East #8 Cleveland Cavaliers @ #1 Chicago Bulls - While the Bulls are somewhat historic under performers in the post-season, I don't see them losing here. The Cavs don't have the right parts in the right places (PF specifically) to exploit the Bulls bigger weaknesses and Kobe/GWall is a lot stronger than Lewis/Gordon. Unless Evans does something very special I don't see them winning here. Bull in 6 #7 Indiana Pacers @ #2 Orlando Magic - So assuming we spot the Pacers game 1 without Kyrie, I think we aren't giving the Pacers enough credit on their own. While the Magic do have a very great defense Indiana is no slouches either with B-Diddy being a sneaky A on D that could cause Kyrie some problems. Another key will be if they can shutdown Bosh. I think these are two very well matched teams, but I'll have to pick the Pacers because of that one road win when Kyrie is out. Pacers in 7 #6 Boston Celtics @ #3 Atlanta Hawks Boston has been red hot the 2nd half and since trading Granger have been one of the best teams in EBL. They have 4 good scorers all around Josh Howard who brings a solid defensive hand. A key match-up is if JSmoove can exploit the defense of David West enough and of course the battle of the two backcourts. It'll be close, but I have to give a slight edge to the Hawks. Don't be shocked at a Celtics upset though, the Atlantic is known for producing those in round 1. Hawks in 7 #5 Washington Wizards @ #4 Milwaukee Bucks The Bucks offense will always cause a lot of match-up problems for any team. Most seem to write off Lamarcus Aldridge as a total scrub, but AV helps immensely and Aldridge has been better lately. A big factor you might not see is JRich against JR Smith which is a HUGE advantage for the Wizards. Of course I want it to be enough to win the series (And will predict such) but I suppose if I was unbiased I might pick the Bucks. But I'm not, so fuck you. Wizards in 6 West #8 Portland Trailblazers @ #1 Oklahoma City Thunder Carl Landry is pretty much the only hope the Blazers have. Everyone knows that bullying the Thunder inside is the best way to beat them, and the Blazers will need to do that for an upset. With that said I don't know if their 3 is close enough to the Thunders to overcome them and Raymond Felton will need something special if they want a legit shot at the upset. Thunder in 4 #7 Houston Rockets @ #2 Denver Nuggets Denver is once again a 'sleeper' to make a post-season run and have bounced back surprisingly well from the loss of Chauncey Billups. As always on paper the Rockets should be better than their record and seeding. The end results however say otherwise. The SG spot isn't at a level to exploit any holes in Thornton's D and nobody will match Melo at SF. Amare will be seeing a lot of double teams so it really depends on if Brandon Jennings can shake his rep as an awful post-season player against the stunningly fast improved Nenad Miljenovic. Sadly, I think he will not. Nuggets in 6 #6 Golden State Warriors @ #3 Los Angeles Lakers The Warriors have finally put it all together and made the playoffs. The front court is still questionable, but the 5 (Or even 6) guys who make up their backcourt is too be feared. The Lakers are a three man show. Sadly their most useful weapon in this series (Pau Gasol) will miss both home games and I think Stephen Curry will eat Jose Calderon for lunch. Wade will also be hassled with constant double teams since the Lakers have little to no threat from the SF of even front court positions (Until Pau is back). It's close, but I am going with the Warriors to upset here. Warriors in 7 $5 Memphis Grizzlies @ #4 Minnesota Timberwolves So first off, John Wall is a beast. I don't know if there are any PG's who can match him (Maybe a few) and he'll be hard for Deron Williams and his so-so D to handle. Looking elsewhere the Grizzlies backcourt in general is a bit troubling while being the clear strength of the Wolves. Up front Bynum will need to play extra strong with K-Love dead. Minnesota's bigs aren't anything special, but they'll be enough to see their team squeak by the pre-season favorites here. Timberwolves in 6 Semi-Finals #5 Washington Wizards @ #1 Chicago Bulls The Wizards will again need a big performance from their front court here. I think JRich matches up well with Kobe, and underrated TP9 could balance out Rose. Depending what line-up they show the Wizards could get the upset here. And they will, because fuck not picking my team. Again. :shifty: Wizards in 7 #7 Indiana Pacers @ #3 Atlanta Hawks A big factor here is Michael Beasley. He's a scary player at SF and will be a serious problem with Aminu. Even if you move JSmoove over, than there is Bosh to give you a headache. I'd give the backcourt match-up to the Hawks but again B-Diddy & Artest are very good defenders who can cause problems. I'm actually going to pick a 2nd consecutive upset here and say the pacers sneak by on the back of either Bosh or Beasley. Pacers in 6 West #4 Minnesota Timberwolves @ #1 Oklahoma City Thunder A fascinating match-up of three great PG/SG/SF duos. I love Wall, but OKC gets the advantage in the other two spots. Front courts a wash, but the Thunder are actually better there too. I'll say OKC in a slightly longer than expected series. Thunder in 6 #6 Golden State Warriors @ #2 Denver Nuggets I'll say it now. If you get this far, start Terrence Jones. He's a glue guy who you'll need to have any hope of slowing down Melo. I like Austin Rivers a LOT against Thornton and feel Curry also has a heads up. If they can slow down Melo, they'll be capable of the upset. Even without it, I'm actually going to pick them anyways. Warriors in 7 Conference Finals #7 Indiana Pacers @ #5 Washington Wizards The Wizards provide a tough defensive test, but will have a hard time breaking down Davis and Artest with their strongest parts. Thompkins can play shutdown up front and I think AV will cause Bosh headaches. So yeah, go me again <_< Wizards in 7 #6 Golden State Warriors @ #1 Oklahoma City Thunder A big man haters dream. The Warriors and Thunder sees some of the best PG/SG/SF combinations in the league duke it out. Sadly in such a match-up, I have to favor the Thunder. Where the hell are the big men in the West? Thunder in 7 Finals #5 Washington Wizards @ #1 Oklahoma City Thunder Wizards swept them this year. Clearly they'll win here. Wizards in 7 ------------------------- Unbiased predictions: East #8 Cleveland Cavaliers @ #1 Chicago Bulls #7 Indiana Pacers @ #2 Orlando Magic #6 Boston Celtics @ #3 Atlanta Hawks #5 Washington Wizards @ #4 Milwaukee Bucks Round 2: #4 Milwaukee Bucks @ #1 Chicago Bulls #7 Indiana Pacers @ #3 Atlanta Hawks ECF: #7 Indiana Pacers @ #4 Milwaukee Bucks Finals: #4 Milwaukee Bucks @ #1 Oklahoma City Thunder |
