”
“That’s fine, do as he tells you, but if you do bring her back to Ske, and I don’t get back in time. Then you’ll have to get her out. Father can’t know what all she can do. He just cant epically if he is right. If she had the gifts of both our people”
“Blue I can’t do this.” He said
“Red you have to. She may be what the world needs.”
“No what if this gets you killed what then? The prophecy said you had to win you had to take the throne, you not me not anyone else you. Blue she all this girl is a weapon, but the world needs you to lead us into the era of peace.”
“Red it said never said me. It says the one who dreams of the entire world in one. Who knows the way that they must live. Will bring together one whole. Will lead them into times where battles will not rage and love may finally be held. They will rule all land where light meets darkness.”
“it’s has to be you it can’t be anyone else Blue it’s you and the world knows it.”
“I have to go now.” He said as he hugged her and walked away.
“Red.”
“Yeah sis?”
“Be careful.”
“I will.” The boy said looking at his sister afraid of how his actions would change her life forever.

Chapter 2
I sat on a low branch of a birch tree. My tail twitched with aggravation as I watched everyone in my tribe getting ready for the Firefly Festive. Everyone seemed to be doing something even the little kids who were peeling the corn or helping ready the fest in some other way.
Over the years, I had learned never to offer help. Everything I did was wrong. I was an outcast of my own race. The Animas.
We are a very odd specimen. With long cat-like tails and pointed ears. We are defiantly the most different from the others whom we share this land with. Although I have never seen any of them, I have heard many stories.
Human with round ears, and how clumsy. I have heard many tails of them killing my kind on sight because they believe us to be savages.
Then there are the skies. Legends tell that each of them as strong as three humans. And each of them extremely skilled in magic. Although not as graceful as the animas.
I can only imagine the stories they tell of us. With our animalistic features and our own special gifts. Each of us could control a single element, but only after The Change that occurs on our 16 birthday. And how a selected few are born with the ability to shape shift. Normally there is only one a tribe. They are meant to guard and protect. The only shape shifter in my tribe is me, which is probably the only reason they haven’t completely neglected me.
"Pyrro!" someone shouted from the bottom of the tree.
At the mention of my name, I quickly jumped down to confront them.
"Yes?" I said with a sweet smile. Coming face to face with the alpha female of our Tribe River.
"Do you plan on sitting in that tree all day without helping?" she asked grabbing my arm and dragging me toward the center of the village.
"Well everything seemed under control. And I didn’t want to get in the way." I said innocently.
"Well at the very least go guard the front entrance? We should be having a few visitors for the festive tonight."
"Yes ma'ma" I replayed. I slowly made my way to the opening it the thick vines that surrounded and protected our small village: Riverbed. As I jumped up to the low branch of the guard tree that grew beside the entrance, my mind went back to the lessons I took when I was younger, from the old shape shifter, Regen. He was the only one to ever treat me like an equal. After he passed on, I was required to step up and take his place.
I couldn’t help but smile as I remember my younger years. I had lived with Regen since I was five. As soon as I had shown signs of being a shape shifter my foster mother dumped me on him. Who had never thought of me as worth a thing. For 8 years, he taught me ever thing he knew about being the tribe protector. Form mending the vine wall to mending broken bones.
He was like a father to me. A year after Regen had taught me everything he could, he passed on. It was on his deathbed that he explained how I had come to be a part of this tribe. He told me how Feuer, my foster mother found a half-starved animas in the forest. The stranger begged her to take me. He refused to give his name, and as soon as Feuer took me from him, the stranger ran away.
If took a deep breath and cleared my thoughts.
"Tonight is a night of celebration." I whispered to myself. "Not for bad memories"
The firefly festive was a celebration of the first shape shifter. A soft yawn escaped my mouth. Exposing my fangs. They were not huge. But very distinctive. Another thing that set me apart from the tribe. Who were strictly vegans. My fang along with my orange cat-like tail was the only hints of my birth tribe. The orange color matched the grasses that grew in the south most part of the untamed forest. While my fangs indicated that I had come from a long line of hunters.
I climbed higher into the guard tree looking at the old beaten path that leads to the entrance. No sign of anyone coming. I closed my eye and pictured a fox as I jumped from the tree.
My front two paws hit the ground a second sooner than I had thought. I yelped as I did a front roll and landed on my now bushy tail. I eyed the front entrance of the village before taking off into the woods.
The fox was one of my favorite shapes. I felt like I could out run anyone. I pumped my legs even faster. The feeling of wind though my fur was like no other sensation.
After about 5 miles I stopped at a small pound to drink. Then I realized how high in the sky the sun had rinsed to and I took off back to the village.
One of the females of my age group, Tree, was sitting at the gate. When she saw me in fox form running back, she gave me and wicked grin.
“You’re in trouble. River wants to see you.” She said in a you’re going to be banish sort of way that she always had with me.
I walked back to the center of the village trying to hide from River knowing she would yell at me this time for sure.
“Pyrro.”River yelled from behind me.
“Yes.” Smiled at her innocently as if I hadn’t done anything wrong.
“I can explain.”
“Let’s take a walk Pyrro. I want to hear this.”
When we were a few steps out of earshot she said, “So Pyrro what’s the story this time?”
“I heard something in the woods so I ummm went to check it out and it was a umm umm thief who was stealing this ladies’ belongings so I went to help her and got hit on the head and was umm knocked out and when I woke up no one was their so I hurried back to the village.”
“now what really happened.”
“Went for a run.”
River rolled her eyes at me. “Do you ever hear anything I say to you?” she asked loudly
“Yes of course I do.”
“So you chose just chose to ignore me then?”
“No it’s just…” I looked down at the ground thinking about Regen and wish I was more like him.
There was a long silence between River and I then at last she placed her hand on my shoulder.
“Pyrro, I know things haven’t been easy on you since Regen pass on, but that was two years ago. It’s time for you to start doing your job. I can’t keep letting what you do go; you have to step up now.”
Then she walked away.
I walked back to my tree thinking about what she said. Had I been holding on to Regen’s memory to long? Somehow I had climbed up into the tree that overlooked the place where the firefly feastable was going on. My Red hair flowed around the me. Drums were being pounded in a rhythm soft and soothing I watched as the boys walked up to a female and asked the female to dance. They matched every step every breath so perfectly. I wonder how they seemed so perfect together, as if they had done this dance since early childhood. No one had taught me how to be like the girls. Regen had told me to forget about the boys in this village. He had said that none of them would ever choose me to be their mate. But when I had looked at him with tears in my eyes he took me in his arms and whispered “Pyrro they will never chose you because you are so much more than anyone of them will ever be. One day you will change the world.”
The moon soon reached its highest point and quite had began to settle over the village as everyone formed a circle around the Teller of Stories. I wondered what this year’s story would be like. Maybe a Story about battle where the hero gets what he was battling for, nether the less I left knowing no one wanted me there any way. I walked to the hut I had once shared with Regen. Ever since his death the hut had grown cold and uninviting.
I thought about the day I was brought to the hut.
“Pyrro you will now be staying with Regen. Okay?” River had asked me.
“Okay. Stars never really liked me anyway. But why him?”
“Because Pyrro we think that you might one day be a Shifter.”
Regen smiled at me as if he knew a secret I had not been told. I took his hand and he led me into his hut. I smelled of herbs and meats. The place was clean and a glow of warmth embraced me there were three cots in the room. Right then I knew my life had just gotten a lot better.
I lay there in my bed drifting off to sleep, when all of a sudden I woke up startled to hear loud yelling out side. I ran out my hut, thinking a couple of males had gotten into a fight over some female. However, that theory was quickly tossed aside when I saw hundreds of soldiers storming into our small village with swords drawn and shields up. Some villagers ran for their hunting knifes and spears, while most tried to take refuge in the forest.
Over the sounds of Anamis war calls and the ring of daggers hitting shields. The smell of sweat filled the air. I heard a mage yell out a spell. Instantly a wall of something fire surrounded the village, making escape impossible. Two fire Anamis, who were running straight though the firewall to freedom. While the water Anamis’ immediately started efforts to put it out, but every time they threw water on it, the fire only grew bigger and stronger. Making the air inside the village only hotter. Air became impossible to breath for the older elders.
Shaking my head. I realized the only way to get the fire out was to get rid of the one making the fire. I searched to mob and soon found who it was. A mage watching silently as the other soldiers attacked he only stood with his hand clichéd tight. He was yelling commands to the soldiers who stood by him. I reached to my belt for my dagger, and ran straight toward the mage. He was busy consecrating on the firewall spell so by the time he noticed me I was only two yards from him. He looked me up and down and began to chuckle.
“What do you plan on doing?” he asked, “Biting at my heels like an agitated puppy?” I hissed like a wild cat and lunged at him. He rolled his eyes and easily dodged my attack. I quickly lunged again and caught him on his left shoulder leaving a short, deep gash. Blood streamed out of it. His eyes seemed to darken as he looked at me.
“silly little girl you have no idea how much trouble you have gotten yourself in.” he said just loud enough that only I could hear him.
Using his good arm, he pulled a long narrow sword from its sheath. I hissed at him and lunged.
“Fine” he said thought clenched teeth “you want to play? I’ll play!”
He swung the sword for my ribs. Using my dagger, I was barely able to stop him. He withdrew his sword and swung harder shattering my dagger. Before I could react, he hit me on the side of my head with the flat of his sword knocking me into the blackness of unconscious.

By the time I woke, the sun was high in the sky. My hands had been tied behind my back and my feet bound. Next to me, there were two other Anamis’. My head was throbbing from where the sword had hit me. I looked up when I heard approaching footsteps. The mage and three soldiers were coming toward us.
“Good morning sleepy head.” the mage taunted. “Oh where are my manners! I have not introduced myself, but in my defense, you never gave me a chance. I am Red. Red Sky.”
My blood ran cold. He was a Sky.
“Now I am here to see if any of you pathetic vermin are The One. And just a fair warning if you aren’t then this will hurt quite a bit.” he said with a wide sinister grin, As if the sight of us in pain would be fun for him. Red turned to the Anamis closest to him who happen to be Aero, a young Anamis who had just gone thought The Change, but with her arms tied behind her she could not turn in to an eagle , which was her animal-self. Aero hissed at Red and a strong wind whipped through the village. Red kicked her in the ribs so hard I could hear them break. She howled in pain, but Red just rolled his eye, reached into a pouch on his belt, and pulled out a colorless dust-like material. He mumbled a few words then threw the dust, over Leaf. As soon as it touched her it turned as white a new flown snow, and Aero began to scream again, only ten times louder. He sighed heavily and shook his head at the soldiers and one of them took her away.
Red then turned the other Anamis who was Anemos a village elder. She was very calm and meet Reds gaze with her steady gray eyes. He bent down and met her eyes.
“Where is she? Where have you been hiding her?” he questioned
“I will never tell you” she yelled
Red gave an aggravated look and kicked her in the ribs a few times. Anemos screamed despite her best efforts not to.
“Tell me and no more of your kind will be hurt.”
She turned to him and spite I his face.
“You little.”
Then he kicked her hard in the side of the head. He turned to the second soldiers and shook his head. Then added as the soldier dragged her away, “Put her with the ones to be questioned.” The soldier gave a sharp nod and carried her off.
That left only Red. And me “I am going to enjoy this.” He said to me with a wide grin.
Bending down next to me, he smiled “ unless you know where she is.”
“Who?” I asked not sure what he meant.
“The bloody mutt.”
I blinked. “Why are you looking for a mutt?”
“Don’t play dumb with me.”
“Who said anything about playing?” I asked
He kicked me hard in the leg.
He grabbed the bag at his belt and untied it. It took every ounce of my self-control not to beg for mercy as I watched him reach in to that accursed pouch. He took a large handful out and threw it over me. His grin grew bigger as the dust drew nearer to my skin. I clenched my jaw and closed my eyes waiting for the pain. When it did not come, I opened my eyes confused. The dust didn’t burn in fact I couldn’t even feel it, and instead of turning white it had turned a red. I looked up at Red to see his reaction. I expected him to be furious that the dust didn’t burn me, but he was smiling.
“You didn’t even feel it did you?” he asked quietly.
I shook my head no.
He turned and left the tent and yelled, “We found The One! Soldiers to take care of the others.”
A cheer rang out from the soldiers.
“Sir should we kill them?”
My eyes widen with horror, I wanted to scream at them not to kill the villagers. However, I was still too shocked to speak.
“No, take them to the camp then to Ske.”
I breathed a sigh of relief they weren’t going to kill them at least not right now.
Then my thoughts trailed off. How could I be The One? I looked up and found Red staring at me with curiosity.
“How could you be the one my father has been looking for?” he asked.
Red quickly grabbed wood from around the tent and then lit it. The flames started to form a shape, within moments it showed the face of a man.
“Hello Father.” Red said calmly
“Why have you contacted me in such a crude manner?” the fire said. It took me a few moments to realize that Red had used a spell to contact someone that was far away.
“I have good news father.” Red replied with a smile, “I found her! The one you where looking for.” He finished. That’s when it hit me; Black sky was the one looking for me so that meant Red was Black Sky’s son?!
“Really! I want you and her at the palace by tomorrow.” Black said.
“What! That’s impossible!” Red replied. “It will take us at least a week to get to the High lands. We are at Riverbed as they call it . How can I make it by tomorrow?”
“Dam it, Son I love you. I truly do, but you can be so incompetent!” Black said softly. “Use you dragon if it’s just you two and you leave now without any stops you’ll make it.”
The image of his father faded and within moments, what had been a fire was only burnt out embers.
Chapter 3
I found myself staring at Red expecting him to come over and knocked out. Instead, he walked out of the tent for a few long minutes. When he returned he walked over to me and got down on a knee and looked at me. “Pyrro Ember, the half-born.” He said so softly as if he knew me when I was a little girl.
“How do you know my name?” I asked nervously.
“Because you were never born in this village. You were born on Ske in castle no less. Half-royal half Anamis.” He said not looking at me anymore.
Then Red turned to me suddenly and grabbed my arm pulled me to my feet and out of the tent. He stopped and looked around at the near empty area. He was only a few inches away from me. His sword was so close I could touch it with my fingertips.
“Don’t even think about it.” he said not looking at me.
Then he pulled up his sleeve to revile a dragon tattoo on his left arm. Red took a deep breath and called “Fire-Wing”. Quickly tracings the tattoo with his right hand. The impossible seemed to happen the tattoo glided off his arm. When the dragon was completely on the ground.
He turned to me his eyes staring into mine “I’m going to cut you bindings, but don’t think about running off. Okay?”
I nodded still planning to sprint as fast as I could away from them. His sword in a split second cut through all my bindings. And I sprinted as fast as I could away. Nevertheless, before I reached the cover of trees only 500 feet away I was on the ground with Red holding me down.
“Your spited little thing aren’t you?”
“Little who are you calling little you’re what 17 and I’m only a few feet shorter then you.” I fumed
“You didn’t really think you would escape me did you?”
“Yes you’re just a spoiled prince.”
“Spoiled? You really don’t know what kind of hell my life was from the earliest I can remember.” he said grabbing me and pulling me up with him, then dragging me to the spot where his dragon was.
“Hey solider come here.” He screamed.
“Yes sir?”
“Hold her while I get on then hand her up to me.” Red ordered.
“Yes my prince.”
The solder grabbed me as Red got on the Dragon in a flash.
“Okay now Pyrro ever got on a horse?”
“ye-s.” I said.
“It’s just like that only a little higher.” He said as if he were trying to reassure me.
“okay.” I said grabbing his out reached hand, which he pulled me up and on to it.
He pulled out a cup and poured a little water into it along with a green liquid.
“Drink it.” he ordered
“No.”
“It makes the ride easier on you.
“Fine.”
“Good. Now drink.” He handed me the appalling smelling liquid.
I took a sip then spit it out. “That stuff is disgusting”
The took out his sword and hit me over the head with the hilt of it. Almost instantaneously, everything went black.
I woke up to find I was in complete darkness. I was damp and this place smelled like death. I tried to recall why I was where ever I was, but nothing came to mine.
“Is she awake yet?” A girl’s voice broke the silence around me.
“Yes.”
I blinked knowing the voice; it was the prince Red Sky.
“good.” The girl said.
“Where is father?” Red questioned
“He’s dealing with a servant or something. Why does it matter?”
“Because, if we are going to commit treason then I rather he not be around to hear how we are going to do it.”
There was a sound like someone stopping and another person hitting them “ red the walls have ears they don’t always have brains but they do have ears the word treason isn’t something you want to say.”
“Your right sister.”
“She’s in this one?” the girl asked
“Yes.” Red said
“Okay ill need light now.”
“Right sister.”
A bright light shined in front of me. As a girl, about sixteen walked in and stood in front of me.
“So you’re the Halfling?” she asked
I nodded.
“A child this is what the goddess give me? I’ll make do. Pyrro then do you know your element?”
I shook my head, “no iv not gone thought the change yet.”
She looked at me for a moment. “Then come here.”
I stood slowly my head throbbing I dropped back down to the ground.
“Great you moron. You hurt the girl.” She said turning to reveal Red.
“I didn’t do anything to her.” he yelled back at her.
“You hit me with your sword.” I piped in
“You hit her with you sword! You better pray to the goddess that she well be will in time.”
“In time for what?” I asked.
She turned to me, her blue eyes staring into mine. “In time for the escape.”
“But that means you two are going to bust me out of here?” I asked
“No I am going to.” The girl said, “He’s going to play the honorable prince.”
“Why?”
“Because Pyrro Ember you are so much more important then you could have ever imagined in your wildest dreams.”
“You and my sister are foretold to bring the Shadow King to his knees and begin a new era of peace and prosperity.” Red whispered
“Then what after we escape?”
“Then we go to the rebellion.”
“What for?”
“You can’t stay here and you can go home where else are you going to go?”
“Point taken.”
“Pyrro .” Red said his face only inches away from mine said, “If you do what we say this will go a lot smoother and you come out of this just fine . I promise.
“He’s coming Princess.” A servant said walking into the cell.
“You better go he won’t be pleased to see you down here.” Red said to his sister
“Why would he be angry you’re the princess.”
“Because we aren’t the only ones who know the old legends.”
“Red you have to go soon too.”
She nodded and left me alone with Red.
“So you’re the prince?” I asked quietly.
“Yes, but now I have to leave for a bit try not to do anything stupid when my father comes around like tell him anything that has been said or who you saw.”
“Why do you care?”
“Because the people who will die if you are stupid are the only ones who can save you from a fate worst then death.”
Then he left me in complete darkness.
I listened carefully for a long time, then I heard two voices Reds and another mans.
“Have you been in to see her yet?” the man asked
“No, just got here a bit before you sir.”
“Okay then shall we?
The door opened slightly and a light shined then dimmed around the door.
“Pyrro Ember, the girl who was never meant to be born the mutt, do you know what I am going to do with you.” The man asked his voice harsh and filed with hate.
“No.” I breathed
“Good.” He said a dark sinister grin spreading across his face. Then he placed his hand on reds shoulder and the two left.
Hours seemed to pass by. The darkness closed in around me.

Chapter 4
A knock came at my door. Then my lady’s maid came in.
“My lady your mother wishes to have a word with you.” She spoke softly.
Ella was here name she had been taken from her home three years ago when my father invaded her little town and no one came to help them. We had won and like a war the women and children who survived had been taken and belonged to the Sky family for life. Ella had been very young at the time only 11 so I took her on as my lady’s maid so she would not have to endure the horrible life she may have had otherwise.
“Thank you. Ella, please tell her I’ll come to her study after I am dressed.”
“Of course my lady.” The girl said as she hurried out of the room.
I quickly dressed in as though I was going to the training fields. Jeans, a shirt, jacket, and boots. Then walked to my mother’s study on the other side of the castle.
“Blue. My darling daughter.” A voice I knew all to well said behind me.
“Father, it is truly unexpected to see you here this time on morn.” I said turning to face my father. His hair was a black as pitch, his eyes were like a black abbess pulling me farther in with no hope of escape, he was tall even by Sky standers, and his build was like that of the soldiers who were trained from childhood.
“I am the one who is shocked to see you. For, should you not be at the training fields. Judging by your attired.”
“Yes, I was going to go that way after a word with mother.”
“Ah than would you mind if I was to join you?”
“Please do not incontinence yourself on my behalf, and besides it is for a reason that mother and daughter should discuss. Not really proper to discuss in the presence of a male, let alone you my king.”
He looked at me trying to judge if my words were true or not. “Have you two not talked on that matter before?” he asked.
“Oh we have of course we have, but still it is for the best since it is only years before I shall not be able to talk with mother on these matters.”
“Of course then,” he said turning to leave, “I do ask thought that for the midday meal you are dressed in the corrected garments. I will have some guest over.”
“Of course father.” I said with a slight pause, “Is it about the girl?”
He turned looking coldly at me “How do you know such things?” he said his voice harsh.
“Father the servants talk and I hear what they say. That is all.”
“How silly of me not to think about that.” Distrust still in his voice
“Husband and daughter, how you?” my mother questioned coming up behind me.
“Well my wife. It is time for me to depart for I should not keep you from your talk any longer,” he said as the candles dimed and shadows covered him.
“Come inside the room Blue.” My mother said placing her hand on my shoulder.
Once she had closed the door and checked for anyone unwelcomed, she asked “Blue have you talked to her yet?”
“Yes mother the first night in I told her of how I would break her out.”
“Good. When do you plan to get her out?”
“Tonight when everyone is asleep.”
“Good. How do you plan to get her out?”
“Red has guarded tonight. And Somnium will leave two horse out.”
“Okay. Honey be careful.”
“I will.”
“Blue, you, and that girl have to make it to the rebellion. You are the this worlds last hope for peace.”
“I won’t fail. I can’t.”
“To much is riding on you.”
“I know, the fate of this world has been on my shoulders since she was born.
I blinked back a tear. As my mother hugged me goodbye possibly forever.
I walked making my way to the training fields as thought it was any other day. Knowing it would be years before I could return home when I did leave.
“Blue you’re late.” My trainer yelled across the field.
“Sorry, I had to have a world with my mother.”
“Did you now?”
“Yes it was just a talk.” I said stopping in front of him.
“Blue.” He whispered
I looked up into his stunning indigo eyes that had grown cold like winter ice knowing that I was not telling him something. After countless long minutes, he finally spoke “I’ve worked with you since you were four years old. Do you really think so little of my knowledge that you choose to hide something from me?”
“Dustan as I recall you were only six. And no, I know how wise you are, but you have to report to my father. It’s your job.”
He looked at me studying me, “Blue Alexandra Sky Daughter of Black Seth Sky and White Carina Sky sister to Red Rex Sky. My loyalty is to you. Not your father. Or by now, he would know of your skills with sword and your tactical brilliance. You would most likely be dead by now if he was the one who held my loyalty.” Then he leaned to my ear and whispered, “Blue Sky I have known for years that you will betray your father.”
I looked at him my shock evident on my face then I hugged him.

He laughed. “Now, now girl the servants are staring there be rumors going around within the hour.”
I laughed at that. “All of you get back to work.” I yelled
“I keep forgetting how young you are. Only 25 years old. Eight when your father started to train me. ”
“you keep forgetting my age because I’m a cold hearted S.o.B.”
At that, I just about died laughing. I looked at him, “I’m going to get the half born out Dust.”
He looked at me his eyes showed the fear that his face did not, “no that’s very dangers, and that is not okay. I’m going to talk to your mother.”
“I take care of myself. You said it yourself I’m one of the best tacticians and fighters out there.”
“It has nothing to do with your skills. You’re my friend. I’m over protective.”
“Dustan Hera, I don’t care what you say tonight I am going to get that girl as far away from this place as I can.”
“Not without me your not.”
I turned and looked at him “Fine you can come.”
“Good. Now go it’s almost time for the midday meal and your father will most certainly not be pleased if you show up dressed like that.”
“Okay.” I said sprinting back to the castle, just before entering I looked back at the boy I had known since childhood. Thinking about how to leaving him behind.
“Blue.” Red called walking up to me.
“Hey Red.”
“Blue you’re not planning on coming to the midday meal dressed like that are you?”
“no I was just heading to my room to wash and change.”
“Okay good. Father would have a fit if you came to the meal not properly dressed or washed.”
“Walk with me.”
“Okay.”
“Red do you know who father has invited to the meal?”
“Not really all I know is that they are experts on Anamis and Sky’s. they are suppose to do something with the half born in the morning run so type of test or something.”
“Okay. Good so I don’t have to change my plan.”
“Red I need you to tell her that tonight is the night.”
“Okay sis.” He said stopping short of my door.
“Go on now I have to get ready.”
My lady’s maid met me at the door. “My lady your bath is ready. And your gown is on the bed.”
“Good.” I said quietly
I dressed and left for the midday meal. My day going slowly, but finally it was time to break the girl out. Night had fallen and silence filled the castle. I made my way to the dungeon slipping down the stairs until I heard the voice of the soldiers left to stay up at night to ensure that none of the prisoners escaped. Within the hour, they all sounded drunk and tired, then at last not one voice was heard.
“Okay. Blue they’re out cold.” Red called
“Good. Come on let’s get her out of here.” I advised. As I turned the corner to come face to face with Dustan Hera.
“Forget about me princess?” Dustan taunted
“Of course not Dustan. No matter how much I want to.” I retorted
“Now now little princess no need to get snappy with me.”
“Can you guys flirt another time?” red cut in, “we have some work to do.”
“Fine.” We agreed.
Quickly we made our way to the cell were Pyrro was being kept.
“Open it up Red she’s most likely began to go nutty.”
“Isn’t that a good reason not to open it?” Dustan asked
“Shut up,” I whispered, “open it.”
“fine.” Red replied reluctantly
The door opened to reveal Pyrro.

I really shouldn't be reading this, but I guess I need a break from nano anyway.

Good moorning and welcome to BW!

Since this is just a beginning and I'm not familiar with your style yet, I don't have much to say. The messed-up apostrophes were really distracting to me, however; you might want to fix that before posting the next part. Beyond that, just keep an eye on sentence structure, don't forget to punctuate, etc.

I am rather intrigued by your story so far; there are a lot of places you could take it, and I'll be interested to see what happens next.
