A lot of TokyoPop's translations are shit, supposedly. A lot of humor is lost, as well as some of the meaning when it's "Americanized", so to speak. From what I hear, some company called Del Ray or something has the best translations, since they're a big book company and aren't really losing anything if their readers don't understand some of the jokes in the manga. That's the people who translated Negima, I believe. |
