Before the draft is started...The Wolves have announced a trade with the Denver Nuggets, shipping out sparingly used PG Jerome Allen for the services of SF Jalen Rose. With our depth at PG, we see this as a great opportunity to add more young depth to the 1/2 and 3 position. |

1996-1997 Free Agency Period Day 1 Shaquille O'Neal: 7 years-105,393,750 (Magic) John Stockton: 5 years-71,906,225 (Jazz) Alonzo Mourning: 6 years-82,125,000 (Lakers) Cedric Ceballos: 7 years-105,393,750 (Lakers) Tracy Murray: 7 years-105,393,750 (Raptors) Well that didn't start out too well. We tried to make a splash and offered both Shaq and Mourning max contracts to allow KG to move back to his more natural position. Will go more conservative from here on out. Day 2 Mahmoud-Abdul-Rauf: 6 years-77,339,002 (Grizzlies) Reggie Miller: 5 years- 61,147,416 (Celtics) Latrell Sprewell: 7 years-89,406,259 (Warriors) Nick Anderson: 5 years-47,403,738 (Hornets) We still have a nice offer out on Vlade Divac...Hoping to hear back from him tomorrow. Day 3 Vlade Divac-5 years-48,840,800 (Timberwolves) Rod Strickland-6 years-62,352,510 (Mavericks) We got the solid center we badly desired. Allows KG to go back to PF and Antoine to move to the SF position. We'll try to pick up a decent shooter on the last two days. Day 4 Sean Elliott-4 years-28,082,628 (Spurs) Steve Smith-3 years-13,613,863 (Warriors) Jon Barry-3 years-18,039,500 (Timberwolves) We pick up a great shooter, who is young and also plays defense. Bingo! Day 5 Greg Anthony-3 years-14,454,000 (Blazers) Oliver Miller-3 yearss-10,356,410 (Heat) Malik Sealy (RIP :( ) 3 years-11,973,209 Overall I'm satisfied with this offseason. I think we can be competitive and maybe sneak into the bottom portion of the playoffs with a healthy season. |
