PORTER GOES OFF ON PATRIOTS Posted by Mike Florio on November 23, 2008, 1:11 p.m. In an interview aired last hour during ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter teed off on the Patriots and the cheating scandal that was disclosed last year. The following partial transcript has been forwarded to us by ESPN. Keyshawn Johnson: Let’s switch to the New England Patriots game. Is there a big difference in that rivalry of the Miami Dolphins, New England, and Pittsburgh-New England? Joey Porter: Yeah, it’s a big difference . . . but I still got hate from when I was at Pittsburgh. Keyshawn: Why? Porter: Because I got cheated. Keyshawn: Cheated in what? Porter: In both of them AFC championship games. Keyshawn: What did they do? Porter: Come on, man. They’ve been videotaping for years, man. You cannot sit up there and honestly tell me if it wasn’t working, why was he doing it so much? You’re not going to sit up there and tell me if I’m a quarterback in my headset I know where the blitz is coming. I know where my hots and stuff is at before it happens. I know what play you’re running on defense. All you got to do is be in the right position . . . just catch the ball. Keyshawn: So you feel they were cheating. You don’t feel they were just the better team? Porter: What? No, no, no, no. Two times we could have blown them people out easily. They say, oh, he’s so smart. This is the best brainstorming coach. Yeah, because he’s cheating. He got caught. . . . If it wasn’t so bad, why did you destroy the tape so fast? . . . We want to see the tapes. When you get rid of evidence like that, there was something in it they didn’t want everybody to see. Keyshawn: So you take it personally? Porter: Man. . . . That’s my dynasty. You know what I mean? I could be sitting up here with three rings. This is the way I look at it. I played three AFC Championships — won one, lost two. . . . Yeah, to me just like they want to put an asterisk on everything else, yeah, I don’t care what they say. They have an asterisk on them. . . . At the same time, people that played against them on the field, we know. Who they got on that team beside Tom Brady? It’s not like they’ve got a gang of dogs over there. . . . They have a bunch of all right guys. You know what I mean? Not no just real dogs. They’ve got some beasts on the D line and stuff like that but . . . . Keyshawn: You can’t possibly think, three Super Bowls. . . . You think they cheated in every single one of them games? Porter: Man, I’m going to tell you, I’m taking that to the grave, man. I don’t care what nobody say. . . . Keyshawn: What about last year? . . . All the glamour, glitz and glamour, 16-0. You think they were cheating then? Porter: I don’t know. You know, I don’t know. . . . Maybe he found a new way to do it or not to tell you the truth. The boy cold, man. He showed us, he’s cold. The boy cold, man. Hey, the boy cold, man. He showed us man, he cold. . . . I don’t trust him. In fairness to the Patriots, numerous news reports have indicated that other teams and coaches videotaped defensive coaching signals over the years. And a 1967 article from Sport magazine made it clear that spying and skullduggery is a fact of life in the NFL. Also, there is no rule against stealing defensive signals without the use of electronic recording equipment. Now that a defensive player has a radio receiver in his helmet, defensive signals are less important than they used to be. "I am Riski, and I approved this message" ~Riski~ |

Official Blog of the National Football League Home « Injury update: Vasher, Clark leave for BearsCarucci: Dolphins had no answer for Cassel »News George: Are Jets for real? Posted: News | NFL.com Staff | Tags: New York Jets, Tennessee Titans (John Russell / Associated Press) Thomas George reports from the Jets-Titans game. Check back later for his complete column: NASHVILLE — Match the physical, brute nature of Tennessee’s overall game. Check. Score early and force the Titans to do more in the passing game with quarterback Kerry Collins. Check. Strangle the Titans running game. Check. Do not let special teams on their end dramatically decide the game. Check. And can we get a touch of creativity in the approach, especially offensively? Double check. That was the Jets’ blueprint today. And when completed, the previously undefeated Titans were held in total check. The Jets won here, 34-13, before a packed crowd at LP Field that had not seen their team smacked around like this. Not in the way the Jets built leads of 7-0 and 10-3 and 20-3 en route to a 27-6 advantage in the fourth quarter. Even when the Titans scored quickly and moved to within two touchdowns in the final quarter, the Jets continued to create answers and implement them. The final dagger was a 12-play, 75-yard drive. Leon Washington capped it with a 4-yard touchdown run with 2:09 remaining. Of course, Washington had already ripped 61 yards through the Titans defense for an earlier fourth-quarter rushing score that punctuated just how superior the Jets were on this day. Brett Favre played a smart, nit-picking game where he kept finding receivers on quick crossing routes and slants. The Jets defense was motivated and active, as effective deep on the back end where safety Kerry Rhodes roamed as it was up front where nose tackle Kris Jenkins dominated. Thus, we saw the Jets grow from their recent victory over nemesis New England. The Jets played this game as if the tallest mountain had already been climbed and as if the Titans were just another team. The Jets’ confidence was evident in everything they did today to climb to an 8-3 record and remain atop the AFC East. Tennessee is 10-1, the last of the unbeaten teams to fall this season. For the Jets, a huge accomplishment that indicates how much could lie in store. For the Titans, a huge reality check and sober reminder that not only are they not perfect, but they are susceptible to being manhandled like this at home. |

3D FOOTBALL GETTING CLOSER TO REALITY Posted by Mike Florio on November 24, 2008, 9:08 p.m. Back in April, Peter King of SI.com raised the possibility of NFL games being shown in 3D, via a company owned in part by David Modell, son of former Browns/Ravens owner Art Modell. Next week’s Thursday night game between the Chargers and the Raiders will be presented via 3ality Digital’s technology at theaters in three different cities — L.A., New York, and Boston. “We want to demonstrate this and let people get excited about it and see what the future holds,” said Howard Katz, the NFL’s senior V.P. of broadcasting and media operations. The future could be so bright that everyone will be wearing 3D shades. As we observed in April, not longer after seeing 3ality Digital’s production of U23D: “Forget Europe; this could be the next frontier for the NFL – on 17 Sundays (and Monday nights) in the fall and four more in January and February, theaters throughout the U. S. of A. could be flooded by football fans anxious to plunk down money to see NFL football in a far more intimate and specific way than they could, even if they were actually at the game.” |

LEAGUE HAS PLAN FOR JETS, GIANTS HOME TITLE GAMES Posted by Mike Florio on November 26, 2008, 9:07 a.m. Per ESPN’s SportsCenter, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told WFAN radio on Tuesday that, if the Jets and the Giants both host the championship games for their respective conferences, one game would be played on Sunday night, and the other game would be played on Monday night. It makes senses; there’s no way that both games could be played on the same day. And with two weeks until the Super Bowl, there’s no real advantage or disadvantage to playing on Sunday or on Monday. What also makes sense, frankly, is adopting this format regardless of whether both games will be played in the same venue. The league gradually has been nudging postseason games toward prime time; why not transform the AFC and NFC title games into a two-night extravaganza? Our guess is that the league might be willing to put this possibility on the table when the time comes to renegotiate the broadcasting contracts. Since the networks will be able to make more money via ad sales, they’d theoretically be willing to fork over more cash for the broader package. |

MARA KNOWS HE CAN'T KO FANS' SHOWDOWN DREAMS Comments: 4Read Comments Leave a Comment TALK OF THE TOWN: Brandon Jacobs and the 10-1 Giants have the city thinking about a Jets-Giants Super Bowl. Giants co- owner John Mara (inset) wouldn't mind that, but knows such dreams are premature. Last updated: 7:57 am November 26, 2008 Posted: 2:23 am November 26, 2008 HIS first instinct was to worry about the logistics, leading to the predictable concerns of a high-ranking executive. WHAT'S UP: NFC (PHOTOS) GIANTS IN POWER RANKINGS "That in a sense would be a nightmare, to have a Giants-JetsNew York Jets Super Bowl," John Mara yesterday said to The Post. "You know how many angry ticket holders there would be, thinking, and probably rightfully so, that they were entitled to go to the game and you wouldn't be able to have them at the game?" Mara was then reminded that any all-New York Super Bowl ensured his Giants of making the big game for the second consecutive year. "I'm amused by it, but I'm trying not to pay too much attention to it," said Mara, the GiantsNew York Giants co-owner. "But that's all anybody wants to ask you about." Every time Mara tries to get out he gets dragged back in. Last season for the Giants was made for dreamers. The reality they are fashioning this time around is a true-to-life depiction of a powerhouse team infused with confidence and the spirit of togetherness, a tough combination to beat. So far the Giants have done everything right. They were lousy the past two years at home and rectified the situation by going 6-0 at Giants Stadium. They dispelled any fear of a Super Bowl hangover by rushing out to a 4-0 start. They ensured there would be none of that "Can they go unbeaten?" talk that burdened the Titans with a clunker in Cleveland, the best kind of loss - against a non-conference opponent. And now, with expectations soaring and praise running rampant, the Giants are in the desirable position of not being the city's hot football story, a designation they gladly hand off to the Jets. The Giants are 10-1 and, incredibly, the buzz is louder about Brett Favre and the possibilities in the AFC than of the impending clinching of the rugged NFC East. That could come as early as Sunday with a victory over the Redskins - if the Seahawks upset the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Is it the Giants who after 11 games take the mantle of "Best team in the league" from the Titans, who were 10-0 before the Jets manhandled them in Nashville. What that gets the defending Super Bowl champions is not much. "Everywhere I go [a Giants-Jets Super Bowl] is what people are talking about and people just have such short memories," Mara said. "There's so much that can happen over the last five weeks of the season. If we had even dared to talk about the Super Bowl a year ago today we would have been laughed right out of the stadium." Only it was no laughing matter. The Giants exactly one year ago yesterday fell to 7-4 after Eli ManningEli Manning threw four interceptions - an absurd three of them were returned for touchdowns - in an embarrassing 41-17 loss to the Vikings that got the home team booed out of Giants Stadium. "Everybody had doubts," Mara said. "Listen, I had some doubts myself about what kind of team we could be after that game. I was praying we'd get into the playoffs." No one will ever forget what happened once they did, proving how suddenly fate and fortunes can change. That's for the coaching staff and players to sort out while fans envision the Giants and Jets in February battling it out in Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, which would shake up that American tradition like never before. "I was in the city on Friday," Mara said, "and a police officer recognized me and said 'Hey, Giants-Jets Super Bowl, what do you think?' I just said 'We'll see, we'll see.' Everywhere people are talking about that. There's just too much that can happen. Every time that happens, too, something goes wrong, like the next week. That's why I wish everybody would just shut up about it. To me the less said about it, the better." You don't however, say "shut up" to His Honor. "Even the mayor, I got invited to a dinner at [Michael Bloomberg's] private residence last Tuesday, that's what he wanted to talk about too," Mara said, before adding "And that was before [the Jets] beat Tennessee!" |

Jeez, ever since I left and stop typing a new messages and informations updates on Clanrnr.com.... They had been dead for awhile, and I'm back to get it up and running around like Frenzy =) I'm doin this for Awakening, even though he just blindside by Dylan's goat often, but I'm willing to forget that. This is a Whole new NFL seasons which many NFL teams have a chances to get their best draft players to improve their seasons... The Best Draft Picked award goes to - The New York Jets. 1st - 5th overall picks trade to Jets for 1st - 17th pick, 2nd round, and 3 players, which is QB Brett Ratliff, DE Coleman, and SS Elam... Why? Here why, The Jets 3 days mini camps with their previous current QBs were Ratliff and Clemens, which Ratliff didn't look so well and had 3 Ints, so the Jets needed to bring another QBs to challenge and can make a better choice of who our future QB. Coleman was okay average DE, but we have Gholston that is DE type from Ohio State, and will take over that position instead of being Hybrid LB which Mangini fail terribly at. We didn't need Elam after we sign Jim Leonard from Balitmore SS at free agents signing, so we didn't actually lose alot, but only 2nd pick... Those 3 players wouldn't have chance of 1st string, so therefore its a insane best deal done on BOTH sides needs, however Jets get upper hands =) Riski |

Raiders’ Heyward-Bey Pick Ripped Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 25, 2009, 6:35 p.m. The Oakland Raiders immediately drew sharp criticism for drafting speedy, inconsistent University of Maryland wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, including a few jabs from Todd McShay of ESPN. Heyward-Bey is the fastest player in the draft with a 4.30 time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. However, Heyward-Bey displayed shaky hands for the Terrapins and would often double-catch the football or drop passes in the open field. He never produced on a consistent basis and was projected to be drated in the latter half of the first round. “Speed once again blinded Al Davis from seeing all other flaws,” Don Banks of SI.com wrote. “Heyward-Bey ran faster than any other pass-catcher at the NFL combine in February, but plenty of personnel men within the league told me they wouldn’t take him high because of his unreliable hands, and that he absolutely disappeared in far too many of his collegiate games. … “What’s that oft-quoted definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Kind of sounds like the Raiders’ drafts of recent vintage to me.” Obviously, Heyward-Bey will have a lot to prove in Oakland along with plenty of motivation to do so. ________________________________________________ As long Al Davis still running as GM, the Raiders will often sputter, and will barely or never make it to playoff, its kinda sad. I'm hoping that this year, Al Davis will realized how idiot he been picking for his team and starting next year, he will let his damn GM do the picks... Sorry for all those Raiders fan. Riski |
