Yeah, on that barricade powerbomb spot, Finn stuck his arm out behind him for some reason and you could tell he hurt it. Pretty crazy how early that happened and the match went on.

I honestly hope it isn't anything too serious. They just introduced a brand new title that most people already hate, and if Finn has to relinquish the belt due to injury, that's not going to help things any. Not to mention what that might do for his push.

The finish to Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton at WWE SummerSlam went pretty much as planned but led to a big incident between Chris Jericho and Lesnar backstage.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, multiple sources report that Jericho came to the gorilla position as the match ended, apparently to find out exactly what happened and to see if Orton was alright. Jericho asked WWE producer Michael "PS" Hayes if that was the planned finish and Hayes wouldn't respond. Jericho then said, "That's bulls--t."

Jericho's "bulls--t" comment came just as Lesnar was returning backstage. Lesnar, thinking Jericho was talking about the match, called Jericho a "p---y," according to one version, or just said "shut up," according to another version, and for Jericho to mind his own business. They came face to face and had words. One version of the story says they were shouting at each other the whole time.

Lesnar reportedly pushed Jericho with his fingers. Jericho then did what was described as the "Rousey-Tate" forehead press. Another version of the story said Jericho shoved Lesnar into the wall. The two were then tangled up against the wall when Lesnar told Jericho to either punch him or kiss him. Triple H then jumped in and broke things up. The two went at it again but this time Vince McMahon broke it up. Jericho was then yelling about Lesnar and Vince told him that everything was a work, and to be professional.

Triple H reportedly told Vince that Lesnar started the fight, and that Jericho was just standing up for himself. No more words were exchanged but Jericho saw Orton's condition and got mad. It was noted that Jericho was concerned with Orton's health and safety, but Orton assured him that he knew what was going to happen.

Brendan Dassey, who was one of the subjects of Netflix's hit documentary series Making a Murderer, is apparently going to WrestleMania, according to a report from The Wrap. Dassey's murder conviction was overturned earlier this month after a nine-year stint in prison due to a judge stating that police investigators coerced his confession. Prosecutors have 90 days to decide if they will attempt to re-try Dassey.

One of Dassey's concerns when he was convicted for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach was that he would be missing WrestleMania that year. Porn site xHamster stated that they are working with Dassey's family to send him to WrestleMania 33 in Orlando next year.

"We are pleased that we can make this young man's dream of going to Wrestlemania come true," said xHamster spokesman Alex Hawkins. "We have been in talks with the family and they are more than thrilled that Brendan will get this opportunity after so many years of heartache and injustice. We are waiting on a response from Brendan and we know he will be thrilled that he is going to Wrestlemania when he gets out."

Definitely felt bad for the guy when he said he didn't want to miss Wrestlemania that year (and it showed how unaware he was at the time of how big the consequences were) and I am happy to see him get rewarded for his wrongful conviction now.

Alberto Del Rio is finished with WWE. According to sources close to the situation, Del Rio informed WWE through his lawyer that he was opting out 60 days ago.

Del Rio was apparently frustrated with the empty promises he was given after being recruited to the company last summer. Del Rio had been promised a main event push, but instead was quickly put into a Mex-America angle that went nowhere, followed by being bundled as part of the mid card heel faction, the League of Nations.

As noted, WWE announced on August 17th that Del Rio and his real-life girlfriend, Saraya-Jade Bevis, a.k.a. Paige, were both suspended for 30 days for their first violations of the company's Wellness Policy. The timing is interesting given that Del Rio had given his notice several weeks earlier, in late June.

Del Rio last wrestled for the company on the August 19th episode of SmackDown, where he faced John Cena. He is not expected to return to the company at all, and is free at the end of September to work anywhere in the United States. He will be able to work in Mexico and abroad imminently.

On WWE Network's Legends With JBL, the former WWE World Champion sat down for an exclusive interview with WWE Hall Of Famer, Sting. Although the professional wrestling great officially announced his retirement from the squared circle during his WWE Hall Of Fame speech, 'The Icon' suggested that he is holding off on neck surgery in case his dream match against The Undertaker comes to fruition.

According to 'Stinger', he feels "normal" now after sustaining a neck injury during his championship match against Seth Rollins at WWE Night Of Champions in 2015. 'The Franchise' of WCW acknowledged that he is supposed to have neck surgery, but he has been putting it off.

"I am supposed to have surgery, but I'm having so many mixed messages out there. And the one thing I keep hearing is 'if you're not having side effects and you're okay, then don't do it.'"

Sting has been delaying the operation, as going under the knife would mean that he is "probably" done with professional wrestling. The former 'Blade Runner' has been holding out hope for a match with The Undertaker and he indicated that his professional wrestling career did not conclude the way he would have liked. When pressed by JBL, the master of 'The Scorpion Deathlock' admitted that he still wants a match with The Undertaker deep down and called it "unfinished business".

"Yeah, that's the unfinished business. I've always wanted to have that match. I know wrestling fans have always wanted to see it too."

With less than 100 days until WrestleMania 33, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials have locked in just three matches - Big Show vs. Shaquille O'Neal, Triple H vs. Seth Rollins and Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar.

While a potential match with John Cena vs. The Undertaker was somewhat acknowledged on this week's SmackDown, Vince McMahon has not decided on that match but it is possible. Another probable is a multi-person match for the RAW Women's Title.

Regarding The Undertaker's match, the likely opponent is Cena but current WWE United States Champion Roman Reigns is also being considered with the feeling that Reigns is the future and Cena vs. Taker doesn't build for the future, and this could be Taker's last WrestleMania match. If Cena wins the WWE Title from AJ Styles or Reigns wins the Universal Title from Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble, it looks like Taker could be in line for a title shot in Orlando.

Taker has not been announced for the Royal Rumble main event next month but potential WrestleMania scenarios would make him a favorite. Braun Strowman is another favorite to win the Rumble, indicating a win by Reigns over Owens at the Rumble to set up Braun vs. Reigns at WrestleMania. The storyline between Owens and Chris Jericho has been brewing for months and it's believed they will face off at WrestleMania but that hasn't been confirmed.

http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2016/1229/620775/backstage-update-on-potential-wrestlemania-33-plans-for-the/

So the top 5 of WM could be Cena-Taker, Roman-Braun, HHH-Rollins, Big Show-Shaq, Goldberg-Brock....seems like AJ Styles is missing in there somewhere.

For what it's worth, Kurt Angle has been telling indie promoters that he's returning to WWE in April, perhaps in time for WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd.

Angle is scheduled to wrestle Alberto Del Rio for the first time on February 12th in the UK for WCPW and then will face Cody Rhodes for their third match but has told promoters he's not accepting indie dates past those two.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter adds that there are all sorts of rumors going around in regards to Angle and WWE. It should be noted that this wouldn't be the first time Angle has told promoters he's returning to WWE and with the way the rumor mill heats up for WrestleMania season, this should be taking as a rumor for now.

The Royal Rumble takes place this Sunday night and WrestleMania is just two months away with no matches announced at this point. Some potential matches are obvious while others are tough to figure out. Keep in mind that there are also Smackdown’s Elimination Chamber event on February 2 and Raw’s Fastlane on March 5, so a lot of things that look obvious at the Rumble could be altered in the weeks ahead.

According to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is considering the following matches at WrestleMania 33:

Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar

The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns

Triple H vs. Seth Rollins

Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho

Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton

Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal

Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax for the Raw Women’s Title.

Other matches that could happen are John Cena vs. Samoa Joe and AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon.

There is also a plan in place where neither Kevin Owens nor A.J. Styles will be champions going into WrestleMania. That doesn’t mean they are dropping their titles at the Royal Rumble, but it’s certainly a possibility.

Regarding Orton vs. Wyatt, Meltzer notes that Wyatt was scheduled for a WWE Title run in 2017, which means that both Orton and Wyatt are serious contenders to win the Royal Rumble because if one of them wins, the other could win the title in the Elimination Chamber match. Meltzer added that “there’s a story that just started going around about Orton winning the Rumble and Wyatt winning the Chamber match. If that doesn’t happen, it would be because plans changed.”

Undertaker vs. Reigns is set to take place because “Vince McMahon made the call to go from the original Undertaker vs. Cena direction to this match” according to Meltzer. It could be the time to set up Reigns as a heel because he’s going to get booed against Undertaker at WrestleMania whether he wins or loses. Clearly WWE is trying to give Reigns the rub of an Undertaker match at a WrestleMania. Even though the Undertaker is no longer undefeated at WrestleMania, his match is still a big deal.

The WrestleMania opponent for John Cena isn’t officially confirmed at this moment, but a match against Samoa Joe apparently was pitched.

As for AJ Styles, the name linked to him is Smackdown’s Commissioner Shane McMahon. Original plans were for Shane to face Brock Lesnar, but with Goldberg signing with WWE until WrestleMania that meant a new opponent for Shane. Styles is a big name that has complained about how things are unfair, so that makes sense storyline wise.

Based on those current plans, there’s nothing specific for Braun Strowman. He could be the Andre the Giant battle royal winner as a way to put him over and give him momentum for post Mania season when the part timers are gone.

What isn’t known, at least according to the Observer, is who might win the Royal Rumble on Sunday. If anything, these reports suggest a lot of things are possible in terms of a winner and that’s a good thing.

As we know from watching WWE over the years, plans can always change.

Taker vs Roman is OK but I'd much rather see Cena vs Taker. Bray vs Orton potentially for the WWE title would be a surprise. Cena vs Joe could be fun.

As seen at The Royal Rumble last night, Kevin Owens defeated Roman Reigns to retain the WWE Universal Championship after outside interference from Braun Strowman.

We first reported last week that a Reigns vs. Braun Strowman program was in the works after The Royal Rumble, as the two are scheduled to face each other on RAW house shows heading into WrestleMania. Marc also noted later that week that Owens will be facing Sami Zayn at those shows.

The Owens vs. Zayn matches will be for the WWE Universal Championship, although Dave Meltzer noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that the Reigns vs. Strowman matches will be headlining those shows. While Reigns and Strowman will be wrestling each other at live events, the plan is for Reigns to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania, which was teased during the Royal Rumble match last night.

We noted on last night's episode of the Wrestling Inc. podcast that it appears as if Kevin Owens vs. Goldberg for the WWE Universal Champion will take place at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view on March 5th, with Goldberg winning the title and then defending against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33. Meltzer said that it is indeed the plan. Meltzer had first reported in last week's issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that neither AJ Styles or Owens were scheduled to go into WrestleMania as champion.

Goldberg does not work WWE live events, so if he were to defeat Owens at Fastlane as scheduled, that would mean that the WWE Universal Championship would not be defended at live events between Fastlane and WrestleMania. That has been the case for the past two WrestleManias as well, as Triple H went into WrestleMania 32 as WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Lesnar did the same at WrestleMania 31, despite either man working a full time house show schedule.

Not sure why Brock vs Goldberg needs a title attached but apparently it will have one.
