Year Two (2011) | Week 13 Review -------------------------- Oregon Ducks at USC Trojans OREG - 19 USC - 17 Player Stats: RB Michael Ellis (MPH) Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM .....11...........34.....3.0....0......09.......8.....0.......2.......0 Receiving Receptions / Yards / AVG / TD / Long / YAC / Drops ......4..............53.....13.2.....0......34......34.......0 Kick Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long .....2.........49.......20.0.....0.......22 Punt Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long .....3.........24.........8.0.....0.......12 This team is just way too inconsistent. They seem to follow up every good game with a really bad one and need to really step it up this off-season if they want to compete nationally. They need a complete overhaul on the offensive line as talent is down and depth is a big concern across the board but by far their weakest link is in the secondary. With only two legit CB's on the depth chart they need a maximum influx of talent to step on campus and compete right away. POTG: LaMichael James The Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan Wolverines BUCKS - 6 MICH - 34 Player Stats: QB Chris Ticon(Mofo) Passing QB Rating / Completions / Attempts / Yards / TD / INT / CMP% / APC / Long / Sacks ...191.6..............7................9..........122.......0.....0......77%........17.4......34......2 Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM ......8...........-2.........-0.2......2........0........0.....0.......0.......0 for the second week in a row Chris Ticon left the game early due to injury and was not table to return, however this time Backup QB Ken Guiton simply wasn't up to the task and sputtered into a 12-31, 92 yard game with no touchdowns and one INT. Meanwhile Dan Herron was held under 100 yards on the day and couldn't ever get any real momentum at all. Ticon should be ready to go again next week and hopefully this injury issue doesn't become a regular occurrence. POTG: Tate Forcier Georgia State Panthers (FCS) at Alabama Crimson Tide GSU - 3 BAMA - 51 Player Stats: QB Donald Doccers(Doc) Passing QB Rating / Completions / Attempts / Yards / TD / INT / CMP% / APC / Long / Sacks ...343.8.............10...............12..........215......4.....0......83%......21.5......60......0 Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM ......2..........8......4.0....0.......5........0.....0.......0.......0 Nothing like scheduling a FCS opponent midseason to pad the stats, get some rest and hope the rest of the top 10 fold like a cheap tent against real competition. C'mon Bama I know Slick Nick is your head coach and you've never been above taking the soft road.. but even this should be beneath you with a team that loaded. WR Christian Benjamin(CC) Receiving Receptions / Yards / AVG / TD / Long / YAC / Drops ......5.............150......30.0.....3......60......84.......0 Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM ......1..........9......9.0....0.......9........0.....0.......0.......0 Punt Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long .....2..........6.......3.0.....0.......5 Considering the level of competition I was sort of expecting a bit more substantial stats for Christian Benjamin. Nonetheless a solid stat bump on the season and they even let him line up and take a touch from the backfield. POTG: Trent Richardson BCS Top 25 1. Alabama 11-0 2. Utah 11-0 3. Boise State 11-0 4. Year Two (2011) | Week 14 Review -------------------------- USC Trojans at UCLA Bruins USC - 38 UCLA - 3 Player Stats: RB Michael Ellis (MPH) Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM .....21...........80.....3.8....0......9.......5.....0.......2.......0 Receiving Receptions / Yards / AVG / TD / Long / YAC / Drops ......5..............58.....11.6.....2......16......25.......0 Kick Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long .....1.........18........18.0.....0.......18 Punt Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long .....6.........57.........9.5.....0.......27 A model of inconsistant consistancy. Once again coming off a bad loss the Trojans put together a solidly convincing win. Ellis ran solidly and his two recieving TD's opened the game up nicely for his team but he really should be doing much better than he has with his talent. POTG: Matt Barkley Bowling Green Falcons at The Ohio State Buckeyes BGSU - 7 BUCKS - 38 Player Stats: QB Chris Ticon(Mofo) Passing QB Rating / Completions / Attempts / Yards / TD / INT / CMP% / APC / Long / Sacks ...164.7.............20................31.........252.......3.....0......64%........12.6......45......1 Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM ......5............3..........0.6......0........2........0.....0.......0.......1 At least he finished the game. And not only that he played pretty darn well. A good showing heading into the Rose Bowl and hopefully this team can continue to improve and go into the offseason with some positive momentum. Most of the pieces are in place to contend again next year but rebuilding the offensive line will be imperitive this recruiting cycle. POTG: Dan Herron Alabama Crimson Tide at Wake Forest Demon Deacons BAMA - 44 WAKE - 0 Player Stats: QB Donald Doccers(Doc) Passing QB Rating / Completions / Attempts / Yards / TD / INT / CMP% / APC / Long / Sacks ...257.8.............16...............19..........338......2.....1......84%......21.1......51......1 Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM ......6.........18......3.0....0.......6........0.....0.......0.......0 A solid win against another overmatched OOC opponent to tune up for the SEC Championship Game against the cinderella team of the 2011 season, the 7-5 (5-3) SEC East champion, Vanderbilt Commodores! (Which hopefully HB Mark Ingram will finally be back for) On a side note... nice stats for Backup Bama QB AJ McCarron going 1-1 for a 43 yard touchdown pass to WR Brandon Gibson earning him a nice 791.1 QB rating WR Christian Benjamin(CC) Receiving Receptions / Yards / AVG / TD / Long / YAC / Drops ......6.............142......23.6.....0......49......55.......0 Kick Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long .....1.........25......25.0.....0.......25 Punt Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long ....10........107......10.7.....0.......15 Another game, another solid statline for one of the nation's most explosive players. Starting QB Donald Doccers had a strong game before being taken out at the begining of the fourth quarter to get the backups a little work on the big stage. Alabama was able to run and pass at will over the Utah defense however they still struggled yet again to find the endzone once they enter the redzone with 7 redzone opportunites the Tide took it to the house a mere two times and were forced to kick 5 fieldgoals for a disapointing 7-2-5 redzone efficency statistic. Defensively is where this game was truly won and lost however. Utah was simply never able to do anything at all against the Crimson Tide defense. The Utes ended the game with zero redzone opportunites. They had just 97 passing yards and 72 rushing yards for 169 yards of total offense and recorded a paltry 7 first downs with a 3-17 (17%) 3rd down conversion ratio. WR Christian Benjamin(CC) Receiving Receptions / Yards / AVG / TD / Long / YAC / Drops ......7.............147......21.0.....0......43......43.......0 Another great game for Christian Benjamin, however he didn't find the endzone on this day. But I think on the biggest stage of his career thus far the young freshman performed exceptionally well and going forward a game like this can only improve his confidnence even further.. and winning a national title isn't bad either. Hopefully with a little more age, a few more recruits and a lot of luck next season the Trojans can get back to being in the BCS picture and Michael Ellis can live up to the hype of being recruited to be the next great USC running back. Hopefully with some more experiance and some new talent the team can improve and gel to take this team even further next year and in the future. Better offensive line play is definately needed to take the next step, but the biggest key to keep an eye on next year for improvement is the # of takeaways the team can create defensively. Limiting the other team's opportunities to score while giving your own team the ball a couple extra times a game can go a long way to deciding which trophy you are playing for at the end of the year. Alabama Crimson Tide Final Rank: 1st Final Record: 14-0 (9-0) Offensive Stats: Total Yards: 9,004 (1st) Total Offensive Yards: 7,353 (1st) Total Passing Yards: 4,315 (3rd) Total Rushing Yards: 3,038 (1st) Points Per Game: 44.7 (1st) Passing Touchdowns: 40 (1st) Rushing Touchdowns: 28 (1st) Sacks Allowed: 30 (t31st) First Downs: 354 (1st) Defensive Stats: Total Yards: 1,806 (1st) Total Pass Yards: 1,061 (1st) Total Rush Yards: 745 (1st) Total Points Allowed: 71 (1st) Total Sacks: 38 (27th) Total Fumble Recoveries: 12 (t16th) Total Interceptions: 18 (t22nd) Conversions: 3rd Down Attempts...3rd Down Conversions....3rd Down Percentage....Rank ............249.........................120..............................48%...................1st 4th Down Attempts...4th Down Conversions....4th Down Percentage....Rank ............17............................11.............................64%....................28th Offensive Red Zone Statistics: Red Zone Attempts...Touchdowns...Field Goals....Red Zone Percentage....Rank ...........94........................45................26.................75%.......................27th Defensive Red Zone Statistics: Red Zone Attempts...Touchdowns...Field Goals....Red Zone Percentage....Rank ...........10.........................3................5....................80%.......................94th Turnovers: Differential: +17 (2nd) Giveaways: 13 (3rd) Interceptions Thrown: 11 (t17th) Fumbles Lost: 2 (t1st) Takeaways: 30 (t18th) Interceptions Made: 18 (t22nd) Fumbles Recovered: 12 (t16th) Team Penalties: Penalties: 105 (t24th) Penalty Yards: 813 (t22nd) QB Donald Doccers(Doc) Player Stats: QB Rating / Completions / Attempts / Yards / TD / INT / AVG YPG / CMP% / APC / Long / Sacks ...171.5.............251..............378.........3,549.....35.....8.......253.5.........66%....14.1......68......18 Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / Average YPG / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM ......87........204......2.3.....4......15..........14.5...........35........0......8........0 Records/Awards: 2011 BCS Champion: 45-7 over Utah 2011 SEC Champion 2011 Heisman Trophy Winner 2011 All-NCAA 1st Team All-American 2011 All-NCAA Freshman Team All-American 2011 All-SEC 1st Team All-American Most Passing Touchdowns in a Season in School History (35) Most Passing Yards in a Season in School History (3,549) 1x SEC Offensive Player of the Week 6x Player of the Game Award Winner WR Christian Benjamin(CC) Player Stats: Rushing Attempts / Yards/ YPC / TD / Long / Average YPG / YAC / 20+ / BTK / FUM ......1............9.......9.0.....0.......9..........0.6................0........0.....0.........0 Receiving Receptions / Yards / AVG / TD / Long / Average YPG / YAC / YAC AVG / Drops ......84..........1,494.....17.7....13......68.........106.7.........734........8.7...........0 Kick Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long ....5.........122......24.4.....0......34 Punt Return Returns / Yards / AVG / TD / Long .....35.......307......8.7.....0......26 Records/Awards: 2011 BCS Champion: 45-7 over Utah 2011 SEC Champion 2011 Biletnikof Award Winner 2011 All-NCAA 1st Team All-American 2011 All-NCAA Freshman Team All-American 2011 All-SEC 1st Team All-American Most Touchdown Receptions in a Season in School History (13) Most Receiving Yards in a Season in School History (1,494) Summary: Well it doesn't get any better than that. Undefeated. National Champions. Easily the most potent offense and most dominant defense in the country. A Heisman Trophy. A Belitnikof award winner, and a few school records to boot. What in the hell can they do next year that could possibly top that? |
