Even more bizzare is how despite this we didn't make up any ground and are still in 4th. Everyone's role on the team seems to be getting established better now. VC & Franchise are leading us on offense with nice contributions from Ron. Donyell, Ben & Jeff have been cleaning up the boards while Antoine is providing a scoring spark off the bench. Rod has also acclimated well to his back-up role. If we can keep rolling like this we might be able to get into 3rd place but the Warriors are 7.5 ahead of us, best in the NBA. It'll take some work if we want to get a divisional banner in here. |

Also we only lost Penny who was a 3rd stringer at this point. We keep having consistency issues and I am not going to accept if after this year. We've been together for almost 4 seasons and it's time for these guys to be good every night. We make our end of season run and we've let the team know we are still very much in the race for a 3rd seed with only 2.5 separating us from Portland. I also mentioned the Kings who are coming up from below us (No homo) and that we want to keep home court. Edited by Hajjhowe, Jun 27 2010, 02:01 PM.

A shame, but still we have momentum, home court and proved last year that we can compete in the playoffs. Obvious getting to the Western Conference finals again is our goal and I think we could do it, but the minimum I expect is the Semi's. We got Augmon as insurance and decided to dump some of our dead weight in Pooh & Minor. As for our team we had no award winners, but that is in large part to our changes in system and positions I think. There is only one award we really want... an NBA title. --- #4 LA Clippers (48-34) vs. #5 Sacramento Kings (43-39) Clippers Starting 5: C - Ben Wallace PF - Donyell Marshall SF - Vince Carter SG - Ron Artest PG - Steve Francis Key Subs: C Jeff Foster, PF Antoine Walker, PG Rod Strickland Kings Starting 5: C - Chris Webber PF - Vlade Divac SF - Peja Stojakovic SG - Derek Anderson PG - Jason Williams Key Subs: PF Lawrence Funderbunk, PF Lorenzen Wright, PG Hersey Hawkins We are facing a team very similar to the one we beat last year. During the regular season we were 3-1 against the Kings and I see in them the exact same thing as last year. They will pound it inside with the only real change being Scot Pollard with Funderbunk and Derek Anderson replacing Hawkins. This gives me a lot of confidence that we can beat this team again. We won't know anything for sure until we play the games though. |

Posted Image Western Conference Quarter-Finals Clippers 103 - Kings 100 Yikes this was close. Chris Webber (29 pts, 9 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl) was on fire and almost beat us by himself at points. But we stood up and got a surprisingly solid game out of Donyell Marshall (23 pts, 6 reb) who seems to excel in the post-season. Steve Francis (23 pts, 9 ast, 4 reb, 4 stl) was also a shot maker and shot taker as we just eeked by to take this 1-0 lead. Kings 94 - Clippers 91 Ugh. Another close game, but we are on the wrong side this time. Once again it was C-Webb (29 pts, 15 reb, 4 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk) who took over but got much better support from Lawrence Funderbunk (18 pts, 6 reb, 2 ast, 1 blk). Our best was Vince Carter (29 pts, 8 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl) who showed flahses of how good he can be. Steve Francis (9 pts, 17 ast, 4 reb) also played a selfless game but his 9 turnovers ruined an otherwise impressive passing night. It really hurts to lose at home, but we just need to step up and win in Sacramento to take the advantage back. Kings 94 - Clippers 91 Talk about a close series. Despite our incredibly balanced attack Webber (28 pts, 14 reb, 4 ast, 3 blk, 2 stl) just seems to kill us every time. I don't know how we can stop this guy, but we need to find away because we can't afford to go down 3-1. We are well aware of the situation, and if we can just slow Webber down and execute we should win. Clippers 99 - Kings 88 We got home court back with a important win here. We still couldn't stop Webber (42 pts, 11 reb, 4 bl, 3 ast, 1 stl) and Vlade Divac (21 pts, 9 reb, 5 blk, 2 stl) but our big three of VC (18 pts, 5 reb), Steve Francis (20 pts, 9 ast, 4 stl) & Ron Artest (31 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast) all stepped up and played as good as I know they can. We won the turnover battle, made our shots and now we go back to the Staples Center ready to try and take back this series. Clippers 83 - Kings 79 Man did we cut this close. Vlade Divac (25 pts, 13 reb, 5 ast) & Webber (24 pts, 14 reb, 3 ast, 2 blk) battered us again but once more team basketball prevailed and thanks to just 6 turnovers we managed 7 more field goal attempts. If not for bad free throwing late (7-17) we could have won more comfortably. Still we have a chance to go into Sacramento and end this series. Hopefully that's what happens. Kings 97 - Clippers 84 Turnovers killed us as the Kings got 14 more shots and did great at the penalty stripe to beat us and send the series to a game 7. Just an ugly loss but back at the Staples Center we will have the home court and you know the Clippers fans will be fired up to see there team win. I don't want to disappoint them. They've clearly suffered enough. Clippers 84 - Kings 79 Once again, we have advance past the Quarter-Finals. We didn't do anything particularly spectacular here. We just played solid team ball, put the entire game on Chris Webber (25 pts, 12 reb, 4 blk, 3 ast) and he couldn't beat us by himself. I am so proud to see us overcome the 2-1 deficit and really show some mental toughness after losing game 6. I still feel on our best nights we can beat anyone, and the NBA title is one step closer right now... --- Quarter-Finals West #1 Golden State Warriors def. #8 Denver Nuggets 4-3 #4 LA Clippers def. #5 Sacramento Kings 4-3 #7 Dallas Mavericks def. #2 Utah Jazz 4-2 #3 Portland Trailbazers def. #6 Seattle SuperSonics 4-0 East #1 Boston Celtics def. #8 Detroit Pistons 4-1 #5 Milwaukee Bucks def. #4 Philadelphia 76ers 4-2 #7 Toronto Raptors def. #2 Cleveland Cavaliers 4-2 #6 Chicago Bulls def. #3 Washington Wizards 4-2 --- #1 Golden State Warriors (57-25) vs. #4 LA Clippers (48-34) Warriors Starting 5: C - Ervin Johnson PF - Zach Randolph SF - Andrei Kirilenko SG - Jay McIlvaine PG - Charlie Ward Key Subs: PG Larry Hughes, C Samaki Walker, PF Maurice Taylor Clippers Starting 5: C - Ben Wallace PF - Donyell Marshall SF - Vince Carter SG - Ron Artest PG - Steve Francis Key Subs: C Jeff Foster, PF Antoine Walker, PG Rod Strickland So it's another West Coast showdown as we face the best team in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors. Something just seems off about this team. During the entire regular season they had Zydrunas Ilgauskas starting at C, but have not only changed to Ervin Johnson but dropped Z entirely from the rotation despite him being healthy. The offense runs through rookie Zach Randolph and the uber talented Andrei Kirilenko. I think the key for our success will be exploiting the questionable D of Jay McIlvaine & Zach while also keeping an eye on Maurice Taylor who is a big part of their offense off the bench. We are obviously underdogs, but I think history could repeat itself and see us in the Conference Finals if everything goes right. Edited by Hajjhowe, Jun 27 2010, 04:34 PM.

Posted Image Western Conference Semi-Finals Warriors 92 - Clippers 82 A tough loss and it was surprisingly Ervin Johnson (23 pts, 13 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 2 blk) who did us in the worst. The Warriors used many people to score and had more than twice as many free throws as us, something they took full advantage of. We will be looking to bounce back and take one on the road before we go back home. Warriors 83 - Clippers 79 This was agonizingly close. Vince (21 pts, 4 reb, 4 ast, 3 stl) & AK (25 pts, 10 reb, 2 stl, 2 blk) put on a show for the Golden State fans as at times it seemed like it was just a game of one on one between the two. I can't really pinpoint exact reasons for our loss. We played tough, didn't commit too many turnovers and shot good percentages. It just wasn't our night. Luckily we are back at the Staple Center and the fans will be looking for another home team win. Clippers 93 - Warriors 81 Disciplined play and created turnovers gave us a very important and comfortable win back at the Staple Center. Steve Francis (21 pts, 5 ast, 4 reb, 2 blk) lead us but it was a pretty good team effort. We were also very good at the charity stripe (24-33) while not giving the Warriors too many shots, which they usually missed anyways. Winning the next game would be huge for us and would also give us the momentum as we head back to Oakland. Clippers 86 - Warriors 81 A closer game, but still another huge win. Despite having 5 players in double figures, Golden State couldn't complete a frantic comeback as we tied up the series behind team basketball. Franchise (18 pts, 4 ast, 4 reb, 4 stl) & VC (18 pts, 8 reb, 7 ast) really stepped up as our leaders and we now have two straight wins as we head to Oakland looking to make it three in a row and take a series lead. Warriors 99 - Clippers 59 Wow. Our defense was just terrible. Anybody and everybody for the Warriors came in and scored while we basically had two guys try to fight back. This was our worse loss since the first season I was here. I really hope we can bounce back from this and keep fighting when the series shifts back to LA. It remains to be seen how we respond. Clippers 96 - Warriors 81 That's what a winning team does. After the 40 point butt kicking we got, the Staples Center crowd stayed behind us and were rewarded with an impressive W. The biggest factor for us was 2nd chances thanks to some great rebounding, especially by Ben Wallace (13 pts, 18 reb, 1 stl, 2 blk). It was a great win and once again we find ourselves in a game 7. Let's hope this one ends like the last one did. Clippers 100 - Warriors 80 It's back to the Western Conference finals! Some great shooting on many, many shots sees us complete our upset of the best team in the NBA (Again) as we send another California foe out. The D was big for us holding them back and we got a surprising offensive outburst from Ben (22 pts, 10 reb, 4 blk, 2 stl) as well as a great game from Franchise (23 pts, 8 ast, 7 reb). Back to back appearances is an incredible turnaround for this team, but we all think that we could go even further and give this team it's first ever finals appearence. For now though, we can celebrate this come from behind win. --- Semi-Finals West #4 LA Clippers def. #1 Golden State Warriors 4-3 #7 Dallas Mavericks def. #3 Portland Trailbazers 4-1 East #1 Boston Celtics def. #5 Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 #7 Toronto Raptors def. #6 Chicago Bulls 4-2 --- #4 LA Clippers (48-34) vs. #7 Dallas Mavericks (41-41) Clippers Starting 5: C - Ben Wallace PF - Donyell Marshall SF - Vince Carter SG - Ron Artest PG - Steve Francis Key Subs: C Jeff Foster, PF Antoine Walker, PG Rod Strickland Mavericks Starting 5: C - Tom Gugliota PF - Gary Trent SF - Gerald Wallace SG - Eric Piatkowski PG - Erick Strickland Key Subs: C Brian Williams, SF Scott Burrell, PG Chris Whitney We avoid a rematch against Portland, and instead we will face the Mavericks, winners of two consecutive upsets. Despite their two best offensive weapons being big men Gugliota & Trent, the Mavs actually have a pretty balanced attack with rookie Gerald Wallace scoring too and Brian Williams having a solid year off the bench. On paper we should be able to handle the Mavericks and book a spot in the NBA finals, but so should the two teams before us. Gary Trent has been big in the playoffs and it'll be up to Big Ben & Donyell to slow him down. I think if Ron & Franchise can take advantage of slightly overwhelmed Piatkowski & Strickland we should be able to win this. We are just hoping we don't become the 3rd upset victim of this hungry Mavs team. Edited by Hajjhowe, Jun 27 2010, 05:02 PM.

Posted Image Western Conference Finals Clippers 101 - Mavericks 94 So Ron Artest (24 pts, 3 red, 3 ast) stepped up as I hoped and we managed to get a game one win despite a furious comeback from Dallas. Gary Trent (25 pts, 7 reb) was the force we expected but we kept the other players in check and caused a lot of turnovers while limiting our own. Another key was our three point shooting as we hit 9-16 that made a big difference by the end of the game. We will look for another win in game 2 to put some pressure on the Mavs and keep our momentum going from the last series as well. Mavericks 94 - Clippers 75 Ugh. This was just bad. A terrible home loss that will also see us lose homecourt. We didn't even get beat by their best, it was a total team effort by them while we just couldn't match up. The next game in Dallas is huge. Maybe not a must win, but I am certainly hoping we get one. Clippers 95 - Mavericks 76 That's how you bounce back! Dallas became once more the Gary Trent Show (25 pts, 10 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl) but we shut down everyone else and used a good mix of socrer's to take back control of the series. A win in the next game would be huge and set us up for a chance to end the series at home. Mavericks 76 - Clippers 74 Ugh, so close. We had them on the ropes and were ready for a knock out blow, but than Gary Trent (29 pts, 9 reb) lead a stormed comeback and we lost at the buzzer. It's demoralizing, but we will be going back to the Staples Center where we can get our advantage back and use the Clippers Nation to give us an edge. We almost must win, losing and heading back to Dallas could be trouble. Clippers 91 - Mavericks 77 Another professional job at home as we played Clippers basketball. Let two guys in, but shut everyone else down. Limited turnovers, balanced scoring, superior rebounding and shooting. We need to keep up this level and we will find ourselves in the NBA finals. Everyone in the locker room knows it, I just hope they make it happen. Mavericks 114 - Clippers 96 I don't think I can handle anymore game 7's. Dallas was really fired up and shot VERY good from the field (48-84) and forced a game 7. We head back to the Staples Center for our 3rd consecutive game 7 and like the last two we will be looking for a win. We need to play our game and step up on D. The finals are so close I can taste them. I've told everyone to think about Rod and remember that while most of us our young, this could be his last shot at a title. Hopefully they can handle the pressure one more time. Clippers 93 Mavericks 85 WE DID IT! After more than 30 years of futility the LA Clippers are going to the NBA finals. We really earned this one, trailing by 10 heading into the final quarter we stepped it up and scored 32 points behind Vince Carter (19 pts, 7 reb, 4 ast, 4 blk), Steve Francis (16 pts, 11 ast, 4 stl) and Ron Artest (15 pts, 3 reb). The three proverbial faces of this franchise. The crowd was absolutely electric as confetti fell and I held up the Western Conference title. It felt great to give Clippers fans a winner... but it also made us want the NBA title that much more. We've come a long way from when I started. My goals was an NBA title and we are very close to achieving it. --- Conference Finals West #4 LA Clippers def. #7 Dallas Mavericks 4-3 East #7 Toronto Raptors def. #1 Boston Celtics 4-2 --- #4 LA Clippers (48-34) vs. #7 Toronto Raptors (43-39) Clippers Starting 5: C - Ben Wallace PF - Donyell Marshall SF - Vince Carter SG - Ron Artest PG - Steve Francis Key Subs: C Jeff Foster, PF Antoine Walker, PG Rod Strickland Raptors Starting 5: C - Travis Knight PF - Jason Collins SF - Richard Hamilton SG - Doug Christie PG - Derek Fisher Key Subs: C John Thomas, PG Dee Brown, SF Rodney Buford So here it is. Our first NBA finals. We are facing a team that made the finals last year in Toronto, and they will not be a cakewalk. Defense is the name of the game for the Raptors as Doug Christie & Derek Fisher have shutdown some of the best guard duo's in the NBA. Rip Hamilton is a good outside shooter, but this team lives on it's back court duo. D-Fish has been one of the best and most underrated PG's in the NBA. Two finals appences in a row and the leader of this team in points, assists and just straight up leadership. The big men certainly aren't bad, but Knight & Collins pose far less of a threat to use. This match up is going to be tough. We don't get tons of scoring from our big men and Franchise & Artest are going to have a real tough time against Christie & Fisher. VC will need to stop Rip but also exploit his weak D for us to win. Antoine Walker having a good series against their big men would also be huge. I think we might be favorites going in, but this could be another long and close series. Edited by Hajjhowe, Jun 27 2010, 05:34 PM.

Posted Image NBA Finals Clippers 86 - Raptors 82 A packed house saw their LA Clippers win game one, but not without a cost. Ben Wallace landed awkwardly on a rebound after about 10 minutes and is expected to miss the next 4 games. Jeff Foster (8 pts, 17 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl) played great in his absence, and is expected to start at center. No real standout performances here. Just a close game that we pulled away with late as we take a big game 1 win and will be looking to grab another W in game 2 before we head north of the border. Clippers 114 - Raptors 77 Domination. Vince Carter (39 pts, 7 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl) & Ron Artest (32 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast, 1 blk) just tore the Raptors apart as we cruised to a comfortable win. The rebounding advantage was heavily in our favor with Jeff Foster (10 pts, 17 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl) cleaning up the boards well and giving us a lot of 2nd chances. We need to keep this momentum as we jump north for 3 games. A win in game 3 would give us a stranglehold on the series and I am sure nobody in this room wants to go back to LA without a title. Hopefully we make that happen. Raptors 85 - Clippers 78 A packed ACC powered Toronto to a crucial game 3 win as they find themselves back in this series. Travis Knight (22 pts, 10 reb, 2 ast, 2 blk, 2 stl) had an exceptional night offensively and we just couldn't seem to drop our shots with a miserable 34 of 89. It was a bitter pill to swallow as we won the turnover and rebounding battles but nobody could score late. Still if we win the next game we'll be up 3-1 and can really start to put pressure on the Raptors. Clippers 94 - Raptors 76 A HUGE win as we are now 1 away from an NBA title. Once again we out hustled Toronto around the boards with 13 more rebounds than them. We also forced a lot of bad shots for them while shooting significantly better ourselves. The team is well aware of the fact that we are only one game for a title and our coach has been trying to keep them calm and ready for game 5 which we are all hoping is our last game of the season. Clippers 95 - Raptors 85 WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIEND. DUN DUN. A long road has come to an end, and now the LA Clippers can finally shake off their label as losers and head back to LA as the cities champions. We played just like we did last game. More rebounds, better shooting. It was a total team effort. The finals MVP was Steve Francis (14.2 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 8.4 APG, 1.6 SPG) but you could have picked any numbers of guys. It was a team that won this title and the future looks brighter than ever for us now. |

It'll be hard to replace Rod but I feel Tony can cover well for him. I've also seen our big positions stabilize a bit. Ben Wallace & Marcus Camby make a difficult duo for any front court in the league to deal with. They also can chip in some scoring (More so Camby) and leave me surprisingly comfortable up front. The main trio all seem improved as I think Ron & VC could see yet another jump in their PPG. Obviously our main goal is to repeat. We are bringing back almost the entire core and might have even upgraded with Camby ahead of Marshall. Hopefully we can put it all together and make a run for a regular season title too. Even with a couple of hiccups this team looks solid and I am confident against anyone in the NBA right now. It's good to be on top. Edited by Hajjhowe, Jun 28 2010, 12:47 AM.

We got cocky, and if not for the huge lead we built we'd be in real trouble now. Luckily we are still 7.5 ahead of 2nd place. Our offense has cooled, but we still have a top 5 defense and we sit comfortably atop the West. --- Rookie Challenge: Sophmores 93 - Rookies 70 3 Point Shootout: Michael Redd (ORL) wins 12-11 against Michael Finley (PHI). Vince Carter is eliminated round 1. Slam Dunk Contest: Antonio McDyess (POR) wins with 92.1 All-Star Game: West 123 - East 95 Steve Francis (5 pts, 4 ast, 1 reb) |

Not only did we have a losing record, we also lost Marcus Camby with a Fractured arm. He's going to miss more than a month, but we won our two games without him. Hopefully we can keep it up and not let the top spot slip away from us. |

Our goal is simple... repeat. Anything less than another title is probably a failure. I think we can do. Our only real weakness before was big man D and Camby & Wallace are a formidable duo. If we play like we can, nothing should stop us. --- #1 LA Clippers (54-28) vs. #8 LA Lakers (39-43) Clippers Starting 5: C - Ben Wallace PF - Marcus Camby SF - Vince Carter SG - Ron Artest PG - Steve Francis Key Subs: PF Donyell Marshall, PF Antoine Walker, PG Tony Delk Lakers Starting 5: C - Shaquille O'Neal PF - Nickoloz Tskitishvili SF - Cedric Ceballos SG - Steve Nash PG - Terrell Brandon Key Subs: PF Marcus Fitzer, SG Isaiah Rider, PF Aaron McGee So after a long time we face my very first playoff opponents, the Lakers. It's still Shaq & Terrell... but that's almost it. The rest of the team is a mix of decent outside shooters and poor defense. If we don't win this series, I'd be totally stunned. Shaq would need to score 80 by himself. |

A good sign that the Lakers are improving, but right now we are the best team in LA. --- Quarter-Finals West #1 LA Clippers def. #8 LA Lakers 4-2 #4 Vancouver Grizzlies def. #5 Denver Nuggets 4-1 #7 Utah Jazz def. #2 Minnesota Timberwolves 4-2 #3 Golden State Warriors def. #6 Dallas Mavericks East #1 Charlotte Hornets def. #8 Indiana Pacers 4-1 #5 Cleveland Cavaliers def. #4 Atlanta Hawks 4-1 #7 Orlando Magic def. #2 Miami Heat 4-0 #3 New Jersey Nets def. #6 Toronto Raptors 4-0 --- #1 LA Clippers (54-28) vs. #4 Vancouver Grizzlies (47-35) Clippers Starting 5: C - Ben Wallace PF - Marcus Camby SF - Vince Carter SG - Ron Artest PG - Steve Francis Key Subs: PF Donyell Marshall, PF Antoine Walker, PG Tony Delk Grizzlies Starting 5: C - Vladimir Stepania PF - Carlos Boozer SF - Corey Maggette SG - Sam Mack PG - Derek Fisher Key Subs: C Vlade Divac, SG Eddie Jones, SF Ryan Humphrey It's Vancouver the the 'Duke Boys' as the media call them. The Grizzlies are looking to go from worst to first and they made some greta moves adding underrated Derek Fisher, big man Vlade Divac & #1 overall pick Carlos Boozer. The end result is a tema that has it's scorer's (Boozer, Maggette) and defenders (Stepania, Fisher) and it's tough to handle. Still I feel we have a strong bench and Sam Mack will have a real hard time dealing with Vince or Ron. If we stick to our gameplan we should move on to the Conference Finals again. IF. |
