The Blue Screen of Death is by far the most recognized feature of
the Windows (tm) operating system, and as a result, Microsoft has
historically insisted on total control over its look-and-feel. This recent
departure from that policy reflects Microsoft's recognition of the Windows
desktop itself as the "ultimate information portal." By default, the new
BSOD will be configured to show a random selection of Microsoft product
information whenever the system crashes. Microsoft channel partners can
negotiate with Microsoft for the right to customize the BSOD on systems
they ship.

Well they kinda solved the blue screen of death in Windows XP (TM thingie).
First you've got to deactivate the option that when the BSD comes that the pc will restart directly.

eh? when the blue screen appears the machine will restart directly?

no, it stays there til you turn the computer off. Otherwise you don't have a chance to read it

That's why I was wondering all those restarts when I first got my hands on that crazy machine (see your PC thread). If you've just installed XP (Or fresh bought..) The box should be checked so that if there's a blue screen of death it will do a 'small memory dump' (you can read the error here too...) and then restart. If you uncheck the box it will not restart.

If it does restart windows should say that it recovered from a serious error (ow did windows removed itself??) it will ask you if you would like to send a raport file to microsoft, you can read the error in that file too.

Hello, Peaches. We deliberated long and hard on this one. Well, hinarei and Silver deliberated, I just waited for the go-ahead to ban you. It's a shame you just couldn't catch on to the new rules. We'll miss you, Peaches, we truly will :)

Oh, and if you want to bitch, hinarei's the man to bitch to.

only problem I have with Macs is that it's not very easy to get spare parts... everything has to be 'sent back to Apple for repair' <_<

That and the price of course ^_^

Yeah, there are other places you can read the error, but I thought you said that when there was a blue screen it rebooted straight away ><

Even on the 6< years old PC of mine which shouldn't be able to run Windows XP it 'looks' like instant reboot. It actually does quite a lot of things but you won't notice it then.

Actually, I used to get that, too. Was annoying because you couldn't tell what went wrong. It just up and restarted on you. But I haven't gotten the blue screen of death or had my computer restart on me in years. For some reason my current PC runs really stable
