What are some of the solutions to BioDiesel's Weakness? Short Answer: Bio-Oils need a refrigerator tank and consistency Long Answer: One of the main problems with biodiesel is its inconsistency. With variation in the ratio of biodiesel to regular diesel, consumer confidence slumps. "Splash blending" is the term specialists use to describe the process of mixing the two fuels. Many things can go wrong when using this unscientific procedure. Human error is the most obvious. The fact that biodiesel is thicker and heavier than regular diesel means it is inherently difficult to mix since biodiesel settles to the bottom. To combat this problem, the employees at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusettes believe a national standardization program with some teeth will help consumers see what they are getting when they buy biodiesel. Using an old tool for a new purpose, radio carbon dating will accurately measure the ratio of bio- to nonbiofuel in a given container. As an added benefit to a more consistent tank of fuel, the radiocarbon machine will let researcher know the benefits of using biofuels as a way to combat carbon dioxide emissions. Biodiesel enthusiasts developed a possible solution using the exact opposite approach. Instead of mixing the bio- and nonbiofuels, they keep them separate and use diesel fuel to start and stop the engine, and biofuel in between. This method is similar to what antique tractors did back in the day when they used a light fuel to warm the engine and a heavy fuel to keep it going. As for keeping oxygen out of the fuel system, something as simple as making sure the vehicle is always topped off would make for less air in the tank. Although the future looks clear and bright, be conservative if you have a brand-new vehicle with a warranty. If you have an old truck or car, weigh your options. With the price of fuel, not taking the risk with biodiesel might spell trouble. "Some fuel lines are not made to handle biodiesel and will get soft, spongy, and leaky if not replaced with lines able to withstand biodiesel". Published by: Diesel Power Mags. So that means, we should stick to Hydrogen in fuel cell? Because Honda is selling those products today. Dunno the price. But I'm saying that B100 isn't 100% accurate since it's not in the market like Honda Hydrogen is. |

WTF, Utah gas is highest in the nation right now. We are still at $4.19 a gallon while everyone else has gone down. California should always be more money than us. |

uhh, sorry awakening, ur deeply mistaken, NYC is #1 expensive gas in whole USA... its stand $4.55, while right outside of NJ, Newark it is $4.35 average... The state charge it highest tax on the gas, therefore forcing us to use a public transportation, such as metro, than rather using cars daily... ~Riski~[redit][/redit] Edited by iMaster_Toker, Aug 21 2008, 04:15 PM.

I said that wrong. I meant among the highest in the nation. We are well above national average, but usually we are right at the average. |

lowest in calif is 3.85, but remember, calif has probably the most gas stations in nation for its length of driving. From San Diego to Crescent City, it's about 13 hours maybe more due to traffic/construction/accidents. So what I'm saying is we also have the highest price and the lowest price. 7.25 for Diesel at the highest price 4.05 for Diesel at the lowest price 4.85 for Premium at the highest 3.85 for Regular at the lowest |

NYC isn't the highest cause transportation isn't based on only cars. People use trains, buses, taxis, trolleys, and bikes. Even by foot, they transport. Do you see, NYC is of many methods of transportations. BUT CALIFORNIA, HAWAII, ALASKA, AND UTAH DON'T HAVE THAT LUXURY, CARS ARE MOST USED IN THOSE STATES. SO TADA. GO SCREW A LAMB, YOU GOAT. |

ur a dumbass Dylan, in NYC, its #1 richest people goin to work for business, and living there in manhatten, by the # of percents of rich people living in USA, NYC is #2 place for rich peeps goin there, therefore they drive their luxury rides, as bigass SUV, Benz, BMW, Jauger and etc... ofc if u arent such a moron, you'll realized they all have v-8 and plus more higher, Benz rides topp is v-12 and there alot of it in Manhatten. They rather to use a soft rides than in public dont give u that kind of luxury, which rich people want... get it now? sigh... I though u got common sense, seems not... however #1 place is in New Jeresy. Yes the NYC is has many methods of transportations, but the rich people isnt using it. that what spoiled the gas price... in Manhatten there a gas station supercharge $5 dollar per gallon. Only in Manhatten. ~Riski~ |

WillieRun ’08 Going Coast to Coast Without Stopping for Fuel Written by Jaymi Heimbuch Thursday, 21 August 2008 "On September 22, two guys in a biodiesel-drinking Jetta are going to drive from Midtown Manhattan to Los Angeles without ever stopping for fuel. And they’re going to do it in two days. The Jetta is equipped with a primary tank and a second high-capacity tank…as in, a giant extra tank…and the Bio Willie brand biodiesel put in the tank in Manhattan is expected to get them all the way to LA. The whole point of WillieRun ’08 is to draw attention to the fact that there are other options out there for fuel efficiency than hybrids. Biodiesel is great in that a little bit goes a long way because of the energy density, and it is carbon neutral. However, there is still the notion of using food for fuel, since biodiesel often comes from corn or soy. But, we know there are several potential ways to get around this, using non-food-based feedstock for biodiesel. Considering biodiesel is a whole lot better than gas, it’d awesome to be able to get from one end of the states to the other without having to stop for refills. We think it’s a pretty cool publicity stunt and if it hits the mainstream, will accomplish the goal of the creators. If you also think it’s a cool idea, you might be able to get in on the action for next year’s race." Source This sounds awesome and fun. I can't wait to hear more and see how it goes. Link also includes video, and supporting articles. |

Ochspelar, they all go to work in NYC, but they live at Mass, Conn, and New Jersey, not all rich peeps wanna buy a home in skyscrapper, they want a house lol... make sense of why they have SUV, and big luxury rides from there to arriving manhatten for work, and the gas station in manhatten is waitin to ripp rich people off, smart job for gas workers in manhatten lol.. Comparing living a skyscrapper, and a house, skyscrapper is good for independence people, such as living alone or just couple... while for a house, a family can be raise, not in skyscrapper... ~Riski~ |
