Actually, Warner Bros just told him to write a script for it. After he did so, they told him to tone it down so it could be "a family film". And he told them to take a hike...So technically, it didn't start out as one, WB just try to force it on them rather early. Whether they intended it immediately or not, the writer wasn't given those instructions until after he wrote the script as requested

they didn't know??? Doom's one of the bloodiest games of all time! The genre 'first-person shooter' should have given them a clue... it'd be like putting out an Alien vs Predator movie at anything other than an 18 rating! It just wouldn't happen!! o, wait, they already did that... <_< |

Remember the quote "All that is required for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing." Production companies seeking to bring down the rating of movies like Doom and AVP are the perfect example of that. Although the evil has already been commited on AVP, I'm glad there will be a reprieve with the director's cut coming out soon enough. And the good men stood up to the evil with Doom and said "No longer!! No longer shall the evil executives rob the poor huddled masses of their right to witness acts of gratuitous violence!!"

someone should do it, and it's about time.... You quite clearly can't make these movies without focussing on what sold the games, or the original the others are based on... it's common sense. Well, I guess we are talking about marketing people here... |

forget it... i am not watching this piece of shit then... i can see another "tomb raider" movie coming up Doom Cast: Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, The Rock, Dhobi Oparei, Ben Daniels, Razaaq Adoti, Richard Brake, Al Weaver, Yao Chin & Ian Hughes i only know rosamund pike.. she is from the james bond movie "die another day" i think her name was miranda frost... that bitch who was backstabbed bond.. |

Well, Karl Urban I can vouch for. He's a solid actor and has done a relatively good job in the roles I've seen him in. He played Eomer in Lord of the Rings, the bad guy in the Bourne Supremacy and one of the bad guys in Chronicles of Riddick. Even when the plot's been a little weak, he's still pulled off a good performance, so if Doom screws up, it won't be because of him. Here's to hoping I didn't just jinx it for him
