It's getting way too much airtime and it's all based on pretty much the same thing. Girls, sex, drugs, girls...butts (WTF?) And then there's the other rap or R&B based on how your "girlie" or your "baby daddy" "done left you". My opinion is that these people need to work out their personal problems on their own, just like everyone else, and then make music that the general public can enjoy. I have yet to see a popular rap based on things such as political issues or enjoying life decently. Rock, on the other hand, covers all these topics. From the election and hating Bush, to getting drugs on 54th Street. There's a style in rock for everyone. That is why I like it. Anyone else have an opinion?

I myself, used to listen to rap until G-Unit came along. They just killed the whole genre for me. As for rumors of Rock being dead; As long as there are SOME people that like it, it's not dead. As long as rock bands keep making cd's, Rock is not dead. People focus too much on what other people like. Like me for example; Whenever I hear my brother listening to Emo/Punk, I kick him in the shins until they bleed. The majority of asshole dj's, however, like rap and punk rock. It's just the way things go. People just try to make a statement with there music. Rap's statement is just overplayed and repetitive (Guns, Ho's, Drugs, etc.) Just as Punk Rock's is (Screaming in the same annoying voice about Anarchy, Mohawks, and skateboarding, etc.). Sorry...Rant.

I knew was rap before "Gangsta"(who the HELL came up with that name?) rap came along. A good rap group is Atmosphere. They're more focused on issues with society and make it sound good, too. Unless your brother is acting in a poser fashion (which I assume he does if you kick him) then he is going in the right direction. Anarchy (which I do practice in SOME sense, but not for most part) is often associated with punk because a lot of punk bands have an attitude of "Leave us the hell alone and we won't mess with you", but it is those same bands who have an attitude of "We love to have fun" and "Everyone is an equal". If you've ever seen a punk tour, no one has an ego EXCEPT the posers, and any posers immediately stand out. Everyone is treated with equal respect, from the big bands, to the little bands, to the drink servers, to the janitors. (And of course, the fans) At a punk show there is no last, there is no least. The only band I've seen that acts egotistic is the Yuppie Pricks, but they just ACT that way for the attention. Besides, they're rich as screw and could care less what everyone else could think of them. As far as Mohawks and skateboarding... Mohawks are most commonly worn by hardcore punkers, but not by the general punk audience, and who doesn't like to see videos of people bailing on skateboards, dude? Come on, it's funny. You have to at least see that if you've never seen a skateboard competition. I have included a list of Punk/Ska songs that you could listen to that AREN'T about Anarchy, Mohawks, OR skateboarding: Bad Religion-Better of Dead Nerf Herders- Mr. Spock Social Distortion- Reach for the Sky Goober Patrol- Watch Us Drown Brand New-Sic Transit Glory Aquabats- Red Sweater! Aquabats- The Cat With Two Heads (This song is kinda creepy/funny) Total Chaos- Baby, I Hate You Nicotine- Baby One More Time (Remake of the Brittany Spears song, though this one is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better. Not as gay.) Vision- Close Minded Mephiskaphelis- Dooms Day The Vandals- Don't Stop Me Now (Remake of Queen song. Very good) Sum 41- Over My Head (Better off Dead) [Better off Dead is part of the song title.) Sum 41- We're All to Blame Pennywise- God Save the U.S.A (This is not a cheesy terrorist song, and has VERY little to do with ANYTHING about 9/11) Authority Zero- Everyday (Very cool song) NOFX- Separation of the Church and Skate (Nothing to do with skateboarding. More about Punk Rock and why is it starting to get f***ed up) Maybe some of these will change your mind, maybe not, but Punk is my preferred rock. I can't stand commercial (music you hear on MTV and the radio) rock like Seether and Good Charlotte (However the name is spelled.)

The song was called "Zombies are good for your health". I was qute dissapointed when I found out that the song had NOTHING to do with zombies. My brother listens to Thursday Matchbook Romance(?) The Starting Line Taking Back Sunday I don't want to go on. They all just sound the same. I believe that there is one punk song that I love with all of my being. I have no idea as to what it's called, but I know it's by "Goldfinger". I swear, some of these fads are just SOOOO bad. My brother was in some teenage emo band called "Death By Romance" They sucked, hard. I myself am in a band. We have the most kickass music and name ever. "White Guys Jumping" is what we're called. My songs are about kids that smell like piss, and acne of the ass. I don't listen to music on the radio/MTV because I don't like it, not because I'm rebelling against mainstream music. Rebellion is a weak attempt at standing out. And what do people wear mohawks for anyway? What makes someone so rebellious as to get a mohawk? What are you rebelling against? Common decency? Yeah, I do actually enjoy waching a skating video every now and then. I particularly like seeing someone trying to grind a pole, falling, and landing on his nuts. And here'sa something else that I hate more than Punk; That screamy kind of Metal. I mean, why? NOt only is your music loud and obnoxious, but so are your lyrics and voices. Bands like this are - Slipknot Mushroomhead Hatebreed Insane Clown Posse I just...Can't...Stand it.
