WCW Thursday Thunder
June 21, 2001
Announcers: Scott Hudson & Don Calliss

The Mouth of the South Returns
After the standard opening video for Thunder, the Extreme Champion Mike Awesome made his way down to the ring to start the show. Coming along with Mike Awesome to the ring was 'The Mouth of the South' Jimmy Hart - complete with megaphone. The duo climbed into the ring and Jimmy Hart took the microphone and introduced Awesome as the Extreme Champion. Jimmy Hart explained his prescense by telling the story of how Awesome had been forced to be a sidekick to Lance Storm for so long - but now he's on his own and he wanted to find someone to represent him...someone who has a history of representing the biggest, the nastiest, the meanest monsters ever in the WCW ring. And not just that, someone who has a history of representing champions such as himself. Who better to represent him then The Mouth of the South himself?

Hart than hyped up Awesome as being a force to be reckoned with. He promised Awesome was going to be the Extreme Champion for a LONG time because no one does Extreme better than Mike Awesome. Just look what happened to everyone who got in his way in the Extreme Championship Tournament. He left a pile of broken bodies on his way to the title.

Out came Tommy Dreamer, who had some bandages on his body from the effects of the title match at The Great American Bash. Dreamer said he was man enough to admit he lost fair and square at Great American Bash...but is Mike Awesome man enough to give Dreamer another shot at the title? Dreamer said he came to ECW specifically to be a part of the Extreme Division...and that means that title Awesome has around his waist is his ultimate goal.

Hart conversed with Awesome away from the microphone. Awesome glanced over to Dreamer and snarled. Jimmy Hart returned to the microphone to announce that Mike Awesome would be more than happy to destroy Dreamer in the ring once again...in fact, he'll do it TONIGHT!

Dreamer was clearly satisfied with the answer to his challenge as the match was set up for later tonight as Dreamer would challenge Mike Awesome for the Extreme Championship!

Extreme Rules Match
Terry Funk vs. Johnny 'The Bull' Stamboli (w/Kimberly Page)

In a match which Scott Hudson suggested would have title contendership implications - Stamboli looked to get his hands on the man he called out weeks ago for being 'too old' to be in the Extreme Division. Funk showed Stamboli just what a hardcore legend like himself was capable of - taking a beating straight to Stamboli as Kimberly watched on with concern as her man looked to be on the ropes. However, a distraction from Kim proved to be the openign Stamboli needed to fight back, driving a chair into Funk's back. A DDT to the chair set up a very close two count. Stamboli continued on the attack, eventually calling to Kimberly for his chain. Kim tossed him the chain and he wrapped his fist with it...but as he waited for Funk to get to his feet so he could deck him with the chain...Dustin Rhodes slid into the ring! Rhodes ran and hit a running bulldog to Stamboli! Rhodes pulled Stamboli back to his feet - Curtain Call! Rhodes rolled out of the ring and walked to the back as Funk pulled himself up. He pulled Stamboli back up and delivered a piledriver onto the chair in the ring to pick up the three count victory over Stamboli!
WINNER - Terry Funk by pinfall via interference

Don't Mess with Daddy
Backstage, Michelle Gold had caught up with Dustin Rhodes after he had attacked Johnny Stamboli during his match with Funk, costing Stamboli the match. Dustin explained that his actions should be obvious - Stamboli messed with the wrong family...if he thought he could just attack his father like that and get away with it - he's obviously got another thing coming. Dustin explained he'd been in this business long enough to know when someone needs to have some respect BEAT into them..and someone was going to have to do it to Stamboli to teach him a thing or two about this business...and after what he did to his dad - Dustin gladly accepted that responsibility.

Sean O'Haire vs. Chuck Palumbo
After weeks of avoiding his former tag partner, after Palumbo's attack on O'Haire on Nitro - a singles match was finally signed to put the two partners against one another. Palumbo seemed very uncertain about being in the ring with O'Haire, given his tendancy to lose control of his anger...especially when he was someone who made him so angry. After some attempted offense early - Palumbo ducked to ringside as soon as O'Haire started to work him over. This didn't make O'Haire too happy, and he gave chase to ringside. O'Haire batteld with Palubmo at ringside before rolling him back into the ring and continuing to dominate him in the ring...after a rolling fireman's carry slam - O'Haire climbed to the top turnbuckle for the Seanton Bomb...but Palumbo rolled out of the way when O'Haire flew off the top. Palumbo immediately went for the pin - but only got a two count. A worried and frustrated Palumbo went to ringside and returned with a chair. Referee Billy Silverman tried to step in, but Palumbo shoved him out of the way and Palumbo cracked the chair across O'Haire's back as he was recovering. Silverman called for the bell.
WINNER - Sean O'Haire by disqualification
(64/52/77)

Palumbo didnt' seem to care about the DQ and drove another chairshot down onto the now fallen O'Haire. Before he could dish out much more damage - Crowbar ran from the back. Crowboar springboarded into the ring with a dropkick to Palumbo! Palumbo hit the mat and rolled out of the ring to safety - escpaing any further attack from Crowbar. Crowbar paced around the ring, pulling his hair as Palumbo slowly backed up the ramp. Crowbar kneeled over O'Haire as the show headed to break.

The Prophet...
A hype video aired for a mysterious new wrestler that was only refered to as 'The Prophet.' We do not get a good look at who the Prophet is as the screen is too dark - we can only make out a hooded figure through the shadows. The Prophet spoke to us - telling us he was coming to gather the lost sheep of WCW and give them purpose. He explained that so many people have lost their way...they need someone to show them the path to enlightenment. The Prophet will soon make his WCW debut..

Shane Douglas vs. Konnan
According to Scott Hudson, the winner of this match would be in-line for a WCW United States title shot. Don Callis wondered why Douglas even had to wrestle for the shot given he was the last champion and never got his rematch. Neither man received much fanfare - as Konnan received a mix reaction after his recent attacks on Hugh Morrus...during the match he fought fire with fire against the usual cheating of Shane Douglas - showing he too could play the dirty game. Konnan stomped on Douglas' fingers and raked his eyes to keep control of the former US Champion. Konnan was unable to put Douglas away early while he was in control and Douglas fought his way back into the match, hitting a big belly-to-belly suplex to Konnan - but was surprised when he only got a two count. Some arguing with the referee hurt Douglas' chances as it allowed Konnan to recover. Konnan hit a Rolling Thunder clothesline to Douglas, followed by a facebuster before he locked Douglas into the Tequila Sunrise! Douglas almost immediately tapped out!
WINNER - Konnan by submission
(76/74/79)

The Juice is Back!
Juventud Guerrera made his way down to the ring to a mixed reaction from the live audience. Juvi climbed into the ring and took the microphone from the ring announcer and climbed the turnbuckles.

"FINALLY...................

THE JUICE...

HAS COME BACK...TO WCW!"

Juvi paused dramatically as the fans met him with a wide mixture of cheers and boos. Juvi climbed back down off the turnbuckle and explained that Shane Helms was lucky to walk out of The Great American Bash with the WCW Cruiserweight Title...Juvi came back for that and the $500,000 bonus of beating Helms for the belt, and the Juice has not taken his eyes off that prize. Juvi explained there's nothing in the rules that says you can't try more than once for the $500,000. But first, he had some jabroni he had to beat tonight..

Juventud Guerrera vs. Lash LeRoux
This cruiserweight singles competition saw Juvi trying to impress us in his first match back on free television. LeRoux took control early against the Juice - slowing the speedy latino down and grounding him to the mat. As the match progressed, LeRoux's former partner Chavo Guerrero made his way down to the ring - showing support for his friend. Chavo clapped agressively each time LeRoux took Juvi down to the mat. It started to actually become a distraction to LeRoux, who seemed confused as to what Chavo was even doing at ringside. When LeRoux turned to ask Chavo about it, Juvi scored a rollup to LeRoux - One, Two, kickout! Both men rolled back to their feet, and Juvi suddenly found himself in the driver's seat. Chavo slammed his palms on the apron trying to get LeRoux back into the match, but it was futile for LeRoux...Juvi had taken control and finished LeRoux off with the Juvidriver for the three count victory.
WINNER - Juventud Guerrera by pinfall
(74/63/85)

After the match, once Juvi had left the ring - still celebrating his victory. Chavo climbed into the ring and helped LeRoux to his feet. LeRoux shoved Chavo away and wanted to know why he was out there, telling him he cost him the victory. Chavo denied it and offered a handshake out of friendship to LeRoux. LeRoux looked around, reluctant, but he apparently forgave Chavo and shook his hand. An elated Chavo lifted LeRoux's arm up in victory - but LeRoux, not one to celebrate a loss, pulled his arm back down and headed to the back. Chavo followed closely behind...

Open Auditions
A pre-recorded video showed Evan Karagias and Shannon Moore performing their new single "Without U." But they then begin to talk to the camera, discussing how the band had just been missing something without a third member. That's why they are beginning the search for the new member of 3 Count! Karagias explained if anyone wants to try out for the band - auditions will begin very soon. He gave us the website address www.threecountaudition.com where we could sign up - a select few would be chosen for an audition and one lucky winner will join 3 Count permanently!

The Filthy Animals vs. 3 Count
In what was a bit of a 'warm-up' for Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman, they took on 3 count as they prepared for their upcoming WCW Tag Titles rematch with Jindrak & Stasiak on Nitro this week. But you certainly can't accuse Mysterio and Kidman of looking past 3 Count, because they came prepared. Karagias and Moore got in some early offense against the former champions - but the Animals quickly retook a firm control of the match. After a few nearfalls, Karagias snuck in a low blow behind the referee's back to slow Kidman down. Karagias and Moore briefly retook control of the match - taking turns tagging in against Kidman, until Karagias made the fatal error of trying to powerbomb Kidman. This resulted in a reversal into a facebuster to Karagias. The hot tag was made to Rey who quickly cleaned house and ended the match with the West Coast Pop to Karagias for the three count.
WINNERS - The Filthy Animals by pinfall
(76/67/86)

MAIN EVENT - WCW Extreme Title Match
Mike Awesome (c) (w/Jimmy Hart) vs. Tommy Dreamer

With his new mouthpiece at ringside, Mike Awesome was looking to make his first title defense a solid one. But Dreamer was bound and determined to make Awesome's title reign a short one. Dreamer went right at Awesome from the opening bell, but his punches where having little effect on Awesome - who fired back with a knee lift to Dreamer's midsection and sent him to the mat with a clubbing blow to his back. Awesome was looking dominant early as Hart tossed him a chair from ringside. Awesome worked over Dreamer with the chair as Hart continued to aid his beast by pulling a table out from under the ring and sliding it into the ring. Awesome set up the table and looked to finish Dreamer off right away with the Awesome Bomb, but after being lifted into the air - Dreamer began pounding away on Awesome's forehead. Awesome stumbled with Dreamer, and Dreamer used the opportunity to turn the powerbomb into a DDT through the table! Dreamer was unable to make the cover right away...as he took some abuse going through the table as well. Dreamer finally rolled over and made the cover - One, Two, Thr...kickout by Awesome!

Dreamer made use of the chair already in the ring to try and wear down Awesome some more, keeping the powerhouse from using his size and power to fight back. Jimmy Hart yelled through the megaphone to try and get Awesome back into the match. Dreamer would look for the DreamerDriver, but Awesome escaped down Dreamer's back and then tossed him over the top rope to the floor! Awesome then ran off the ropes and hit a suicide dive onto Dreamer! Both men crashed into the ring barrier. At ringside, the two battled back and forth as the wear and tear from the extreme rules match was starting to slow both men down. However, Awesome took firm control after catapulting Dreamer head first into the steel ring post. Awesome took advantage and hit the Awesome Bomb to the concrete on Dreamer! Sensing victory, Awesome picked up Dreamer's seemingly lifeless body and rolled him back into the ring. Awesome climbed to the top turnbuckle...AWESOME SPLASH to Dreamer - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - Mike Awesome by pinfall
(79/72/89)

Jimmy Hart climbed into the ring and handed Awesome the Extreme Championship. He raised Awesome's arm in victory and was met with boos from the crowd. The show came to a close with Awesome putting one foot on the fallen Dreamer and lifting the Extreme Championship into the air.

WCW Tuesday Nitro
June 26, 2001
Announcers: Mike Tenay & Glenn Gilbertti

A Stipulation Added
Tenay and Gilbertti welcomed us to the show, and hyped up tonight's main event which will see The Filthy Animals attempt to regain the WCW Tag Titles against the same team that defeated them for it at Great American Bash - Jindrak & Stasiak..

But to kick the show off, Shane McMahon made his way down to the ring.

Shane reminded us that last week, Ric Flair..with some assistance...defeated Sting to win himself a rematch against Booker T at Bash at the Beach. Shane stated that Flair and Booker T have been going back and forth since he got here in WCW, and as far as he's concerned...this will be the LAST chance for Flair to win the title from Booker T, and if Flair wins, it will be Booker T's last chance against Flair! Thus making it the final confrontation between Flair and Booker.

And for such a huge match for such bitter rivals...just the standard rules are not going to apply to them. This needs to be a match that is suitable for two enemies to go out and not walk out to one man is unable to walk out under his own strength.

Before McMahon could suggest a match, Ric Flair made his way down to the ring in suit and tie. Flair entered the ring and said he was happy to see Shane McMahon finally was making the right decisions for the company - after he wins the title back at Bash at the Beach - he won't have to worry about that pesky Booker T sticking his nose back into his business. And Flair said he had an idea of just the kind of match Shane McMahon has in mind. Flair suggested a SUBMISSION match for the confrontation between he and Booker T for the title.

Shane McMahon rubbed his chin and deliberated, but before he could respond - Booker T walked out, clearly wanting to give his two cents. Booker T said he had no problems with this being the 'final confrontation' and that if it's going to be his last chance to whoop up on Flair, he wants it to be no limits. He said just keep it simple..no disqualification, no holds barred...just a drag out, beatout match where Booker will have the chance to beat the tar out of Ric Flair.

Shane McMahon said he actually liked both suggestions...so he had a compromise....at Bash at the Beach, when Flair and Booker T meet in the ring for one last WCW Title match....it will be an...I QUIT match! He said they could just go at one-another until the other one just can't take it any more and has to verbally say he quits! Flair had no problems, assuring he'd make Booker T say those words while locked in the Figure Four. But Booker T said there was no way he'd ever say those two words, so the WCW Title would be safe with him. Now can you dig that...SUCCCKKKAAAAAA!

Chavo Guerrero vs. Kash
After being unsuccesful in tag team action with his reformed teaming with Lash LeRoux, Chavo went back to singles competition this week against the young cruiserweight Kash. Chavo started the match with a handshake to the youngster, but as the match progressed...Guerrero's friendly demeanor changed as his old heel tactics started to show. The fans began to turn on Chavo during the match as he pulled out several dirty tricks from his handbook everytime it looked like Kash was starting to get some momentum. In the end, Chavo laid out Kash with a brainbuster before climbing to the top turnbuckle and hitting a Frog Splash to Kash to earn the three count victory!
WINNER - Chavo Guerrero by pinfall
(75/61/89)

After the match, Chavo sarcastically offered a handshake to the fallen Kash, who was still out cold on the mat. Chavo shook Kash's limp hand and then lifted his own in victory as he was met by boos from the crowd.

Only the Beginning
Backstage, Scott Hudson was standing by with the WCW Tag Team Champions, Mark Jindrak and Shawn Stasiak along with Stacy Keibler. Keibler did the talking for her boys, proclaiming them among the elite in the history of the WCW Tag Team Champions. She promised this was only the beginning of a historic run as tag champions for the duo. She said they took care of the Filthy Animals once before and they will have no problem taking care of them once again. Tonight, Jindrak and Stasiak will cement their status in tag team HISTORY!

Andrew Martin vs. The Wall (w/Mike Sanders)
In a match a few weeks in the making, Andrew Martin finally got his opportunity to take on the man who has attacked him a few times...all in the name of Jeff Jarrett's 'memory.' Martin and Wall went two to two in a slugfest in the opening moments of the match. Martin seemed to have the dominant big man rocking and sent him over the top rope to the floor with a clothesline. Mike Sanders helped his monster regroup and sent him back on the attack. Back in the ring, Martin continued on the offensive, but soon The Wall's dominance began to assert himself as he laid out Test with a vicious looking stiff right hand. Wall continued on the attack picking up nearfalls off of a diving legdrop and a devistating backbreaker. Martin fought back...Martin staggered the bigman with a backelbow and then dropped him to the mat with a full nelson slam. Martin made the cover - One, Two, Th...kickout by The Wall. As Martin looked to be in the driver's seat, Mike Sanders climbed onto the apron - succesfully distracting Martin. Martin send Sanders off the apron with a right hand, but when he turned around he was hit by a big boot from The Wall! The Wall then picked Martin up and gave him the Chokeslam! The Wall made the cover and picked up the three count victory.
WINNER - The Wall by pinfall via interference

Goldberg's Terms
Sting made his way down to the ring, walking with a purpose down the ramp. He climbed into the ring and immediately made it known who he was not happy with..."GOLBERG" he called out..."I KNOW YOU'RE BACK THERE!" Sting wanted him to listen to what he had to say...in his interview with Mike Tenay a few weeks ago he talked about just how much he couldn't stand people like Goldberg. Goldberg doesn't care about wrestling..he doesn't care about the business, the guys in the back, the fans in the stand...truth be told, he doesn't even care about Flair and his goonies. All he cares about is how much money he can make by beating people up. Because let's face it, a thug like Goldberg isn't good for much in this world. We've all heard him talk...he's not the brightest bulb in the lamp factory. Maybe he took one too many helmets to the head in the NFL..

Ultimately, it didn't matter to Sting what Goldberg's motives are. He doesn't like it, but he's not going to waste his time worrying about other people's reasons for being...that is until they start crossing over into why HE'S out here in the ring. Well, last week...Goldberg stepped over that line. He's demanding a match with Goldberg...RIGHT HERE - RIGHT NOW!

On cue, Goldberg marched from the back and entered the ring to staredown Sting. Goldberg took the microphone and said he was well aware of all the things Sting had said behind his back in that interview with Tenay. He called Sting out for 'gossiping' - and just running his mouth without really knowing the true story. Goldberg said that he has no problem stepping into the ring against Sting and beating his sorry ass, but it won't be tonight. He said if he's going to wrestle someone the caliber of Sting, he's not going to do it on FREE TV. These fans at home don't deserve to see him at the top of his game for free, and the people in this arena certainly didn't deserve it.

If Sting wanted Goldberg, he would see him at Bash at the Beach!

Goldberg left the ring to boos as Sting just shook his head at Goldberg's words and actions.

Jerry Lynn vs. Shannon Moore (w/Evan Karagias)
Evan Karagias took a seat at the announce both alongside Mike Tenay and Glenn Gilbertti. During the back and forth match between Lynn and Moore - Karagias talked about the opening in 3 Count and how they have already received a HUGE response on the website. Gilbertti said if he hadn't retired, he would be interested in joining. Karagias joked with him and said disco was dead...POP is the new sensation. Meanwhile, in the ring - Lynn and Moore were putting on an impressive back and forth match though the crowd wasn't too interested. It looked like Jerry Lynn was on his way to victory, and even had Moore set up for the Cradle Piledriver, but he saw Karagias rushing from the announce booth into the ring. Lynn dropped Moore and ducked a clothesline from Karagias and took him out with a dropkick. Karagias rolled out of the ring, but Lynn walked right into an enziguri from Moore. Lynn stumbled up from the mat, but Moore dropped him with the Bottoms Up for the three count victory!
WINNER - Shannon Moore by pinfall
(78/65/92)

After the match, Karagias climbed back into the ring and the duo put the boots to Lynn before celebrating the victory together - dancing to their theme music.

Secret Ingrediant?
Backstage in the Gentlemen's Club suite - all the members minus Goldberg were hanging out, enjoying themselves. A waiter brings in some hors d'oeuvres for the group. Flair tipped the waiter a nice crinkly $1 bill before Stasiak demands another bottled water. The waiter answers with a "Yes, sir" before heading out of the room. The camera follows the waiter down the hall where Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman were waiting.

"He wants a water" the waiter. Mysterio nodded and Kidman brought out a bottled water. Rey Mysterio handed the waiter a $100 bill before taking the bottled water and twisting off the cap. Rey poured in some powdery substance into the water before putting the lid back on and shaking it up. He handed it to the waiter, who had no issues walking back to the room with it.

"I guess Flair was right," Mysterio said, "money will get you anything!" Kidman and Rey laughed as they headed back down the hall.

The Canadian Heavyweight Champion
Lance Storm made his way down to the ring to a chorus of boos from the crowd. He climbed into the ring, with the WCW United States Title around his waist, but now branded with the Canadian flag around the center. Storm took the microphone and asked if he could be serious for a minute....

Storm congratulated himself on once again being the Canadian Heavyweight Champion. It was an honor to do what every Canadian dreams of doing, taking something Americans love and making it 100x better by making it Canadian. Like bacon and beer...and judging by this crowd, they REALLY love bacon and beer.

Out came Konnan to a mixed reaction from the crowd - but mostly positive since he was interrupting Storm. Konnan joined Storm in the ring and congratulated Storm on his victory, but said it wouldn't last long. Konnan said since he beat Douglas on Thunder, he's in line for a title shot. He said the red and white do look pretty good, but he said he liked the sound of the 'Mexican Heavyweight Title' A LOT more. Konnan's cheers began to turn to boos after that comment.

Not liking where this conversation was going, Hugh Morrus made his way out to join in the fun. Morrus said with all due respect to both of their home countrys, we're in AMERICA and that's the UNITED STATES championship. And that's the way it should be. Morrus said he's going to do everything within his power to do what he had to do last time Storm disgraced the US belt with those colors...and that's beat Storm.

Finally, the fun wouldn't be complete without an appearance from Shane Douglas. Douglas said all their bickering over nationalities was boring. He doesn't care what country is on the damn belt, he just wants it back. And he said he was screwed out of the title in the first place, and now he gets screwed out of his rightful rematch because for some dumb reason Lance Storm got a title match before him, and he was relegated to fighting for rights to a title shot with Konnan. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!

Shane McMahon appeared on the NitroVision - McMahon said all four of them have their valid points...for now though, Konnan will be receiving his title shot THIS WEEK on Thursday Thunder. However, TONIGHT - since they are all already in the ring anyway...he figured why not have a little tag match to help them vent their frustrations properly.

Lance Storm & Shane Douglas vs. Konnan & Hugh Morrus
Clearly both teams were on very uneasy alliances in the match, but as to be expected, the two heels seemed to be working together as a team better than the uneasy combo of Morrus and Konnan. So while Konnan and Morrus both wanted time in the ring to go after champion Lance Storm, Douglas was content watching from the apron as they took turns taking it to the champion. However, some miscommunication from Konnan and Morrus led to an accidental clothesline from Konnan to Morrus, which allowed Storm to retake control. Storm worked over Morrus and brought Douglas in with the tag. Douglas picked up where Storm left off, and the two took turns on Morrus. However, Morrus began to find a second wind as he avoided a belly-to-belly suplex from Douglas with a pair of earringers to stagger Douglas. A sidewalk slam from Morrus opened the door for him to make the tag to Konnan. Douglas was stumbling to his feet just as Konnan came in and hit the Rolling Thunder clothesline. A facebuster from Konnan to Douglas set him up for the Tequila Sunrise - but Storm entered the ring and put a stop to that right away! Storm and Konnan brawled briefly before Morrus tried to help his 'partner' - but Douglas had recovered and quickly things were breaking apart into chaos. Douglas fought off Morrus and sent him packing over the top rope. However, an attempted superkick from Lance Storm was ducked by Konnan and Storm accidentally laid out Douglas! Konnan hit the Rolling Thunder Clothesline to Storm and then locked the Tequila Sunrise in to Shane Douglas. After a couple seconds, Douglas tapped out!
WINNERS - Konnan & Hugh Morrus by submission

You Messed with the Wrong 'Pisan'
Backstage, Scott Hudson was standing by with Johnny 'The Bull' Stamboli and Kimberly Page to discuss what happened last week both on Nitro and Thunder. First, the attack on Dusty Rhodes after Rhodes had called both of them out on their lack of respect and then Dustin Rhodes subsequent retaliation on behalf of his family name. Stamboli said as an Italian-Ameircan, he knew a thing or two about family-bonds and protecting the family name. But what he doesn't think Rhodes realizes is just what he's getting himself into. Stamboli assured Rhodes that he messed with the wrong 'pisan.' Before this is all over with - Stamboli promised that Rhodes is going to wish he stayed as FAR away from The Bull as possible.

MAIN EVENT - WCW Tag Team Titles Match
Jindrak & Stasiak (c) (w/Stacy Keibler) vs. The Filthy Animals (w/Torrie)

The tag titles got the spotlight tonight by getting the main event spot on Nitro. In return they put on a very well done tag match that - by the end of the match - we would discover just what it was that Mysterio had spiked Stasiak's drink with. As the match began, the former champions took the driver's seat...unloading a fast paced attack to the champions. Stasiak and Jindrak had to regroup together at ringside...but that didn't work out quite the way they planned it as Kidman came off the top turnbuckle with a Shooting Star Splash that took out Stasiak while Rey hit a no hands plancha over the top rope to Jindrak! Kidman and Mysterio recovered first and sent Jindrak back into the ring for Kidman. Despite the fast start for the Animals, a cheapshot from Stasiak soon allowed the Gentlemen's Club members to ground the smaller, quicker team. Stasiak took control over Kidman, stomping away at his fallen body. However, as he continued to unload the offense to Kidman - Stasiak occassionally started to grab his stomach and show some discomfort. But he tried to power through it and continue on the attack...

The occassions began to increase and Stasiak tagged Jindrak in. Together they hit a double back suplex to Kidman before Stasiak left the ring and continued to clutch his stomach on the apron. While Jindrak was picking up where Stasiak left off...Stasiak's condition appeared to be getting worse. Stasiak climbed off the apron and kneeled over the apron as Stacy Keibler checked in to see if he was okay. Jindrak began to grow concerned in the ring, but continued on the offensive, keeping Kidman grounded with some restholds while Keibler was checking on Stasiak. Kidman finally began to fight his way to his feet and hit an enziguri to Jindrak to bring him down. The race was on to make the hot tag, and Kidman got the tag to Rey...but Jindrak found his corner empty and only saw Stasiak rushing up the ramp, running like a madman towards the back. A confused Jindrak walked right into a crucifix DDT from Rey. With no partner, things quickly got out of hand for Jindrak and Kidman and Rey put him away with wheelbarrow facebuster/drop of the dime combo! Rey with the pin - One, Two, Three! The Filthy Animals have regained the WCW Tag Titles!
WINNERS - The Filthy Animals by pinfall
(75/67/84) - WCW Tag Titles have gained in image.

As the camera panned around ringside, an innocent looking Torrie Wilson was seen concealing a box of powdered 'laxative' in her handbag. She gave an innocent smile before grabbing the tag titles and climbing into the ring to hand to Mysterio and Kidman. Kidman and Rey climbed the turnbuckles with their belt, celebrating as Keibler had to regroup with a defeated Jindrak - who was clearly very displeased with the events that had jus occured.

WCW News & Notes

-Last week's Thunder earned a 5.29 rating compared to Smackdown's 5.86.

-WCW Nitro this week drew a 5.81.

-Rumor has it that WCW is looking to revamp it's tag division, as recently it has been just a two team show between The Filthy Animals and the duo from the Gentlemen's Club - Jindrak & Stasiak. Look for some more involvement from less used tag teams like 3 Count and possibly some new teams formed with current members of the roster. This week on Thunder we will see one such team as Bam Bam Bigelow has been paired up with his former Triple Threat partner Chris Candido. Looks like they are going to be going by the name Double Jeopardy. Eventually we should see some new teams coming up from development as well. No word yet on which teams are closest to being ready.

-This week on Thunder: Lance Storm will defend the United States Title against Konnan while The Gentlemen's Club's Curt Hennig will step into the rign with Dustin Rhodes. Also, the WCW Cruiserweight title and $500,000 will be on the line when shane Helms defends the title against a new challenger.

-Want a further sneak peek to next week's Nitro? Next week WCW will be celebrating the 4th of July on July 3 with a special appearance by Lee Greenwood to sing 'God Bless the USA.'

-The following matches have been announced for WCW's Bash at the Beach on July 15, including a match just signed after Nitro for the US Title:

WCW World Title 'I Quit' Match
Booker T (c) vs. Ric Flair

Sting vs. Goldberg

WCW United States Title Match
Lance Storm (c) vs. Konnan vs. Hugh Morrus vs. Shane Douglas

WCW Thursday Thunder
June 28, 2001
Announcers: Scott Hudson & Don Callis

Crowbar vs. Chuck Palumbo
We kick things off right away on Thunder with singles action between Palumbo and Crowbar. Crowbar managed to pull a good match out of Palumbo - making one realize just how good Crowbar actually is in the ring, especially when it comes to selling. Crowbar got in his fair shair of offense against Palumbo, but a sneaky low blow from Palumbo slowed Crowbar down enough for Palumbo to take control. The Jungle Kick would eventually end things for Palumbo, who made the cover and picked up the three count victory.
WINNER - Chuck Palumbo by pinfall
(71/64/79)

After the match, Palumbo apparently was not satisfied with just defeating Crowbar...he kept putting the boots to him until Sean O'Haire ran down and made the save for Crowbar! These two seem to have a strange bond with one another, which Don Callis noted made sense considering their both a little coocoo. Palumbo hit the bricks before O'Haire could get a chance to lay a hand on him. O'Haire kept his eyes on Palumbo as he headed up the ramp.

Let's Just Win
Backstage, Michelle Gold was standing by with the team of Chavo Guerrero and Lash LeRoux. Gold wanted to get comments from Chavo about his recent assault to Kash after their singles match. Lash said he too had questions about that - he wanted to know what was up with Chavo's 'respect' act when he goes out there and does something like that. Lash didn't seem to thrilled with Chavo's actions - but Chavo said Lash needs to wise up and realize this is a tough business and if they both don't start winning soon - they could be out of a job. Nobody likes a loser - nobody is going to pay to see a loser. And if nobody is going to pay to see them...then WCW isn't going to pay THEM. Chavo told Lash he needed to start doing what he has to do to win - and if it mean's a little cheating or cheapshots...so be it. He told Lash that they were going to go out there tonight and do exactly that - win! Chavo walked off leaving Lash alone with Michelle. Lash clearly wasn't buying into Chavo's mentality.

Chavo Guerrero & Lash LeRoux vs. Double Jeopardy (w/Tammy Sytch)
Bigelow and Candido were reunited as the new tag team "Double Jeopardy" against Chavo and Lash. The match started out innocently enough with Candido and LeRoux trading back and forth grapples and holds...however when Bigelow got tagged into the match - the whole aspect of the match changed as he clearly had the size advantage over both Chavo and Lash. Lash was no match for Bigelow, but when Chavo got into the ring, he seemed to be outsmarting Bigelow as he attacked his knees and brought the larger man to the mat. Chavo told Lash to take note as he stomped on Bigelow's fingers as Bigelow was pulling himself off the mat. Chavo let Lash back into the match to see if he could pick up where he left off. Lash went on the offensive, but continued to fight a clean match. Bigelow soon fought his way back and overpowered LeRoux. Bigelow brought back in Candido and the two were working very well as a duo and kept LeRoux from making the hot tag. Chavo grew tired of watching LeRoux get beatdown in the ring...so he went to ringside and returned with a chair. Referee Billy Silverman immediately intercepted Chavo and pulled the chair from him...however when Silverman turned his back and went to remove the chair from the ring, Chavo slipped into his tights and slid on a pair of brass knuckles! Chavo laid out Candido with a punch from the brass knux! However, LeRoux recovered and saw the knuckles and immediately pulled them off. The knuckles, now in LeRoux's hand was what Billy Silverman saw when he turned around to see Candido knocked out and LeRoux with the knux. Silverman called for the bell and awarded the match to Double Jeopardy.
WINNERS - Double Jeopardy by disqualification
(70/60/81)

After the match, Chavo and Lash continued to argue until Bigelow attacked LeRoux from behind. Chavo ducked out of the ring to avoid any altercation as Bigelow lifted LeRoux up and laid him out with the Greetings From Asbury Park! Candido and Bigelow both climbed to opposite turnbuckles...DOUBLE DIVING HEADBUTT to LeRoux! LeRoux was left laid out by Candido and Bigelow as Chavo watched on from the stage.

Tonight's Challenger
Out came Stacy Keibler with the steel briefcase containing the prize money of $500,000 - meaning only one thing - it was time for a Cruiserweight Title match. Keibler climbed into the ring and reminded us again of the bounty and said it was unfortunate that Helms had evaded defeat so often so far - but she felt good about tonight's challenger. He is another former WCW Cruiserweight Champion who has been itching at the opportunity to come back to WCW and reclaim that gold. Tonight's challenger was...

PSICOSIS!

-----

WCW Cruiserweight Title Match
Shane Helms (c) vs. Psicosis

As the match got underway, Hudson commented that this bounty is definitely making Helms one of the best 'fighting' champions in WCW Cruiserweight history. Not unlike most of the matches in this series of 'bounty' matches - the match quality was through the roof while the crowd reaction was just a nonfactor. While Helms always gets a big pop on his entrance with the Vertrebreaker backup dancers - they check out for the match...perhaps Psicosis has been gone too long for the fans to remember him - whatever the case may be, it seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Helms was walking away with the belt here...but while the results were going to be obvious, it doesn't mean the way there can't be fun and these two certainly put on a fun match. Psicosis picked up a few nearfalls against the champion, but an attempt of a flying guillotine legdrop was avoided by Helms which really put a damper on Psicosis' chances. A SUGARSMACK laid out Psicosis and set him up for the Nightmare on Helms Street for the victory!
WINNER - Shane Helms by pinfall
(76/57/96) - WCW Cruiserweight Title has gained in image.

Determining a Contender
Backstage, Michelle Gold was standing by with WCW Extreme Champion Mike Awesome along with Jimmy Hart. Hart built up Awesome an unstoppable monster in WCW and he would just continue to tear people down who got in his way. He said just look at what happened to Tommy Dreamer. Michelle Gold wanted to know what was next for the WCW Extreme Title...Hart announced that they just found out that Shane McMahon has made a fourway Extreme Rules match next week where the winner will receive a title shot against Mike Awesome at Bash at the Beach. The contenders will be Sean O'Haire, Johnny 'The Bull' Stamboli, Terry Funk, and....Hart scoffed, Tommy Dreamer! But Hart assured us that it didn't matter who would win because at Bash at the Beach, it would be Awesome reigning supreme.

The First Finalist!
The sounds of "Can't Get You out of My Heart" played, bringing out 3 Count's Evan Karagias and Shannon Moore along with their headsets and dancemats. They brought out a third one because tonight we are going to be meeting the first finalist for the third spot in 3 Count! Evan Karagias introduced him as a long time 3 Count fan who has been in his own band for 10 years! They introduced the first finalist's name as Cassidy O'Reilly.

O'Reilly made his way down to the ring to little reaction from the crowd. He entered the ring and shook Karagias and Moore's hand. He was handed his own headset and he thanked them for the opportunity, he was really 'pysched.' Karagias wanted to see what he had. O'Reilly nodded and as the music began to play...O'Reilly began belting out "SHOT THROUGH THE HEART....AND YOU'RE TO BLAME....

YOU GIVE LOVEE...

A BAD NAME!"

O'Reilly looked to Moore and Karagias for approval - but they seemed less than thrilled. They said 80's rock wasn't cool anymore...they need some more 'bubblegum' flavor to it. O'Reilly seemed confused, but Karagias said it was okay - they can certainly work with him on that. But for now, they want to see what he can do in the ring...so part two of the tryout began next...

-----

Cassidy O'Reilly vs. Jerry Lynn
After losing to Shannon Moore on Nitro, Lynn was looking to save face by defeating the auditioning Cassidy O'Reilly. In terms of match quality, O'Reilly had a good showing - hanging in tough with the veteran Jerry Lynn - but he never really seemed to be in control of the match. Karagias and Moore didn't try to lend a helping hand to O'Reilly, instead they just wanted and made notes about their 'finalist.' Lynn would eventually finish O'Reilly off with the Cradle Piledriver for the three count.
WINNER - Jerry Lynn by pinfall
(72/56/88)

After the match, Karagias and Moore entered the ring and attacked Lynn from behind! Lynn tried to fight back, but the numbers were too much - especially when O'Reilly joined in. Karagias instructed O'Reilly to show us his signature move, so O'Reilly picked up Lynn and hit him with a Fisherman DDT! Karagias and Moore nodded in approval...but the festivies were interrupted when Tommy Dreamer rushed the ring to the aid of his friend. Dreamer was armed with a singapore cane. O'Reilly seemed ready to fight as he instructed his mentors to have his back as Dreamer slid into the ring, except when he turned around - Karagias and Moore had left the ring! Dreamer cracked O'Reilly across the head with the cane and then picked up him up - DREAMERDRIVER!

Tommy Dreamer helped Lynn to his feet as Karagias and Moore left their first 'finalist' lying in the ring.

-----

Curt Hennig vs. Dustin Rhodes
In a match that saw the crowd as lively as it has been all night, Hennig and Rhodes battled in a hard fought back and forth - basically brawl. It was a slugfest from the opening bell, which seemed to give Rhodes the upperhand. Rhodes had Hennig reeling early, but a thumb to the eye quickly slowed Rhodes down. Hennig took control for a good portion of the match, trying to wear Rhodes down with more mat based wrestling and a few restholds thrown in there as well. However, the crowd was solidly behind Rhodes and he fought his way back from a sleeperhold from Hennig. Rhodes broke free of the sleeper with a jawbreaker before laying out Hennig with a running bulldog. Rhodes looked to be in control until Kimberly Page made her way down to the ring. She immediately caught Rhodes' attention - but Rhodes kept focusing on Hennig. That is until Kimberly got on the apron and distracted referee Charles Robinson. Robinson warned Kim to get down, but she responded by giving Robinson a big kiss. While this was going on, Johnny Stamboli was undetected as he came from the crowd and slid into the ring, his arm already laced with his chain. Rhodes turned around and was laid out with a lariat from the chained arm! Stamboli rolled out of the ring as Robinson collected his thoughts from the big kiss. Hennig crawled over and made the cover - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - Curt Hennig by pinfall via interference
(79/80/78)

After the match, Kimberly and Stamboli regrouped at the stage and embraced as Rhodes was struggling to his feet. The two celebrated their accomplishment with a kiss before returning to the back.

Who is The Prophet
Another video for this mysterious 'Prophet' was aired - once again all we can make out is a cloaked figure. The voice said that the WCW has been looking for a 'prophet' for a long time - someone to save itself from the degredation; from the afflication; from the opression - someone to lift it up to a new salvation. Someone to free the lost sheep of WCW and give them a new life. Soon - the Prophet would arrive in WCW to save it from itself.

MAIN EVENT - WCW United States Title Match
Lance Storm (c) vs. Konnan

In the main event, Storm and Konnan met and put on a good show to close out Thunder. While the fans weren't really sure if they wanted to cheer for Konnan or not - they eventually gave in and chose to cheer for him over Lance Storm. Konnan started the match out on fire - taking it to the champion and picking up a couple nearfalls off of a wheelbarrow suplex and a one handed bulldog. Lance Storm began to fight back when Konnan went for a German Suplex. Storm hit a pair of back elbows and a go-behind on Konnan to hit a back suplex to Konnan. Storm found himself in control and began working of Konnan's knee to set him up for an eventual Canadian Maple Leaf. Storm eventaully went for his signature submission, but Konnan defended the hold before Storm could turn it over by kicking himself free of Storm. Konnan made a comeback, hitting a Rolling Thunder lariat to Storm. Konnan began to display some submissions of his own as he locked Storm in the Ziplock - but Storm was not giving up just yet. Konnan voluntarily released the hold in favor of doing some more damage to Storm. Konnan hit the facebuster to Storm and went for the cover - One, Two, Thre....Storm just barely kicked out!

Konnan argued with referee Scott Armstrong, but went back on the attack only to have Storm headbutt Konnan in the breadbasket. Konna was doubled over and Storm executed a backbreaker that left both men struggling. Konnan rolled to the outside to try and catch his breath. Storm responded with a no-handed suicide dive over the top rope that took both men down! Scott Armstrong began to count both men out as they struggled to their feet. Storm started to crawl back into the ring, but Konnan grabbed him by the tights to prevent him! The count was at five as Konnan tossed Storm into the ringsteps! Konnan started to pull Storm back to his feet, but Storm prevented Konnan from rolling him back into the ring by grabbing the ring apron. Konnan was trying to get Storm back into the ring before the ten count as he did not want to win by countout since he would not get the title. Storm's efforts to block Konnan from sending back into the ring worked as Armstrong reached ten and called for the bell!
WINNER - Draw via double countout
(79/76/82) - The United States Title has gained in image.

A frustrated Konnan put the boots to Storm at ringside until Shane Douglas came down to the ring and attacked Konnan from behind. These two began to brawl around ringside as Storm started to pull himself up only to have Hugh Morrus join in the chaos. It was an all out brawl between all four men around ringside as Thunder came to a close.

WCW Tuesday Nitro
July 3, 2001
Announcers: Mike Tenay & Glenn Gilbertti

It's July 3rd, the eve of the day of our Independence - and tonight WCW would be celebrating Indepedence Day a day early with a special concert by Lee Greenwood! But that was later - what better way to kick off action than with a Cruiserweight Title defense!

WCW Cruiserweight Title Match
Shane Helms (c) vs. Chris Candido (w/Bam Bam Bigelow & Tammy Sytch)

Stacy Keibler once again brought down the steel briefcase and sat at ringside as Chris Candido became the next challenger to attempt to cash in the bounty and take the WCW Cruiserweight Title. Like every match so far in this series, these two pulled out the stops and provided an entertaining match. While Helms was looking great early, the prescense of Bigelow and Sytch at ringside quickly became a distraction for Helms that allowed Candido to take control. Candido's offense was more technical and ground based than Helms' high-flying style - which allowed him to ground the champion and work him over on the mat. After taking down Helms with a delayed vertical suplex, Candido did take to the air - going for his diving headbutt - but Helms rolled out of the way! Helms took advantage and would ride the momentum to a very close nearfall off the Sugarsmack. A frantic Tammy Sytch grabbed the referee's attention as Bigelow took the steel briefcase and tossed it in to Candido. Candido picked it up, but before he could use it - Helms caught him with the Shining Wizard! Helms picked up the briefcase as Bigelow climbed onto the apron...Helms connected with the briefcase to Bigelow! Bigelow fell off the apron and Helms tossed the case to ringside before hitting Candido with the Nightmare On Helms Street. The referee returned to position to make the three count.
WINNER - Shane Helms by pinfall
(82/68/96)

-----

Backstage with the Gentlemen's Club
In the personal suite of the Gentlemen's Club - Flair and the gang were all there - and he was letting them all have it after what happened last week - specifically Jindrak and Stasiak losing the WCW Tag Titles to the Filthy Animals. Stasiak brought up that Flair lost his belt too...but that just made Flair even more angry. Flair said tonight they needed to turn things around...tonight, he was sending Hennig out to face Sting in a singles match. He said unlike Stasiak and Jindrak, he had all the faith in the world that Hennig would actually take care of business in the ring.

Lash LeRoux vs. The Wall (w/Mike Sanders)
As the match got underway, we were reminded of Lash LeRoux's former partner Chavo Guerrero who has tried to convince Lash that 'cheating' is the mantra to go with if he wants to win. LeRoux has clearly expressed his disagreement with Chavo's new attitude - and has instead chosen to stick with his cleancut, play-by-the-rules approach - which unfortunately when it comes to taking on The Wall, wasn't going to work. While LeRoux tried to target The Wall's legs early to chop the big man down - The Wall was having none of that strategy and quickly asserted himself as the dominant one. The Wall dominated LeRoux and finished him off with the Chokeslam for the victory.
WINNER - The Wall by pinfall
(68/63/74)

After the match, Mike Sanders was still heavily hyping up his monster's win when Andrew Martin walked out onto the stage with the microphone. He said that The Wall and Sanders had attacked him behind his back whenever they had the opportunity to...well, this week on Thunder - things were about to change. Martin said that the match had been signed for Thunder - The Wall one on one against Andrew Martin. And IF, no wait he corrected himself - WHEN he won, he would get a subsequent match against Mike Sanders...Andrew Martin was looking forward to taking them both out to the woodshed.

Proud to be a....Canadian?
The time had come for the promised 'Lee Greenwood' concert which would be him singing his patriotic hit 'God Bless the USA' for the thousands in attendance in celebration of July 4th. The crowd chanted "USA" when he came out and he began performing the song....but as he got to the chorus, the music cut out and out came WCW 'Canadian Heavyweight' Champion - Lance Storm.

Storm climbed into the ring and dismissed Greenwood from the ring, and began addressing the crowd - thanking them for saving them from having to listen to such horrible music. Storm bashed Greenwood's patriotic attire and patriotic song and said that these people didn't come here to listen to some washed up musician sing a song that's only relevent once a year. They came to A - See Lance Storm wrestle and B - See Lance Storm win.

But if they want a concert - Storm contends that he is a man of many talents, and singing just happened to be one of them. So, he would grace us with his own patriotic tale - God Bless Canada.

Storm stalled, clearing his throat and warming up to sing. He, of course, sung the following verse in one monotone voice.

"And I'm proud to be a Canadian,
And not an American you see,
And I won't forget the ones who came (images of Bret Hart appeared on NitroVision),
and paved this way for me,
And I'll gladly stand up here and defend this title today,
'Cause there is no champion better than meeeeeeee... (Canadian flag image waving on Nitrovision while the crowd boos)

GOD BLESS....CAN...A....DA....."

"CAN YOU DIG IT...SUCKAAA?"

WCW Champion Booker T mercifully put an end to Storm's attempt of an encore, coming down to the ring as Storm stared a hole through the champion as he walked down and climbed into the ring.

Booker T took the patriotic route, defending the country and all the American fans in attendance tonight - and basically ran down what freedom meant to him. Booker T explained that it was the freedom in this country that gave him the second chance at life to even be here and be champion today. The two went back and forth over patriotism until finally Booker T wanted the chance to whoop Lance Storm's ass TONIGHT in celebration of July 4th. Storm accepted - and the match was made for later tonight!

Sting vs. Curt Hennig
While Sting will get to go one-on-one with Goldberg at Bash at the Beach, tonight he got his hands on another member of the Gentlemen's Club in Curt Hennig. Hennig seemed to be on a mission to wear down Sting - as after Sting started out on fire against Hennig, Hennig began to work over Sting slowly, eventually getting him to the mat and began to work over his upper back and neck in one could only assume an attempt to soften him up for the HennigPlex. However when Hennig sent Sting into the corner - he tried to go toe-to-toe with Sting in a bottle of chops - which Sting quickly took control over. Sting fought his way out of the corner and then hit a pair of atomic drops to Hennig before dropping him to the mat with a clothesline. Hennig rolled to ringside to try and collect himself - but Sting slingshot himself over the ropes into a crossbody to Hennig at ringside! The battle at ringside was only momentary before Hennig rolled Sting back into the ring. Hennig used this as the opportunity to attack Sting as he climbed back into the ring. Hennig retook control, but when he went for the HennigPlex, Sting fought his way free. Sting sent Hennig into the corner - STINGER SPLASH! Sting whipped Hennig into the opposite corner...ANOTHER STINGER SPLASH! Hennig fell to the mat - SCORPION DEATHLOCK! Referee Charles Robinson checked in on Hennig...just as Goldberg slid into the ring. Goldberg broke up the hold with a superkick to Sting's head! Robinson immediately called for the bell.
WINNER - Sting by disqualification by interference
(84/87/80)

Goldberg and Hennig put the boots to Sting before they whipped him into the ropes - SPEAR by Goldberg! Goldberg picked Sting up and laid him out with the Jackhammer. Goldberg rested one foot over Sting's chest as the crowd booed the Gentlemen's Club duo loudly. Goldberg and Hennig ignored them as they returned to the back, leaving Sting struggling in the ring.

-----

Idle Threats

Backstage, Scott Hudson was standing by with Dustin Rhodes to talk about Johnny Stamboli and his recent comments about Rhodes 'messing with' the wrong guy. Rhodes has been in this business a LOT longer than Stamboli, and if he thinks his idle threats are going to scare him off - he couldn't be more wrong. In fact, he just left Shane McMahon's office where he got a match signed for Bash at the Beach! Stamboli and Rhodes would be going one-on-one at the Bash, and Rhodes was looking forward to showing Stamboli that he doesn't have to make threats - he lets his fists do the talking in the ring.

Breakin' Necks & Cashin' Checks

Chuck Palumbo walked down to the ring, accompanied by Brian Adams and Bryan Clarke - KroniK. Palumbo entered the ring and took the microphone - informing us that he was suppose to find a tag partner to take on the team of Sean O'Haire and Crowbar tonight. But he decided to do something even better, he found two people willing to do his job for him so he doesn't even have to! He reminded us that KroniK works for money and he paid them tonight to take on O'Haire and Crowbar for him. So there's your explination for the next match, I guess...

(65%)

-----

Kronik (w/Chuck Palumbo) vs. Sean O'Haire & Crowbar
The ecentric duo of O'Haire and Crowbar were reunited for their first tag match since BattleBowl where they worked together surprisingly well. They once again manage to both stay in synch together - as somehow the combo of two unstable minds must be enough to cancel each other out. However, it was clear it was going to be hard for them to match up against the huge size of KroniK. O'Haire matched up with them fairly well, but once Crowbar was in the ring - Adams and Clarke were able to isolate him and keep O'Haire from getting back into the ring. However, the demented mind that Crowbar has, just kept getting back up and asking for more punishment. Crowbar eventually was able to throw caution to the wind as he avoided a clothesline from Adams, leaped to the top turnbuckle and jumped off with a twisting moonsault bodypress to Adams to take him to the mat! Crowbar made the hot tag to O'Haire, who came in like a house of fire - taking out Clarke and Adams both with belly-to-belly suplexes and belly-to-back suplexes. Adams rolled out of the ring and O'Haire picked up Crowbar into a Military Press and tossed his own partner out into a plancha to Adams! Both men were down and it left O'Haire alone in the ring with Clarke. Clarke walked into O'Haire who picked him up and laid him out with a Rolling Fireman's Carry Slam. O'Haire then climbed to the top turnbuckle and hit the Seanton Bomb to Clarke and picked up the three count victory!
WINNER - Sean O'Haire & Crowbar by pinfall
(66/54/78)

O'Haire and Crowbar celebrated their victory in the ring while Palumbo was very upset at ringside about forking over that cash to KroniK when they couldn't follow through. After O'Haire and Crowbar left the ring, Palumbo entered the ring and got in Clarke and Adams' face - demanding a refund. Instead, they grabbed Palumbo by the throat and delivered the HIGH TIMES! KroniK left the ring to a face reaction from the crowd.

Champions Once More
Backstage, Scott Hudson had caught up with Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman along with Torrie Wilson - who were still elated about winning back the WCW Tag Titles. They admitted they hadn't stopped partying since last Tuesday night. Hudson informed the Animals that he had just heard another rematch has been signed for Bash at The Beach and it will be a Tornado Tag Match this time. Mysterio said that it only made sense for their to be another rematch - it's the rubber match - each team has won once so there has to be a third and deciding match up. He has no problem with that concept and will have no problem beating those punks once more to prove they are the greatest tag team in WCW!

MAIN EVENT - Non-Title Match
Booker T vs. Lance Storm

It was champion vs. champion but no title was on the line here - instead it was just USA vs. Canada as Booker T fought for the American pride on the eve of July 4th. But just because it was freedom in the good ole' US of A's birthday did not mean Storm was going to just let Booker T win. Far from it in fact, Storm had something to prove as well. Not just for his country but for himself - he wanted to prove that he could hang with the WCW World Champion, and who knows - if he was able to pull off the victory he could certainly argue that he himself deserved a title shot. Storm clearly had that in mind as he showed no mercy against the champion - working him over - driving Booker T to the mat and viciously targeting his knee - the same knee, bear in mind, that had been damaged at Great American Bash. This only added to the intrigue of the match up - as Storm really seemed to have the champion in a bad way. Storm was looking as impressive as ever as he took Booker T by the leg and rolled him over into the Canadian Maple Leaf! But Booker T refused to tap out and not give the fans something to go home happy about...with the fans on their feet supporting him, Booker made it to the ropes to break the hold.

The hold was broken, but Storm went back on the attack. Storm continued on the offensive until he climbed onto the apron and went for a springboard clothesline, only to have Booker T meet him with a sidekick from his good leg! Storm his the mat and Booker T dropped to a knee and struggled to get to his feet. Booker T shook off the pain in his leg and went to work on Storm, getting his first real offense of the match. Booker T wailed away on Storm in the corner before carrying him out of the corner and laying him out with the 110th Street Slam! Booker made the cover but only got a two count. The two continued back and forth until Storm went for a superkick, but Booker ducked and Storm accidentally laid out referee Mark Armstrong! Booker fought back against Storm and laid him out with the Scissors Kick! With no referee to count however, Booker had to continue on the attack.

Until Ric Flair rushed the ring! Flair entered the ring with the WCW Title and laid out Booker T with a shot from the belt! Flair rolled back out of the ring as Storm crawled over and made the cover...still no referee as Flair headed to the back. Out of nowhere, Lee Greenwood climbed into the ring with his guitar! Storm noticed him and shoved Greenwood, snatching the guitar from him. As Storm was threatening Greenwood, Booker came back to his feet with a spinaroonie to a pop from the crowd! Storm turned around and swung the guitar at Booker, but Booker ducked! Booker gave Storm a kick to the midsection to cause Storm to drop the guitar and then connected with the BOOK END! Greenwood took his guitar and left the ring as Booker made the cover. Mark Armstrong crawled over to make the count - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - Booker T by pinfall
(84/85/82)

Booker T celebrated his victory and then sent Storm packing from the ring. Booker T then took the microphone and invited Lee Greenwood back into the ring to give the fans what they want to hear. Greenwood took the microphone and closed the show out with "God Bless the USA."

WCW Thursday Thunder
July 5, 2001
Announcers: Scott Hudson & Don Callis

Hudson & Callis welcomed us to the show and hoped we all had a great holiday and were ready for some more WCW action. Tonight - one half of the tag team champions, Rey Mysterio, had the unenviable task of going one-on-one against The Gentlemen's Club one-man wrecking crew - GOLDBERG. Also tonight, we would find a number one contender to Mike Awesome's WCW Extreme Championship.

But first...we get some cruiserweight action!

Psicosis vs. Kash
The crowd wasn't sure who to pull for in the match, and while these two put on a hell of a back and forth, high speed/high impact match - the crowd didn't really care too much for either man. Both men picked up several nearfalls off of several cradle and roll up varietys, but neither man seemed to have a clear advantage. However, Kash did start to show some momentum and got a very close nearfall off of a double jump moonsault. He went for the Money Maker, but Psicosis backdropped out. After a tiltawhirl backbreaker, Psicosis went for a standing senton, but Kash rolled out of the way. As Kash looked to be on his way to victory, Juventud Guerrera ran down to the ring. Juvi distracted Kash long enough for Psicosis to score with a roll up and pick up the three count victory!
WINNER - Psicosis by pinfall via interference
(81/62/100)

After the match, Juvi entered the ring and celebrated with Psicosis, who seemed a little confused about the entire scenario.

-----

A Plot In the Making
Backstage after the commercial break, Juvi and Psicosis were caught on camera. Juvi was explaining why he helped Psicosis - and it all has to do with Shane Helms and the WCW Cruiserweight Title. Juvi explained both men want to win the title and get the $500,000 bounty. Well, he realized that they would have a better shot if they worked together! Juvi said that on Nitro...they could take on Shane Helms in a triple threat match..and they would split the bounty 50/50 when one of them won. Psicosis nodded in agreement, accepting Juvi's offer in hopes of winning the title and the money.

The Wall (w/Mike Sanders) vs. Andrew Martin
The stipulation behind this match was that if Martin beat The Wall, he would basically get his hands on Mike Sanders - which is what he really wanted. Unfortunately for him, getting past The Wall was going to be no easy task. As you might imagine, this one was basically a slugest brawl as neither man is really known for his technical skills. A lot of punching back and forth with The Wall really show casing his strength as he lifted Martin up into a chokelift. He held Martin for the full five seconds before dropping him to the mat. Wall looked impressive against Martin, having control of the majority of the match. However, a bearhug by The Wall was broken free by Martin with some clubbing blows to the side of the Wall's head. Martin found his second wind and began firing back with some more rights and lefts that had the Wall staggering. A big clothesline from Martin finally took the Wall down to his feet where Martin continued on the attack. Martin looked to have things going his way as he sent Wall into the ropes and dropped him with the Big Boot...but Mike Sanders entered the ring with a chair and smacked Martin across the back! Martin dropped to the mat and Sanders continued to deliver chair shots to Martin as referee Billy Silverman called for the bell.
WINNER - Andrew Martin by disqualification via interference
(69/65/74)

The Wall got to his feet and pulled Martin up - CHOKESLAM!

The Wall left the ring - and since Martin did 'win' - it was time for his time alone in the ring with Mike Sanders....

Mike Sanders (w/The Wall) vs. Andrew Martin
Mike Sanders wasted no time trying to add insult to injury as he crouched over Martin and delivered repeated fists to Martin's forehead. Sanders picked Martin back up and delivered the 3.0 to the already beaten Martin and pinned him for the easy 3 count.
WINNER - Mike Sanders by pinfall
(70/71/69)

The crowd greeted Sanders and Wall to boos as Sanders celebrated his victory as if he just won the WCW title. He leaped into The Wall's arms and threw his hands in the air as the show went to a break.

The Prophet Is Coming
Another video for the mysterious 'Prophet' aired - he talked about the corruption within WCW and how he was not coming just save WCW but also the fans. The voice talked about how the fans are just as lost as the wrestlers. They need someone to look to for guidance - someone to tell them what is right and what is wrong. Someone to save them from their own sin. That someone is 'The Prophet' - don't worry, your savior is coming. The video ended with a mysterious "S" across the screen..

Extreme Rules Match
Tommy Dreamer vs. Terry Funk vs. Johnny 'The Bull' Stamboli (w/Kimberly) vs. Sean O'Haire

Extreme Rules applied here - so it was an all out brawl with every man for himself from the beginning. Stamboli paired off to start the match against Funk while Dreamer and O'Haire took it too each other. The match itself was your typical hardcore slugfest with chairs and normal ringisde material becoming weapons. With four men involvined in the match all at once, it was a bit chaotic and no one man took control for too long before another would break it up. Funk especially seemed to be taking a brunt of the offense, but didn't mind getting right back up for some more punishment. Things began to get a little overbooked towards the end when Sean O'Haire dropped Funk with the Rolling Fireman's Carry Slam, only to turn into a Jungle Kick from an interfering Chuck Palumbo! Palumbo left the ring as Stamboli tried to take advantage. Stamboli made the pin - One, Two, Thre....Dustin Rhodes pulled Stamboli out of the ring! Stamboli and Rhodes began to brawl up the ramp and soon disappeared backstage as Kimberly gave chase...meanwhile, back in the ring - it came down to Dreamer and Funk who both were armed with chairs. They took turns cracking each other across the skull with a chair..both men would stagger or stumble but came back with another chair shot until Funk dropped his chair after one shot from Dreamer. Dreamer lifted Funk onto his shoulders for the DreamerDriver, but Funk escaped down Dreamer's back. Dreamer was spun around into a kick to the midsection and Funk finished Dreamer off with the Piledriver! Funk made the cover - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - Terry Funk by pinfall
(71/72/72)

Terry Funk celebrated his victory and the opportunity to face Mike Awesome at Bash at the Beach for the Extreme Title. After the match, Dreamer recovered and showed his respect to the legendary Funk with a handshake.

-----

The Plot Unfolds!
Backstage, Michelle Gold was standing by with WCW Cruiserweight Champion - Shane Helms. Helms talked about how The Gentlemen's Club keep sending obstacles his way but he keeps sailing right over the obstacles. Eventually he was sure Flair would have to give up and realize there was no getting this belt away from him. Gold asked Helms about a triple threat match with Juvi and Psicosis on Nitro - and Helms just called it one more obstacle that he planned to jump.

But Juvi and Psicosis had other plans - in what obviously had to be an attempt to weaken him for Nitro, the Mexican duo attacked Helms from behind as he was giving his interview! Helms dropped to the ground and the challenging duo worked together to stomp a mudhole into Helms until WCW officials broke it up! Juvi and Psicosis seemed satisfied with their work as they headed away from the scene of the crime.

German Flavor
A video of the search for the new member of 3-Count is shown as Evan Karagias and Shannon Moore are looking over audition footage of different contenders. They mention Cassidy O'Reilly - but seemed less than thrilled about his rock-vibe he gave during his audition - and the fact that he didn't win his match against Jerry Lynn. Moore pulled one resume out of a folder and asked, 'What about him? He seems like the perfect fit." Karagias agreed and asked Moore to make the call to get him in for a live audition.

Just as they were about to wrap up their video, Alex Wright wandered into the shot. Wright wanted to know if he could get an audition.

Karagias and Moore glanced at each other as if to say "you have to be kidding me, right?" - But they humor him and ask him why he would be a good addition to the group.

Wright said he is the total package of singing and dancing. He broke out his typical dance moves, only to have Karagias stop him. Karagias admitted that sure, maybe he does have the moves...but he didn't recall Wright ever being the singing type.

Alex Wright seemed offended, but said Karagias HAD to be kidding. Wright said he was a megastar in Germany. He claimed to be the number 2 selling artist in Germany, behind only David Hasselhoff.

Karagias and Moore shook their heads and laughed before walking away from the shot and Wright. Wright pleaded, "Wut about ze audition?! Guyz? Hey...Wait for me!" Wright chased after the duo.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Lash LeRoux
Scott Hudson reminded us of the recent tension between these two former tag partners as Chavo tried to bring Lash over into his method of thinking - the cheat to win philosophy. It all led up to this singles match between the duo to see just which method would win out in the end. Chavo wanted to start the match out with a handshake with his former partner, which Lash reluctantly agreed to. Things were pretty innocent for most of the match as the duo went back and forth - clearly their time together as teammates had made them accustom to each other's offense. LeRoux began to take control in the later stages of the match, but could not put Chavo away for a three count. He lifted Chavo up for the Whiplash, but Chavo countered - sliding down Lash's back and cradling him while grabbing the tights for a near three count. Lash kicked out and ran into a dropkick from Chavo. Chavo reached into his tights and pulled out a pair of brass knuckles, but before he could use them - referee Charles Robinson stepped in and snatched the knuckles from Chavo! Robinson walked away, and Chavo reached into his tights again, pulling out a roll of quarters! But when he went to punch Lash with them, Lash blocked the punch and pulled the quarters away. Lash rocked Chavo with a left hand before turning around and tossing the quarters out of the ring...only to get a low blow from Chavo! Robinson returned his attention to the match with the knux properly disposed of as Chavo hit the brainbuster to LeRoux. Chavo climbed to the top turnbuckle and finished LeRoux off with the Frog Splash for the three count victory!
WINNER - Chavo Guerrero by pinfall
(72/63/82)

After the match, Chavo reached down and shook LeRoux's unconscious hand before leaving him lying in the ring.

MAIN EVENT
Goldberg vs. Rey Mysterio (w/Torrie Wilson)

Hudson speculated as to whether or not this was The Gentlemen's Club's way of trying to weaken Mysterio before the Tag Titles match at Bash at the Beach - but in any event, this was a huge mismatch for Rey Mysterio and Goldberg knew it. Goldberg toyed with Mysterio early, allowing Mysterio to bounce around the ring and try to get some offense in against Goldberg - but the machine that is Goldberg no-sold every bit of the offense. Eventually Goldberg must have become annoyed, much like you might become annoyed of a gnat buzzing around you, and nearly decapitated Rey with a big clothesline. Goldberg went on the attack, pulling Rey up and repeatedly driving his knee into Rey's midsection before sending him into the corner and working Rey over with right and left jabs. Rey stumbled out of the corner into a front powerslam from Goldberg. Goldberg knew he was in complete control of the match and began to stall between offensive manuevers - taking his time and letting Rey expend his own energy trying to get up. The crowd let Goldberg have it as he continued to toy with the smaller wrestler.

Goldberg at no point during this dominance even attempt a pinfall, he clearly just wanted to dish out some more punishment before ending the match. However, with the crowd solidly behind Rey, Rey suddenly found some energy stored in the tank and caught Goldberg out of nowhere with a headscissor takedown that actually took the powerhouse to the mat! Rey, looking to capitalize, bounced off the ropes and hit a front dropkick right to Goldberg's face as he was trying to get back to his feet. Suddenly, Rey had found the drive and actually had Goldberg on his heels...after a tiltawhirl DDT - Rey went for the cover. One, Two, Goldberg powered out - literally tossing Rey off of him. Goldberg charged in for the SPEAR, but Rey countered with a drop toe hold that sent Goldberg throat first aross the ropes! Rey bounced off the ropes and hit a tiger feint kick to the head. Goldberg stumbled backwards and Rey springboarded in for the West Coast Pop - but Goldberg caught Rey and drove him to the mat with a POWERBOMB! With Rey laid out, Goldberg walked to the opposite side of the ring and assumed the position for the spear. Rey very slowly got to his feet...Goldberg charged in and hit the SPEAR! Goldberg grabbed Rey by the mask and pulled him to his feet, lifting him up and finishing him off with the Jackhammer - this one was academic - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - Goldberg by pinfall
(82/86/75)

The show came to a close with Goldberg standing tall over Rey Mysterio's body while Scott Hudson hyped up Goldberg's match with Sting at Bash at Beach - assuring us that Sting will be more of an even match for Goldberg.

WCW Tuesday Nitro
July 10, 2001
Announcers: Mike Tenay & Glenn Gilbertti

Welcome to WCW Tuesday Nitro! We are under one week from Bash at the Beach where Booker T will defend the WCW World Title one last time against Ric Flair in an I QUIT match! We'll also get to see Goldberg take on Sting and much more!

Q-U-I-T

To open the show, Ric Flair led the Gentlemen's Club down to the ring in full force including the lovely Stacy Keibler. Once in the ring, Flair took the microphone and began doing the talking for the group - focusing his attention towards Booker T but also bringing up Sting and the Filthy Animals. Flair claimed that at Bash at the Beach - the Gentlemen's Club would reclaim what was rightfully theirs and what never should've left them - the WCW Title and the Tag Team Titles.

Flair then began to talk specifically about the 'I Quit' Match against Booker T - promising to beat Booker T within an inch of his life. Flair that normally he doesn't like to get blood on his hands because it's just too messy and will stain a nice suit - but at Bash at the Beach he promised to spill Booker's blood all over the ring - staining that nice canvas the ring crew spent hours setting up with his blood. Flair said that Booker will be not just QUITTING, but BEGGING Flair to stop...BEGGING Flair to TAKE the title from him to put him out of his misery.

Out came the champion, Booker T. He stood at the top of the ramp with a microphone and fired back against Flair. Booker gauranteed the only blood that would be spilt at Bash at the Beach would be Flair's and the people would REJOICE to see Flair's blood hitting the mat. Booker T said it would be Flair who would be going I-Q-U-I-T. Booker said that the word wasn't even his vocubulary - so there was no way he would be saying it at the PPV.

Flair said if Booker was so confident, why wait until Bash at the Beach. He could come down and step into the ring right now and show them what he's made of. Booker T started to walk down the aisle but stopped about halfway. He said he's not dumb - he knows what happens if he stepped into the ring by himself with all of the Gentlemen's Club in the ring with Flair. But that's okay, he has some back up.

The Filthy Animals walked from the back and stood alongside Booker T. The trio started to head to the ring still outnumbered 5 on 3, but still confident. However, before they could enter the ring - Shane McMahon walked out and put a stop to it.

He said that he wasn't going to have an unruly brawl to start tonight's Nitro. Instead he was opting for controlled chaos. That's why he's going to make tonight's main event - Booker T will team up with WCW Tag Champions The Filthy Animals to take on Ric Flair, Shawn Stasiak, and Mark Jindrak!

Flair and company seemed disappointed they didn't get to give the 5-on-3 beatdown to the champions, but Booker T, Rey Mysterio, and Billy Kidman were more than happy to come back later in an even-sided match.

WCW Cruiserweight Title Match
Shane Helms (c) vs. Psicosis vs. Juventud Guerrera

Stacy Keibler remainded at ringside after the opening segment, and watched as the trio in the ring put on another outstanding match to start the show. This would definitely be Helms' toughest challenge to date as both men wanted to get the title and the bounty, and both men were set on a plan that involved them working together against the champion. The plan was working well for Juvi and Psicosis as Helms attempt to fight both men off worked at first but the numbers quickly became too much for the champ. Ultimately, however it appeared as though the plan wasn't as well thought out as they hoped because neither man could agree on who should make the pin to actually win the title. After some pin attempts broke up by both men - Juvi and Psicosis began to argue...Juvi seemed to be suggesting he would win the title now and then give a title shot to Psicosis. As they argued, Helms recovered and hit a dropkick to Psicosis, sending him colliding into Juvi! Juvi fell out of the ring and Helms found his second wind against Psicosis. After a Shining Wizards to Psicosis, Helms went for the pin but only got a two count when Juvi entered the ring with a springboard legdrop to break it up. Juvi tried to stay on the attack, but Helms fought back...Helms went for the Nightmare on Helms Street - but Psicosis was there for the save. Psicosis came off the ropes for a crossbody, but Helms ducked and Psicosis connected with Juvi and both men fell over the top rope to the floor! As both men helped each other to their feet...Helms climbed to the top turnbuckle and jumped out with a moonsault to the outside to take out both men! Helms slowly pulled himself up and rolled Psicosis back into the ring. Helms went in for the kill, executing the VERTEBREAKER to get the pinfall on Psicosis for the win!
WINNER - Shane Helms by pinfall
(81/73/90)

After the match, Psicosis and Juvi regrouped and headed up the ramp, arguing over who caused who to lose. Meanwhile, Shane Helms took the microphone as Stacy Keibler climbed into the ring.

Helms said that enough was enough. He had defeated EVERYONE Stacy Keibler has managed to find to try and take the belt from him, including these two guys TWICE...and it's just NOT happening. It's time to throw in the towel. Keibler responded saying the bounty would stand until someone took the title from him.

Helms said that at Bash at the Beach, he would put his title on the line against whoever Keibler manages to find next to challenge him...but if he wins, he will take the briefcase HIMSELF and be $500,000 richer! Helms surprised Keibler with a smooch and said he would see her this Sunday!

-----

Goldberg vs. Norman Smiley
Apparently this was a 'warm up' match for Goldberg as he prepared to face Sting at Bash at the Beach. Yeah...not much of a warm up. Goldberg actually speared Smiley right away when Norman was doing the Big Wiggle for the delight of the crowd. Goldberg pulled Smiley back to the middle of the ring - JACHAMMER. That's all she wrote.
WINNER - Goldberg by pinfall
(73/81/57)

As Goldberg celebrated amidst the loud boos of the crowd - the boos suddenly turned to loud cheers as Sting walked out from the back.

Sting was armed with a microphone and he sarcastically applauded Goldberg for his victory tonight. Sting said he knew it was a 'tough' match for Goldberg, so he should be proud of how he handled the great Norman Smiley. Sting continued to pour on the sarcasm, stating that he hoped he could last half as long as Smiley did against the great Goldberg. Sting climbed into the ring to join Goldberg and continued to press the issue. Sting said all kidding aside, he couldn't wait to get Goldberg in the ring - he promised he would last more than a couple minutes.

Goldberg gave a knowing smile and retorted - asking Sting if he was so sure about that. Sting may have a tendancy to forget the past, but Goldberg has the memory of an elephant. Goldberg brought up Nitro - September 1998...Goldberg defeated Sting to retain the WCW Title. Then there's Slamboree in May of '99 where Goldberg WOULD HAVE beaten Sting again, but Bret Hart had to ruin the match and it was ruled a no contest. Then there was the infamous Halloween Havoc of 1999 where Sting won the title because Hogan LAID DOWN for him, which is the ONLY way Sting can win a title anymore by the way - only to have Goldberg crush Sting in less than five minutes to win the title. Oh and then the next night on Nitro, Goldberg DESTROYED Sting in 3 minutes again.

So judging by his count - that's 3 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw against Sting. The record doesn't bode well for the Stinger. Sting said he knew the history - but that's not going to stop him from keeping on getting back up on that horse and trying again. He said after Bash at the Beach, that 0 would be a 1. Sting suggested how about they face off RIGHT NOW so Sting can get a head start at evening up their series...that way he could make it 3-2 at Bash at the Beach!

Goldberg scoffed off the idea and once again refused to wrestle Sting for a "free" audience. Goldberg said he would see Sting Sunday where the record would stand at FOUR wins. Because Sting...YOu'RE NEXT!

Lance Storm's Challenge

The 'Canadian Heavyweight' Champion Lance Storm made his way down to the back to boos from the crowd. He climbed into the ring and had us 'All Rise' for the playing of the Canadian National anthem. The anthem played as the crowd booed loudly, showing no respect for the anthem. Once over, Storm continued - explaining that at Bash at the Beach he would have the unenviable task of defending his 'Canadian Heavyweight' Title against three NON-Canadians! He certainly couldn't let any one of them disgrace the championship he was working so hard to restore value to.

Tonight he wanted the opportunity to get a closer look at his three opponents - that's why right now we're going to witness a challenge to his challengers. Each man will face a one-on-one opponent to help them prepare for Sunday while this also helps Storm get in some studying of his opponents. Storm walked out to the announce booth and joined Tenay and Gilbertti as the 'challenge' got underway.

Hugh Morrus vs. The Wall (w/Mike Sanders)
Storm commented on Morrus being the typical overweight, lazy American. Morrus and Wall put on a surprisingly good match as their styles meshed well together. They brawled back and forth, with The Wall starting to take control halfway through the match. The Wall worked Morrus over in the corner with knee lifts to Morrus' midsection before he really showed off his strength with a military press slam to Morrus. Wall attempted the pin - but Morrus kicked out at two. Wall hooked Morrus for the Chokeslam, but Morrus fought it off! Morrus began to rock Wall with right hand after right hand before displaying his own strength by bodyslamming the big man! Morrus looked to be riding the wave to victory, but as he climbed up to the top turnbuckle to go for the No Laughing Matter, but Lance Storm stood up from the announce booth and got Morrus' attention. The distraction proved to be enough as The Wall approached Morrus from behind, grabbed him by the throat and CHOKSLAMMED him off the top rope! The wall made the cover - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - The Wall by pinfall
(72/64/80)

-----

Shane Douglas vs. Andrew Martin
As Hugh Morrus reluctantly headed to the back, frustrated with his loss - Shane Douglas was making his way out to make a statement himself. Storm said that off the three challengers, he said Shane Douglas was his biggest threat. Meanwhile, Andrew Martin was coming off a loss on Thunder to Mike Sanders after being attacked by Sanders and The Wall. Martin was looking to bounce back against Douglas - but Douglas was dead set on having a good showing before the PPV. The match itself was very slow and a drop in quality to Wall/Morrus...which is still shocking that that was a half decent match. Anywho - Martin was fending for himself well until Douglas snuck in a rake to his eyes to slow him down. A side belly-to-belly suplex from Douglas earned him a very close two count. Douglas mounted Martin and began plowing away with viscious punches to Martins' head beforee referee Nick Patrick pulled him off. Douglas did not ease up on Martin, continuing on the offensive. Martin began to battle back and was looking good until he went for the Big Boot, only to have Douglas duck it...when Martin turned around - Douglas hit him out of almost nowhere with the Franchiser! Douglas made the cover - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - Shane Douglas by pinfall
(69/71/66)

-----

Konnan vs. Johnny 'The Bull' Stamboli (w/Kimberly Page)
Storm commented that the only thing worse than a lazy American was a lazy Mexican....anyway, Konnan was the last up in this 'challenge' as he looked to get a strong showing heading into the PVP as well, especially after Douglas won. The match was nothing to write home about, but was at least better than the Douglas/Martin match. Konnan was looking strong against Stamboli until Kimberly provided the distraction to help Stamboli back into the match. After a swinging neckbreaker, Stamboli went for the pin but only picked up a two count. Stamboli continued on the attack, but Konnan fought his way back into the match and laid out Stamboli with the Rolling Thunder Lariat. Konnan was looking to get the win as he hit the K-Factor to Stamboli. Konnan was signaling for the Tequila Sunrise when Shane Douglas returned to ringside and climbed onto the apron. Konnan and Douglas argued...but soon Hugh Morrus arrived as well and pulled Douglas off the apron! Douglas and Morrus brawled, catching the attention of Nick Patrick. With the referee distracted by the brawl, Lance Storm slid into the ring. Konnan turned around into a superkick from Storm! Storm rolled out of the ring as Stamboli crawled over and made the cover...Patrick turned around to see the cover being made - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - Johnny Stamboli by interference
(72/73/71)

Stamboli high-tailed it out of the ring with Kimberly as Douglas and Morrus brought their fight into the ring. Storm climbed into the ring and attacked Morrus from behind - helping Douglas do a number on him, sending Morrus to the mat. Konnan recovered and as Douglas and Storm turned around - Konnan took them both out with a double clothesline! Storm and Douglas both rolled out of the ring and went their seperate ways as Konnan stood tall in the ring as Morrus struggled to recover.

MAIN EVENT
Booker T & The Filthy Animals (w/Torrie Wilson) vs. Ric Flair, Jindrak & Stasiak (w/Stacy Keibler)

The main event was your standard PPV tease 6 man tag. The faces started the match off strong, trying to take a firm control of the match as Booker T, Mysterio, and Kidman worked well together to keep Jindrak in the ring by himself. However, like in most tag matches, it was only a matter of time before the heels were able to cut off the ring. Rey played the face in peril here after some distraction from Keibler. Flair, Jindrak, and Stasiak made quick tags - none of them staying in the ring for an extended period of time - staying fresh over the worn out Mysterio. The Gentlemen's Club was unable to take advantage of this as they could not put Rey away...he would either kick out or Kidman would make the save for his partner. Flair would eventually lift Rey up into a kneebuster, dropping Rey to the mat and locking in the Figure Four! Rey was clearly in some intense pain, but before he could give in - Booker T broke the submission up!

As referee Mark Armstrong sent Booker T back to his corner - Stasiak and Jindrak entered the ring and double teamed Rey while the ref's back was turned. They left as the ref returned and Flair took back control. Flair brought back in Stasiak who picked up where Flair left off and locked Rey in a surfboard. Rey still was not quitting and the crowd began to clap and stomp to try and bring Rey back into the match. Rey fought his way to his feet and was sent into the ropes. Off the ropes he took Stasiak to the mat with a head scissors takedown. The door was open and the race was on to make the hot tag! Rey made it just as Stasiak tagged in Jindrak. Jindrak was laid out by Booker T, followed by Stasiak and then Flair himself was taken out by Booker. Booker T then laid out Jindrak with the 110th Street Slam while Stasiak received the Harlem Sidekick! Flair rolled out to ringside and began calling for the troops as Goldberg and Curt Hennig rushed to the ring as Booker T was about to hit the Book End to Jindrak. Booker T tossed Jindrak down and met Hennig and Goldberg head on...Rey and Kidman joined in but the numbers became too much for the faces as Mark Armstrong threw the match out.
WINNERS - Booker T & The Filthy Animals by disqualification via interference
(78/76/81)

With the numbers advantage, The Gentlemen's Club quickly had all three faces down on the mat. Jindrak and Stasiak took care of Kidman and Mysterio, sending them out of the ring leaving Booker alone in the ring. Goldberg hit the SPEAR to Booker T before Hennig and Flair put the boots to Booker's fallen body. Flair took the microphone as Jindrak and Stasiak each grabbed on to an arm of Booker T to hold him up.

"SAY I QUIT!" Flair demanded as he hit Booker T across the forehead with the microphone.

Booker T did no such thing and Flair kept wailing away at Booker T's forehead.

Flair once again demanded that Booker T say those two words, but Booker T responded by spitting in Flair's face which drew a pop from the crowd!

An irate Flair left the ring and returned with a chair, preparing to deliver a homerun chairshot to the prone Booker T...but STING walked down from the back armed with his trusty baseball bat! Flair saw Sting coming and left the ring with Hennig as Sting slid into the ring. Jindrak was the first to get a shot to the midsection from the bat and Stasiak was next. Sting cleared the ring of Jindrak and Stasiak with the bat, leaving him alone in the ring with Goldberg as Flair and Hennig retreated up the ramp.

In the middle of the ring, Goldberg and Sting went nose to nose in a staredown as Nitro came to a close! Tenay ended the show by promoting Booker T and Flair as well as Goldberg and Sting at Bash at the Beach!

WCW Thursday Thunder
July 12, 2001

Welcome to WCW Thunder - We are three days away from the biggest event of the Summer - BASH AT THE BEACH! One of the most anticipated matches of the PPV has to be Sting vs. Goldberg - well tonight, no matter how much Goldberg wanted to avoid Sting going into the PPV and not wrestle Sting for a 'free audience' - Shane McMahon has booked a tag match for tonight's main event which will feature Goldberg and Hennig of the Gentlemen's Club taking on Sting and a partner of his choice. But the question remains - who will be Sting's partner??

Juventud Guerrera & Psicosis vs. Jason Jett & Kash
Fresh off their loss in a triple threat match for Shane Helms' WCW Cruiserweight Title - Juvi and Psicosis continue their bond - now setting their sights on the tag team division. They match off against a thrown together cruiserweight tag team of Jason Jett and Kash. But the fact that they're randomly put together doesn't take away from the fact that they had amazing chemistry together as well as the team of Juvi and Psicosis. They open the match off with a GREAT fast-paced cruiserweight tag match. Remember when WCW had Cruiserweight Tag Titles? ...Me neither, carry on. Jett and Kash got in just enough offense to make it a competitive match, but in the end Juvi and Psicosis experience were too much for the youngsters and Juvi finished off Jett with the JuviDriver followed by the JUICY ELBOW. Juvi made the cover while Psicosis cut off Kash from making the save. One, Two, Three!
WINNERS - Juvi & Psicosis by pinfall
(72/61/100)

Flair Premature Celebration
Backstage, Michelle Gold was standing by with the challenger for the WCW Title at Bash at the Beach - Ric Flair. Flair compliment Gold on her looks before going into a rant about how he would be stylin' and profilin' his way to the WCW Championship once again. He said this type of match, the 'I Quit' Match, are right up his alley. He's been wrestling brutal matches like this since before Booker T was able to tie up his own boots, which Flair sidenotes might not be saying much since Booker T just learned a year ago! Bazinga! Flair invited Michelle Gold to the afterparty Sunday to celebrate the Naitch's title win with a ride on Space Mountain! Michelle did not seem interested...

Lash LeRoux vs. "Primetime" Elix Skipper
Hudson and Callis remind us of the struggle between former partners Chavo Guerrero and Lash LeRoux, and how last week Chavo's cheating methodology seemed to reign supreme in a victory over Lash LeRoux and his cleancut wrestling persona. LeRoux returns this week for singles action against another former Cruiserweight Champion in Elix Skipper. Skipper seems to be struggling since his departure from Lance Storm's Team Canada. Tonight was not much different. Skipper looked good briefly, displaying amazing athleticism - but LeRoux forced him to the mat and overpowered Skipper. LeRoux would take control and finish Skipper off with the Whiplash to pick up a much need victory.
WINNER - Lash LeRoux by pinfall
(63/58/82)

After the match, LeRoux did not get much time to celebrate his victory because his former tag partner, Chavo Guerrero rushed down to the ring and attacked LeRoux from behind! Caught off-guard, LeRoux was unable to defend himself as Chavo took him to the mat and stomped a mudhole in him. Chavo then pulled LeRoux up off the mat and delivered a hanging brainbuster to LeRoux before climbing to the top turnbuckle and hitting the Frog Splash to LeRoux.

Chavo took the microphone and stood over LeRoux. Chavo said for years he's been nothing but a joke to WCW. He rode around on a freakin' toy horse named Pepe and then had to team with a bunch of 'misfits' as Lt. Loco. He's tired of always being considered a joke...and as long as he was still associated with one of those misfits - he was always going to be a joke. His Uncle is the one who taught him that if you have to cheat to win, you gotta do what you gotta do. For so many years, his uncle tried to convince him that but he wouldn't listen. But now Chavo has devoted himself to that teaching. He will do what it takes to not just win but to be taken seriously in WCW.

And this is only the beginning - by the end of the night, we would all know JUST how serious he was...

Mike Awesome & Johnny Stamboli (w/Jimmy Hart & Kimberly Page) vs. Terry Funk & Dustin Rhodes
In another classic PPV-tease match, Awesome teamed with Stamboli to take on their respective opponents for Bash at the Beach - Terry Funk and Dustin Rhodes. This was not under the Extreme rules of the Extreme Championship, so there would be no use of tables or chairs for Awesome and Funk, but that didn't stop them from going at each other with extreme velocity. Funk was showing Stamboli and Awesome both that he may be old, but he can still kick some ass. But after a distraction from Jimmy Hart at ringside, Awesome was able to overpower Funk. Funk became the face in peril as Awesome and Stamboli took turns working him over. Awesome would get a nearfall off of a giant powerslam to Funk - but Dustin Rhodes would make the save. Stamboli and Rhodes ended up brawling at ringside, which made it difficult for Funk to make the hot tag. With Stamboli and Rhodes getting out of control at ringside, referee Charles Robinson left the ring to try and break those two up. This allowed Jimmy Hart to slide in a chair to Mike Awesome. But when Awesome swung the chair, Funk ducked and took out Awesome's knees with a dropkick. Funk then picked up the chair and cracked it across Awesome's skull before delivering the Piledriver to Awesome! Funk made the cover as Robinson gave up on Rhodes and Stamboli. Robinson amde the count - One, Two, Three!
WINNERS - Terry Funk & Dustin Rhodes by pinfall

After the match, Dustin Rhodes rolled back into the ring to celebrate his team's victory with Terry Funk. They raised each other's arms as Johnny Stamboli regrouped at ringside with Kimberly, and watched with disgust as the faces celebrated while a fuming Mike Awesome stormed up the ramp with Jimmy Hart in tow.

The Next Audition

"Without U" hit the PA System and out came Evan Karagias and Shannon Moore as the search for the new band member continued. In the ring, Karagias announced that tonight someone new would be auditioning for the prestigious final spot in 3 Count. They are very excited about tonight's recruit...he was about to introduce him when...

Alex Wright danced his way down to the ring to his own music. The crowd seemed to enjoy Wright's antics as he climbed into the ring and danced. He thanked Karagias and Moore for the chance to audition. Karagias had to be the bearer of bad news, telling Wright that he was NOT the one auditioning tonight. Wright's excited face immediately turned to disappointment. and the crowd booed the lack of a Wright audition.

"But my dance movez!" Alex protested, once again doing his trade mark dance. Karagias simply shook his head 'no.' Wright didn't seem satisfied, so Moore pulled Karagias away and the two had a private discussion before Karagias turned back around and put his hand on Wright's shoulder. He told Wright that he WOULD get an audition...but it would not be tonight. Wright shook Karagias' hand and danced his way back to the locker room.

Now, for the REAL wrestler trying out tonight - Karagias introduced him as Joey Matthews!

Joey Matthews came down to the ring to little fanfare - but was definitely dressed for the part and definitely had the boy band look. Karagias and Moore both were impressed with what they saw. Karagias said that Matthews definitely had the look, but in the ring it was going to be a tough audition because the man they were facing was none other than TOMMY DREAMER!

-----

Tommy Dreamer vs. Joey Matthews
Matthews definitely had a tough task in his WCW debut match - facing off against Tommy Dreamer was not going to be easy. Callis had to wonder if those "boyish good looks" would be in trouble in a match against Dreamer. Dreamer didn't cut the kid any slack either, taking it straight to Matthews from the opening bell - giving him next to no opportunity for offense. However, when Dreamer went for a DDT - Moore jumped onto the apron. Dreamer knocked Moore down, but Matthews used that opportunity to finally get in some offense against Dreamer. Matthews scored a Double Underhook DDT but only managed to get a two count on Dreamer. Matthews got to his feet and kept stomping away at Dreamer as Karagias and Moore cheered him on. He set Dreamer up on the top turnbuckle and looked to be setting Dreamer up for a Frankensteiner, but Dreamer fought back and hit a front superplex to Matthews. Matthews was slow to his feet but walked right into Dreamre who lifted him up - DREAMERDRIVER! Dreamer hooked the leg - One, Two, Three!
WINNER - Tommy Dreamer by pinfall
(59/65/68)

After the match - Evan Karagias and Shannon Moore attacked Dreamer from behind and helped Matthews to his feet. But before they could do too much damage on a 3-on-1 - Jerry Lynn ran down to the ring to make the save. Karagias and Moore hit the deck, leaving Matthews to the wolves as Lynn quickly took Matthews down and sent him packing from the ring.

After the break, it would be announced that at Bash at the Beach - 3 Count would take on Tommy Dreamer and Jerry Lynn!

You Got Yourself a Partner, Partner
Backstage in the locker room, Sting was lacing up his boots preparing for his match tonight when WCW Cruiserweight Champion Shane Helms walked into the locker room. Helms said if Sting was still looking for a partner tonight, he was up for it. He said he would love to actually get in the ring with the Gentlemen's Club after all Flair has been putting him through the past month. Sting said it would be an honor to accept Helms' offer. The duo shook hands and it looked like Sting had himself a partner for tonight's Main Event!

-----

Chuck Palumbo vs. Sean O'Haire
It was former partner against former partner once again as O'Haire got another shot at getting his hands on Palumbo. Palumbo started the match off trying to avoid O'Haire, but it would only be effective but for so long before O'Haire got his hands on him and began taking control of the match. Palumbo used a low blow to fight his way back into the match, unbeknown to the referee. Palumbo locked in a reverse boston crab to O'Haire to try and make him submit, but O'Haire made it to the ropes to break the hold - but Palumbo held it on as long as possible without the DQ. Palumbo continued on the offensive, excecuting a diving shoulder block to O'Haire that picked up another nearfall. O'Haire rallied and decked Palumbo with a roundhouse kick before laying him out again with a back suplex side slam. O'Haire took firm control of his former partner, laying him out with a Fireman's Carry DDT before taking to the top rope and hitting the Seanton Bomb to pick up the three count!
WINNER - Sean O'Haire by pinfall
(60/67/77)

-----

Cashing in the Bounty
Backstage, Shane Helms finished preparing himself for the Main Event as he left to go team with Sting to take on the Gentlemen's Club...however as he left the lockerroom - Chavo Guerrero attacked Helms from behind with a chair! Helms hit the ground and Chavo drove a couple more chair shots down to Helms' back. He then picked Helms up and delivered a DDT right onto the floor to the Cruiserweight Champion.

Security and WCW Officials rushed in to put a stop to the attack - but the damage had clearly been done.

Chavo smirked as they checked on Helms. Chavo then announced that he was going to take the open spot at Bash at the Beach to challenge for Shane Helms' WCW Cruiserweight Title.

MAIN EVENT
Sting vs. Goldberg & Curt Hennig

Suddenly, Sting found himself without a partner once again and was going it along against Goldberg and Hennig - which seemed like a huge mountain to climb - but Sting was up for the challenge. He started out strong against Hennig when it was just a one-on-one confrontation - but as soon as Goldberg got involved - Sting found himself on the receiving end of a beatdown from both members of the Gentlemen's Club. With his match against Sting right around the corner, Goldberg made sure that he and Hennig got in plenty of offense to try and weaken Sting for their encounter - so there were few pinfalls and just a lot of punishment being dished out. Hennig wore down Sting with some restholds to keep the Stinger from making a comeback despite the crowd's persistant efforts to get him back into the match.

Their efforts finally paid off as Sting started to give his version of the 'hulk up' as he powered his way to his feet out of a chinlock from Hennig. Sting dropped Hennig with a back suplex. Goldberg entered the ring and Sting met him with some right hands that rocked Goldberg, and a discus punch that sent Goldberg to the mat! Sting went back on the attack to Hennig, whipping him into the turnbuckles! Goldberg was back to his feet and Sting whipped him into the same turnbuckle, sandwiching Hennig! Sting ran in for a Stinger Splash to both, but Goldberg moved and Hennig was the only one to receive the splash. Sting ran out of the corner with a bulldog to Hennig, but when he got to his feet, he was on the receiving end of a superkick from Goldberg! Sting hit the mat and Goldberg got in his stance in the corner, waiting for Sting to get to his feet. Once Sting was up, Goldberg charged in with the SPEAR to Sting! Goldberg pulled Sting up by his hair as the boos flowed in. Lift up...JACKHAMMER - One, Two, Three!
WINNERS - Goldberg & Curt Hennig by pinfall
(70/82/65)

Scott Hudson and Don Callis called this a huge advantage for Goldberg going into Bash at the Beach against Sting. Hudson and Callis ran down the card one last time as Goldberg and Hennig celebrated over the fallen Sting. Tune in this Sunday for BASH AT THE BEACH!
