POUND DA ROCK. Very good idea to invite recruits to the FCS game as it's a great time to impress them with your usual blowout game. Gave up more points than I'd like, but still. Where are you overall on rushing yards btw? Just curious. |

8th Game Scoring Summary 1st WKU 3 North Texas 7 2nd WKU 14 NT 14 3rd WKU 14 NT 7 4th WKU 0 NT 24 Final NT 52 WKU 31 stats Wright-1 for 6 for 14 yards, 2 INTs, lost fumble returned for TD Rainey-35 carries for 257 yards, 2 TDs Simpson-18 carries for 101 yards Allen/Henderson-sack each Thomas-INT Analysis-A miserable 4th was the undoing of this one...in a 3 possession span, Wright threw a pick, lost a fumble for a TD, threw a pick for a TD. He showed why he's a freshman and has a long way to go today. Our defense also couldn't stop them even remotely, and I guess this was a reminder we are playing over our heads when we were 5-2....Good news is, Rainey and Simpson both continue to run well, although Simpson needs to hold onto the ball Next up, at FAU Edited by Mofoticon, Jul 25 2010, 07:55 PM.

We signed our 5th recruit...* MLB Chris Britt from Duncanville, Texas (112th) 9th Game Scoring Summary 1st WKU 0 FAU 6 2nd WKU 7 FAU 0 3rd WKU 14 FAU 0 4th WKU 7 FAU 8 Final WKU 28 FAU 14 stats Wright-3 for 4 for 32 yards Rainey-31 carries for 230 yards, 3 TDs Simpson-19 carries for 116 yards, 1 TD Ticher-7 tackles, 6 solo, 2 TFL Clendenin-1 sack Analysis-Now this is more like it...a pretty dominating road win against a Sun Belt rival. The run game continues to amaze while we don't even need to pass at all basically...against better teams this would be a problem I'd imagine, but good thing we are in the Sun Belt. Defense stepped up big time after last weeks debacle and I am happy to get to 6 wins and bowl eligibility.... Next up, at home vs Bowling Green |

10th Scoring Summary 1st WKU 14 Bowling Green 10 2nd WKU 3 BGSU 14 3rd WKU 0 BGSU 10 4th WKU 21 BGSU 6 Final BGSU 40 WKU 38 stats Wright-9 for 17, 146 yards, 2 TDs 1 INT Rainey-24 carries for 166 yards, 1 TD (hurt for game late 3rd) Simpson-13 carries for 65 yards Miller-TD run Brooks/Jeter-TD reception each Tischer-6 tackles, 6 solo, 1 TFL, 1 sack Pierre-1 sack/1 int Lewis/Allen-sack each Analysis-You know how I said we've been getting the breaks so far in these close games? So much for that...We came back from down 34-17 to pull it to 37-31 late and then scored with 45 seconds left to take the lead by 1...only to see them drive right down the field and hit a 21 yard FG as time expired. Our defense is so disappointing, I can't rely on them for anything...On the plus side, Wright was just unstoppable in the 4th after a mediocre start, and he's the reason why we came back...just wish we could have won it. Oh well. Next up, at home vs FCS West |

We signed recruits 6-9, all *...WR Al Wilson from Dayton, Kentucky (255th), CB Victor Hodges from Versailles, Kentucky (203rd), DE Joseph Parsins from Blue Island, Illinois (223rd) and DE Travis Hagen from Mount Sterling, Kentucky (215th) 11th Game Scoring Summary 1st WKU 7 FCS West 0 2nd WKU 14 FCSW 7 3rd WKU 14 FCSW 0 4th WKU 14 FCSW 14 Final WKU 49 FCSW 21 stats Wright-2 for 4 for 25 yards Rainey-21 carries for 245 yards, 4 TDs Simpson-10 carries for 111 yards, 2 TDs Pierre-INT for a TD Hall-INT Analysis-Exactly what we needed after last weeks heartbreaker...and it guarantees us a winning record, one of the ADs requirements! My job security should be looking up, and I'm loving what great improvement we've made from year 1 to 2. I don't know if a 8-4 or 7-5 Sun Belt team will get a bowl invite, but we'll see... Season finale next week vs Arkansas State |

12th Game Scoring Summary 1st WKU 3 Arkansas State 7 2nd WKU 14 AKSU 0 3rd WKU 0 AKSU 10 4th WKU 7 AKSU 0 Final WKU 24 AKSU 17 stats Wright-3 for 7 for 40 yards, 1 INT Rainey-35 carries for 187 yards, 3 TDs Simpson-13 carries for 72 yards Clendenin-5 tackles, 4 solo, 2 TFL, 1 Sack Whitty/Henderson-1 sack each Hall-INT Analysis-What a great win! We dominated after the 1st quarter until we blew a 17-7 lead off a Wright pick 6, but then we rallied and got the game winning score with about 5 min left...they had 2 chances and couldn't score on us to tie it. The defense played one of their best games so far, and Hall has really been developing as a great corner for a defense that badly needed it...Clendenin has been making plays lately, too. We now finish 2nd in the Sun Belt, 1 game behind Troy, and our record is 8-4 (6-2)...remains to be seen if we get a bowl invite. |

Bowl Game Scoring Summary 1st WKU 14 Toledo 7 2nd WKU 3 Toledo 0 3rd WKU 7 Toledo 7 4th WKU 6 Toledo 14 Final WKU 30 Toledo 28 stats Wright-3 for 11 for 26 yards, 1 INT Rainey-37 carries for 306 yards, 2 TDs Simpson-10 carries for 36 yards Wright-4 carries for 44 yards, 1 TD Clendenin-3 tackles, 3 solo, 2 TFL, 1 sack Pierre-1 INT Analysis-What a 1st bowl game...wow. We blew a 27-14 lead quickly late in the game, topped off with a Wright pick 6 with 2 minutes left. We then drove down the field and struggled to do anything, but we got to around the 38 and then ran the ball on 3rd and long to get a few more yards, got to the 34 and kicked a game winning 51 yard FG as time expired...We now finish the season at 9-4, way better than I could have hoped for. Rainey is now the all time leading NCAA single season rushing leader with 2792 yards, and losing him will be devastating next year...but I'll worry about that later. Notable Season Stats for us Wright-59 for 141, 835 yards, 7 TDs 9 INTs Rainey-392 carries for 2792 yards, 30 TDs, 21 catches for 221 yards, 1 TD Simpson-150 carries for 871 yards, 4 TDs Brooks-17 catches for 337 yards, 4 TDs Clendenin-30 tackles, 26 solo, 11 TFL, 4 sacks Allen-42 tackles, 37 solo, 9 TFL, 3 sacks Tischer=52 tackles, 46 solo, 9 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT Hall and Pierre-4 INTs each BCS Bowl Results Rose-Iowa 31 Oregon 10 Fiesta-Clemson 38 Oklahoma 17 Orange-Miami 21 Wisconsin 13 Sugar-Alabama 20 Boise 10 BCS Title Game-West Virginia 30 Stanford 10 Final Top 10 1. Up 8 spots from last year, and hopefully your record will help build the prestige to the program and make it easier to nab higher quality guys. Good work so far though, getting the most out of the hand you were dealt. |
