This is a pretty great Sting interview

The possibility of The Undertaker and Sting facing off in a "dream match" appear slim as the former WWE Champion may have already wrestled his last match.

Undertaker has been telling those close to him that although he doesn't completely rule out wrestling again, he does not expect to.

Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer said recently on Wrestling Observer Radio (audio available here), "The last we had heard, which was, I don't know what a month or two ago, it feels like a bit over a month ago, Undertaker was saying that he did not expect to ever wrestle again, but he didn't rule it out 100%, he just didn't expect it."

The publication last reported in June that The Undertaker was in bad shape after suffering multiple injuries in his WrestleMania 30 match with Brock Lesnar. Although he has been training in the gym, the possibility of a match next year at WrestleMania 31 in Santa Clara, California was "not looking good."

Sting has publicly lobbied for a match with The Deadman at the event. He said last week in an interview promoting WWE 2K15: "I've made it clear I'd love to have one last hurrah, one last big match hopefully. And of course I've been outspoken about Undertaker being the opponent. I know what happened at WrestleMania where Brock Lesnar broke his streak. I think, or at least I'm hoping, that Taker's still going to come back and that he's not done. If he's not done, and he would consider doing it, I'd love to work with him one time. I'd love to wrestle him one time before I call it quits."

No surprise (I'd expect to hear 100% from Taker right now) but if he's saying the same in January then it will be legit. Too far away from WM 31 for now.

- According to F4wonline (via WrestleZone) when Mark Henry returns, he will be part of the new stable that formed on Raw last night. That stable includes Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston.

Now that would actually be a good fit and better than anyone else they currently have.

WWE may have canceled plans for a follow-up match between Rusev and Jack Swagger. The plan was the two to fight each other at several PPVs but the rivalry isn't expected to continue. It's unknown if the controversy over what Lana said at Battleground played a role in the decision, but it's possible.

I was starting to wonder why Main Event was booked the way it was and maybe this sheds some light on it.

- Chris Jericho beating Bray Wyatt at Battleground on Sunday surprised a lot of people. This is true for WWE as well, as Wyatt was originally set to win the match. Betting lines showed that Wyatt was the clear favorite to win. As of Saturday afternoon, Wyatt was planned as the winner in creative meetings, but some time later Vince McMahon decided that Jericho would win instead.

The feud is expected to continue through Summerslam next month and Night of Champions in September. Jericho's last night with WWE is the RAW after Night of Champions.

And I guess we know what will happen with Wyatt.

There has been a lot of talk within WWE lately about John Cena's movie career. PWInsider noted that some of the wrestlers have joked that Cena will start "bringing it via satellite" soon.

We noted that Cena will be missing several upcoming WWE events due to filming of The Nest and Trainwreck.

There have been people backstage speculating that if Cena's movie work takes off, given how banged up he is, he could be the next one to walk away from WWE for a Hollywood career in the next few years.

It would be pretty funny to see him do that but I doubt it happens

We noted before that WWE was still planning a babyface push for Cesaro but that it was on hold until they "needed it." It appears after this week's WWE events that they may be going in a different direction with Cesaro's push.

Regarding Cesaro as a babyface, he was planned for a significant push at the end of this summer but the decision was made, even before Daniel Bryan went down with an injury, that the big babyface focus would be put on getting Roman Reigns to the top.

Seems like the ship is starting to sail on Cesaro..they never followed up his momentum around Wrestlemania with anything.

Her comments could have (but didn't) reference the recent Malaysia Airlines tragedy when she shamed the American crowd for blaming Russia for "recent current world events"

Not really a spoiler, but I'll spoiler it in case anyone might care. It's someone who showed up at the Comic-Con Panel.

It's Not CM Punk

Paul Heyman appeared on The MMA Hour yesterday and said CM Punk's goal in life is to never lace up his wresting boots again, whether it be for WWE, Ring of Honor, Japan or anywhere else.

Heyman said Punk believes if he comes back, he will be a failure. Heyman also thinks that Punk feels his success in life is predicated on never going back.

Heyman also noted that he believes WWE doesn't want Punk back ever again. Of course there's always the chance that something happens down the road and Heyman pointed this out.

Within WWE, there's a feeling that even if Punk wanted to come back, WWE wouldn't let him and right now, they do not want him back. It's said that there still could be legal issues coming out of Punk's departure from the company.

Very interesting stuff here...I'd say nobody is more serious than Punk is when he says he will never wrestle again and this explains it further.

Details are still sketchy regarding Thursday's firing of Al Rodriguez (Alberto Del Rio) by WWE.

The story going around is that he slapped a a Social Media manager, at this week's television, but there are a variety of different stories going around regarding what led to this.

Based on sketchy stories and what wrestlers have been talking about, at catering, somebody asked the person to clean off his plate. The person joked something along the lines of how that's Del Rio's job. Del Rio found out and confronted him. As the story goes, he didn't apologize and then smiled at him, and Del Rio slapped him.

The belief is he will have a 90 day non-compete, which is likely to apply to TNA and AAA, both of which have interest in him. AAA would certainly be interested in him for the company's U.S. expansion.

So, yeah, at least it is a legit reason.

WWE officials reportedly have "given up" on the push for Bo Dallas, which explains why his winning streak was ended by R-Truth a few weeks back. We've noted before that Bo was one of the gimmicks that Vince McMahon had lost interest in.

There have been a lot of rumors going around of Vince McMahon and Triple H "butting heads" creatively, including who to have Brock Lesnar face at WrestleMania 31. The rumor is that Vince wants The Rock vs. Lesnar while Triple H wants Roman Reigns vs. Lesnar.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that there is certainly word going around WWE that Vince sometimes undercuts Triple H and makes him look bad but it could be a case of the "good cop/bad cop" dynamic. Meltzer noted that he doesn't sense any strong negative feelings between the two.

The Rock beating Brock for the title seems like a really dumb decision, unless Vince wants Brock to continue as champ past WM.

We've noted that Rob Van Dam was expected to finish his current WWE run after SummerSlam. Word this weekend was that RVD's last match could have been against Cesaro last night on the Kickoff pre-show. This is interesting because WWE usually has talents lose on their way out.

It has not been confirmed that RVD won't work this week's RAW or SmackDown but the talk going around was that this current run is done and RVD will be back when he's ready.

RVD can take all the time he wants as far as I'm concerned.

As seen in the Hulk Hogan birthday celebration during last week's WWE RAW, Brock Lesnar crashed the party and told Hogan to his face, "Party's over grandpa."

That line from Lesnar to Hogan was not in the script and was something that Lesnar came with on his own, possibly with assistance from Heyman.

For what it's worth, Hogan appeared on the Kevin & Bean radio show on Friday and besides heavily praising John Cena, he cut a promo about wanting to face Lesnar for the title. Hogan has been telling fans and media that he's planning one wrestling one more match for WWE.

http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2014/0818/580171/backstage-news-on-brock-lesnar-recent-jab-at-hulk-hogan/

Hogan can plan whatever he wants, I highly doubt the WWE lets him wrestle

WWE officials are not happy with Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio right now for working with the AAA promotion in Mexico. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is worried about being painted as racists, especially to the Latino community that they have been trying to create a new Superstar for ever since Rey stopped working full-time due to injuries.

http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2014/0818/580180/wwe-officials-very-upset-with-mysterio-and-del-rio/

What a bunch of racists :shifty:

Brock is also planning on merging the titles tonight and will be presented the new WWE title with the new logo.

I don't see how WWE should be surprised. AAA has been pretty clear about US expansion and letting go of their two biggest stars in that market at the same time is obviously going to end like that. It's pretty big for AAA to have two known commodities in the US (And the world) who are of Mexican decent to help them draw in the new American market. Not to say Del Rio and Rey are huge draws (Although Rey was a big merch seller) but they are probably better known in the US than anyone on their roster.

Rock vs. Brock would be awful no matter who wins (Unless it's non-title) and I'd rather Reigns even if I don't paticularly care for him. It's one thing to have a part time guy facing a full timer and they can even go over (See: Rock/Cena) but having two of them go head to head at your biggest PPV for what's supposed to be the richest prize in your company when the odds are one or both will be gone not too long after? I think you'd get just as big buys with them in seperate matches and can even do Rock/Brock at the Rumble or something to maybe give that show a boost.
