VC is still hovering below 20 PPG which isn't as much as I want for our tops scorer. Francis saw his numbers stay about the same as did Ron. Our bench seems to have almost too many big men now. With Joe Smith, Maurice Taylor & Rasheed Wallace I have 3 extra big men when I should only need at most two. I might deal one for a 1st round picks if possible, but who knows at this point. Penny has been decent off the bench and is still putting up good numbers from his spot as back-up combo guard. Not sure who we will dump yet, but Joe Smith isn't helping his cause with his decrease in rebounds. If Maurice could defend at all would help too. --- Rookie vs. Sophmore Game Rookies 109 - Sophmores 85 (PG Steve Francis 9 Pts, 7 Ast, 5 Reb, 1 Stl, SF Vince Carter 4 Pts, 4 Reb, 1 Ast) 3 Point Shootout SF Walt Williams (Seattle) wins 19-11 against SF Paul Pierce (Boston) Slam Dunk Contest Vince Carter wins with 94.2! Stevie Franchise, Ron Artest, AND Sheed? Hopefully if injures stop piling up you can turn the Clip Show into a dynasty... but Penny is just, ewwwwwww right now. |

It's killing us. After ringing off 6 wins after the All-Star breaks, we than lost 6 of 7 to end the month. We couldn't find any buyers for our 3 bench big men, but I will look to maybe get a future 1st. Teams might be more willing to deal a distant pick. Out numbers didn't change much with VC & Francis leading the way and 3 to 5 guys providing them support. Penny has improved his passing numbers though and seem to have us set-up nicely at the guard position. By the next update you should see one of Maurice Taylor, Rasheed Wallace or Joe Smith gone. It's not an easy decision to make but they are wasted right now and we can get more for them. |

We were close to a deal with the Knicks, and I am still not sold on this draft. We might trade out, depends on how things go. Enough of that though, we turned the corner this month and finished above .500 again. We are pretty close to the 5th seed right now, but only 1.5 games separates us from no playoffs at all. Our good start had me encouraged and if not for another Steve Francis injury, we might have done even better this month. In fact Steve won a Player Of The Week award before his jaw injury. Cool beans. Anyways, not much has changed for us. We've been keeping the same line-up most of the year and once Steve is back I am confident we can get a strong finish and hopefully a nice playoff spot. I guess I'll be able to tell you more next update. |

The race at the bottom was so close but we managed to finish strong and now find ourselves with the teams best record since 1975, when we were still in Buffalo! 3 more wins and we would have tied our All-Time best, but who can complain? Last year we won 38 games so we've improved a ton. The team was 17-65 before I got here. Our only award winner was Steve Francis, who grabbed a 2nd All_Rookie team behind Andre Miller. The plus side is Steve lead the entire league with 8.8 APG! Once he gets a better handle on his mental aspects and turns the ball over less, he should be one of the best PG's in the NBA. For now, let us take a look at our very interesting first round match-up... --- #2 Los Angeles Lakers vs. #7 Los Angeles Clippers Lakers Starting Line-up: C - Shaquille O'Neal PF - Michael Olowokandi SF - Kobe Bryant SG - Greg Anthony PG Terrell Brandon Key Bench Players: C/PF Travis Knight SF/C/PF Robert Horry SG/SF/PG Derek Harper Clippers Starting Line-up: C - Kamie Fieck PF - Donyell Marshall SF - Vince Carter SG - Ron Artest PG - Steve Francis Key Bench Players: C/PF Joe Smith SF/C/PF Maurice Taylor SG/PG Anfernee Hardaway C/PF/SF Rasheed Wallace So our post-season return sees us face our division and city rivals, the Lakers. The problems to deal with are obvious. Shaq, Kobe & Brandon are as deadly a trio as they were when they made the finals last year. Olowokandi is a big problem inside as well, and it's obvious where we need to do our best. VC and Artest need to cover Kobe while the other has to try to get numbers against Greg Anthony. I'd argue our bench is better but we need to slow down Kobe and I just hope rookie Artest is up for it. |

Posted Image 1st Round Lakers 76 - Clippers 68 A tough loss as we played good here. Steve & Ron lead us with 20 and 17 respectively, but Shaq just dominated for 32 points and 16 boards. We still held Kobe in check with only 15 though. Lakers 97 - Clippers 82 Once again Francis lead us, this time sidekicked by VC. It was the same issue as game one with Shaq getting 30 along with 15 rebounds. Also outside our top two only Ron got into double figures. Hopefully returning back home will change our fortunes. Lakers 93 - Clippers 85 Well, so much for that theory. This is pretty much a carbon copy with Francis getting 18 and Jamie Feick with a surprising 14. Shaq had 32 and Kobe played better with 18 points and an impressive 10 rebounds. I'm hoping we can at least win one game here, something we haven't done since 1993. Lakers 83 - Clippers 72 Get the brooms out, we've been swept. Steve had a miserable day with just 4 points, but VC & Artest had 21 and 19 respectively. Shaq dropped 32/15 in what was a routine night in the playoff for him so far. So we were swept, with Steve Francis being the only consistent scorer (Although Jamie Feick did pretty good on the boards). I suppose we can learn how much needs to be done before we can compete and that we still have pieces needed to be true contenders. |

While we are undersized with him and Donyell, I am confident in both men's D and we have some taller SF and SG players. Speaking of VC looks ready to really up his scoring and lead us offensively. Steve has improved there too, but did seem to take a step back on D. Ron stayed the same as far as I can tell, but only some actually games will let me know for sure. The bench is pretty short as I hope to use a 5 man rotation. Joe Smith will get some minutes at C, but expect us to possibly move him (And Maurice Taylor) to try and get some more draft picks. Antoine Walker is a versatile scoring threat who will add some nice punch off the bench. Penny actually worked hard and seems to have gotten better at passing. His vision isn't as good as it once was, but he's improved which is a good sign. Speaking of improved, Rasheed surprised me with new defensive intensity and added to his scoring touch. I'm trying to get this guy minutes, but it's hard with all my big men. Jon Barry is a walking placeholder, but at least he can defend and hasn't declined. The IR was part project, and part waiting to get cut/released. Closs & James both seem like washout's but Miles has a little upside. This was a weak draft and don't be shocked if Darius is traded before ever playing a minute as an LA Clipper. I still think we might have some issues. A really great big man would be nice, and it remains to be seen if VC and Francis can be those 20+ PPG guys we need. I am optimistic though and with Kobe out of LA, we might be the best team in this city for the first time in a long time. Edited by Hajjhowe, Jun 23 2010, 04:56 AM.

We are in the top 10 on offense and defense which is always a plus, and it seems Steve is stepping into the top scorer role. VC & Artest are also splitting points a lot more evenly with each getting around 15 a game. 'Franchise' is playing at another level however as he's dropped his turnovers down to just 3, upped his scoring to 21 and is still dishing out 10 assists a game. Ben & Donyell are contributing well but get an unheralded job of playing solid D and cleaning up the boards for us. Off the bench Antoine is getting almost 10 points a game himself and is also pitching in a steal in his new role as 6th man. Penny & Joe Smith are also pitching in but Sheed is getting lost in the shuffle with just 7 minutes a game. Edited by Hajjhowe, Jun 25 2010, 01:24 AM.

I'm not sure where our real problems are, but I am starting to think it might be time to send Penny packing. He's out primary back-up at both guard spots and while his D is nice he's only scoring 5.5 in 16 minutes. I'm looking to deal either Penny, Joe or Rasheed to get us a upgrade for the bench at combo guard, but it remains to be seen who takes our offer. On the plus side we have the 2nd best PPG in the league, although our D has been a bit weaker lately. |

Steve has started turning the ball over more again, back to 4. Luckily he still leads the NBA with 10.2 APG and also leads us in scoring with 20.2 PPG. VC has improved steadily and is up to 18.3 in his #2 scoring role, but we might be looking to make him our top option after the All-Star weekend. Ron is steady at 16 a game while Ben 7 Donyell are chipping in 10 along with some solid rebounding and D. Antoine & Joe are both playing solid but again penny has been decent if unspectacular. 5/2/2.5 with 1 steal in 19 MPG isn't blowing anyone away. Sheed is also wasting away on our bench and I am think of pushing him to 3rd string SG in an attempt to up his minutes. He's too talented to get 7 minutes a game. --- All-Star Rookie Game Rookies 78 - Sophmores 67 (Wow) Ron Artest got 11 points, 3 rebounds & 3 assists, Steve Francis got 2 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. 3 Point Shootout Glen Rice (Portland) wins 12-11 against Dana Barros (Boston).
