See this page? Notice what it's lacking? Images! Don't worry, there will be a contest coming up soon, and YOUR lineart of a wher can go HERE, with credit to you! This is one of the pages that needs to be updated for the Site Opening Event Gold Rank: Queen Length: 15-17 ft Height: 25-27 hands Fertility: Fertile; 12 or less eggs Personality: Temperamental, Leaders, Strong Build: Built muscularly, to a human, there is nothing feminine about a Gold wher, even when compared to a Gold dragon. These beasts take all the ugliness ever bred into them and put it out as a plate of armor. Usually firmly built and well balanced, Golds are made for speed and endurance, though they are usually slow to start. Once their bulk is going, however, it is nearly impossible to stop them. Coloring: Exactly what one would expect, Golds can range from a pale yellow to a dingy greeny-Gold that seems more closely related to a more yellow-hued Jasper or Bronze. They can have any types of markings, though they usually don't stray out from the gold and bronze color spectrums. Jasper Rank: Queen Length: 14-16 ft Height: 22-24 hands Fertility: Fertile; 10 or less eggs Personality: Maternal, Territorial, Slow-to-Anger Build: Comparable to Golds in length, and frequently longer than Bronzes, Jaspers are large whers, sharing an equal status with Golds. Unlike Golds, and indeed all other "original" ranks, Jaspers are extremely low slung, giving them an especially long appearance. Jaspers are, while not as fast as their Gold counterparts, much more agile, giving them the same amount of advantage in a Run, only in a different form. Coloring: Named after the red-hued stone, Jaspers are most often a lovely marbled rust color, ranging from the darker orange-reds to the brighter red-oranges. They never stray quite into the yellows and oranges and golds of a true Gold, however, and frequently are dappled with greens or browns, and very rarely the occasional speckles of glittering flakes of gold. Bronze Rank: Male Length: 13-15 ft Height: 23-25 hands Fertility: Fertile Personality: Prideful, Protective, Fierce Build: Built after the same model as Golds, Bronzes are ugly brutes of nature, but they are well built and strong. Slightly less fast with slightly more bulk per muscle, so-to-speak, Bronzes are made for heavy-duty fighting as opposed to a Gold's "graceful" romp. They are the lions to a Gold's lioness. Coloring: Ranging anywhere from a warm brown-hued bronze to a pale gold-green bronze, dropping again to the bronze of an ancient statue, Bronzes have among the widest variations in coloring of all whers. The one defining factor seems to be that the base rests somewhere in the gold-brown category, usually overlaid with some sort of greenish sheen. Steel Rank: Male Length: 13-15 ft Height: 20-22 hands Fertility: Fertile Personality: Patient, Blunt/Honest, Moody Build: Like Jaspers, Steels are built long and low-slong, their bodies built for a special agility in movement as opposed to speed in a straight sprint. They are generally equal in size to Bronzes, but are seen as being smaller due to their low height. They are even shorter than many Browns, though they would defeat a Brown in any test of agility. Coloring: Steels are most often related to Silvers when compared to dragonkind, but in truth, even this comparison does not do them justice. Always a silver-hue, they vary between dark, near-black unpolished silvers to bright pale colors similar to white gold, but like a bronze is always touched by some form of green, a Steel is always touched by blue. Some Steels at Hatching are even confused for a Blue, their color can be so saturated, but as soon as their hides dry, it is clear their shine is not going to go away, and as they grow, it is easy to see from size and build what their true rank is. It is this blue "overcoat" that leads some to speculate that Steels are larger versions of Blues. Brown Rank: Male Length: 11-13 ft Height: 19-21 hands Fertility: Fertile Personality: Hard-Working, Determined Build: Built like Golds and Bronzes, Browns are heavily built bulky masses. They are smaller and more compacted by quite a bit than Golds or Bronzes, though they are taller than many Steels. Built for pure stamina, they are not as fast as any of the other ranks, but can last longer than all others, covering huge distances before needing to rest. Not particularly agile beasts, it is still quite a terror to see a wild Brown barreling at you at full speed. Coloring: Browns are exactly that. Brown. They cover the whole spectrum of "brown," too. Occasionally, their hue can mimic that of a Jasper, leading to some speculation that Jaspers are a large offshoot of Browns. They can be a pale tan, to a dark, almost black brown. Some are rather unfortunate looking with greenish hues blending in, but all in all, Browns really are just... well. Brown. Blue Rank: Male Length: 10-12 ft Height: 17-19 hands Fertility: Fertile Personality: Clueless, Emotional (be it good, or bad) Build: Built along a leaner frame, Blues are generally skinny whers when compared with larger ranks. They are seen as being almost "dainty," though of course it would still suck to be chased by one. Blues are built for speed, and though they can run longer than a Green, they are still ultimately sprinters, and would never last in a Gold Run. Coloring: Ranging between a near-white blue to a midnight blue, and even more purply or greenish hues, Blues are frequently compared to water or the sky, and deserve it as such. Green Rank: Female Length: 9-11 ft Height: 16-18 hands Fertility: Fertile; 4 or less eggs, often none. Personality: Sensual, Moody Build: Even lither than Blues, Greens are whers answers to a Gold's heavy endurance. Extremely quick, Greens run faster and turn quicker than any other wher, be it Gold or Jasper or Steel and Blue. They are delicate in appearance, and do not have nearly the endurance of any other wher, but their speed more than makes up for it in a run, or a fight against Thread. Coloring: Ranging from pale yellow greens like new leaves to the dark greens of an old forest at night, Greens can even range into the blue-green hues that Blues can wander into, where only their genders tell them apart. Greens can be pure or bright or murky colored, with no limitations on the range of greens that they can achieve on their hides. Mokume (male) Rank: Male Length: 9-12 ft Height: 15-17 hands Fertility: Fertile Personality: Steadfast, Rogueish, Intelligent, Complacent Build: Bulky beasts, these men are built with tree-trunk-like limbs for strength and sturdiness. When combined with their wood-grain-like textured hides, it is no wonder why they are often called "Wood Whers. Coloring: At first glance, Mokumes seem to be polychromae, with their blended gold-bronze-silver hides. Always metallic, from afar these gentlemen can seem to be a Gold-Bronze Chimera, but upon closer inspection, their size alone is enough to quell such thoughts. They are always a combination of silver and gold and bronze blended together to form knots and long lines of curving wood-texture. Aside from the fact that no wher's face is a particularly pretty sight, Mokume whers are uniquely beautiful with their bright, woody hides, stuck somewhere between a forest and a forge. Mokume (female) Rank: Female Length: 8-10 ft Height: 13-15hands Fertility: Fertile; 2 or less eggs Personality: Willowy, Individual, Intelligent, Enigmatic Build: Unlike the males, female Mokumes are built not along the lines of a great oak, but instead, that of a willow. They are long limbed, with slender wings that almost look beautiful, though they are quite small and useless as all whers wings are. Though no wher is beautiful, Mokumes may just seem it, built with considerably more grace than most any of their brethren. Coloring: At first glance, Mokumes seem to be polychromae, with their blended gold-bronze-silver hides. Always metallic, from afar these ladies can seem to be a mutant chimera with draconic Silver added to their hides, but upon closer inspection, their size alone is enough to quell such thoughts. They are always a combination of silver and yellow gold and rose gold blended together to form knots and long lines of curving wood-texture. Aside from the fact that no wher's face is a particularly pretty sight, Mokume whers are uniquely beautiful with their bright, woody hides, stuck somewhere between a forest and a forge.
