ah but the technology that exists now... think of it. Strap a helmet and ear-protection onto a fox's head, tie a shotgun on there too, and have some sort of bit between their teeth that if they chew correctly, fires the gun.
 admittedly, reloading will be an issue, but that's for the boffins to figure out
