Donovan Daniels Off-Season 01/31/2009 Retiring Daniels May Enter Political Arena: Astros left fielder Donovan Daniels announced today that he is retiring from baseball. What he does next is still anyone's guess. The popular Daniels has been rumored to be considering a run for political office, namely mayor. "He hasn't told me what his plans are," said Houston manager Mike Milchin. "I know he has an interest in politics, but he hasn't tipped his hand yet, either way." Asked whether he thought Daniels was qualified to hold public office, "Milchin replied, "Definitely. I think he'd be a great mayor. He has exactly the kind of leadership skills this city needs." Associates say Daniels will make a decision on his future in the next few weeks. 02/11/2029 Daniels Announces Run for Mayor: Former Houston left fielder Donovan Daniels announced today that he intends to run for mayor. The recently-retired Daniels has been rumored for some time to be contemplating a run for political office. The announcement means the popular ex-player will face an uphill battle next year as he attempts to unseat an equally popular incumbent. "It's not easy making the transition from professional athlete to politician," said Daniels this afternoon on the steps of City Hall in front of an enthusiastic crowd of supporters. "But I intend to work every bit as hard I did on the playing field to serve the citizens of this city." Edited by JIMMMMMY, Sep 18 2011, 08:01 PM.

Nick Brummers Off-Season 02/11/2029 Atlanta, Veteran SS Brummer Talking Contract?: One of the league's most prominent players, Nick Brummer, is reportedly seeking a contract with the Braves, sending fans of the organization into orbit. Management tried to put a lid on the rumors earlier in the day, preferring to keep any developments to itself. However, industry insiders confirmed to BNN that a deal is being negotiated, and that an offer of $4,480,000 is on the table should Brummer want to take the Braves up on it. 02/13/2029 Shortstop Nick Brummer Lands in Minnesota: When Nick Brummer arrived in Minnesota today to greet the media of his new home, nobody questioned the move despite his 38 years. Brummer signed a $4,480,000-a-year deal that will run for 1 year. He is generally seen as a veteran presence in the clubhouse and could act as a mentor for many of the younger Twins players. A check of his lifetime stats shows Brummer has played in 2551 games with a .309 batting average. Among his 3151 hits are 237 home runs. He also has scored 1564 runs and driven in 1446 runs. 03/18/2029 Minnesota, Veteran Brummer Sign Deal: Fans hailed the signing of Nick Brummer today as the Minnesota Twins shortstop came to terms with the club. Set to make $5,500,000 over the upcoming 1 year, Brummer signed primarily out of loyalty to the organization, thrilling the most diehard supporters who think there isn't much loyalty in a market driven by free agency. Brummer is hitting .309 lifetime with 3151 hits, 782 doubles, 77 triples, 237 home runs and 1446 RBIs to date. He has scored 1564 runs, walked 948 times and has a .376 OBP. |

Chris Ticon Career Update 05/17/2029 Baltimore's Ticon Hammers #800: 800 home runs is a lot of home runs to hit. It's a number that very few players reach. Today Chris Ticon became a member of that exclusive club. He belted it at Oriole Park at Camden Yards against the Indians. But sometimes milestone homers don't win the game. The powerful Baltimore third baseman got all the headlines, but Cleveland came away with the victory. They beat the Orioles 6-3. During the postgame interview he told the press, "It's a big relief to get it over. I tried not to think about it, but it's kind of hard when you have a huge sign on the scoreboard staring at you every time you step up to the plate. The home run was nice, but I would have preferred to win the game." His batting totals for the game showed 1 hit in 3 at-bats, 1 home run and 2 RBI. The hardworking and dedicated Ticon also said, "I'll celebrate a little with my family tonight but not too much. This is not the last home run I will hit. I think I have a lot baseball left in me and have other goals. I'll get back to work tomorrow." Ticon's career batting average is .312. In 2680 games, he has gotten 3269 hits, 800 home runs, 2226 RBIs and scored 2022 runs. |

Justin Ramses Career Update 06/05/2029 Ramses Defeats Pirates For #300: His goal at twenty was to win twenty games one year, pitch until he was thirty, win the league pennant and to make some money. Well, Justin Ramses did something even better -- the 38-year-old Washington Nationals star has now won 300 games in his career. That put him in a very select group of pitchers. He joined that exclusive club today at Nationals Park by whipping the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-1, holding them to 6 hits in 7 innings while chalking up 7 strikeouts and 2 walks. In the postgame interview, the modest Ramses said, "It's special to win 300 games. You don't do it by yourself. You do it with good stuff and a good bullpen. You are only as good as the guys behind you. Years from now I might look back on it and give myself a little pat on the back." In his career the 38-year-old Ramses has accumulated a 300-157 won-lost mark and opposing clubs have hit .235 against him. Edited by JIMMMMMY, Sep 19 2011, 09:55 PM.

Johnny Dubb Career Update 06/10/2029 Dubb Booms 400th Homer: Chicago's outstanding second baseman Johnny Dubb joined the 400 home run club today at Minute Maid Park with a booming blast in the Cubs win over the Astros. They topped Houston 5-4. On his milestone day Dubb had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Tongue-in-cheek he told the press, "Don't tell me when I get close to the next milestone. Just tell me after I reach it. It will be easier to hit that way." During his career Dubb has compiled a .293 batting average and collected 2967 hits, 400 home runs and 1594 RBIs. 07/08/2029 Dubb Gets Number 3000: Johnny Dubb of the Chicago Cubs earned his membership in the exclusive 3000-hit club this afternoon at Wrigley Field. The 38-year-old second baseman got his milestone hit in the Cubs 8-7 triumph over the Detroit Tigers. Dubb went 3-7 for the game.
