Prologue:

Cloaked in the red of his blood, I fell to my knees. "No... Why did this happen? Please... Halidro, please answer me." I let out a scream which pearced the night. The beast had fled, leaving my Halidro's body lieing in the silence of the darkness. What went wrong? We were prepared for the worst, and yet the worst happened. Chaberu rested his hand lightly apon my shoulder. "I'm sorry... Narelye, I truely am..." <Why is it that people always appologise at times like these? Do they not understand the pain that I could be going through?> Such thoughts ran through my mind, but were near immediately blanketed by my despair. I turned myself away from the image, soon to replay within my nightmares. My darkest fears had been both realised, and had come true within the same hour. Apon standing, I felt a wave of nausia rise from my stomach. Feeling as though I may vomit, I slowly left the scene, following the last member of my party.

We had been searching for a great treasure within the deepest cave of Ganjura, after hearing a rumor of a great beast within. This beast was said to be guarding many items, and would add to it's collection each night. It had been decided between my husband and I, that we would find such a treasure. This would of course, not end well. Our friend Chaberu, apon hearing of such a rumor had known without a doubt what would, and had ran through our minds and so, he accompanied us. From our hometown of Gwenlo, we set off through the plains of Setru, making our way east toward the town of Nabril. in a matter of 3 days of hard treking, we had arrived and had stayed for one night, and one night only, though the food I must admit, had been delicious. The next morning, we set off once more, and heading south toward Ganjura. Within two days, we reached the cave, and at once set off with burning torch at hand, into the near endless black. The beast had made it's home deep in the depths of the cave. As soon as we had found it, we could not help but cower from behind a large boulder, yet gaze in greedy delight at the sight which held our eyes for many a moment. Before I could begin to describe my plan, Halidro had unsheathed his sword, and was running toward the beast. It reared back it's head, unleashing a mighty roar which shaked the entirity of the cavern, causing enormous chunks of rock to exchange places from the ceiling to the floor. Halidro had just managed to make it through in one piece, and with that we ran.

As we reached the entrance to the cave, we heard that bone chilling roar once again, and before we knew what was happening, the creature was apon us. Managing to evade the first swipe of it's claws, the three of us took haste, almost flying through the entrance, and out into the light. Dark clouds had covered the mornings blue sky, and as such, it was hard to see what would happen next. Halidro, with sword unsheathed, ran once again at the creature, screaming with an anger that would surely be heard by Luna herself. The beast dove forward, claws outstretched, but my husband ducked and rolled underneath, swiping furiously at the monsters belly, but... He had not seen the tail. In seconds it was over, as the long spike apon the creatures tail, tore right through Halidro, and swung him over toward us. "NOOOO!" I screamed, and automatically ran toward his body. The creature, somehow sensing my grief, had retreated back into it's cave. And so, as I held his dieing body tight, I felt his last breath of life, softly flow through my hair.

Why had this happened? It's simple... We let our desires free, and payed the price. From that day forth, I vowed never to be unprepared, never to let my greed get the better of me, and most of all. Never to fall in love, ever again.
