Jason Lee Update 08/06/2024 Grab Some Bench: Lee Retires 27 in a Row: It was a "one-in-a-million shot". Only happens "once in a blue moon". Or maybe only when "Hell freezes over". But for Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Jason Lee, today's game was very, very special. The 32-year-old hurler joined baseball's most elite fraternity by tossing a perfect game against the San Diego Padres. In the 4-0 Arizona win Lee had 10 strikeouts, retiring all 27 hitters he faced. He told the press, "I think it was in the eighth inning that it dawned on me that not only was I pitching a no-hitter, but no one has gotten on base either. I had a perfect game going. But you know, I felt as strong as I did in the first inning. I went right after them with all I had... and I got me a perfect game." His batterymate told BNN reporters, "He worked the corners real well and made San Diego go fishin' a lot. His breaking stuff really gave them fits. Lee didn't give them very many good looks and nothing in the middle of the plate. He was in command the whole ballgame." So far this year Lee has a 11-5 record with a 2.02 ERA. |

Chris Ticon Career Update 08/18/2024 Ticon Rips HR Number 600: The crowd roared -- they knew they were seeing history -- and Chris Ticon was delighted, too: The 32-year-old Royals third baseman was making history with his 600th career homer. The crowd buzzed and roared again when Ticon stuck his head out of the dugout for a curtain call. "Never, as a kid, did I ever think I'd hit even one," he told BNN after hitting No. 600 in a 10-6 victory over Boston. Ticon went 4-7 in the game, had 4 runs batted in, and scored 3 runs. In his career Ticon is batting .309 with a total of 601 home runs. |
