1. No flaming. This is defined as insulting, ridiculing or teasing others for the purpose of putting down another member. Creative criticism is one thing, as is a bit of teasing among friends. But if the recipient takes offense, we categorise it as flaming. 2. No spamming. This includes posting short posts with no point, double posting, creating duplicate threads or driving a thread completely off topic. In the last case, a member of the mod team will direct the thread back on topic after a few off topic posts. Any off topic posts after that will be deleted and the offending members punished. Members who are interested in discussing something off topic should just make a new thread. We will have one thread in general discussion purely for spamming. There people can spam to their hearts content without consequence. 3. No racist, sexist or anti-religious comments. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing which we wholeheartedly encourage. But not here. If you feel oppressed by the idea that you can't spout a whole lot of small-minded bigotry, you can leave. 4. Do not create multiple accounts. If you are caught with more than one account, the extra accounts will be deleted and your original account will also face punishment. Impersonating another member is considered no different to possessing multiple accounts. Collusion between members to circumvent a punishment results in the second account receiving a warning. 5. No "rebels". If you feel the need to post frequently that this place is badly run and you feel you could do a much better job, you can go and create your own board. Frankly, it would be a much better way of showing us how superior you are than to get punished for acting like an idiot. 6. No links to, posting of or advertising of illegal downloads. Everyone knows a lot of people do it, and our stance on the matter is unimportant. Promoting it is against Invision rules and so it is against the board rules. 7. No links to, posting of or advertising of pornography. Once again, Invision rules prohibit it, so we do, too. 8. Asking to be made a moderator is the perfect way to ensure you will never become one. If we want you to become a member of the mod team, we will come to you. 9. Remain active. Activity is counted as having posted within the last two months. Members who are inactive get their group changed, and a warning is sent out periodically. Staff members who are inactive get their rights removed and put into the same group. Staff do not get their rights back automatically. Consequences The penalty is always the same, regardless of which rule you break. Someone who flames will receive equal punishment with someone who spams or someone who creates multiple accounts. We operate under the 3 strike system. The first time you break a rule, you will receive a caution. We acknowledge that no one is perfect and we do not seek to drive someone away just because of carelessness. The second time you break a rule, you will be banned for one week. This allows for a "cooling off" period where you can choose to learn from your mistake or not. If you break the rules again after that, you will be banned permanently. There is no parole system, no rehabilitation. Our concern is protecting the members of the board who came to have fun and not cause trouble. ************************************************** |
