Since Im a poll junkie, please vote about what you think about this RP.
Not my type! A little complicated! Could be better! Its Brilliant! Why should you join? *Because you can! At anytime! Anyone can join no matter how far into the game we are. *It is set sometime in the unknown future of mankind and takes place entirely within a huge city surrounded by a vast jungle and neverending ocean. *It has a kind of "Shadowrun" feeling to it where the sun never shines and what we know is how we stay alive. *There is a new "stats" system that you can learn over time. Use it for battles, debates, rank and many other things. *You can start your own faction once you start to learn how things work and what your cause will be. Before you start It is important that you read all about this RP in order to better understand the enviornment in which we live. The more you learn about this place, the better you can help bring it to life. After reading, you may have questions about the history and the mystery of City of Jade. I went over most of what you need to know in the following parahgraphs. If you would like to know anything else or wish to make a suggestion to the game, PM me and I will gladly reply. Please note that I will not answer all questions because there are a lot of mysteries that you must "figure out" as you play. So lets get started Welcome to the City of Jade RPG. I have spent a great amount of time creating this game and have thought out almost every aspect in it. Though some aspects can not be enjoyed because I decided to launch it in a simple forum rather than what I had planned, I am glad that it is in "RPG Forums Online" rather than some dead end board. The way this game works is like most forum RPGs. You create the story as you go along. One thing that may or may not be different is the information factor. The more you know about this game, the more power you will have. I have revealed only the basics which is all you need to know to get started. As we get more into the game, more information will become available. With that info. we can shape the City of Jade into whatever we want. If you read everything in this post carefully, you will have what you need to start gaining that info. If I or another player ever posts something vital to the progress of the story, there will be this-(Alert!) above the important stuff and this-(Clear!) afer it. Anything else can be whatever color/font/style you wish until you start to learn more about that. So lets begin. <hr> The setting Planet--- Earth. Date----- Unknown. We all wake up in a place called "Angels Shrine". It is the mother of all mankind. Though no one really knows what it is or how it works, our earliest memories in life start there. Some of us start out as children while others start as adults. No matter what age our life starts as, we come with a basic knowledge of right from wrong, a spoken language and common sense. As we go on living, or trying to make a living, the awareness of reality slowly settles upon us. A reality where we are no longer our own. Memories of a bright, beautiful past seem to haunt each and every one of us. Yet no one knows for sure why we have such memories. All we know is that our submission to "The Fathers" is our only hope for a full life. The world as we know it is in an age of darkness. When simply walking across the street from our own dwelling requires that we wear full body protection and carry high-powered weapons. This anarchy is what some call the ultimate freedom. Who needs law when we can take care of ourselves right? Those who live with this mindset usually live a hard life and die young. Those who live in fear of this usually live under the protection of The Fathers. On the streets of Jade, we strive for knowledge. We obtain information any way we can. With that information we try to figure out what the meaning of this life really is. As questions arise, violence is our way to gain answeres. Answers to questions such as "where do we come from?", "what does our past mean?", and most importantly, "what is Angels Shrine?". Information is the most valuable thing we have now days. People will die for it as surely as others will kill for it. The structure of CoJ (City of Jade) Think of the City of Jade like a wedding cake with the center being the highest point and the rest dropping down like stairs. That would make up the foundation that the city rests on. The center of the city, called Angels Shrine, is 3 miles in radius. It then drops straight down 200 ft. to the next level. This level is called "Capitol Zone" and it spans out from Angels Shrine about 5 miles. It then drops down 300 ft. to next level. This level is called "Acropolis" and spans out from Capitol Zone 10 miles. Again it drops down 500 ft. to the level called "Sector 1" and spans 15 miles from Acropolis. From Sector 1 it drops down another 500 ft. to the ground (sea level). With this in mind we know that Angels Shrine is exactly 1,500 ft above sea level. From an overhead view it would look like this. Angels shrine would be a circle 6 miles in diameter. The Capitol Zone would be a ring around The Angels Shrine 5 miles thick . Acropolis would be a ring around the Capitol Zone 10 miles thick. And Sector 1 would be a 15 mile thick ring around Acropolis. In total CoJ is 66 miles in diameter. Dark Heaven and The Angels Shrine Above CoJ is a huge disk shaped ceiling known as "Dark Heaven". It is made up of minerals, wires and machinery and spans over the whole city. It gives us the feeling of living in a giant cave where the only sunlight shines in from the horizon in any direction. No one knows what Dark Heaven is, how think it is or how old it is. From the highest point in the city, the center known as Angels Shrine, a huge pillar towers over everything else. It is the main support structure connected to Dark Heaven, which is a about 1,500 feet above this point. Some believe that we are born or created in Dark Heaven and sent down through this pillar. Others think we may have had different lives in Dark Heaven until we broke some sort of law and were sent down to live the rest of our lives in punishment. This is one explaination for why we have so many memories of a better past. Dark Heaven is constantly glowing with green lights which shine down on CoJ giving it a moody green tint. At any given time there are at least 5,000 lights shining down. Most are dim and green tinted. Others are bright with a more florecent green color. Some contain other colors as well. At times we could also hear random sounds like buzzing, clicking, pounding, ect. Many believe it is the machinery causing those sounds while others believe it is the cry of lost souls. If you stick around long enough, you will see that many people have developed their own belief systems which try to explain the mysteries of CoJ. The Water of Eternity and the Great Jungle To the east of CoJ is a huge sea called "The Water of Eternity" Though some have made good business fishing these waters, anyone who has set sail to look for a "better way" have never returned. It is still unknown wether they have found that better way or perished with the sea. When gazing upon these waters, one could see huge creatures surfacing from time to time. The biggest known creature, a serphent called "Galazore", was roughly measured out to be 200 ft. Many other different creatures have been spotted as have many fishermen lost their lives to them. On the south, west, and north sides of CoJ lies "The Great Jungle". It is a dense jungle that stretches as far as one could see. It is also filled with various deadly creatures and is no place for any human to roam. Some of its trees are so huge that they climb well above 500 feet. In particular, there is one tree whos branches rest upon an area on the west side of CoJ. For years, creatures used to climb this tree and terrorize the city streets. It wasn't until a certain group built a wall around that whole area and cut off any connection from the creatures of the jungle. The place is now known as "Demons Gate" and for a price, one could test his skills against an army of hungry "demons". The Fathers The Fathers are a mysterious group who have restored order to the city long ago. They have put out laws and codes for those who would follow their ways. If you believe in their ways and follow their laws, you could live the rest of your life under their protection while living in the comfort of Acropolis. If not, you would live in Sector 1 fending for your life. Not much is known about The Fathers but is seems they have a lot of power and influence all over CoJ. <hr> *Rules* 1: Do not use red font color. That color is reserved for posting anything vital to the story and for introducing a new character. That way anyone who needs to know anything new to properly RP with us can look it up with ease. Remember during a vital part of the game, you will see this-(Alert!) above it and this-(Clear!) after it. 2: We all have faded memories of our past. Most memories can be created and posted however you want though at times, you will recieve certain memories in your PM box. Those memories can be kept secret or they can be exposed but they are to help you better understand things on your quest for knowledge and you must accept them as "having happened to your character". 3: Powers are allowed. If you have a power you wish to use in the game, you may. But know that you can not rely on power alone to succeed in this game. You live in CoJ for a reason and there will always be someone who can strip you of those powers. 4: The previous rule is not an excuse to God Mod. It is a rule to enforce many truths in CoJ that you must accept. Other than that, no God Moding. You must know what you are doing and why before you try to overpower someone. 5: Magic is not allowed. (Unless there is a way) 6: You may have as many characters as you wish and can create them whenever you wish. When creating a character, please post (New Character!) using the RED font color so we know that a new player is joining in on the fun. 7: You are free to create any kind of history for your character from the moment you arrived in CoJ and you do not have to start the game out from that moment. (Could be years later if you wish) *Below is a list of "in-game" rules where the consequences are given to the character if caught. <hr> The code of The Fathers "We have established this code as a peacekeeping effort to the City of Jade and its inhabitants. Section 4: a: One shall observe and obey all parts of this code in full lest one be given punishement based upon the judicial powers of the council. b: One shall understand and accept any changes made to the code after the notification to, and acceptance of the public. c: One shall understand and accept any changes made to the code without the notification to, or acceptance of the public; in an event of needed power to restore peace. Section 2: a-1: One may not intentionally kill another unless in self defence within ones own dwelling whereas ones life or the lives of innocent people are threatened, whereas the only possible outcome of such a confrontation requires such an action. a-2: One may not physically harm another without a written consent whereas both parties have agreed upon and signed, and inside an establishment in which the written consent has assigned. b: One may not enter the dwelling of another without the notice and consent of the owner of the dwelling or its inhabitants unless permission has been given, and is within a duration stated by the owner of the dwelling or its inhabitants. c: One may not take any personal item belonging to another or an establishment without the notice and consent of the other or establishment whom which it belongs. Section 1: a: One may not invite anyone outside the protection of The Fathers to attend any private meetings held by the members of The Council or its community. b: One may not share any information about The Fathers, The Council or its community with anyone outside the protection of The Fathers. c-1: One may not attempt or aid in any attempt to rebel against, overthrow, cripple or weaken The Fathers or any establishment under The Fathers. c-2: One may not observe or participate in any view, practice or ritual created by anyone outside the protection of The Fathers. d: One may not present ones self as any member of The Fathers or The Council unless one has been given such a rank by The Fathers. e: One may not attempt or aid in any attempt to obtain any information from The Fathers nor shall one accept any information about The Fathers given to ones self from anyone other than The Fathers. <hr> Ok thats about it. Maybe all those rules will make you dislike The Fathers or maybe the streets of Jade will make you wish you never felt that way. Its your call. If you feel confused, get into the game a little and you'll quickly catch on. My character is in the next post. He has more clues you might be able to use. |
