Toledo Rockets at The Ohio State Buckeyes

TOL - 7
BUCKS - 39

Player Stats:
QB Chris Ticon

Passing
QB Rating / Completions / Attempts / Yards / TD / INT / CMP% / APC / Long / Sacks

Rushing

.....8 ...........-8......-1.0......0........3........0.....0.......0.......0

A nice efficient game from Ticon slinging it, but we're starting to see some potential cracks in the OSU armor. For the second game in a row the Buckeye Offensive Line had trouble holding up and Ticon had trouble getting the ball out quick enough. Getting sacked four times against a team like Toledo isn't going to cut it if this team wants a championship.

POTG: Dan Herron

Well that is disappointing. The Trojans were nearly 50-50 between run/pass, however there was no plays to the halfbacks in the passing game for this week's game-plan and Ellis was relegated to splitting carries with two other guys equally in the run game. Unfortunately none of them really separated from the pack or made the most of their touches so it will be interesting to see what happens with the position going forward.

Solid day against a tough team. That completion percentage is a bit low but we can let that slide a little as most of his passes were beyond 15 yards and he tossed some great deep bombs for big yardage and a couple touchdowns. It's something to keep an eye on going forward but if that's what he does on an average day this team will be just fine.

A flat out burner on the edge and clearly a guy who Donald Doccers loves to look towards often. Looks like he earned his way back onto special teams as well. A smart move as I really don't know why he isn't a permanent fixture on the return squad. Benjamin is extremely hard to pin down and is a legitimate scoring threat every time he touches the ball.

Another disappointing game out of the backfield for Ellis as he continues to split time with Marc Tyler and DJ Morgan fairly evenly. On a good note, Ellis was clearly the more productive player of the two this game. Hopefully that will help increase the number of carries percentage in his favor over the coming weeks. It is nice to see him get back to being an all around weapon this week and we'll just have to see what Head Coach Lane Kiffin plans are going forward in getting this budding young star a few more quality touches.

.....5.............3.......0.6......0........3........0.....0.......0.......1

Very pedestrian numbers from Ticon this week. The pass blocking is still struggling to find a good rhythm and now to make matters worse the depth up front takes a hit as Left Tackle Sam Luongo is out for 7 weeks with a Broken Wrist. The Buckeyes do get another notch in the win column behind the running of Dan Herron who has been putting his team on his back and carrying them to victory these past few weeks. That is going to have to continue and chris Ticion is going to have to step it up if this team wants to make a serious title run.

POTG: Dan Herron

Talk about putting your best stuff out on the field in big games. This may be the Donald Doccers coming out party, or it may just be a case of everything coming together for the team on this day... we'll have to find out as the season goes along. But for right now this is definitely something to point to as a defining moment for the Tide.

WR Christian Benjamin (CC)

Receiving
Receptions / Yards / AVG / TD / Long / YAC / Drops
......4.............87.....21.7.....1......44......50........0

His numbers took a bit of a hit this week but theres no reason for concern. Alabama just couldn't be stopped this game and the ball was simply finding its way into the hands of nearly every available player on the squad. I am starting to wonder what is going on with the special teams staff though. Did they have a grad student fill out the depth chart this week? There is no reason at all for not having Benjamin's name written in permanent marker as the primary kick and punt returner on this team.

Much better production here for Michael Ellis. Very solid Yards per Carry average and a very nice 45 yard touchdown reception late in the 3rd quarter to put an exclamation point on the game. Hopefully that is the spark he needs to start living up to his recruiting hype and stop being so mediocrely inconsistent.

Well I was afraid this was going to happen sooner or later. The offensive line simply couldn't hold up, with five players giving up at least one sack. Ticon was running for his life all game long and it led to bad passes, inconsistent drives and a woeful 6-16 (37%) on 3rd downs. An interception for a touchdown ran back by Penn State Nickelback Evan Lewis was pretty much the straw that broke the back of this Scarlett and Grey camel. Chris Ticon and the OSU offense tried to scramble back with two late fourth quarter touchdown passes but it was too late.

Well, statistically this wasn't a great game for Michael Ellis, however this was definitely a case of the Notre Dame defense just being great that day. Both defenses in fact were excellent and both sides had to fight for every inch they got. USC had two good touchdown drives in the game to Notre Dame's one, but it was the kickers who stole the highlights. USC was up by 2 with nearly no time left when Irish Kicker Nick Tausch drove the ball through the uprights with a 49 game winner making him 4-4 for the game.

A great game by Donald Doccers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. All in all this was a pretty easy game for the Tide QB simply because Ole Miss couldn't do anything to stop HB Mark Ingram. Ingram averaged 5.3 yards per carry and ended the day with 167 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries. When you have a gun-slinging quarterback who has four legit deep threats at wide receiver and throw in what is quite possibly the greatest tandem of halfbacks in the country... teams simply aren't able to stop everyone and thus end up having a hard time stopping any of them.

WR Christian Benjamin(CC)

Receiving
Receptions / Yards / AVG / TD / Long / YAC / Drops
......7.............70.....10.0.....1......23......46.......0

A bland stat line for Benjamin this week, but when the running game is clicking and virtually every receiver is getting open a large stat-line for one player isn't going to be likely.
