WCW Monday Nitro April 29, 1996 Announcers: Tony Shiavone & Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan -We open with a highlight video from last week's Nitro that showed Randy Savage and Bret Hart joining forces to take on The Four Horsemen - but we see in the main event they come up short thanks to interference from the Horsemen. -Tony Shiavone & The Brain welcomed us to the show - hyping up the continuing King of the Ring tournament as we have three more preliminary matches tonight that will feature The Horsemen's Chris Benoit as well as former NFL player Steve 'Mongo' McMichael, Dean Malenko, and Marty Jannetty! Non-Title Match: The Steiner Brothers vs. Public Enemy: Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge came down to the ring carrying their trademark table as they went into battle with the tag team champs in this non-title match. A win here would be huge for Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge - but Rick and Scott were focused despite not having to worry about losing their belts here. The two teams went back and forth, with Rick Steiner eventually being isolated by Public Enemy. Grunge and Rock were unable to put Rick away, and he eventually battled back and took out both members with a double clothesline! Rick made the hot tag to Scott, who came in on fire - taking out both Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge as the crowd gave Scott their full support. However, before the Steiners could put away Public Enemy - Harlem Heat came from the back! They slid into the ring and assaulted Scott Steiner from behind, drawing the disqualification! (76/71/82) -Rick Steiner attempted to help his brother out - but Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge joined in the attack, helping out Harlem Heat! It became a 4-on-2 scenario as the two heel teams joined forces. The crowd booed as Booker T left the ring and slid Public Enemy's table into the ring, encouraging them to use it! Grunge and Rock high fived as they set up the table. Booker T rolled Scott Steiner onto the table while Stevie Ray held Rick Steiner down to make him watch as Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge performed the Drive-By through the table onto Scott Steiner! Stevie Ray threw Rick Steiner to the mat and the four heels left the tag champs laid out in the ring. -Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was standing by with WCW World Heavyweight Champion 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair along with Woman. Flair let out a few trademark WOO's before going into a tirade about how Randy Savage has to already be regretting the decision to stand up against The Four Horsemen. Flair revealed that Randy Savage has approached the WCW Board of Directors hoping for a title shot against Ric Flair. Flair smiled and said that Nitro's representative for the board has agreed to let Flair decide the terms in which Savage EARNS a title shot. Flair revealed that he had indeed made a 'deal with the devil' - because 'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan has agreed to let him use the Three Faces of Fear against Randy Savage! So...tonight, if Savage can defeat BOTH The Giant AND Mabel in a handicap match, he will earn a shot at the WCW World Title at King of the Ring! But Flair said that Savage would be lucky to leave the ring alive tonight. WOO! (89%) King of the Ring Preliminary Match: 'Das Wunderkind' Alex Wright vs. Steve 'Mongo' McMichael (w/Debra McMichael & Clarence Mason): Mongo and his entourage came down to the ring with Clarence Mason armed with a steel briefcase. Shiavone brought us up to date on their apparent 'lawsuit' against Ahmed Johnson, who last week who a spot in the King of the Ring quarterfinals. Tonight, Mongo was up against the young German sensation - Alex Wright. Wright had a spurt of offense early that kept him in the match, but eventually McMichaels took a firm control. After a three point stance into a shoulder tackle - Mongo put Alex Wright away with the Mongo Spike piledriver for the victory and advanced to the KOTR Quarterfinals. (65/69/64) -Backstage, 'The Professor' Mike Tenay was with another Four Horsemen member - 'Double J' Jeff Jarrett who wanted to speak his mind about the King of the Ring tournament. Jarrett said that he would be in action next week, but that he was Hell bent on proving himself worthy of the Four Horsemen spot he's been given. Nothing would do that better justice the bringing royalty into the Horsemen and becoming King of the Ring. With himself and Benoit both in the running - the odds were in their favor. But in the end, he had a feeling we would all be greeting him as KING DOUBLE J when all was said and done. (82%) -'The Belfast Bruiser' Fit Finlay vs. The Barbarian: Two heavy hitting power houses squared off as Finlay looked to continue his recent success after defeating Lord Steven Regal last week to advance to the quarter finals of the KOTR. Finlay tried his best to bring out a good match from The Barbarian - but it just ended up being a slow brawl that eventually saw Finlay put The Barbarian away with the Celtic Driver for the clean victory. (62/58/67) -The Belfast Bruiser did not have much time to celebrate, because Earl Robert Eaton and Squire David Taylor jumped Finlay from behind! Finlay attempted to fight back against the duo, getting in a few punches before Lord Steven Regal joined them in the ring! Regal hit a low blow to Finlay that allowed Eaton and Taylor to get the upperhand. They each grabbed one of Finlay's arms and made him bow down to Regal. Regal demanded Finlay to kiss his foot, but Finlay spat at Regal! Regal slapped Finlay and then gave him a stiff boot to the head! Eaton and Taylor let Finlay hit the mat and Regal gave a couple more cheap stomps to Finlay before the Blue Bloods left the ring with Finlay struggling to get to his feet. -In the back, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was with Arn Anderson and Chris Benoit along with Woman. Anderson did most of the talking here, directing his attention to the man who turned the consideration of the Horsemen when they were seeking a new member. Anderson let Malenko have it, calling him a damn fool for his decision and when it's all said and done - Malenko will be left with nothing. Anderson promised Malenko that the Horsemen had friends in high places - and Malenko will never find success in WCW. And tonight, Benoit is about to square off with Malenko in the preliminary round of the King of the Ring tournament...any dreams Malenko had of winning that tournament are about to come crashing down around him. (86%) -King of the Ring Preliminary Match: Dean Malenko vs. Chris Benoit (w/Woman): Benoit and Malenko have plenty of experience in the ring together from pre-WCW days - and they always put on a good show in the ring, especially when given plenty of time. They were given time here, as the match had to be interrupted with a commercial break. The technically skilled duo went back and forth - neither man getting a lengthy advantage during the first segment of the match. As we headed into the commercial break, Benoit had started to take control as he locked Malenko in a body scissors. After the berak - Benoit was still in command - now working over Malenko in the corner with some stiff chops. But Malenko began to battle back as the crowd rallied behind the Cruiserweight Champion. Malenko battled back and sent Benoit into the ropes, catching him with a tiltawhirl backbreaker! Malenko locked Benoit in a STF...but Benoit refused to submit and would make it to the ropes! Malenko picked up a few nearfalls over Benoit with a fireman's carry gutbuster and a sitout double underhook powerbomb - but Benoit kicked out each time. Woman would eventually provide a distraction that allowed Benoit to sneak behind Malenko and hit a German Suplex! Benoit bridged for a two count. Benoit continued on the attack, picking up a few more nearfalls before heading up top for his Swandive Headbutt...but Malenko rolled out of the way! Malenko took advantage, taking control and eventually locking Benoit in the Texas Cloverleaf! Benoit struggled through the pain and began trying to reach the ropes...but Malenko walked back to the center of the ring and sat back down! Benoit looked to be in trouble as Woman climbed onto the apron and distracted the referee! Benoit was tapping! But the ref's back was turned! Malenko noticed Woman on the apron and released Benoit. Malenko confronted Woman and tried to get the ref back in the ring..but Benoit had recovered and hit Malenko from behind with the Dragon Suplex! One, Two, Three! (80/73/92) -Woman climbed into the ring and lifted up Benoit's arm in victory as the crowd met them both with boos. They left the ring together as Malenko sat up on his knees, looking up the aisle in disbelief as he watched Benoit and Woman leave. -Eddie Guerrero vs. Doomsday (w/'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan): Tony Shiavone wondered if this match was made as part of Flair's 'Deal with the Devil' that he spoke of earlier tonight - as Eddie Guerrero has had his run ins with the Horsemen recently as well - including a big singles win last week in a non-title match against United States Champion Arn Anderson. Here, Guerrero had a huge size disadvantage against The Taskmaster's Faces of Fear member Doomsday. But Guerrero was not going to back down and tried to use his speed to his advantage, keeping away from Doomsday's mammoth arms. This worked for a while, but eventually Guerrero would be caught in midair by Doomsday when Guerrero attempted a crossbody - but Doomsday would simply slam him into the mat. Doomsday took control and worked over Guerrero. Guerrero did a great job selling for Doomsday, making him look like a real monster. But Guerrero would get another shot at victory when he reversed a chokeslam attempt into a tornado DDT! Guerrero hit a sliding dropkick to Doomsday's face as he was getting up! Guerrero would eventually go up top and come flying off the top rope, but he flew right into a boot from Doomsday! Doomsday picked up Guerrero and finished him off with The Doomsday Device! Doomsday made the cover and picked up the three count! (75/71/80) -Kevin Sullivan led his monster out of the ring in victory as Eddie Guerrero was struggling to get back to his feet. But once he was up...Arn Anderson attacked Guerrero from behind! Anderson sent Guerrero into the ropes...SPINEBUSTER! Anderson wasn't done yet, as he kept putting the boots to Guerrero...but out came Bret Hart to make the save! Anderson saw Hart coming, and immediately ducked out of the ring! Hart received big cheers as he checked on Guerrero, while Anderson slowly backed up the aisle. -King of the Ring Preliminary Match: Marty Jannetty vs. Konnan: As the match got underway, Goldust and Marlena made their way down to the ring - once again with Marlena setting up her director's chair as Goldust filmed the match. Konnan had some choice words for Goldust as he took control of the match, but Goldust simply moved in for a clsoe up on the action. Konnan continued to dominate the matchup, but as Goldust climbed onto the apron, Konnan grew sick of Goldust's prescense and shoved Goldust off the apron! This brought Marlena out of her chair and onto the apron, distracting the referee! Goldust climbed back into the ring and hit a low blow to Konnan! Goldust rolled back out of the ring as Marty Jannetty slowly got up...unaware of anything that had gone on. Jannetty noticed Konnan struggling to get back to his feet and took advantage...ROCKER DROPPER! Jannetty with the cover: One, Two, Three! Jannetty picked up the win to advance to the quarterfinals! (71/64/78) -After the match, Goldust climbed into the ring and got a close up of Jannetty's arm being raised. Jannetty didn't seem to mind the attention with him starting to get on a roll recently. -Backstage, we see Ric Flair approaching 'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan. They shook hands and Flair wanted to thank Sullivan for his cooperation. Flair was very impressed with what Doomsday did to Eddie Guerrero - he was looking forward to more of the same against Randy Savage. Sullivan nodded and told Flair that the Faces of Fear would never disappoint - and that it was always a 'pleasure' doing business with him. Sullivan headed off screen as Flair gave a confident grin. (99%) MAIN EVENT: The Giant & Mabel (w/'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan) vs. 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage: If ever the odds were stacked against someone it would be this match. Savage had two beasts staring him down from the other side of the ring, but Savage was up for the challenge. He started the match off against Mabel - keeping his punches flying fast and then started targeting Mabel's legs to get the slower big man down. Savage was fairing well until he went up top and came off with a flying axehandle, only to have Mabel catch him in a bearhug! Mabel tightened his grip and wore Savage down before tagging in The Giant. The Giant took over and completely overpowered Savage. The majority of the match from this point became very one sided as Savage was in a world of trouble against the two monsters. The Giant in particular was looking very dominant in the ring against Savage - but to his credit, Savage kept kicking out of any pinfall attempt the two made...he still wanted that title shot and was willing to endure this punishment to get it. However, just as The Giant looked to put away Savage with The Chokeslam....the sound of a GONG hit the PA system. The Giant dropped savage as THE UNDERTAKER walked out from the back! Kevin Sullivan ordered The Giant to tag in Mabel and go after The Undertaker! The Giant did just that - meeting Undertaker in the aisle and the two began to brawl! Mabel found himself fixed on that action that he did not notice Savage recovering! Mabel turned around into a flying lariat from Savage! Savage rocked Mabel with a plethora of elbow strikes hitting a jumping high knee to Mabel that sent Mabel to the mat! Savage took advantage, hitting a running kneedrop to Mabel before pointing to the top turnbuckle! FLYING ELBOW! Savage had the cover - One, Two, Three! Savage defied the odds and has won himself a title shot at King of the Ring! (77/82/68) -The Undertaker and The Giant continued to brawl - now closer to the ring...but in the ring, it was Randy Savage catching his breath and celebrating his victory as the show came to a close! Raw Saturday Night May 4th, 1996 Announcers: 'J.R.' Jim Ross & Jerry 'The King' Lawler - We open with our announce team promising 3 more qualifying matches tonight, but they are interrupted by the music of the bad Guy, Razor Ramon! Toothpick in mouth, Razor swaggers down to the ring and says he's got some things to get off his chest. He says that last week he saw a mugging. A petty, bitter man attacking a champion. That's not something he will stand for. Razor tells us that while HBK may be one of his fiercest rivals, he respects him. Diesel? He has no respect for. Out steps the man himself now as Diesel laughs at Razor a little. He says that Ramon is just trying to ride the HBK bandwagon and get attention for himself, and he's making a much bigger mistake thinking he can call out Big Daddy Cool. Ramon says he doesn't 'sweat' Diesel. In fact, he's beaten him plenty of times and would be happy to do so again tonight! Diesel mulls it over and says that he accepts his challenge, but that Razor better realize the mistake he's made challenging a man like Diesel! (84%) KOTR Preliminary Match: Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. 'Nasty Boy' Brian Knobbs JR wonders what kind of king Brian Knobbs would be, which makes Lawler almost gag at ringside. Knobbs mostly brawls here, which seem to throw the technically inclined HHH through a loop early. Eventually the match evens out but Brian does surprisingly well for himself as he keeps pace with the young WWF star. Just as is seems Knobbs might take over though, an unknown, statuesque woman steps down to ringside. She immdiately grabs everyone's attention which allows HHH to hit an undetected low blow and than a Pedigree to advance. After his win HHH exits the ring, hugging the woman and raising her hand as JR and Lawler wonder just who she is. (63) - After the break Ted DiBiase comes out for a scheduled KOTR qualifier. DiBiase says that last weeks... setback hurt. But he has news. He's gone out and aquired a good, loyal member of his million dollar team. A man whose served with DiBiase for years. On cue out steps the Tax Man, Irwin R. Schyster! IRS shakes hands with DiBiase and says that starting tonight, he's going to make sure that EVERYONE in the KOTR pays and it starts with that no good street hood Fatu! (80%) KOTR Preliminary Match: Irwin R. Schyster w/ Ted DiBiase vs. Fatu The fun loving Fatu is a handful to say the least as IRS struggles to handle the big man early. Fatu shows some agility but is repeadedly slowed down by IRS with some rest holds. After some back and forth eventually the infamous steel briefcase comes into play when DiBiase distracts the official and IRS uses the halliburton to clean Fatu's clock for the dirty three. (51/61/68) - Backstage now, and we are in the office of Eric Bischoff. He's just finishing up a phone call when welcomes the Smoking Gunns into his office. He tells both men that he has high hopes for them and he has good news... and bad news. The good news is that both men are entrants in this years King Of The Ring! The Gunns seem pleased until Bischoff says the bad news... they were randomly drawn against each other in a qualifier tonight! Bart seems outraged and says he refuses to fight Billy. The blonde Gunn says to wait a minute. He tells Bart that it'd be foolish for them to give up their shot, and he doesn't want his brother to not even get a try at becoming a King. Bart mulls it over a bit and relents, but promises that there will be no hard feelings win, lose or draw! (87%) - In the ring now is Hulk Hogan and his protoge of sorts, the Renegade. Hogan says that tonight he's facing Big Bossman Rogers as he continues to work his way through the Dungeon of Doom. He promises all of his Hulkamaniacs that him and the Renegade are going to keep fighting and running wild all over the Dungeon and challenges the stable to a match at the King Of The Ring! JR wonders how wise it is for two men to challenge 5 as Rogers heads down to the ring flanked by the Dungeon. (87%) 'The Immortal' Hulk Hogan w/ The Renegade vs. Big Bossman Rogers w/ The Dungeon Of Doom These two have a very impressive hard hitting contest. Both men just lay into each other with Bossman getting in a lot of offense including some underhanded eye rakes, body slams and his trademark 2nd rope uppercut. Hogan does manage to comeback eventually, but before he can run wild Vader has seen enough and the mastadon rushes the ring for the immediate DQ! Renegade jumps in now, but with the Shark, Hugh Morrus & One Man Gang the 5 on 2 odds seem overwhelming... (72/82/82) - As the heroes get beaten, suddenly familiar music hits... it's LEX LUGER! In fulls tars and stripes, Luger is joined by a red, white and blue painted Sting and the crowd goes wild! The Dungeon look shocked as the duo rush the ring, helping clear the Doomers and send the crowd into a frenzy with some posing, high fiving and general face goodness. (81%) KOTR Preliminary Match: Bart Gunn vs. Billy Gunn As you can imagine, the two brothers have something of a mirror match early. Exchange wrestling holds for the most part neither can gain an advantage until Billy surprises Bart with a jab. The older brother gets more aggressive after this and eventually hits a left hook that sends Billy right out of the ring! The two really begin to brawl at this stage with entering exchanges of rights and lefts as they battle around ringside. Once back inside bart hits a vicious stun gun on the ropes for a long two. Bart hits a big clothesline in the corner late but his attempt at a follow up bulldog is ducked and Billy manages na impressive one man sidewinder (Fameasser) to get a hard fought W here. The two brother recover exhausted, but after a lengthy staredown shakes hands and hug, with Bart raising Billy's hand to the crowds delight. (59/47/85) - We go backstage with Todd Pettingale now, whose with a KOTR quarter finalist, Owen Hart. Todd asks Owen the obvious question, what was the deal with Brian Pillman last week? Owen says he has no idea what Pillman is thinking. He hasn't spoken to him in years and the 'loose cannon' certainly wasn't needed for him to beat Savio Vega. Todd says fans might be a bit sceptical given Owen's history about whether he's telling the truth or not, but Hart insists that he hadn't spoken to Pillman in years and didn't even know he was on Raw! Todd tries to press further, but Owen says he's done fielding questions and storms off as JR and Lawler wonder how genuine Hart's words are. (80%) Non-Title Match: 'The Bad Guy' Razor Ramon vs. 'Big Daddy Cool' Diesel The crowd, as you'd guess, is red hot for this even if the brawl isn't one of the best these two men have put on. Diesel keeps trying to slow the pace with rest holds as the hot tempered Ramon keeps firing off at him with rights and lefts. Razor's momentum seems to get killed over and over by timely back elbows and chinlocks but he does manage to send Diesel scurrying with a discus punch and even nails his fallaway slam. Eventually Diesel makes a mistake when Razor ducks a big boot and comes back with a clothesline followed by a big middle rope bulldog. The bad Guy sets Diesel up late for the Razors Edge, but Sycho Sid rushes out and attacks his apparent recent rival drawing yet another DQ finish. The two towering monsters start to beat down on Ramon who fights back briefly but loses his momentum after a stiff boot from Diesel. Sid is given some kind of order and leaves the ring where he grabs a table from ringiside! JR says Diesel is looking to add another victim to his list! Sid starts setting it up when HBK's music hits and out runs the world champion, steel chair in hand! Diesel and Sid bail right away as Shawn riles up the crowd and challenges the two big men to bring it on as Raw comes to a close. (75/90/73) OVERALL - 75% Edited by Hajjhowe, Jan 2 2012, 05:09 PM.

WCW Monday Nitro May 6, 1996 Announcers: Tony Shiavoen & Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan -A recap of last week's main event aired prior to the start of the broadcast. We see The Undertaker showing up to draw The Giant away from the ring which was enough to let Randy Savage pull off the unthinkable and defeat Giant & Mabel in handicap action to win a shot at Ric Flair's WCW Heavyweight Title at King of the Ring! -After the Nitro theme, Tony Shiavone and The Brain welcomed us to the show and continued to hype up Randy Savage's win last week. And speak of the devil - 'The Macho Man' RandY Savage kicked off the show, coming down to the ring to talk about his win last week. Savage played up his underdog role last week, and how he had become used to that role over the years - and that he will probably be considered one against Flair at King of the Ring - but Savage said he has defeated Flair before and he knows he can do it again. This brought out Ric Flair and the rest of the Four Horsemen including Woman. They surrounded Savage in the ring - attempting to intimidate him - but Savage didn't back down. Flair took the microphone and told Savage that he has a lot of guts to go into the ring last week against the 3 Faces of Fear alone - but all the guts in the world wouldn't save him from a beating from the Four Horsemen. -Bret 'The Hitman' Hart made his way down to the ring before things could get out of hand for Savage. Hart took the microphone and told Flair to 'hold his horses' - pun intended. Hart suggested that instead of some sneak attack, 4-on-1 assault...how about Flair do things the honorable way for once and choose one of his cronies to team with tonight to take on the Hitman and the Macho Man. Savage agreed with the idea, letting out an 'OHHHHH YEAAAHHH!' Flair said that his middle name was 'Honor' and he would have no problem with that. Flair revealed that tonight he would rather have no one else teaming with him than the man who had been by his side for years and that was none other than United States Champion 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson. WOOO! Flair promised to lay a beating on both Hart and Savage tonight. Hart and Savage were up to the challenge and that match would be tonight's main event! (91%) King of the Ring Preliminary Match: Eddie Guerrero vs. Ultimo Dragon (w/Sony Oono): Just two preliminary matches left before the quarter finals...Eddie Guerrero picked up a huge win the other week in a non-title match against Arn Anderson, but tonight he had to take on a familiar foe in the Japanese sensation Ultimo Dragon. Dragon proved to be a difficult challenge for Guerrero as he matched Guerrero move for move and pace for pace. The two put on an excellent back and forth match, but in the end - Guerrero was too much for Dragon, despite attempted interference from Sony Oono. Guerrero put Dragon away with a brainbuster followed by the Frog Splash to get the three count victory. (81/69/94) -Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was standing by with Lord Steven Regal along with his Blue Bloods. Okerlund wanted to get to the bottom of the attack Regal put on 'The Belfast Bruiser' Fit Finlay last week. Regal called it a travesty that Finlay lucked into a victory over Regal in the King of the Ring contest - but that even so, Regal is still more worthy of being called 'King' than Finlay would ever be. Regal DEMANDED that Finlay kneel before him and kiss his royal boot - and Regal promised that it would happen, as the good Queen would see that justice prevailed. A wrong needed to be made right, and Finlay would prove himself loyal to their fair Queen if he would simply kneel before his Lordship and kiss the boot that would soon be up his rear end! (76%) The Godwinns vs. Public Enemy: It was white gangsters against white hillbillies in tag team action tonight. Last week, Public Enemy helped Harlem Heat do a number on the tag team champion Steiner Brothers - and looked to make an impact in the tag division this week as they took on the Godwinns. It wasn't the prettiest of matchups - as it was mostly a back and forth brawl between all four men. Henry and Phinneous put up a good fight against Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock - but ultimately they fell short in this one as Public Enemy put Henry away with the Drive By to get the three count. (70/65/76) -After the match, Public Enemy wanted to continue to make their mark on the tag division by making a statement. Johnny Grunge rolled out of the ring and grabbed the table the duo had carried out to the ring. Grunge slid the table in to Rocco Rock who took the table and set it up. Phinneous Godwinn tried to attack Rocco Rock - but Grunge made the save for his partner and clothesline Phinneous out of the ring. Rocco Rock and Grunge picked up Henry Godwinn and rolled him onto the table...but before they could hit the Drive By through the table...The Steiner Brothers rushed down to the ring to make the save! Grunge and Rock saw the champs coming and immediately high tailed it out of the ring just as the champs slid into the ring! The Steiner Brothers checked on The Godwinns as Public Enemy high fived on the ramp. -After a commercial break, we come back to find the ring set up for Piper's Pit. 'Rowdy' Roddy Pipper made his way down to the ring to cheers from the crowd as he climbed into the ring and welcomed us to another addition of Piper's Pit. Piper played to the hometown crowd briefly before bringing out his guest of the evening - a quarterfinalist in the King of the Ring Tournament - Steve 'Mongo' McMichael! Mongo came down to the ring to some decent heel heat while being accompanied by his wife Debra McMichael (still sporting a neck brace) and his lawyer Clarence Mason. McMichael climbed into the ring and told Piper it must be a great honor to be standing in the ring with a 'Superbowl Champion.' Mongo showed off his Superbowl ring while Roddy Piper overexagerated fake excitement. Piper laid on the sarcasm heavy in regards to Mongo's ring - which did not sit well with Mongo. Mongo claimed that he is a champion, a real athlete unlike most of the WCW roster - and he knows what it means to win. He promised that he would add another 'trophy' to his very full case with the King of the Ring. Interrupting the egofest was 'The Pearl River Powerhouse' Ahmed Johnson, who started to come down to the ring - but Clarence Mason immediately jumped on the microphone and revealed that Johnson should not come any closer because of the restraining order against Mrs. Debra McMichael. Ahmed Johnson laughed and took a microphone. Johnson told Mongo that he was celebrating a little early...Ahmed suggested that Clarence Mason take Debra to the back because he wanted to whip on Mongo right now! Before Mongo and his entourage could react, 'The Belfast Bruiser' Fit Finlay walked out from the back! He stood next to Ahmed Johnson and took his microphone...Finlay said that there was no fancy piece of paper keeping him from the ring! Finlay headed down to the ring...but Chris Benoit came out as well with Woman. Benoit had his own microphone and said that if anyone's fighting - he wanted to be included! Benoit and Ahmed Johnson had a staredown in the ramp while in the ring Mongo and Fit Finlay were exchanging words with Clarence Mason trying to step in! Goldust suddenly walked out with a microphone! Goldust said that with all this excitement - there was another man looking to make an impact - and now was the perfect opportunity! Marty Jannetty ran down from the back with enthusiasm, sliding into the ring and going right at Mongo! Finlay did not look amused, and immediately decked Jannetty with a right hand! Piper seemed to be enjoying the chaos as Benoit and Ahmed Johnson began to brawl down to the ring as well. Clarence Mason left the ring, getting Debra to the safety of backstage as...DOOMSDAY made his way down to the ring! Piper ducked out of the ring as well now - not wanting anything to do with the massive monster coming to the ring with Kevin Sullivan. WCW officials tried stopping the brawl before Doomsday even got to the ring...but Tony Shiavone received word through his headset that the WCW Board had just booked a six man tag match! Doomsday, Mongo, and Benoit versus Ahmed Johnson, Fit Finlay, and Marty Jannetty...and that match was about to get underway after the break! (75%) -Ahmed Johnson, Marty Jannetty & Fit Finlay vs. Steve McMichael, Chris Benoit, & Doomsday: The match was already in progress after the commercial break - as Fit Finlay was giving a real beatdown to Steve McMichael. The faces took turns getting their shots in at Mongo until Chris Benoit was tagged in. Benoit brought the intensity to match that of Finlay. Benoit lit up the powerhouses' chest with stiff chops. Benoit and Finlay exchanged holds until Jannetty tagged himself in much to Finlay's dismay. Jannetty quickly found himself outmatched by Benoit, and Jannetty soon became the whipping boy for the heels - especially once Doomsday was in the ring. Doomsday not just took out Jannetty once he was in the ring - but also laid out an incoming Finlay and Johnson - showcasing his dominance. The heels were looking strong until Mongo tagged himself back in while Doomsday was dominating. Mongo tried to take advantage as he hit got into his three point stance and waited for Jannetty to slowly pull himself back up...but Doomsday was not happy about being tagged out...Doomsday lifted his boot and kicked Mongo right in the side of the head! Chris Benoit stepped aside as Doomsday left the ring! Jannetty made the tag to Ahmed Johnson, who came in and immediately went after the recovering Mongo. Johnson took full advantage of Doomsday's attack and went for the Pearl River Plunge...but Benoit tried to make the save, only to be cut off by Finlay! With Finlay and Benoit busy with one another - Johnson hit the Pearl River Plunge to Mongo, made the cover and picked up the win for his team! (75/70/81) -After the match, Doomsday glared down the ramp...and walked back down to the ring! Benoit saw Doomsday coming and left the ring! Finlay turned around and was laid out with an uppercut from Doomsday while Ahmed Johnson ate a Big Boot! Marty Jannety stumbled to his feet and walked into a CHOKESLAM from Doomsday! Kevin Sullivan gave his approval as Doomsday stood tall over all three men in the ring. -Backstage, "The Professor" Mike Tenay was standing by to discuss the Cruiserweight Division, currently headlined by champion Dean Malenko. Tenay revealed that the WCW Board had recently amped up their efforts to revitilaze the Cruiserweight Division. Having re-established the title now held by Malenko - scouts have been sent all over the world in search for the top cruiserweights in the world. Tonight, Tenay revealed that WCW has signed one of the top stars in Mexico - Rey Mysterio Jr. Tenay went over Mysterio's history in Mexico and in the United States before revealing that tonight he would debut in a title match against Dean Malenko...and that match was next! A hype video aired for Mysterio featuring clips of the high flyer in action in Mexico. (67%) -WCW Cruiserweight Championship: 'The Man of 1,000 Holds' Dean Malenko (c) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.: Rey Mysterio made his debut tonight in grand fashion - getting a Cruiserweight Title shot in his first match. Malenko and Mysterio proved to have pretty good chemistry with one another, as they went back and forth and put on a good show. The crowd wasn't that interested, however, as they clearly aren't too familiar with Mysterio despite Mike Tenay's best efforts to pimp him to us. Tony Shiavone also was giving Mysterio tons of praise during the match - as Mysterio came within inches of winning the title several times during the match. Mysterio proved himself to be a challenge to Malenko, but Malenko hung in tough and evenetually locked in the Texas Cloverleaf as Rey went for a rana! Malenko sat down on the hold and locked it in tight. Mysterio showed he was a fighter as he seemed to be refusing to tap out, but Malenko had the hold locked on firmly in the middle of the ring and eventually Rey had no choice but to tap out. (71/58/85) -After the match, Dean Malenko showed his respect for the debuting Rey Mysterio by offering the luchadore a handshake. The masked Mexican accepted the handshake as Malenko officially welcomed Mysterio Jr. to WCW. -King of the Ring Preliminary Match: Jake 'The Snake' Roberts vs. Jeff Jarrett (w/Woman): The grizzled veteran Jake Roberts was taking on the newest member of the Horsemen - Jeff Jarrett as he looked to do what his fellow Horseman Benoit had already done - and that's advance to the quarterfinals of the KOTR. Roberts was hoping to have the KOTR give his career one final push as he look impressive early on against Jarrett - but some timely distractions by Woman at ringside gave Jarrett the edge he needed. Jarrett would eventually put Roberts away with his new finisher, a Forward Russian Legsweep called The Tennessee Legsweep. Jarrett hooked the leg and got the three count on Roberts to advance. (80/82/76) -A dark and creepy video aired with The Undertaker and Paul Bearer both barely being made out through some dim lights in what looked to be a dungeon. Paul Bearer did most of the talking here - promising Hell to be paid for Kevin Sullivan and the Three Faces of Fear. Bearer told The Taskmaster that The Undertaker's urn would never be in his possession unless he took it from his cold dead hands. Bearer told him it didn't matter who Sullivan threw at Undertaker...they would all be left to...and the Undertaker finished Paul Bearer's sentence with with a deep, bone chilling 'Rest in Peace.' (87%) -MAIN EVENT: 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage & Bret 'The Hitman' Hart vs. 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair & 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson (w/Woman): In tonight's main event, the number one contender Randy Savage got his chance in the ring with champion Ric Flair in tag fashion. What we got was a pretty formulaic match that saw both teams go back and forth early before Savage and Hart started to establish an advantage with Flair in the ring. But after Arn Anderson tried to enter the ring, he drew the referee's attention - allowing Flair to hit a low blow to Savage! This gave Flair time to bring in Anderson. After a brief double team, Anderson continued to work over Savage in the ring - eventually bringing Flair back in for another brief double team. Flair and Anderson made quick tags and kept their focus on Savage. But Savage kept kicking out each time Flair or Anderson tried to go for the pin. Eventually Anderson and Flair would send Savage into the ropes with an Irish Whip, only to have Savage duck a double clothesline and come back with a double jumping lariats! Savage was able to roll to the corner and bring in Bret Hart! The fresh Bret Hart came in with fiery intensity - taking out both Anderson and Flair. Hart sent Anderson packing to the outside and focused his attention on Ric Flair. Flair begged on his knees for Hart to show some mercy, but Hart didn't fall for it and gave Flair a right hand right to the head. While Hart was controling the offense in the ring, Anderson made his way around the ring and pulled Savage down off the apron! Woman distracted the ref as Anderson slammed Savage into the ring steps! Anderson and grabbed a chair and slid into the ring...CHAIRSHOT to Hart's back! Anderson lifted Hart up...SPINEBUSTER! Flair crawled over and made the cover as Anderson kicked the chair out of the ring. Woman climbed down so that the ref could notice the pinfall - One, Two, Three! (90/94/84) -Woman brought the chair back into the ring and handed it to Anderson. Hart was slowly pulling himself up...but Anderson swung the chair and smashed it right into Hart's head! Hart fell to the mat as Randy Savage was entering the ring...CHAIRSHOT to Savage! Flair pulled Hart to the middle of the ring and asked for the chair. Anderson handed it over and FLair began to repeatedly drive the chair down into Hart's knee! Flair lifted it up repeatedly, driving it down into Hart's knee again and again as the crowd rained down boos. Flair looked to lay on more punishment as he locked the Figure Four in to Hart! Hart was in agonizing pain and his faced show it. Randy Savage was struggling to his feet, but Anderson laid him out with another chairshot! Anderson then drove the chair down onto Hart's knee WHILE locked in the Figure Four! WCW officials began to flood the ring - pulling Flair off of Hart. Flair and Anderson finally left the ring with Woman - heading up the ramp before stopping to look back at what they had done. The damage had clearly been done as WCW officials were requesting a stretcher be brought down for Hart! Nitro came to a close as WCW officials worked on getting Hart onto the stretcher. Raw Saturday Night May 11th, 1996 Announcers: Jim Ross & Jerry 'The King' Lawler - We open our show with the WWF's top two champions, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon, in the ring. They both have mics and HBK speaks first. He tells us that last week, he came back and showed why he has the heart of a champion and he's ready to take Diesel down. Razor chimes in now and says that the IC champion has had his own issues with Sycho Sid, and challenges him to a title match at King Of The Ring! But he doesn't want to wait that long. Instead, he wants the big crazy dude and Diesel to head down and face them right here tonight! After a pause out steps the twin towers themselves. Diesel does most of the talking as he says that last week HBK got lucky. He pulled a fast one on old big daddy cool and now he's got himself all hyped up. He's got himself all ripped and ready to go. Diesel says that's fine, because tonight he's accepting that challenge. BUT, the winner of the match needs some sort of reward. He proposes the winning team gets to pick the stipulation for the WWF title match at KOTR! HBK says whatever it takes for him to get a chance to kick Diesel's teeth right down his throat! (88%) - The British Bulldog & Owen Hart vs. Johnny B. Badd & 'Portuguese Man O' War' Aldo Montoya We are told that all 4 of these men are quarter finalist, and this is something of a preview as they all try to build momentum heading into the tournaments quarter finals. The heel tandem controls the match early as their years of experience allow them the oppurtunity to isolate Aldo Montoya and work the youngster over with tag team maneuvers. After an extended beating Aldo manages a slick dropkick out of nowhere and slow crawls towards his corner. As he approaches Owen grabs his foot, but it's no use because he makes the hot tag and Johnny B. Badd is on FIRE! He starts hitting rights and lefts on both men as they bounce off the mat at the hands of the former golden gloves boxer. Badd is all over them and even nails his patened left hook, but Owen manages to get his foot on the bottom rope. Things slow a little, but it's all Badd as he tags back to Montoya. The upstart seems poised for another upset as he measures up Owen, but he's suddenly grabbed around the ankle from ringside... it's the 1-2-3 Kid! Aldo yells at him and kicks him away, but the distraction allows Owen to run up and nail an Enziguri which gives him the cheap 3. The Kid slides in now and it seems like it's time for a 3-2 beat down but out runs Billy Gunn and his brother Bart! It's a donneybrook all around and amongst the chaos a fan seems to hop the guardrail and attacks Aldo with a series of right hands... it's that maniac Brian Pillman! Pillman quickly escapes as security try to get some semblance of control here on Raw! (80/76/84) - After a break we see Todd Pettengill in the ring. He says it's his honor to introduce two of the newest faces on Raw... Lex Luger & Sting! The duo step out to a big ovation and let it sink in a bit. Once again both men are sporting red, white & blue theme here. Lex speaks first and says it feels good to be back in the WWF. It feels good to be back to the place where he was at his best, fighting for the greatest country on earth... America! He tells us that America is about fair fights and helping others, and that's why he could sit by anymore and watch the Dungeon of Doom bully a real American like Hulk Hogan! Sting speaks now and says he's in a new land. He's spent his entire career in WCW... but it's a new age. He's with his good friend Lex because he wants to do the right thing. He wants to do what's best for the fans and what's best for the business. The two say that tonight they make their in ring debut against Vader & One Man Gang and they promise to show them exactly what it's like to be in a fair fight! (85%) - We get a commericial and than out steps Hunter Hearst Helmsley with the powerful woman he was with last week. HHH says that people are talking about him. Wondering who this statuesque beauty is. He says it's simple. He is to become a King in the world of wrestling, and every good king... needs a Queen. This is where his partner Chyna steps in. He says that she brings to the table something no other woman in professional wrestling does. Beauty, intelligence... and power! He says that after he captures the crown he will not only become King of Wreslting, but Chyna will become the QUEEN of wrestling! As he trie sto keep gloating, out steps Brian Knobbs. The former Nasty Boy says that last week his 'queen' ruined his match and attacked him like a coward. That doesn't sit well with Knobbs who asks the supposed future king if he has the 'balls' to face him right now! HHH is shocked but accepts, promising to make an example of the 'peasent' before him. (67%) Hunter Hearst Helmsley w/ Chyna vs. 'Nasty Boy' Brian Knobbs Another nice brawl between these two as Kobbs is pissed about his treatment last week. Once again HHH is on the back foot and is forced to cheat before using his technical prowess to isolate Knobbs. After a fiarly competitive match HHH gets the momentum he needs when Chyna drilsl Knobbs with a massive bodyslam outside the ring! This leaves Brian ready to be topped off with the Pedigree for the unpopular three. (72/71/73) - Backstage now, and we are with a very pumped up Brutus Beefacake and the lovely Kimberly. Kim says tonight is the last spot in the quater finals. The last man to join the proverbial 'Elite 8) of Raw. She says that her main man Beefcake is in that match, but it's against her old 'friend'... DDP! Beefcake says that a few weeks ago DDP beat him, and than he tried to get fresh with Kimberly. Well, Beefcake showed him exactly what happens when you try that, and promises he won't slip up. He won't let his shot at immortality slip by. Tonight, he's going to be struttin' and cuttin' his way towards the crown of King! (88%) King of the Ring Preliminary Match: Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake w/ Kimberly vs. Diamond Dallas Page These two have been at each others throats for awhile now, and that doesn't change here as the match starts as a slugfest. DDP holds his own early, but eventually Brutus gets a big enough egde to force DDP to poke his eye before he hits a quick discus clothesline. DDP slows things from here, working over Beefcake's neck with some wrenching holds as Kimberly tries to rally the fans behind the barber. It seems to work as Beefcake starts to mount a comeback, but his momentum is killed by a big time jumping DDT that almost seals a W for DDP. Page goes back to work on the neck and after a flying top rope clothesline he signals for the Diamond Cutter. He measures up Beefcake but when he goes for the move Beefcake pushes him off and when DDP comes back he nails his own version of a Cutter, a Stunner! JR calls is the 'Clipper', but whatever it is it's put DDP out and sees Beefcake advance in the tournament! (78/80/74) Sting & Lex Luger vs. Vader & One Man Gang w/ The Dungeon Of Doom The crowd is red hot here with lot's of Luger & Sting chants. These 4 have a solid bout but it's plagued by constant interference from the Doomers. Eventually Hulk Hogan and his protégée The Renegade emerge but by than Meng is in the ring and blatantly grabs at Lex Luger's neck with the Tongan Death Grip for the DQ! It's an all out brawl, but it seems the even numbers leave the Doomers on the back foot and they are forced to retreat, letting the 4 faces on Hogan's side to celebrate their triumph here tonight. (81/86/71) - After that break we see Justin 'The Hawk' Bradshaw in the ring. He isn't alone though as he's standing next to the man once known as Zip. 'Zip' introduces himself as Dr. Tom Pritchard, an expert in fitness here to show the wrestling world just how effective his 'Pritchard Training System' can be. He says that before turning to it, Bradshaw was an out of shape chump. But now, under his patented mix of excersize, nturient and bio floramites (???) he's a wrecking machine! To prove his point he says that he and Bradshaw are sending out an open challenge to any out of shape slobs in the back who think they can handle the Prtichard Training System! The duo wait but their jaws drops when they hear the the music of the LEGION OF DOOM!. Spiked pads and all, the two men step out as Dr. Tom looks ready to crap his pants. Bradshaw even seems nervous as the big, burly, bad ass dudes head into the ring. Tom immidiately bails and Bradshaw is left getting a beating before being hit with a crowd pleasing Doomsday Device as Tom looks on in horror from ringside. The LOD is BACK! (70%) 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels & Razor Ramon vs. 'Big Daddy Cool' Diesel & Sycho Sid This is a very good match and the crowd is hyped to see 4 of the biggest stars in wrestling go at it here. Like the last few matches between these 4, it's the twin tower duo that control things early, using their power to isolate Razor and work over his back as both men weaken him for their signature Powerbombs. Razor shows his heart and toughness though, enduring the beating and eventually making the hot tag to HBK! The world champion is on fire as he takes out his massive foes with diving forearms and atomic drops. He almost scores a 3 before things slow down and both teams end up in a evenly fought contest. After about 15 minutes of back and forth the end comes when Michael seems ready to tune up the band on Diesel, but his former boyguard get a break when Sid steps in... for the Sycho to eat a big Sweet Chin Music himself! The distraction works though as Diesel use sit to sneak in a kick low and drills Shawn with the Jacknife for the three! (87/91/81) - After his win Diesel quickly exits and grabs the WWF championship at ringside. He stares at it for awhile than holds it aloft, shouting that it's "just a matter of time" as Raw comes to a close. (91%) OVERALL - 81% |

WCW Monday Nitro May 13, 1996 Announcers: Tony Shiavone & Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan -Before Tony Shiavone and Bobby Heenan could even welcome us to the show, The Four Horsemen were making their way down to the ring to loud boos from the crowd. WCW Champion 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair led the charge along with United States Champion Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit, Jeff Jarrett, and Woman. Flair climbed into the ring and was as energetic as ever as he bounced off the ropes and took the microphone. Flair immediately began boasting about putting the so-called 'Best there ever will be' out of action, possibly 'for good.' Flair told us to watch the replay which aired with Flair and Jarrett both giving their 'commentary' on the action as we see Arn Anderson repeatedly drive the chair into Hart's knee while Flair had the Figure Four locked in to Hart. Flair said that was why he was THE MAN. And he wanted this to be a lesson to anyone else in the back who thinks about locking horns with the Horsemen - you'll wind up in the emergency room right next to 'The Hitman.' That being said, Flair had some other loose ends besides Hart to tie up, and tonight would be the night The Horsemen dealt with those loose ends. First of all - there's this Eddie Guerrero who decided to stick his nose into Horsemen business and somehow managed to get a fluke win over Arn Anderson. Tonight, in King of the Ring Tournament action - Jeff Jarrett would be taking on Eddie Guerrero. Jarrett promised that he would take care of Guerrero, and Flair was going to enjoy watching that. And then there's the business of someone who made the mistake of turning down the Hoursemen's consideration of the fourth spot...Flair promised that they would deal with Dean Malenko and make sure he never saw success. Flair revealed that Nitro's Chairman on the Board had brought in Mexican superstar Rey Mysterio to defeat Malenko and take his Cruiserweight title. However, Mysterio proved to be a 'bust' when he LOST last week. Flair demanded Rey Mysterio come down to the ring. Rey Mysterio made his way down to the ring to little fanfare as the crowd is still in the process of getting to know this luchadore. Flair looked down to the smaller Rey and bashed him for not doing what he was brought in to WCW to do. Rey apologized, but said that he gave it his all and Malenko was just the better man that night. Flair refused to accept that answer...so he had a punishment for Rey...as right now, he was going to have to step into the ring with...The Three Faces of Fear's Mabel! -Rey Mysterio vs. Mabel (w/'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan): As Mabel lumbered down to the ring - Flair and company left, leaving Rey Mysterio nervously watching his huge opponent climbing into the ring. Mysterio immediately tried to go on the attack, but Mabel completely no-sold everything Mysterio threw at him. Sullivan ordered Mabel to not play around with Mysterio, which sent Mabel into attack mode. He squished Mysterio in the corner with a running splash before plastering him onto the canvas with a powerslam. A running splash finished Mysterio off for the three count. (65/62/68) -After the match, Sullivan told Mabel to continue on the attack. Mabel bounced off the ropes and hit a SECOND splash to Mysterio! Mysterio was holding his ribs in pain as Dean Malenko rushed down to the ring! Malenko climbed into the ring and attempted a leg lariat to Mabel, but Mabel was barely staggered. Mabel dropped Malenko with a clothesline before picking Malenko up and bodyslamming him to the mat. Mabel bounced off the ropes and hit the running splash to Malenko as well! The Taskmaster called off Mabel and the two left the ring with Malenko and Mysterio both writhing in pain on the mat! -Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was standing by with Steve 'Mongo' McMichael along with Debra McMichael and Clarence Mason. Okerlund wanted to get Mongo's thoughts as he was about to head out to the ring for the first of the night's four quarterfinal match ups in the King of the Ring Tournament. Mongo was not afraid of a little Irishman...he's gone up against men three times Finlay's size in the NFL. Mongo showed off his Superbowl ring once again and promised victory tonight, because...as he's said, all he does is win. (71%) -King of the Ring Quarterfinal Match: 'The Belfast Bruiser' Fit Finlay vs. Steve 'Mongo' McMichael (w/Debra & Clarence Mason): In what was a suprisingly good match, Finlay and McMichael did not hold any punches in this brawl. As the match wore on, Schiavone wondered if Mongo was regreting what he said about Finlay - as Finlay was really doing a number on Mongo for a good portion of the match. In fact, it looked like Finlay was going to pick up the victory as he had Mongo set up for the Celtic Driver, but Finlay dropped Mongo when he noticed Lord Steven Regal make his way down to the ring wearing his royal robe. Finlay walked to the ropes and had some choice words for Regal...but as he did, Mongo had gotten into a three point stance. Finlay turned around and was taken out by a shoulder tackle from Mongo! Mongo lifted up Finlay...MONGO SPIKE! McMichael made the cover and picked up the three count! Mongo has advanced to the semifinals of the King of the Ring Tournament! (80/69/91) -After a commercial break, WCW Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers made their way down to the ring to plenty of fanfare from the crowd. Rick and Scott took their time before getting in the ring to high five all the fans at ringside and really play up to the crowd, milking them to perfection. Rick and Scott climbed into the ring as Tony Shiavone hyped up the champs but wasn't sure what the champs were doing out there, since he wasn't aware they had a match tonight. Rick and Scott were preparing in the ring as a referee came down to the ring. We hear Scott say they had been told a last minute match had been added. The referee seemed just as clueless as Shiavone. During the confusion, Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge came from the crowd! They slid into the ring and attacked Scott and Rick from behind! The champs were caught off guard, but they tried to fight back - but Rick got hit with a low blow from Rocco Rock, allowing Rock to help out Grunge to double team Scott Steiner to beat him to the mat. Grunge rolled out of the ring and went under the apron where he pulled out their trusty table. Grunge slid the table into the ring to Rock who set it up. Rick Steiner was trying to get to his feet, but Public Enemy hit him with a double clothesline to send him out of the ring. The crowd booed Public Enemy loudly as they rolled Scott Steiner onto the table. Booker T and Stevie Ray walked out and were watching from the top of the ramp as Public Enemy hit the DRIVE BY through the table! The crowd continued to boo as Sister Sherri walked down from the back to join Harlem Heat, who now began to walk down the aisle. Sister Sherri took the microphone and reminded the referee at ringside the verbal contract The Steiner Brothers had given Harlem Heat about their rematch. Sherri said that they had said Harlem Heat had the right to pick the place and the time. Well, guess what...the place is here and the time is NOW! Sherri ordered the referee to ring the bell! WCW Tag Team Championship Match: The Steiner Brothers (c) vs. Harlem Heat (w/Sister Sherri): Grunge and Rocco Rock high fived Booker T and Stevie Ray before leaving the ring. Booker T made the cover on Scott Steiner - One, Two, Thre....RICK STEINER made the save! Rick tried valiantly to fight off both Booker T and Stevie Ray, but it was no use....he was soon caught in the HEAT SEEKER! Booker made the cover on Rick and the referee reluctantly made the count...One, Two, Three! Harlem Heat have won back the WCW Tag Titles! (80/77/83) King of the Ring Quarterfinal Match: Ahmed Johnson vs. Chris Benoit (w/Woman): Benoit and Ahmed Johnson wrestled a solid match in our second quarter final match of the night. The winner he would go up against 'Mongo' at King of the Ring in the semifinals. If anyone wanted to get in the ring with Mongo, it was Ahmed Johnson. But getting past the Horsemen's Chris Benoit was not going to be easy. Benoit showed off his intensity in the ring against Johnson, but Johnson fired back - matching Benoit's intensity with power. Johnson took control of Benoit with his size and strength, but Benoit fought back thanks to a little distraction from Woman. Benoit worked over Johnson's massive arms as he took control of the match. Benoit locked in a vicious crossarmbar - but Johnson muscled his way to the ropes to break up the hold. The end came when Benoit came off the top looking for the Flying Headbutt, only to have Ahmed Johnson roll out of the way! This gave Johnson the opening he needed and soon Benoit fell victim to the Pearl River Plunge! Johnson made the cover and picked up the victory to advance to the semifinals! (80/78/83) -Backstage, Goldust and Marlena were prepping Marty Jannetty for his big quarterfinal match against Doomsday. Jannetty seemed rightfully nervous, but Marlena began giving him a backrub as he sat in her director's chair. Goldust gave Jannetty a speech design to inspire him - explaining Jannetty that he was well on his way to being a STAR..a star bigger than that then even his former partner, Shawn Michaels. Goldust told Jannetty all he had to do was win tonight and he'll be in the semifinals and the BIG TIME. Jannetty grinned before popping up from the chair and saying he was ready for the big time. (78%) -Marty Jannety (w/Goldust & Marlena) vs. Doomsday (w/'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan): Marty Jannetty was gung-ho about taking on Doomsday, but once Doomsday was in the ring staring down the smaller Jannetty - reality set in. Doomsday dominated most of this match, with Jannetty getting in a few moves that seemed to have no impact on Doomsday whatsoever. However, as Doomsday was setting Jannetty up for the Doomsday Device...the lights in the arena went out! The familiar tolling of the Undertaker's music began...and after a few moments of silence, the lights came back on. Doomsday was laid out in the middle of the ring! There was no sign of The Undertaker, but Jannetty was up on his knees. A confused Jannetty was dumbfounded, but Goldust was jumping up and down at ringside with excitement. Jannetty finally realized what was in front of him...he quickly crawled over and made the cover! One, Two, Three! Jannetty won and advanced to the semifinals with what appeared to be a big assist from The Undertaker! The Taskmaster was fuming at ringside... (70/65/75) -After a commercial break, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was standing by with 'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan who was still very upset about what had just transpired. He was angry that The Undertaker had taken Doomsday out of contention for the King of the Ring...but suddenly, almost instantly, his anger had vanished and a sadistic grin crossed The Taskmaster's face. Sullivan was envious of the power of The Undertaker...he had to have him under his control. He relished at the idea of what The Undertaker would do if he was under the command of the Taskmaster. Sullivan promised that at King of the Ring - the urn would be his and the rest of WCW would be doomed. (75%) MAIN EVENT: King of the Ring Quarterfinal Match: Eddie Guerrero vs. Jeff Jarrett (w/Woman): The last match of the night was also the quarterfinal match up to finalize the line up for King of the Ring. The winner here would advance to face Marty Jannetty in the semifinals at King of the Ring. The crowd was rallying behind Eddie, hoping to see him take out Jarrett and make the semifinals of the KOTR Horsemen-free. The match went back and forth, with Jarrett starting to establish an advantage thanks to some assistance from Woman. But Jarrett struggled to keep Eddie down. Eddie had a never say die attitude that kept him kicking out of anything Jarrett could throw at him. Jarrett grew frustrated, which opened the door for Eddie to battle back. Jarrett sent Eddie into the ropes and went for a backdrop, but Eddie jumped over Jarrett and rolled him up into a cradle - One, Two, kickout by Jarrett! Both men rolled to their feet, only to have Guerrero take down Jarrett with a dropkick! Guerrero found his second wind and was on a roll, eventually hitting Jarrett with a brainbuster! Guerrero pointed to the top turnbuckle, which brought the crowd to their feet...Eddie was going to go for the Frog Splash, but Woman climbed on the ropes and distracted both Guerrero and the ref. Arn Anderson snuck down to ringside, and climbed the apron. Anderson shoved Guerrero off the top turnbuckle! Guerrero fell to ringside, landing on his feet! But Guerrero's knee buckled and he fell to the ground! Anderson took a chair from ringside and slammed it down into Guerrero's knee. Shiavone worried we might be seeing a flashback to last week with Bret Hart. Anderson rolled Guerrero back into the ring to a waiting Jarrett as Woman climbed down off the apron. Jarrett pulled Guerrero to the middle of the ring and locked in the Figure Four! Guerrero was in intense pain thanks to Anderson's chair shot...but he did not want to tap out. The crowd tried to rally Guerrero to make it to the ropes or turn the hold over...but his knee was in too much pain...Guerrero was still refusing to tap! But he was in too much pain that he couldn't hold himself up anymore. His shoulders were down on the mat: One, Two, Three! Jarrett would represent the Horsemen in the King of the Ring semifinals! (83/84/83) -Jeff Jarrett kept the hold locked in Anderson climbed into the ring armed with the chair. The referee tried to step in, but Anderson shoved him away. The crowd got to their feet as Anderson was about to drive the chair down into Guerrero's knee and give us a repeat of the Bret Hart incident from last week...but RANDY SAVAGE had slid into the ring behind Anderson! Savage yanked the chair from Anderson! Savage laid out Anderson with a shot from the chair! Jarrett tried to unhook himself from Guerrero and get away, but Savage grabbed him and turned him around...CHAIRSHOT to Jarrett! Randy Savage took the microphone and told Ric Flair that the games were over. No one else needed to get hurt tonight - unless it was Flair...OOOOHHH YEAH! Savage demanded that Flair come down to the ring RIGHT NOW because he didn't want to wait for King of the Ring. Not after what Flair did to Hart last week and what they were about to do to Eddie Guerrero tonight. Savage noticed Woman at ringside still...he rolled out of the ring and grabbed her by the hair and tossed her into the ring. Woman was on her knees begging, which got a smart comment from 'The Brain.' Savage informed us that some of us might have read about Miss Elizabeth being injured on the road this week...will this little hussy was the reason for it. Savage grabbed Woman by the hair and said that he realized Flair had nothing to gain by coming down to the ring to face Savage now...but he hoped Flair was a bigger man than to let the woman behind the Horsemen get hurt. The crowd actually seemed to enjoy Savage's threatening of Woman, which the Brain found repulsive. Finally, out came Ric Flair - who demanded Savage take his hands off her. Savage shoved Woman away as Flair slid into the ring. The crowd was electic as the two went nose to nose...Flair made the first move, going for a right hand - but Savage blocked it! Savage fired back with several right hands that had Flair staggered. Savage whipped Flair into the ropes, but Flair hooked the top rope to prevent himself from bouncing back to Savage. Anderson and Jarrett helped pull Flair from ringside as they regrouped with the terrified Woman. Savage paced around the ring in frustration before picking the chair back up! Flair noticed Savage exiting the ring with the chair and the Horsemen took off to the back as Savage gave chase as Nitro faded out! (99%) OVERALL - 81% |

Raw Saturday Night May 18th, 1996 Announcers: Jim Ross & Jerry 'The King' Lawler King Of The Ring Quarter Finals: Irwin R. Schyster vs. Johnny B. Badd IRS is out solo, but it doesn't seem to phase him as he gives everything and than some in this highly competative match-up. Badd is on the defennsive early as IRS pounds him with clubbing blows and grinds down the atheletic youngster. He follows up with some tight suplexes including a tight vertical that really rocks the TV champion. After fighting out of a chinlock, Badd begins his comeback using his fast hands and hitting a big slingshot legdrop for 2. IRS turns momentum after a massive flying clothesline but Badd somehow manages to kick out. IRS eventually grabs his halliburton, but his attack is dodged and he eats the big left hook! Marvel than follows up with the breath taking Wild Thing moonsault to get the 3 much to the crowds delight. (76/67/86) - Backstage now and we see Todd Pettengill with Owen Hart & The British Bulldog. He asks both men how they feel as they get ready for their KOTR matches. Bulldog says he's very confident in winning. He says his opponent isn't a singles 'star' like him and that he promises to punish Billy Gunn and make him regret ever hurting his family. Owen says that on the subject of family, his is going to get one step closer to securing the crown. He promises that after Bulldog beats Gunn and he cuts down the Barber, the two brother-in-laws will meet man to man and guarentee one of them the crown! The two seem pretty amicable as they leave and Todd sends it back to ringside. (86%) - At ringside as Aldo Montoya is heading down to the ring for his match. Before he can get there though, he's attacked from behind by HHH and Chyna! The power couple beat him up with Chyna even throwing him into the steel guardrail before Eric Bischoff runs out with officials and bans Chyna from ringside! The blue blood is fuming, but at least he's got an early edge over the Portuguese man of war! (70%) King Of The Ring Quarter Finals: Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. 'Portugese Man O' War' Aldo Montoya Aldo is on the back foot early, as the Connecticut snob works him over focusing on his neck with some grinding chinlocks. Aldo slowly mounts a comeback, but any attempts at building momentum are quickly dashed with a timely counter attack from HHH. Hunter manages to nail his high knee for a long two but it seems to have fired up Aldo as he counters out of an attempted facebuster into a backslide and starts building momentum from here with an atomic drop and an impressive springboard clothesline. Just as it seems Aldo is poised to make an impact, he's suddenly tripped up at ringside... it's the 1-2-3 Kid! Aldo's distracted long enough for HHH to capitalize with another big knee to the back of Montoya's head before he drills him with the Pedigree for the tainted 3 and a spot in the semi-finals. (70/61/79) - After a commercial break we see Dr. Tom Pritchard and Justin 'The Hawk' Bradshaw in the ring, dressed to fight. Dr. Tom says last week he was sneak attacked and could have been badly hurt! Luckily, nobody was too damaged. Bradshaw seems rather annoyed by this as Pritchard goes on to challenge the Legion Of Doom to step up and face them right here, right now! Not ones to back down from a challenge, the LOD head down the ramp and this match is on right now! (74%) Dr. Tom Pritchard & Justin 'The Hawk' Bradshaw vs. The Legion Of Doom It's obvious early on that Dr. Tom wants no part of LOD, as he only tags in when Bradshaw manages to weaken Hawk enough for him to feel comfortable in the ring, and quickly tags out whenever a LOD member builds momentum. Eventually this system tires out the big Texan Bradshaw and as the LOD run through their moves Dr. Tom refuses to tag, grabbing his arm and claiming to have suffered some sort of injury. Facing hopeless odds Bradshaw eventually falls victim to the Doomsday Device, giving the LOD the three. Pritchard is livid at ringside, admonishing a nearly KO'd Bradshaw as we cut to a commercial. (77/74/80) - We come back from the commercial to the backstage area where Todd Pettengill is with the WWF champion, Shawn Michaels! Todd says shawn has another huge tag match tonight, but HBK cuts him off and says it's more than huge. It's more than monumental. It's the Heart Break Kid teaming with a legend... Hulk Hogan! On cue the Hulkster himself steps onto the scene and both men exchange a hug. Hogan says it's a honor to be teaming with the 'Face' of the New Generation and that he's thrilled to run wild all over Big Daddy Cool and Big Bad Vader. HBK agrees and says that the Show Stopper and the Immortal are an unstoppable tandem and promises a big W for them in tonight's main event! (88%) King Of The Ring Quarter Finals: Owen Hart vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake w/ Kimberly Owen does an excellent job of making the Barber look good here as he bounces around and generally makes Beefcake look like a badass. After a few minutes though he starts his comeback after a dropkick and eventually gains a firm hold of the bout, including hitting a big wheel kick for two. After some back and forth in the contest Beefcake's recent rival Diamond Dallas Page saunters out, much to the crowd shagrin. DDP begins talking to Kimberly at ringside, the valet of Brutus talking back. The exchange seems to rise the ire of Beefcake who leaves the ring and confronts DDP. The distraction let's Owen get an upperhand though as he hits a baseball slide and than takes over back in the ring before topping off Brutus with a Sharpshooter. DDP looks about ready to pick up the scraps, but as Kimberly begs him not to he surprisingly relents content to have cost Brutus a spot in the semi-fianls. (78/76/80) - We are in the Dungeon Of Doom locker room now as Jimmy Hart does a rather poor job of hyping up his men. He promises absolute victory for Vader tonight and at King Of The Ring, his men will crush Hulk Hogan and his lackeys as well! (75%) King Of The Ring Quarter Finals: British Bulldog vs. Billy Gunn w/ Bart Gunn A huge opportunity for Billy here, as he faces the former intercontinental and tag team champion British Bulldog. He struggles early as the sheer power of Bulldog sees him throw the younger Gunn around and seem well on his way to an easy W. Billy shows his resolve though as he fights back and hits a big corner splash that seems to change the momentum of the contest. From here the two have a nicely paced bout with Billy using his speed to negate from of Bulldog's power. The veteran does manages to take over late after hitting his trademark delayed vertical suplex but as he sets up for the Powerslam, Brian Pillman of all people rushes out. Bulldog looks confused and yells at Pillman, whose on the apron and is screaming at Bulldog to get his attention. It works but the distraction allows Billy to slide off of Bulldogs back and rolls him into a schoolboy for the upset three! Billy Gunn is in the semi-finals! He celebrates at ringside with his brother as Bulldog looks shocked before turning towards a grinning Pillman. Bulldog is pissed in the ring as Pillman screams he did it to 'save the family' before he runs off from a chasing Bulldog! (78/78/79) 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels & 'The Immortal' Hulk Hogan vs. 'Big Daddy Cool' Diesel & Vader w/ The Dungeon Of Doom Things looks dicey early for the heroes, but they are quickly joined at ringisde by Sting, Lex Luger & the Renegade to help even the odds. The four men put on a surprisingly solid bout with Vader and HBK doing most of the legwork both on offense and in HBK's case, selling the big duo's power moves. After isolating the WWF champion is seems the heels are poised for victory, especially after a big boot from Diesel gets him a very long 2. Eventually the champion shows his resolve and heart though and after dodging a corner splash from Vader he manages to hit a big standing moonsault! From here hs crawls and crawls... and makes the hot tag! Hogan is on fire with big right hands and even manages to hit a big bodyslam on Vader.Feeding off the crowd Hogan just wallops both side as Diesel, apparently wanting no part of a raging Hulkster, simply leaves the ring. Vader can't capitalize on the brief distractions and eventually eats a big Sweet Chin Music before Hogan polishes him off with the legdrop for the 3! Vader rolls out of the ring and recuperates with the rest of the Doomers and Hogan's team and HBK celebrate a big win to end Raw! (87/92/78) OVERALL - 78% |

WCW Monday Nitro May 20, 1996 Announcers: Tony Shiavone & Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan -The show opens with a flashback to last week, highlighting the end of the show where Randy Savage saved Eddie Guerrero from injury at the hands of the Four Horsemen. Savage called out Flair, but did not get the confrontation he wanted as Flair and the Horsemen managed to get out of the ring and avoid further damage at the hands of 'The Macho Man.' -Tony Shiavone & Bobby Heenan welcomed us to the show as we were less than one week away from the first ever supershow - King of the Ring. Tonight, Flair and Savage would BOTH be in singles competition. Savage will be taking on Flair's right hand man, 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson while Flair will be going up against the man Anderson and Jarrett almost took out last week - Eddie Guerrero! Guerrero and Anderson have also been signed for King of the Ring for the United States title! Billy Kidman vs. Taka Michinoku: 'The Professor' Mike Tenay joined Schiavone and Heenan at the announce booth to give us some background info on these two cruiserweights. Tenay explained that WCW continues to amp up it's Cruiserweight Division and these two are trying to impress the powers that be tonight. Michinoku had previously seem action in WWF, and took on Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko a few weeks ago in a losing effort on Nitro, while Kidman was making his WCW debut. Kidman and Taka put on a fast paced, high flying match that the announcers were salivating over, though the fans had a hard time getting into due to their lack of knowledge of either of these two wrestlers. Taka was playing the heel role, cutting a few corners during the match and eventually put Kidman away with his Michinoku Driver for the three count! Tenay called it an impressive victory for Taka Michinoku. (72/45/99) -Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was standing by with half of the Four Horsemen - 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair and 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson along with Woman. Flair was hysterical about Randy Savage's actions last week as he tried to harm Woman. Flair called Savage a maniac that should be arrested...Flair said he should not be having to defend his title against him this Sunday at King of the Ring. Flair promised to make Savage pay for even TRYING to touch Woman. Arn Anderson added that tonight he would make sure Savage didn't make it to King of the Ring. (96%) -WCW Cruiserweight Champion 'The Man of 1,000 Holds' Dean Malenko made his way down to the ring along side Rey Mysterio. The duo climbed into the ring and took the microphone. Malenko explained that they may be small in size, but they were not going to be pushed around by anyone - not even The Faces of Fear. Malenko said that they would be in 6 man tag action tonight against all three members of the Faces of Fear...but they had an equalizer...because their tag partner was.... THE UNDERTAKER! (71%) -The Undertaker, Dean Malenko, & Rey Mysterio vs. The Three Faces of Fear (w/'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan): As long as The Undertaker was in the ring, the faces were fairing well against the trio of monsters that are The Giant, Mabel, and Doomsday - but the second one of the cruiserweights got into the match - it was a different story. Malenko and Mysterio had the heart - but were no match for any of the three monsters. Despite the punishment being dished out by the Faces of Fear - Undertaker kept making the save on any pinfall attempt. Malenko managed to sneak in a jawbreaker to Mabel, which opened the door for him to get the tag to The Undertaker...but just as he was going to tag in Taker - The Giant pulled Undertaker down off the apron so that Malenko tagged in Mysterio instead! The Giant and Undertaker brawled at ringside as Rey Mysterio springboarded into the ring...right into a BIG BOOT from Doomsday! CHOKESLAM by Doomsday to Rey Mysterio was followed up by a running SPLASH from Mabel! Doomsday made the cover - One, Two, Three! (75/72/79) -The action continued after the match as Doomsday lifted Dean Malenko up into a military press before TOSSING him over the top rope to the floor! Meanwhile, The Giant rolled Undertaker into the ring - making it a three on one to The Undertaker. The beating continued as Undertaker tried to get to his feet...finally The Giant and Doomsday combined to hit a DOUBLE CHOKESLAM to The Undertaker! 'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan climbed into the ring as Mabel and Doomsday held The Undertaker up...Sullivan revealed that at King of the Ring...The Undertaker would be stepping into the ring with...THE TASKMASTER himself! -Nontitle Match: 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage vs. 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson (w/Woman): The crowd was hot for Randy Savage's entrance, while Anderson drew big boos on his. The crowd stayed very active during the match as Savage and the US Champion went back and forth. After Savage started strong - Anderson used a distraction from Woman to take the upperhand. Anderson nearly picked up a victory over Savage after hitting him with the Gourdbuster - but Savage managed to kick out at the very last second. The crowd rallied Savage to his feet and Savage unloaded a punch combination to Anderson that had the US Champion reeling. A high knee from Savage laid out Anderson! Savage continued on the attack before executing a piledriver to Anderson that seemed to signal the beginning of the end. Savage pointed to the top rope which drew excitement from the crowd as Savage climbed to the top. Savage soaked up the crowd's reaction before coming off the top with the Flying Elbowdrop! Savage hooked Anderson's leg - One, Two, Three! Savage with a strong victory heading into King of the Ring! (90/94/82) -After the commercial break, we got a recap of last week's Nitro that saw an attack by Public Enemy on The Steiner Brothers that led to Harlem Heat cashing in their rematch clause to win the WCW Tag Titles. As we went back to live TV - 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper was in the ring for this week's Piper's Pit. Piper played to the crowd briefly before bringing out this week's guests - the new WCW Tag Team Champions - Harlem Heat. Booker T and Stevie Ray along with Sister Sherri made their way down to the ring to loud boos from the crowd. They climbed into the ring and gloated over their tag victory. Piper brought up how cheap the victory was, and how they really shouldn't be proud of such a victory. Sister Sherri told Piper to keep his nose out of their business - The Steiner Brothers were the ones who said Harlem Heat could name the place and time of the rematch - it's their own fault. This brought out the former champs themselves - Scott & Rick Steiner - both looking a little worse for wear thanks to the assault last week from Public Enemy. The Steiners clearly wanted a rematch themselves - but Sister Sherri stepped in and told The Steiner Brothers that they were entitled to a rematch - but unlike them, they're not dumb enough to let the 'challengers' decide the time and place. Harlem Heat would decide the time and place of their rematch - whether they liked it, or not! (81%) -Lucky O'Grady vs. Lord Steven Regal (w/The Blue Bloods): Regal was up against the stocky Irish cruiserweight - 'Luck O'Grady' who was making his WCW debut. It was fitting that Regal was up against an Irishman, given his recent run-ins with Fit Finlay. O'Grady showed some spirit early on, but Regal quickly grounded the newcomer and began to put on a clinic. Regal barely broke a sweat before locking O'Grady in the Regal Stretch and getting him to tap out. (64/47/81) -Regal was not done yet - he called the Blue Bloods in the ring and ordered them to put the boots to poor O'Brady. Eaton and Taylor did as they were told - not letting O'Grady to his feet and sent stiff boots to his back. Regal took the microphone and told Fit Finlay that this was on him. Regal said that he had made a promise that an Irishman would be bowing down to his Lordship and kissing his boot...well, for now - this little leprachaun would have to do! Taylor and Eaton held O'Grady into a kneeling position and forced him down onto Regal's boot for a smooch. Regal laughed and then kicked O'Grady right in the face! Regal and the Blue Bloods left the ring to loud boos from the crowd. (85%) King of the Ring Preview Elimination Match: Ahmed Johnson vs. Marty Jannetty (w/Goldust & Marlena) vs. Jeff Jarrett (w/Woman) vs. Steve 'Mongo' McMichael (w/Debra McMichael & Clarence Mason): It was a crowded ringside for this match which was designed to preview the semifinals of the Nitro side of the King of the Ring tournament. Goldust was busy filming Jannetty's attempt to win the KOTR as the 'ultimate' underdog while Woman joined Jarrett and Mongo had his entourage. This was elimination rules, with tags so only two men were in the ring at once. After some intense back and fourth action between all four men, Mongo struck first as Debra distracted the referee. Clarence Mason slid in the steel briefcase to Mongo who cracked the briefcase across Johnson's head! Mongo took advantage, sliding it out of the ring and picking up the three count to eliminate Johnson! Ahmed Johnson was sent to ringside as Marty Jannetty took his place in the ring. Mongo quickly overpowered Jannetty and took control, until Ahmed Johnson began to stir at ringside. Johnson was livid about his elimination, and began to jaw with Clarence Mason at ringside...until Johnson climbed onto the apron - drawing the ref and Mongo. As Mongo was distracted, Jannetty snuck up behind and scored with a roll up! One, Two, Three! Mongo was eliminated! This left Jarrett and Jannetty in the ring against one another as they will be in the Semifinals of the King of the ring. Jannetty suprised Jarrett with his offense and Jarrett was actually reeling from the high energy attack from Jannetty! But Jarrett used a poke to the eye to slow Jannetty down and retake control. Jarrett looked on his way to victory...until Marlena distracted the refree..allowing Goldust to trip Jarrett as he bounced off the ropes! Woman was outraged, but Jannetty recovered to see Jarrett slowly getting up...ROCKER DROPPER! Jannetty with the pin - ONE, TWO, THREE! Marty Jannetty sneaks out another victory thanks to Goldust and Marlena, unbeknownst to Jannetty! (76/77/76) -Backstage, Eddie Guerrero was going through his final prepartions for perhaps the biggest match of his career against WCW World Champion Ric Flair. Randy Savage entered the locker room and shook Guerrero's hand. Savage said that he respected Guerrero's spirit and told him that he had his back tonight. That match was the Main Event - and it was NEXT! (81%) -MAIN EVENT: Non-Title Match: Eddie Guerrero vs. 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair (w/Woman): Eddie Guerrero was fired up for his match against the WCW World Champion, but Flair had brought his A-Game as well as he was still ticked off from last week's encounter with Savage. The duo traded exchanges early on before Guerrero started to get the upperhand on the champion. Guerrero picked up a few nearfalls that had the crowd on the edge of their seat. Guerrero's advantage quickly faded when Flair snuck in a low blow via a back mule kick behind the ref's back. Guerrero fell to the ground and Flair used a moment to regain his composure before going on the attack. Flair began to control the offense of the match - using several cheapshots from his playbook that made him the 'dirtiest player in the game.' But Guerrero continued to show his heart as he kept kicking out of anything Flair threw at him. Flair began to grow more and more frustrated with each kick out, which in turn got the crowd more and more excited and behin Guerrero in attempts to bring him back into the match. Guerrero finally battled his way back to his feet, only to have Flair knock him back down with a snapmare. Flair focused his attention on Guerrero's knees - eventually locking in the Figure Four to Guerrero! The ref checked in - but Guerrero was REFUSING to tap! Guerrero somehow found the energy to roll over and put the pressure on Flair! Flair quickly scurried to the ropes and pulled himself free. Flair rolled to ringside to regroup with Woman...but soon Guerrero came out of nowhere with a suicide dive to Flair! Both men were down on the outside! Guerrero was up first and began to pull Flair up...he tried to roll Flair back into the ring, but Flair held onto the apron. Flair fired a back elbow to Guerrero's head. The ref was performing the ten count in the ring as Flair slammed Guerrero head first into the apron. The count was up to seven as Flair whipped Guerrero HARD into the ring steps. Eight...Nine...Flair rolled back into the ring...TEN! It wasn't the cleanest of victories, but Flair had a victory nonetheless heading into King of the Ring! (93/91/95) -Flair exited the ring after the match and grabbed a chair before rolling Guerrero into the ring. Flair climbed into the ring with the chair and began to measure up Guerrero as Guerrero tried to pull himself up...but the crowd roared as Randy Savage rushed down to the ring! Flair dropped the chair and ducked to ringside. Woman and Flair ran up the aisle as Savage had entered the ring. Woman handed Flair the WCW Title, which Flair held up high in the air as Savage stared Flair down from in the ring with Guerrero. The show came to a close as Shiavone and Heenan hyped up King of the Ring! OVERALL - (93/91/95)

Raw Saturday Night May 25th, 1996 Announcers: Jim Ross & Jerry 'The King' Lawler - Our show opens with Raw's trademark sirens as JR and the King promise an action packed night including Hulk Hogan in action plus a HUGE contract signing for HBK vs. Diesel! But right now? A very special King Of The Ring preview! Johnny B. Badd & Billy Gunn w/ Bart Gunn vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley & Owen Hart w/ Chyna & British Bulldog The 4 men representing Raw put on a nice showcase here as everyone was made to look strong and get in their spots. Billy looked paticularly dangerous, although JR noted that as a 'tag team specialist' he had a leg up on his opponents tonight. Lawler said he was confident one of Hart of HHH would be wearing the crown for Raw and even said Billy Gunn would be alright, but when asked about Badd he told us there was no way in hell. The match itself saw Badd play face-in-peril as the heels took turns punishing his legs, trying to ground the high flyer. After a long segment of this Badd made the hot tag and Billy naied some dropkicks and clothesline before hitting a big powerslam for a long two on Owen. Bulldog looked to get involved, but Bart Gunn started brawling with him at ringside. Chyna tried to use the distraction, but was grabbed by Billy who threatened to hit her. Her rescue came from Brian Pillman however, as the Loose Cannon again run in from the crowd and assaulted Billy. He seemed poised for something more but Johnny B. Badd stepped in and tackled him as Pillman scurried for freedom. Owen, seeing his chance cockily walked up and set Billy in position for a piledriver, but Gunn surprised him with a backflip and than hit the recovering Owen with the Sidewinder for the three! It's anarchy all over the place, but Billy Gunn has the win here! Could we be looking at the next King of the Ring? (80/77/83) - We cut backstage to Todd, whose with Hulk Hogan & his teammates. He asks the Hulkster for his thoughts ahead of another big tag match tonight against Vader & One Man Gang. Hogan says he's got the Dungeon running. He's got them scared good. They can't handle his 24 inch pythons, and when you add his parter Lex's 24, it's too much for ANYONE to take! Luger says that tonight he and Hogan are going to show the Dungeon that fear and intimidation can't beat the power of Hulkamania, the power of America and the power within all of the Raw fans! The two men are totally hyped and ask what the DUngeon is gonna do when the Patriot and the Immortal run wild on them!?!? (93%) Irwin R. Schyster & 'Supreme Fighting Machine' Kama vs. The Legion Of Doom A solid bout here as JR says that Ted DiBiase's million dollar team is officially disbanded, but it's clear that IRS and Kama feel they make a good team. They prove it here as they aren't pushed around but the big road warriors and control large portions of the match with their methodical pace. Eventually the LOD mount a comeback with Hawk even hitting his trademark neckbreaker on IRS. Just as they seem poised to make an impact though, out runs Dr. Tom Pritchard. The good Doctor is screaming at ringside and even gets on the apron where Animal bull rushes him over. Kama joins the ringside fracas and as the ref is distracted from out of nowhere we see Justin 'The Hawk' Bradshaw enter the ring and just crush Hawk with a big time Lariat! Hawk is KO'd as IRS crawls to cover and that's 3! A big upset here! (78/74/82) - Bradshaw yanks Dr. Tom out of the chaotic brawl between Animal and Kama as Pritchard grabs a mic and challenges the LOD to face them AGAIN next week... if they have the guts! JR questions just how sane that is as a shocked Bradshaw seems to just shake his head at Dr. Tom. (75%) - We are in the parking lot when a stretch limo pulls up. The driver steps out and opens the door revealing Diesel! He's dressed to the 9's as JR and Lawler hype his contract signing. (89%) Aldo Montoya vs. Avatar These two have a fantastic match, showing great chemistry as both are given ample time to show off their skills. Aldo seems to control things early with his speed, but eventually Avatar nails a big chop to the neck and slows his opponent with some Ninja influenced offense. After the back and forth bout gets hotter and hotter Avatar nails a big Uranage to a sitout spinebuster for a long 2. He signals for the end, but when he scoops Aldo into a suplex the Portuguese star slips free and nails a big spinrgboard clothesline. Just as Aldo gets ready for a big impact move though, the 1-2-3 Kid climbs onto the top rope and drills him with the 1-2-3 Kick right in front of the official for the immidiate DQ. Kid isn't done as he kicks and stomps away at Aldo, screaming that he won't be 'embarrassed' by the young superstar. He kicks Aldo right out of the ring and once outside he starts removing the protective mats! Before he can continue officials rush out though as Kid screams he wants Aldo at King Of The Ring. (69/51/88) - We go backstage again where British Bulldog is shouting at Owen, asking him what the hell happened. Owen says he has no idea. One minute he's got that 'young cowboy punk' on the ropes, than Brian ran out and Chyna... Bulldog cuts him off and says that Pillman is the problem. Owen has to keep that lunatic out of his life. He's going to cost him everything. Owen ponders this for a bit when suddenly Pillman barges into the room and hugs him! Owen looks shocked as Pillman apologizes for his screw up (And hits himself a few times as punishment) but promises to help at KOTR. He than turns towards Bulldog, his expression turning to one of anger as he asks what this 'interloper' is doing here. Owen says that the Bulldog his is brother in law but he does like the idea of Pillman giving him some... moral support. Bulldog throws his arms in in frustration and asks Owen if he seriously wants to put his trust in a certifiable lunatic like Pillman. Brian screams at Bulldog now to shut his mouth, but apologizes and tells Owen he promises to do what's best if he just let's him join him at ringside on PPV tomorrow. Owen mulls briefly and than agrees, saying he wants BOTH of them at ringside to watch him be crowned King once again! (89%) - We get a special video at what appears to be some sort of rock show. After a few shots we focus on a pair of bald men in skirts. They introduce themselves as Chaz & Thrasher, the Headbangers. They tell us that the only thing they love more than going to a wicked show, is fighting in the ring! They promise to rock the WWF and than jump into each other before saying they need more 'practice' in the moshpit. (62%) Hulk Hogan & Lex Luger w/ Sting & The Renegade vs. Vader & One Man Gang w/ The Dungeon of Doom This is an ugly brawl, but the crowd is all over it for these 4 men. Surprisingly it's Hogan who plays face in peril as OMG and Vader take turns wearing down the immortal one with clubbing blows to his back and Gang even slaps on a tough bearhug. Hogan eventually fights back and when he tags Luger the All American is on fire. He hits clotheslines and bodyslams to the giants as the crowd rally behind him. He ven drills Hugh Morrus off the apron with a big forearm smash. After some more control it seems Lex is poised for victory over Vader, but it's Jimmy Hart who influcneces things by holding Lex's leg and letting Vader nail a corner splash before he quickly gets up and hits the Vader Bomb for the 3. (82/87/71) - We get a shot of the WWF champion Shawn Michaels heading to the ring. Lawler and JR say the contract signing is NEXT! (94%) - Eric Bischoff is presiding and reminds us that 2 weeks ago, Diesel won a match that granted him the right to choose the stipulation for his match with HBK at KOTR. He than asks us to welcome the #1 contender, Diesel! The fans erupt in booing as Diesel saunters out in his suit from earlier. Also notable is the man next to him... Sycho Sid! Sid is sporting some jeans and a jacket as JR wonders what the big man is doing there. Once in the ring Diesel gets a microphone as thanks Eric for the introduction. He says he's happy to see Bischoff appreciating him and giving Raw's biggest star his proper spot, the last segment on Raw! He let's us know that he's officially hired Sid as his personal bodyguard seeing as his last employer is incapacitated. He says that given the madness and anarchy that seems to rule Raw lately, a future world champion can never be too careful! Diesel than tells Eric that he'd like to introduce Shawn "For the last time on TV" as the WWF champion! HBK steps out in some street wear himself, the WWF title draped over his shoulder as he gives a cold glare at the giants in the ring. He seems totally focused, not playing it up like ususal as he enters the ring and heads towards the contract table where he takes a seat. Diesel asks if he has anything to say. Any witty one liners or catchy puns for the peons in attendance to laugh at. Michaels remains silent as Bischoff asks both men tot ake a seat and sign this deal. Shawn does so quickly and than pushes the contract towards Diesel. The challengers smiles and says HBK had signed away his title before signing as well. Bischoff held the contract up and made it official to the crowds enjoyment as Michaels got up and started to leave. Sid stood in his way though, talking some trash. HBK seemed to take the high road as he backed away... but than NAILED sweet chin music! Diesel grabbed his chair however and hit HBK right in the back. He quickly ripped the sheet cover the contract table off and than grabbed the stunned HBK before lifting him up and drilling him through the wood! The fans booed as Diesel grabbed the microphone and told HBK just one last things. At KOTR they would face off... in a Tables match! (96%) OVERALL - 83%

Nitro & Raw Present... The 1996 KING OF THE RING! - Before the PPV begins we get a special interview with 'Big Daddy Cool'. He's standing by flanked by Sid as he tells us that tonight, the boyhood dream ends. Tonight, the WWF witnesses the end of a proverbial era. He's going down the aisle, and he's going to do what he does best. Destroy men, break bodies and win titles. He apologizes for ruining Michaels title reign, but he needs that belt. He needs the fame, the glory and, of course, the money that comes with the gold! (85%) -We get a long video recap of both Raw and Nitro's action leading up to the King of the Ring Semifinals on each side - then we get videos focusing on tonight's two title matches as Shawn Michaels prepares to defend against Diesel and Ric Flair defends against 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage. -At the announce booth by the stage, Tony Shiavone & Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan are seated and welcome us to the show. They run down the Raw portion including their own King of the Ring semis, Razor Ramon vs. Sid, and Diesel vs. Shawn Michaels! - King Of The Ring Raw Semi-Finals: Owen Hart w/ British Bulldog & 'Loose Cannon' Brian Pillman vs. Johnny B. Badd Owen looks very confident as he heads to ringside with his entourage. Bulldog and Pillman's tension is strong though, as both men eye each other while Hart poses in the ring. Badd is out next, getting a nice pop as the TV champion slaps hands and fires his 'Badd Blaster' into the crowd. He gets seriosu enar the ring though as JR says this is one of the biggest nights in this young man's career, and it could just be the start! Owen controls things early as the veteran uses his crisp technique to control Badd with some trips as he starts wearing down Johnny's leg. The moves work as the high flyer is grounded with leglocks and even some timely interventions from Brian Pillman who happily trips up the TV champ. Owen seems well in ctrol, but Badd rallies the fans and escapes a leg grapevine. His momentum dies however when he's tripped up again by Bulldog and than eats an Enziguri that gets a long two. Owen follows up with a diving elbow and even pulls off a big missile dropkick. When he goes for the Sharpeshooter though, Badd pulls him into a tight cradle that almost steals the three. Hart is more cautious after this, and that tentative attitude leaves an opening for Badd who reverses a Northern lights Suplex with a big DDT. From here he takes over using his fast hands to batter Owen and following up a nice combo with a big atomic drop/clothesline. Pillman tries to get involved again, but Badd nails a big left hook that sends the Loose Cannon right back to ringside. Owen tries to use the distraction, but Badd sidesteps and tosses him out. Bulldog tries to help both men up at ringside and Badd heads off the ropes before hitting a flipping senton onto all three! Badd slowly crawls up and than rolls Owen into the ring. He heads up top and signals for the Wild Thing, but Owen just manage sto avoid the Shooting Star Press! As he recovers Pillman and Bulldog begin arguing at ringside. The two exchange shoves, with Pillman falling right on his ass. He gets up and tackles Bulldog into the steel steps and it's a donneybrook at ringside! Owen yells at his family and the distraction is costly as when he tries to pick-up the downed Badd he gets pulled into a tight small package for the three! Badd quickly escapes as Owen looks on shocked not only at his loss, but at the brawl at ringisde being broken up by security. (85/79/92) -WCW Nitro King of the Ring Semifinal Match: Marty Jannetty (w/Goldust & Marlena) vs. Jeff Jarrett (w/Woman): Jannetty seemed to be embracing his role as the 'star' of Goldust and Marlena's project more and more as the week's progress. He seemed to enjoy showing off for Goldust's camera. Jarrett quickly tried to send Jannetty back to reality as he took an early advantage in the match - but when Jarrett himself stopped to showboat for Goldust's camera - mockingly. But this gave Jannetty an opening and he took advantage - hitting Jarrett in the back with a dropkick. Jannetty took control of Jarrett - picking up a few nearfalls off of a swinging neckbreaker and a snap suplex that was followed up with a fistdrop. But Jarrett kept kicking out. Jarrett suck in a jawbreaker to Jannetty to slow the 'ultimate underdog' down. After a back suplex from Jarrett - Malena jumped on the apron to distract the referee! Jannetty was slowly getting to his feet as Goldust climbed into the ring with his camera. He attempted to hit Jarrett with the camera, but Jarrett ducked and Goldust nailed Jannetty! (75/76/74) King Of The Ring Raw Semi-Finals: Hunter Hearst Helmsley w/ Chyna vs. Billy Gunn w/ Bart Gunn It's the dark horse of the Raw bracket out first, as Billy looks more focus than ever. His brother Bart is pumping him up, shouting encouragement as Billy removes his long duster and hat. Out next is the snob HHH with his Amazon like 'Queen' Chyna. The blue blood looks more arrogant than ever as he keeps a close eye on Billy while Chyna rather provocatively removes his robe. HHH is on the attack early, tripping up Gunn and slapping him in a tight submission. JR wonders if Billy can handle his first solo effort at a PPV, and in the most prestigious tournament in Pro wrestling! He looks unable early on as HHH keeps him grounded and works his head over with some tight headlocks. Eventually Gunn gets to his feet and pushes off following up with a high impact Tilt-A-whirl slam! HHH is stunned by this as he starts eating piston like right hands from Gunn that back him into the corner. Billy follow up by whipping him across the ring before hitting a big corner splash! HHH stumbles out of the corner as Gunn lifts him into a full military press before dropping him hard! The blue blood rolls out of the ring after the move, clearly reeling as Billy feeds off the crowd. Chyna consoles her man as HHH tries to regain his bearings. Billy leaves the ring and the chase is on, but it works out of HHH as he gets in the ring first and stomps Gunn when he slides in. Taking control Hunter goes back to work on the neck of Billy as the tag champion with a blatant choke and some basic bare handed punches. Seeming to have regained control, the blue blood lifts Gunn and whips him off the ropes but Billy holds on. Hunter goes to attack but his opponent drops down and he instead stumbles over the top and out! Fuming at ringside Chyna tries to calm her man down as Billy calls him to bring it on. Hunter is up first as he grabs Billy and starts hooking up the pedigree, but Bilyl pushes him off and than manages ot hit a big swinging side slam! He than sginals for his Gunslinger move, but Chyna grabs him as he leans on the ropes! Bart intervenes at ringside but the distraction allows Hunter to get an eye poke and than an undetected low blow which he follows with the Pedigree for the three. Hunter makes a quick exit as he celebrates with Chyna while Bart checks on his brother. (78/75/82) -WCW Nitro King of the Ring Semifinal Match: 'The Pearl River Powerhouse' Ahmed Johnson vs. Steve 'Mongo' McMichael (w/Clarence Mason): No Debra tonight as it would be a violation of the restraining order for Johnson to be in the ring with Debra at ringside. Ahmed Johnson couldn't wait to get his hands on Mongo, and was all over him before Mongo could even enter the ring! Johnson had to be restrained by the ref to allow Mongo to regain his composure so the actual match could get underway. 'The Pearl River Powerhouse' used that power to dominate Mongo early in the match. But a distraction from Clarence Mason allowed Mongo to get in a sneak attack to Johnson and chop Johnson down to size. Once on the mat, Mongo began working over Ahmed's neck with some restholds including a chinlock that Johnson would eventually power his way out of with the support of the fans. Johnson rallied strong and began to stagger Mongo with a series of stiff right hands. Mongo fell out to ringside, where Clarence Mason tried to regroup Mongo. But Johnson followed Mongo to the outside...only to have Mongo cheapshot Johnson and toss him head first into the ring post! (84/77/92) 1-2-3 Kid vs. 'Portuguese Man O' War' Aldo Montoya Aldo is out first and he seems pretty nervous for probably the biggest match of his career. The Kid is far more cocky, smirking and almost laughing at his opponent as he heads to the ring. Once inside the Kid takes control early with his educated feet, kicking at Aldo and wearing the young upstart down. Montoya does manages to dodge one kick though and counters with a tight russian legsweep. He tries to follow up with a superkick, but the Kid dodges it and nails a big wheel kick of his own for a long 2. Kid follows up with a scoopslam and than a single leg crab. After an extended period of this Aldo gets the ropes but Kid is relentless, taking no chances after his embarrassing loss around a month ago. He hits some of his trademark legdrops and whips Aldo into the corner where he lights the youngster up with some more fancy footwork including topping it with a big spin kick. This gets a 2, but again Aldo kicks out. Montoya manages to fight back and evne hits a big superkick. He follows up by whipping Kid into the corner and lifting him up. The two men exchange rights on the top turnbuckle, but Kid gets the edge when he starts yanking at Aldo's mask, distracting him and letting him shove Montoya right off before he drills him with the 1-2-3 Kick for the three. Kid cleberates his win as Montya looks on, pulling at his mask and looking very frustrated to have blown his big chance tonight. Arn Anderson was preparing to go out and take care of Eddie Guerrero and keep the Untited States title right where it belongs. Jeff Jarrett had already taken care of one stepping stone and just had two more to go before he was crowned the King of the Ring. And if anyone should lay claim to being 'King of the Ring' - it should be a Horseman. And tonight, Flair assured us Jarrett would be crowned as such. (100%) -WCW United States Championship Match: Arn Anderson (c) (w/Woman) vs. Eddie Guerrero: Guerrero already held one victory over Arn Anderson in a non-title match at the end of last month. But now the belt was on the line, meaning Anderson was fully focused on walking out of King of the Ring with the United States Championship. Guerrero too, however, was focused on that goal of winning his first WCW gold. Guerrero looked solid early on, matching Anderson move for move and using his speed advantage to surprise Anderson on multiple occassions. But eventually Anderson would catch the speedy Guerrero and slam into his knee with a backbreaker the succeeded in slowing the Mexican star down. Anderson spent a good portion of the match keeping Guerrero grounded and wearing him down - but each pinfall attempt was unsuccessful as Guerrero kept kicking out. Anderson began to argue with the referee - accusing him of counting too slow. Guerrero began to recover, scoring a rollup on Anderson - but only got a two count. Guerrero found his second wind and had Anderson reeling before Anderson ducked to ringside to get a breather. But Guerrero came flying out of the ring with a plancha to Anderson which sent the crowd into a frenzy! Guerrero was slow to his feet himself, but he rolled Anderson back into the ring. Jarrett and Johnson started out slow, both men wanting to test the other one out. But Johnson came off the ropes and showed his power by taking Jarrett off his feet with a shoulderblock. Johnson stayed on the attack as he looked strong early against Jarrett. Ahmed Johnson laid out Jarrett with a brainbuster - but only got a two count. Woman did what she did best - and that's provide the distraction that let Jarrett weasel his way back into the match. Jarrett took control and eventually locked in a sleeperhold to Johnson that began to put the powerhouse out. The ref had to check in on Johnson - lifting his arm twice, only to have it fall to the mat. The third and final time that would have given the victory to Jarrett...saw Johnson's arm stay up! The crowd rallied as Johnson began to get back to his feet. A few back elbows from Johnson broke the hold. (82/84/78) -King Of The Ring Raw Finals: Johnny B. Badd vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley w/ Chyna Johnny B. Badd is out first, looking exhausted after his grueling bout with Owen Hart. JR notes his leg could still be in rough shape after his bout with Owen. Hunter looks a bit more fresh, his hair re-ponytailed as he saunters down the ramp with his 'Queen' Chyna. The two lock-up to start with HHH performing a nice flipping headlock takedown into a side headlock. He switches from this to the legs of Badd and slaps on a variation of the Indian deathlock as Lawler says that's why HHH is smart, he's attacking Badd's weakness. Hunter releases the hold and stomps the limb some more before dragging him to the ropes and using them for a seated senton onto the knee. Badd is in a bad away and it gets worse when HHH distracts the ref, allowing Chyna to cheap shot Badd's leg as well. After a few more minutes of leg work Badd manages to turn momentum when he avoids a chop block and hits a nice dropkick. He can't capitalize much though, hobbling a little as he fails to perform a bodyslam. The blue blood looks to add to the misery when he goes for a big backdrop but changes it into a knee breaker. He goes for a figure four from here, but Badd yanks him into a tight small package for two. Hunter quickly follows up with more leg stomps as he lifts up Badd and whips him into the corner. He works him over there and when he gets him down he starts stomping the knee again. He than drags him off before hitting a knee drop for two. After an extended period of legwork the blue blood finally sees his momentum de when Badd manages to counter a high knee attempt and than nails a huge left hook for two. He follows up with some more stinging jabs and whips Hunter into the corner. He manages to nail a big frankensteiner from here, but this time it's Hunter who manages to escape at 2. Badd hobbles to the top rope, but Chyna intervene. The distraction allows HHH the chance to shake the ropes and crotch his opponent. The American blue blood seems poised for victory but Badd somehow blocks a superplex attempt and than shoves Hunter off before hitting the Wild Thing! It took a lot out of him, but he manages to crawl over and gets the three to the crowd delight. Badd crawls out and hobbles up the ramp as JR says he's in the finals, but how much can he have left? (82/80/84) WWF Intercontinental Championship: Razor Ramon (c) vs. Sid Sid is out solo, with a determined look on his face. It seems his days as a 'Sycho' are toned down here. Next out is the IC champ, who gets a massive pop as he saunters to the ring to defend his gold. This one is ugly early as Razor throws his toothpick but Sid keeps his cool and the two lock-up with Sid overpowering his slightly shorter foe. The 2nd attempt yields the same but when they go to lock up again Razor sneaks behind and trips up Sid before batting at the back of his head to the crowds delight. Sid looks angry now and when they go for another lock-up he smacks a closed fist across the champions jaw before he starts wailing on him right big soupbones. He follows up with a big bodyslam as Lawler says Sid needs to stick to his power game here. Ramon tries to fight it off but a knee to the gut ends his momentum and Sid than tosses him into the corner, hitting some more knees and back elbows as he works over the champion. After an extended period of beating Razor mounts a comeback with some strong rights ended with a big spinning punch. Sid is reeling as Razor hits a big atomic drop before clotheslining Sid right out of the ring. The big man tries to recover outside, but Razor slides after him and the two start to brawl, with Sid using the ring barricade to slow Razor before he sends him hard into the steel steps, turning the match in his favor. Once back in the ring Sid nails a big side slam before he slaps on a bearhug. Razor feeds off the crowd and fights back with big rights and left, but his momentum is killed by a big boot which Sid follows up with a sleeper hold. More stalling as Razor gets back to his feet and gets Sid into the corner and impressively oto the top rope! He climbs after him and nails a big backdrop from the 2nd rope which almost nets him the three. Sid is in trouble and a desperation crossbody is reversed into a big time fallaway slam. Razor signals for the end, but Sid manages to backdrop his way out of a Razor's Edge. He than goes for a powerbomb himself, but Razor slips behind him and kicks his gut before finally hitting the Razor's Edge for the three. The fans cheer as Razor celebrates his big win over a marquee name here at the King Of The Ring! (83/88/72) -Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was standing by with 'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan along with The Faces of Fear. Okerlund wanted to get Sullivan's thoughts on having to step into the ring with such a scarey competitor like The Undertaker. Sullivan stated that he knew no fear - and was not afraid of The Undertaker. Sullivan said he could only iamge what 'fear' was like - as he himself had never felt fear. But true fear would be coming very soon for WCW. Sullivan said that when he was done with The Undertaker tonight - he would be under his every command. And that would mean the end of WCW as we knew it. WCW...prepare yourself to know what FEAR is all about. (65%) -The Undertaker (w/Paul Bearer) vs. 'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan: Surprisingly, Kevin Sullivan came down to the ring with none of the Faces of Fear by his side. Once the bell rang, the Taskmaster started hitting The Undertaker with a series of punches that were all no-sold by The Undertaker. The Undertaker continued to shake off Sullivan's offense before hitting The Taskmaster with a knee lift and then sending him into the ropes...BIG BOOT! This was looking like it was going to be a short match...but just as The Undertaker had Sullivan by the throat...The Giant made his way down from the back! Mabel climbed into the ring and joined in on the attack on The Undertaker. The Giant hit The Undertaker with a CHOKESLAM before Mabel came off the ropes with his BIG SPLASH! With The Undertaker laid out, Sullivan instructed Doomsday to bring Paul Bearer into the ring. Bearer was clutching onto The Undertaker's urn for dear life, but Sullivan pulled it away from him! Bearer cried out, but Doomsday restrained him. Sullivan grinned maliciously as he lifted the urn up in the air. The Giant finished Paul Bearer off with a Chokeslam! 'The Taskmaster' led the Faces of Fear away from the ring, stopping at the top of the aisle and turning to face the ring as...THE UNDERTAKER sat up. The Undertaker looked down at the fallen Paul Bearer...and then up the aisle to The Taskmaster, who held up the urn. The Undertaker snarled before dropping to a knee and bowing towards The Taskmaster and the urn! Sullivan grinned before turning and disappearing into the back along with the Faces of Fear. -Hulk Hogan, The Renegade, Lex Luger & Sting vs. The Dungeon of Doom (Vader, One Man Gang, The Shark & Meng) w/ Big Bossman Rogers, Hgh Morrus & Jimmy Hart Hogan's team is in full on Hulkamania mode here. The group come out in Red & Yellow colors to a big pop as they prepare for their big match here. The Dungeon, while only fighting with 4, is still an intimidating sight with all 6 members (And Jimmy Hart) stepping out looking ready for war. The match starts with OMG and Sting as the duo go back and forth before Sting starts to get control. A eye rake allows the tag out to the Shark and he seems to fare better before Lex is tagged in. After some brawling Luger gets his power spot of the match in, hitting an impressive suplex on the Shark. Sting is in now but makes a mistake against the Shark, allowing the big man to hit a corner splash. He tags in vader next and the heels enjoy a period of domination as they beat the Stinger down in their corner, each taking turns on him. Eventually he manages to fight back, dodging the Tongan Death Grip and hitting a big reverse DDT before getting the hot tag to Hogan. The Hulkster starts levelling everyone and it turns into a donneybrook late. Eventually it's Meng and Hogan alone and the Samoan slaps on his dreaded Tongan Death Grip! But, feeding off the fans, Hogan starts to hulk up and breaks right out of the move! From here it's academic as we get three punches, a big boot, a legdrop and a win for Hogan and friends! (75/79/68) -The King of the Ring Finals: Johnny B. Badd vs. Jeff Jarrett (w/Woman): The two announce teams converge for this cross-promotional matchup as Jim Ross does the play by play and Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan does the color commentary. Both Badd and Jarrett were showing signs of fatigue from their previous matches in the night - but both wanted to be crowned the King of the Ring. Badd was clearly favoring his leg. They went back and forth early, exchanging hold for hold - which only managed to frustrate the exhausted Jarrett. Jarrett's tough match against Ahmed Johnson definitely had him winded, which allowed Badd to get the upperhand. Badd showed off his strength as he lifted up Jarrett and held him up in the air for an extended period of time, allowing all the blood to flow to Jarrett's head before dropping him with the suplex. Badd picked up a few nearfalls before climbing to the top rope and going for the Wild Thing...but Jarrett got his knees up at the last second! Badd was winded from the shot, allowing Jarrett to work his way back to his feet. Jarrett slowed things down as he took control and worked over Badd's already weakened legs! Badd rallied the fans as he pointed to the top turnbuckle once again...he was going to attempt the Wild Thing once again! The crowd were on their feet as Badd SLOWLY made the long climb up the turnbuckle on his unstable legs...but Woman was up on the apron! As she distracted the referee, Jerry 'The King' Lawler had come to ringside. Lawler jumped on the apron and shoved Badd off the top rope to the mat! Lawler jumped back down as Woman too climbed off the apron. Jarrett stumbled to his feet as Badd was trying to get back up...TENNESSEE LEGSWEEP! (79/81/78) Tables Match: WWF World Championship: 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels (c) vs. 'Big Daddy Cool' Diesel w/ Sid Diesel is out first as he has a somewhat staggered Sid following him. He soaks in some massive heat, but the pop for the champion trumps that as out he steps in some jeans and a t-shirt, clearly ready for a fight. The announcers go over the rules, simply stating that the winner is whoever can put their opponent through a table with an offensive move. The ring is surrounded by some tables, as JR says this is one of wrestling's most dangerous matches. HBK fires off right out of the gate, running past Diesel and hitting a suicide dive into Sid! The bodyguard is stunned as HBK wails on him with rights and lefts before sending him crashing into the steps. Diesel is finally out now, but he's kicked in the gut before Michaels drops him with a DDT to the floor! HBK focuses back on Sid as he drags him to his feet and hits a blatant low blow. Shawn is in pain as Big Daddy Cool scoops him up and rolls him back into the squared circle. He than grabs one of the ringside tables, toppling it over and folding the legs up before sliding it into the ring. The big man follows and once inside stomps on Michael's back some more. After arrogantly facewashing him with his boot, Diesel lifts HBK and drives him into the corner where he hits some back elbows, posing before his last to big crowd heat. Diesel keeps working Shawn over as the champion sees his rally's all fail with the challenger even avoiding the dreaded flying forearm. Eventually Diesel sets the table up in the middle of the ring, signaling for the end as he gets HBK in position for a Jacknife. The champion manages to impressively reverse however when he rolls through and than hits his flying forearm smash! The fans cheer as the champion sturggles... than kips up! He starts tuning up the band, but when he goes for Sweet Chin Music Diesel counters by grabbing his foot and throwing it down before kickin ghis gut... he nails the Jacknife! The fans boo as Diesel tries to shake the cobwebs. He tries for a pin, but than realizes the stipulations, cursing to himself. He struggles to lift the dazed champion, but manages to finally get him set up for another Jacknife. HBK was playing possum though, as he manages to counter the move with a big backdrop that sends Diesel through the table! The fans cheer, as HBK is on his knees, somehow world champion, but under perhaps more lucky than skill! (92/100/76) -WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match: 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair (w/Woman) vs. 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage: Thus far it had been a pretty successful night for the Horsemen - Anderson was still the United States Champion and Jeff Jarrett had won the King of the Ring - could Flair cap off the night by retaining the WCW Title against Randy Savage? Not if Savage had anything to say about it. Savage was as intense as ever as he squared off against Flair, taking it to the champion from the opening bell. Savage was so overwhelming early on, that Flair had to duck to ringside to try and regain his composure. But Savage followed Flair to the outside, not interested in giving the champion any breathing room whatsoever. The two brawled on the outside as the referee was counting both men out. Savage finally sent Flair back into the ring before a countout could be reached. Savage followed suit, but as he climbed into the ring he found Flair pleading on his knees for mercy. But when Savage walked in closer, Flair leaped up with a poke to Savage's eyes! The ref warned Flair, but Flair ignored him and continued on the attack. Flair lit up Savage's chest with several stiff knife edge chops before scooping Savage up and slamming him to the mat. Flair immedaitely went to work on Savage's legs to set him up for an eventual Figure Four. Flair repeatedly slammed Savage's knees into the mat as well as dropping a few kneedrops onto Savage's knees as well. The champion continued on the attack to Savage as the crowd kept cheering Savage on - fueling him up for a comeback. Flair would attempt the Figure Four - only to have Savage counter it with a small package cradle that got a two count. Savage began to furiously mount a comeback on Flair - rocking him with rights and lefts as he got to his feet. Savage had Flair reeling after an atomic drop before laying him out with a running lariat. Savage picked up a nearfall on the champion after a hangman's neckbreaker, but Flair scored a back kick to Savage's groin that went undetected by the ref. That sent a huge wave of boos through the crowd as Flair retook control. A frustrated Flair slammed several closed fists to Savage's forehead before being pulled off by the referee. Flair shoved the referee aside, not afraid of being DQ'd and went back on the attack. Flair grabbed Savage's legs and tied him up in the Figure Four! Would Savage's championship dreams come to a halt here! Savage was frantically shaking his head 'no' as the referee checked in on him. Savage inched his way to the ropes and finally grabbed the bottom rope. The referee tried to break up the hold - but Flair refused! Flair was yelling "DISQUALIFY ME" - daring the ref to make the five count and call for the bell. The ref didn't have much of a choice...but when he got to four...Savage let go of the ropes! Not wanting to win by DQ, Savage chose to stay locked in the Figure Four! Savage inched his way away from the ropes...giving himself enough room to begin to try and turn the hold over! Flair fought against it, but Savage finally rolled the move over! Flair quickly freed himself from the leglock once Savage had the hold turned over. Savage had exhausted so much enery being trapped in the Figure Four, he could barely pull himself to his feet - allowing Flair to continue on the offensive attack! Flair sent Savage into the ropes and lit him up with some more chops! But suddenly Savage seemed to absorb the chops...Savage's eyes had grown wild with 'madness' as the crowd went wild. Savage fired back with some chops of his own before taking Flair down with a clothesline! Savage dropped an axe-handle down onto Flair's back before setting Flair up for a piledriver...but Flair hit a backdrop to counter! Flair dropped to a knee and waved to the back - presumably signaling to the Horsemen! Flair was looking for any way out of this match that he could find - and a DQ would not phase him. But Flair was confused as no one came down from the back. Flair gave a confused look over to Woman, who shrugged her shoulders. She sent Woman to the back to get the Horsemen, meanwhile Flair went back on the attack. After a snapmare, Flair went for a diving kneedrop, but Savage rolled out of the way! Savage was back up to his feet...bodyslam to Flair! Savage pulled Flair back to his feet and this time was able to execute the PILEDRIVER! Savage slowly got to his feet and headed to the top turnbuckle. Everyone in the crowd were on their feet as Savage soaked in their cheers before leaping off the turnbuckles...FLYING ELBOW right to Flair's heart! Savage hooked the leg - ONE, TWO, THREE! Randy Savage has won the WCW World Championship! (93/97/85) -Randy Savage could barely stand on his own two feet as the referee lifted up his arm and handed him the WCW World Title. Savage lifted the belt up as the crowd gave him a standing ovation. Tony Shiavone and Bobby Heenan wondered why the Horsemen did not answer Flair's call...The Brain said that for their own sake, he hoped they had a good excuse! But for now, it was Savage's moment. Savage continued to celebrate in the ring as the crowd cheered him on as the show came to a close. OVERALL - 84% Edited by Dubb, Feb 2 2012, 01:21 PM.

Thank goodness Jarrett won. I hate Marc Mero and was disappointed to see Owen go down in the semis. Interesting data you must be using. Seeing Ahmed Johnson vs. Mongo get 92% quality is something else <_< |

WCW Monday Nitro May 27, 1996 Announcers: Tony Shiavone & Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan -Nitro opened with still photo highlights of Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair for the WCW World Title, a match that saw Savage defeat Flair to become the NEW WCW World Heavyweight Champion. -Kicking Nitro off was the former champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair coming down to the ring to a plethora of boos alongside The Four Horsemen minus the winner of the King of the Ring, Jeff Jarrett. Flair climbed into the ring and took the microphone - Flair said that last night at King of the Ring, many people wondered where the Horsemen were to answer his call. Flair said that, he of course, was the one asking that question the most. But as you can see, all is well in the Horsemen - because there was one man responsible for keeping the Horseman at bay last night...and Flair had the backstage security footage to prove it. -Black and white security footage aired that showed Eddie Guerrero walking by the Horsemen locker room. Guerrero stared at the doors briefly before heading off screen. Some machinery noises are heard off screen before Guerrero drove back into the shot on a forklift! Guerrero parked the forklift infront of the doors of the dressing room! Guerrero dusted off his hands as he jumped out of the forklift, just as the door started trying to open. Screams from Arn Anderson could be heard as they tried unsuccessfully to get out of the dressing room to make the save for Flair in the ring. -Back in the ring, Flair was livid. He said that it was UNACCEPTABLE that he left King of the Ring without the WCW title...and that he was holding one man and one man alone responsible for that travesty. And that was EDDIE GUERRERO! So tonight, Flair was going to take out his frustrations on Guerrero HIMSELF. Flair announced that the Championship Committee's Nitro appointed 'commissioner' had authorized Flair vs. Guerrero tonight! Flair said that last time he was in the ring with Guerrero, Guerrero was fortunate enough to only lose by countout...but tonight, he'd be leaving in a STRETCHER. WOOO! (95%) -The Steiner Brothers vs. Public Enemy: The former tag champs Rick and Scott Steiner stepped in the ring tonight to face off against the team that basically cost them the WCW Tag Titles to Harlem Heat after their vicious table assault. But as Tony Shiavone explained, Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge were also looking to make a statement in the tag division tonight - and picking up a victory over the former champions would certainly do just that. Their trademark table was set at ringside - and during the match we had a few teases of competitors falling through the table off the apron - but it never came to be. Public Enemy held their own against the former champions, but soon Rick Steiner was getting the hot tag and momentum seemed to be in favor of the former champs. That is until Booker T and Stevie Ray ran down to the ring and interrupted the match! Booker T and Stevie Ray jumped all over Rick and Scott in the ring - drawing a disqualification in favor of the Steiner Brothers. (77/74/81) -After the match, Booker T and Stevie Ray did a number on Rick and Scott - leaving them lying on the mat. But as Grunge and Rock recovered, they confronted Stevie and Booker! A shoving match ensued, as Grunge and Rock seemed to take exception to Harlem Heat interrupting their match and ruining their chances of getting a huge victory. Before it could escolate any further, Booker T and Stevie Ray left the ring as Grunge and Rock were beside themselves in the ring. -Backstage, Goldust and Marlena were trying to calm down Marty Jannetty. Jannetty was uspet about how things went down at King of the Ring - blaming Goldust and Marlena for his loss. Goldust said that they were just as upset - because all that footage he had of Jannetty's heroic journey through the King of the Ring was wasted when he lost. BUT - Goldust had a new idea. How did CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD sound to Jannetty. Marty cooled his jets and said that he was listening. Goldust explained that up next there was a 10 man cruiserweight battle royal...with the winner earning a shot at the WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Dean Malenko. Jannetty seemed to approved, and nodded his head. "WELL GET OUT THERE" Goldust exclaimed, giving Jannetty a pat on the butt as he headed out of the locker room. "GO GET EM TIGER" Goldust yelled out as we went to break. -Cruiserweight Battle Royal (Marty Jannetty, Rey Mysterio, Taka Michinoku, Ultimo Dragon, Billy Kidman, Alex Wright, Chavo Guerrero, Juventud Guerrera, Devon Storm, and Tu Caliente) "The Professor" Mike Tenay joined the boys at the booth to help call the action here. As Goldust revealed before the break - the winner here would be in line for a Cruiserweight Title shot. Tenay helped give us a background on some of the competitors in the battle royal who may be not well known to the WCW fan. Tenay of course revealed Chavo Guerrero was the nephew of Eddie Guerrero - and went over the accolades of Juventud Guerrera's Lucha Libre career. Devon Storm was sent packing early, before Tenay could give us much info on him. Tenay was puzzled, however, by Tu Caliente - who Tenay did not have any information on. Bobby Heenan seemed to take delight in seeing Tenay stumped for once. Tenay shot back, asking Heenan what he knew about him since he is 'The Brain' after all. Heenan said he knew Caliente was a big fan of burritos and salsa music. The match continued with Chavo, Juvi, Alex Wright, and Kidman all being eliminated. The masked 'luchadore' Tu Caliente grounded Rey Mysterio in the corner while Taka Michinoku and Ultimo Dragon teamed up to work over Jannetty. Jannetty tried to fight back, but soon found himself over the top rope at the hands of both Dragon and Michinoku! Jannetty voiced his frustration at ringside as he knocked over the ring steps and headed to the back. Action continued in the ring as our final four was Rey Mysterio, Taka Michinoku, Ultimo Dragon, and Tu Caliente. Caliente and Mysterio briefly joined forces to pair off against Michinoku and Dragon. Caliente had Michinoku against the ropes and was trying to eliminate him, but Michinoku was holding on for dear life. Meanwhile, Ultimo Dragon was down on all fours - trying to recover...as Rey ran off the ropes, springboarded off Dragon and hit a dropkick to Caliente and Michinoku that sent both men over the top rope to the floor! It was down to the acclaimed Japanese sensation Ultimo Dragon and the masked youngster Rey Mysterio! Rey and Dragon went back and forth with Dragon working over Rey with a variety of stiff kicks before lifting Rey up into powerbomb position. Dragon walked with Rey towards the ropes, but Rey held on as Dragon dropped him over the ropes! Rey looked to headscissor Dragon out of the ring, but Sony Oono reached in and held onto Dragon's feet to keep him from tumbling out of the ring with Mysterio! Dragon pulled Rey's legs free from around his neck and tossed his legs over the rope - sending Rey tumbling to the ground! Ultimo Dragon has won this cruiserweight battle royal and a shot at the Cruiserweight Title! (61/53/70) -Backstage, the 'King of the Ring' Jeff Jarrett was preparing for his big 'coronation' coming up in the show. However, Ric Flair walked into the room and wanted a moment of Jarrett's time. Flair understood that Jarrett was new to the Horsemen, but Flair wanted to lay down the law. He wanted an explaination as to why Jarrett did not join them in the ring earlier in the night. The Horsemen are a UNIT and where one goes, they all go. Jarrett apologized, 'Sorry, boss' - and explained he was so busy getting ready for his coronation, that he forgot all about their little security footage showcase. Flair shook his head and said to not let it happen again. He then gave Jarrett a pat on the shoulder and said that he was 'proud' of Jarrett last night. Jarrett thanked Flair and they shook hands as we headed to break. (87%) Phineous Godwin vs. The Undertaker (w/'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan): The Taskmaster, now holding the urn in his possession finally, led the master of the darkness - The Undertaker down to the ring to boos from the audience. The crowd was pleading with Taker to not follow Taskmaster's orders - but Taker paid the fans no mind. Phineous Godwin was the unlucky lamb to slaughter tonight. This one barely lasted over a minute as Godwin attempted some offense early that was completely no sold by The Undertaker. A big boot and a chokeslam were followed up with the Tombstone Piledriver. Taker crossed Godwin's arms and got the easy pinfall victory. (68/71/62) -After the match, The Taskmaster ordered more destruction. Undertaker obeyed as he lifted Phineous up and hit a SECOND tombstone! Taskmaster gave a sinister grin as Tony Shiavone worried about what this meant for the rest of WCW with the Undertaker under The Taskmaster's command. -After a break, the ring was set up with red carpet and a throne as Jeff Jarrett made his way down to the ring to louds boos from the crowd. Jarrett thanked his audience for their love as their new KING. Jarrett first wanted to thank Jerry Lawler for the role he played in making this all possible. Jarrett called it an HONOR to have one King from Tennessee helping out the new King from Tennessee. Jarrett called it a 'passing of the torch' from one King to another. Jarrett revealed that as the winner of the King of the Ring - it entitled him to a title shot at Nitro's next Pay-Per-View, Bash at the Beach. Jarrett said that, with all due respect to his gracious leader Ric Flair, it would cause him no more pleasure than to take the title off Randy Savage himself! "Pomp and Circumstance" hit the PA system, bringing the crowd to their feet as WCW World Champion "The Macho Man" Randy Savage made his way down to the ring with the title around his waist. Savage climbed into the ring and glanced around at the set up and congratulated Jarrett on whatever all this meant. Savage then pointed to the title that HE took off JARRETT's leader Ric Flair last night and explained that Savage had some success of his own last night. Jarrett ignored Savage's comments, and asked Macho Man about formerly being known as the MACHO KING. Jarrett wanted to know what happened...when did he go from KING to just a regular...puny man. Jarrett said that now he was the KING of WCW...Hell, of WRESTLING. And no mere MAN like Randy Savage would stop him from ruling with an iron fist. Jarrett said that IF Savage was lucky enough to hold onto that belt until Bash at the Beach - he could kiss that baby goodbye then. Jarrett shoved past Savage and headed up the aisle as Savage was left alone in the ring. Savage took the microphone back and confirmed he WOULD still be champion then and had was looking forward to giving Jarrett the butt kicking that was coming to him. OOOOOHHHHHH YEAH! (87%) -Ahmed Johnson vs. Steve 'Mongo' McMichael (w/Clarence Mason): In yet another matchup of these two powerhouses - they once again surprise us by putting on a great brawl. These two just gel well together and WCW is certainly milking their chemistry into as many good matches as possible, and it's helping get both of them over with the crowd. Mongo, in particular, appears to be getting a bigger heel reaction each week. Mongo kept working over Ahmed's trunklike legs to keep the muscular Johnson on the mat, but eventually Ahmed began to power his way back into the match. Ahmed seemed to have the momentum that would take him to another victory over Mongo - but as he set up Mongo for the Pearl River Plunge - Johnson was attacked from behind! A huge beast of a man had attacked Johnson! The beast lifted up Ahmed into big powerslam before hitting a running slam to Johnson! Mongo smiled as Clarence Mason climbed into the ring with Mongo. Clarence shook hands with the black mammoth as Mongo climbed the turnbuckles in celebration - despite losing by disqualification. (86/79/94) -After the commercial break, "Mean" Gene Okerlund was standing by with Steve McMichaels and his entourage. Mean Gene wanted to know who this mastodon of a man was that just left Ahmed Johnson in a pile on the mat. Before answering the question, Mongo had to give a long winded explaination of how as Superbowl Champion and world class athlete like himself - his attorney Clarence Mason has advised him that he should have a little insurance protection. That's why Mongo went out and found himself a bodyguard. And not just any bodyguard - this is Mark Henry - a former OLYMPIC athelete where he earned the name "The World's Strongest Man" in weight lifting competition! This is the kind of man Mongo needed on his side. Mongo patted Henry on the chest and explained that no one would dare mess with him anymore with this kind of protection on his side. (77%) "The Belfast Bruiser" Fit Finlay vs. Disco Inferno: Finlay was looking for a fight tonight, and Disco was the unfortunate one who had to step into the ring with him. Disco got in limited offense against the Irishman who unloaded some stiff offense to Disco before finishing him with the Celtic Driver. Finlay with a dominant performance on Disco. (72/69/76) -After the match Lord Steven Regal emerged from the back with Earl Robert Eaton and Squire David Taylor behind him. Finlay spotted them immediately, and challenged Regal to step into the ring with him. Regal started to head to the ring, but stopped in his tracks and ten ordered the Blue Bloods to go instead! Eaton and Taylor rushed the ring, only to get met with a pair of right hands from Finlay! Eaton rolled back to his feet...LARIAT from Finlay! Taylor was up next...Scoop and a slam! Taylor and Eaton both rolled out of the ring, selling their attack while Regal thought twice about climbing the apron. Instead, Regal backed his way up the aisle as Eaton and Taylor scurried up the ramp to join him. Finlay stared them down from the ring as we headed to break. MAIN EVENT: Eddie Guerrero vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair (w/Woman) In a rematch from last week's Nitro - Eddie Guerrero continues to get a rub from some of the top names here in WCW as he squared off against Flair. This time the duo put on an outstanding back and forth match that lasted nearly ten minutes of solid action. Flair was looking to make an example out of Guerrero, but Guerrero came prepared to fight. Guerrero hung tough with Flair, but eventually the dirties player in the game used some of his dirty tactics to get the upperhand on Guerrero. Flair then turned his attention to Guerrero's knees as he tried to soften him up for the Figure Four. But when Flair would eventually go for the Figure Four - Guerrero countered with a small package cradle for a two count. The crowd was solidly behind Guerrero as the latino was getting some of the biggest face reactions of his career. A monkeyflip out of the corner took Flair down, but also had Guerrero slow to his feet, favoring his knee. But Guerrero recovered and went back on the attack, grabbing Flair from behind as he recovered and hitting a German Suplex! Guerrero was unable to hold the bridge, but rolled over to make the cover - One, Two, Th...kickout by Flair! Guerrero would eventually go for a brainbuster, but Flair slipped out and then dropped to Guerrero's legs with a chopblock! Guerrero hit the mat, holding his knee in pain as Flair went back to work. Flair once again went for the Figure Four, only to have Guerrero shove him off by his boot. But Flair collided with the referee! Flair stumbled back into Guerrero who gave Flair a boot to the midsection and then dropped Flair with a Tornado DDT! Guerrero rolled to his feet and pointed to the top turnbuckle, signaling for the FROG SPLASH! Could Guerrero pull off the upset for his biggest victory of his career! As he set himself up for the Frog Splash...ARN ANDERSON came down to the ring and shoved Guerrero off the top rope to the canvas! Anderson climbed into the ring and as Guerrero pulled himself up, Anderson pulled him in...SPINEBUSTER to Guerrero! The crowd booed loudly as the referee was shaking away his cobwebs just as Anderson climbed out of the ring. Flair rolled over and made the cover - One, Two, Three! (93/92/95) -Flair got to his feet on the mat as Chris Benoit and Jeff Jarrett hit the ring as well. Flair could be heard yelling to 'make an example' out of Guerrero. Benoit and Jarrett both put the boots to Guerrero...but out came "The Macho Man" Randy Savage and he was armed with a chair! Flair and Jarrett both left the ring immediately as Benoit was met with a shot from the chair! Anderson was trying to exit the ring, but was caught on the back with the chair, sending him to the ground! Flair and Jarrett both were arguing with one another at ringside about the other running away. But in the ring it was the new WCW Champion standing tall, helping Eddie Guerrero up to his feet as the show came to a close! OVERALL - 81% Edited by Dubb, Feb 10 2012, 02:16 PM.

Tuesday Night Raw May 28th, 1996 Announcers: Jim Ross & Ted DiBiase - Out show opens with the laughter of Ted DiBiase, who says that tonight we are in for some surprises, starting with his new job as the 'voice' of Raw! JR says last night was controvertial, and in the ring right now to talk about that is Eric Bischoff! The WCW representative is in the ring and says that tonight should have been a celebration. Tonight the Raw brand could have been crowning the King of the Ring title to Johnny B. Badd. They should be celebrating a brand new time slot, and a brand new show on Saturday Night's! Instead, he's forced to come out and let us know that the selfish acts of Jerry Lawler has cost Raw a real crown jewel! That's why he is banning Jerry lawler from commentary, and is damn tempted to outright fire him! Bischoff is interrupted by 'The King' who steps out looking mad. He has a mic and asks Bischoff if he's done. He asks Eric if the 'puppet' of the WCW board is finished. He says that he did the entire world a favor last night when he knocked that punk Badd out! Johnny B. Badd isn't Raw. He's a WCW poster boy! He's an outsider, and he doesn't belong in the 'King's court'! He tells Bischoff that he might have the peon's in the crowd fooled, but not him. He can see the writting on the wall! The WCW Board of Directors don't want the WWF boys to suceed! They are holding people like him back! Bischoff says that's outrageous. The semi-finals for Raw had Owen Hart, HHH & Billy Gunn... all former WWF employees. Lawler laughs it off and says it was Badd who got to the finals and he knows it's just a matter of time before we start seeing the WCW element creeping onto Raw and taking over! The ranting of Lawler is interrupted now by the TV champion, Johnny B. Badd. Badd says he's sick of the King's paranoia. He earned his shots fair and square, and if it wasn't for Lawler the King of WCW would be on Tuesday nights! Lawler says the real King is already here, and at least Jarrett is 'One of his own' and not an outsider! Lawler claims Bischoff is in on the conspiracy, but Eric says enough. If Lawler wants a shot so bad, he'll get it. In fact, it'll be a title shot on PPV... a TV title shot against Johnny B. Badd! Lawler looks pleased and exits as Badd talks some trash as our opening segment ends. (76) - Justin 'The Hawk' Bradshaw & Dr. Tom Pritchard vs. The Road Warriors This match was set up last week, and ran like most have so far. Bradshaw did the heavy lifting with the fitness 'expert' only stepping in when things were firmly in control. Eventually his refusal to engage the warriors saw the veterans get a leg up and eventually put Bradshaw away with the Doomsday Device. After another loss Pritchard berated Bradshaw. After a verbal lashing he even slapped the big texan! Being pushed too far, Bradshaw retaliated with a vicious clothesline, much to the crowd delight! (72, 80, 81) - The Dungeon of Doom step out now, as Jimmy Hart has the mic. He the KOTR was a failiure. It was a embaressment to his orginization. That's why changes need to be made. He needs to cut out the weak links. He starts walking down the line of members. Stopping near Hugh Morrus, than going on to Bossman Rogers. He even stops by the 'Mastadon' Vader before settling on Meng. He says the Meng was the man who got pinned. Meng was the stupid 'savage' who let him down. And Meng, if he could even understand him... was a loser! Meng actually spoke now, telling Hart that it was his fault they lost. He screwed up, and Meng is no savage... unless you push him! Hart chuckles and says to prepare to be 'pushed' and on cue the rest of the Doomers attack! Meng fights hard, even getting OMG into the Tongan death Grip before the numbers are too much and he's beaten down and left out in the ring. (64) - After a break we see WWF champion Shawn Michaels arriving. He looks a little battered, but is in good spirits as he signs an autograph in the parking lot. The good times end though when he's blindsided by Diesel and Sid! The twin towers start beating Michaels down as Diesel says it 'isn't over' and he 'got lucky'. After a thorough beating Sid tops things off by drilling HBK onto a car hood with a powerbomb before the two big men walk off, satisfied with their handiwork. (90) - Hunter Hearst Helmsely w/ Chyna vs. Savio Vega After an impressive showing on PPV, HHH looks fired up here as these two have a tigh contest. Vega hangs tough, but ultimately it's the distraction of Chyna that leaves the opening that Hunter needs. After tripping him up as he prepared for a Carribean Kick Hunter psicks his spot and hits a big knee to the face before drilling a Pedigree for the three. Not done yet, HHH and Chyna look to add more pain when Savio's good friend Razor ramon rushes out, chasing them off as he checks on his downed ally. (65, 72, 74) - After the break we are backstage where Todd Petingill asks Razor what was up with him running in to save Savio? Razor says that Vega is his good friend from back on the 'islands'. But more than that, he was tired of seeing a punk snob like HHH and his 'girl' friend try to bully people. He tells Hunter he isn't afraid of him or his lady, and if he's got a problem with the bad guy he can bring it next week live on Raw! (92) Diamond Dallas Page, Irwin R. Schyster & Kama vs. Brutus Beefcake & The Smoking Gunns W/ Kimberly IRS & Kama get a good hype from DiBiase and JR says that the Gunns have some dnagerous contenders in the two. He also says things are far from over between DDP and Brutus, as excentuated by DDP blowing a loving kiss to Kim before the match begins. It's an ok affair with the heel team isolating a tired Billy Gunn, who had a rough match in the Semi-Finals last night. Eventually the Gunn boy manages to fight out and makes a hot tag to Brutus, who steps in and starts laying in rights and lefts on anything that moves. After a few more minutes of back and forth the end comes with Beefcake setting up for his 'Final Cut' stunner, but DDP pushes out. Beefcake has to stop himself from accidently hitting Kimberly on the apron, but the distraction allows DDP the chance to nail a Diamond Cutter and get one up on his rival. (63, 68, 74) - Backstage again, and Todd is with Diesel & Sid. Diesel says that he's just reminding Shawn that he has his 'number' and he can take him out whenever he wants. In fact, he'll be taking him out at the Great American Bash after he disposes of the 'Hulkamaniac' in tonights #1 contenders bout. Diesel adds that Hogan's time is long done and he should step aside to let a real man like Big Daddy Cool get his deserved shot. With that he walks off, Sid faking out Todd for fun as the towers head to the ring. (95) - We are in the Hart Foundation locker room now as Bulldog and Pillman are in a shouting match, Owen Hart playing peace keeper. He tells both men he's had enough. He's sick of their arguing. The bitterness they share cost him a chance to become the first two time King of the Ring! But he's got a solution. He's got a fullproof plan to solve the men's problems. Gold! Bulldog asks what he means as Owen says he's gotten the two of them a tag title match next week on Raw! Bulldog says that's good. Owen and him are a great team, and adding more gold could take some tension away. Pillman cuts in, saying that Bulldog must be stupider than he though! Clearly Owen meant that him and Owen would be picking up the tag gold. Who better to team with than Brian Pillman? As the two argue Owen says that he's not teaming with EITHER of them. No, it'll be the Smoking Gunns against the British Bulldog... and Brian Pillman! Satisfied with apparently solving his problems, Owen walks off as Bulldog and Pillman share an angry stare. (88) #1 Contendership 'Big Daddy Cool' Diesel w/ Sid vs. 'The Immortal' Hulk Hogan The fans are red hot for this shocking solid bout. Hogan brought his work boots and the two start the match with a wild brawl. Beating away at each other the two stumble right out of the ring where Hogan is sent hard into the steel guardrail before being rolled back into the ring. Once there Diesel takes over with some stomping, punching and rest holds. Hogan eventually starts to comeback, powered by the fans and his good friend Lex Luger at ringside. He fights out of a side headlock, but after going off the ropes Diesel nearly takes his head off with a big boot. He than mockingly hits a legdrop, but Hogan kicks out and he seems pissed! No Hulking up as Hogan just starts hitting big right hands and lefts before nailing a bodyslam. Diesel is reelingg as Hogan sends him over the top with a lariat and he's forced to take a huddle at ringside with his bodyguard Sid. Hulk isn't waiting though, exiting the ring and hitting both big men with right hands before rolling Diesel into the ring. He goes to follow, but Sid trips him up. Hogan points at him, but the distraction let's Diesel roll Hogan up and grab a handful of tights to steal the three! Sid slides in as the two men prepare to give Hogan a beating, but out steps HBK with a steel chair! He runs full speed as Diesel and Sid quickly exit, wanting no part of the crazed lookign WWF champion. (81, 96, 79) - As the twin towers head up the ramp, they stop halfway when Eric Bischoff steps out and says that next week he's booking a huge tag match, It'll be Sid & Diesel against Hulk Hogan... and Shawn Michaels! The fans are thrilled as our show ends with HBK and Hogan posing to the crowds delight. (83) OVERALL - 79% |

WCW Saturday Night June 1, 1996 Announcers: Mike Tenay & 'Mr. Perfect' Curt Hennig -The new two hour wrestling block on TBS Saturday Night would feature WCW Saturday Night the first hour, and WWF's Superstars in hour 2. 'The Professor' Mike Tenay & 'Mr. Perfect' Curt Hennig welcomed us to the return of WCW Saturday. In tonight's main event, willy veteran Jake 'The Snake' Roberts would be going up against the 7 foot Giant! -Tu Caliente vs. Devon Storm: The crowd wasn't sure what to make of either of these men who they had seen earlier in the week in the cruiserweight battle royal. Tenay hyped WCW's attempt to revitalize Cruiserweight wrestling - but once again was dumbfounded in terms of where Tu Caliente came from. All his research of Lucha Libre did not come up with any such wrestler. Caliente befuddled Devon Storm in the ring as well. The duo went back and forth early before Caliente grounded Storm. Tu Caliente's style was also unorthodox from the normal luchadore, as he wasn't as high pace and certainly wasn't throwing caution to the wind like most luchadores. Instead he was more brawl oriented - eventually putting Storm away with a DDT that set up a flying Guillotine Legdrop to pick up the three count victory! Tu Caliente scored his first singles victory in WCW action - whoever he is. (59/44/75) -The Bushwackers vs. The Blue Bloods (w/Lord Steven Regal): Prior to the match, we got a recap of Nitro that saw Fit Finlay taking out both members of the Blue Bloods singled handedly, while Lord Steven Regal elected to stay out of harm's way. Tonight, Regal's minions were up against the zany Bushwackers. The match wasn't the prettiest - as Luke and Butch were as sloppy as ever in the ring. But they worked the crowd long enough to make it 'interesting' before The Blue Bloods used a distraction from Regal that allowed Squire David Taylor to utilize a pair of brass knuckles to knock out Luke and pick up the three count decision! (64/61/67) -Backstage, "Mean" Gene Okerlund was standing by with a man who would be facing a huge challenge in tonight's main event, Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Okerlund built up Snake as an accomplished veteran in this industry, and Roberts thanked Okerlund for the kind words. Roberts said that it had been a long career for him and he was certainly thankful for all his succees. Roberts said that recently he had some challenges in his life that he had to overcome in order to get back into the ring - challenges much bigger than even The Giant. That's why Roberts said he was not worried about facing off against a 7 foot monster like The Giant tonight, because he had already defeated something much scarier. He's back and though he may be getting old - he feels like a new man. He feels like this is the start of a new career for 'The Snake' and it was time to strike back! (80%) -Billy Kidman vs. Konnan: Mexico's 'champion' Konnan came out the 'Mexican Heavyweight Title' as he so deemed it, though Tenay mentioned it was the title from the top promotion in Mexico - AAA, where Konnan was indeed their champion. Tenay explained that Konnan had been busy fulfilling obligations as AAA Champion recently and has been absent from WCW television. But Konnan was back in action tonight against the young cruiserweight Billy Kidman. Konnan wasn't interested in playing games with Kidman, and quickly grounded the high flyer and made the match more his 'speed.' Konnan dominated most of the match, but Kidman started to battle back near the end. But when Kidman went to the top rope, Konnan pulled his legs out from under him - sending Kidman crotch first across the turnbuckles. Konnan hit a superplex to Kidman that laid both men out. Konnan slowly pulled himself up and locked on the Tequila Sunrise to make Kidman tap out! A strong showing by the "Mexican Heavyweight Champion." (67/57/77) -A pre-taped vignette focused on Goldust as he explained how he had spent a lot of time putting focus on Marty Jannetty - but he doesn't want anyone to forget who the true star is. Goldust is an A-Lister, and it was time for him to step back into the ring to make sure no one forgets the name...GOLDUST. (79%) -'Das Wunderkind' Alex Wright vs. Goldust (w/Marlena): Goldust stepped into the ring tonight to take on the young German Alex Wright. Goldust seemed impressed with Wright's dance moves - perhaps Goldust will find himself a new muse? Maybe not - as Goldust quickly stopped Wright's dancing with a boot to the midsection and took control. Goldust would eventually go for the Shattered Dreams, but the referee stepped in to save Wright - threatening a DQ. Wright freed himself from the turnbuckles and began to mount a brief comeback against Wright, until Marlena distracted the referee long enough for Goldust to hit a low blow to Wright. Goldust finished Wright off with the Curtain Call and picked up the three count victory. (70/70/71) -Backstage, "Mean" Gene Okerlund was with the WCW World Champion 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and Eddie Guerrero. Savage said that he had a lot of respect for the fight Eddie Guerrero had in him, and he couldn't sit by on Monday night and watch the Four Horsemen try and punish him for simply evening the playing field at King of the Ring. Savage couldn't thank Guerrero enough for having his back last Sunday - so he had his back on Monday. Guerrero thanked Randy, but both knew that this thing with the Horsemen was far from over. Savage revealed that THIS Monday on Nitro, he would be teaming up with Eddie Guerrero to take on Ric Flair and Arn Anderson! (85%) -MAIN EVENT: Jake 'The Snake' Roberts vs. The Giant (w/'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan): Still feeling on top of the world after acquiring the power of The Undertaker, Kevin Sullivan was feeling as sadistic as ever tonight as he led one of his other monsters into battle against the reformed and revitalized Jake The Snake. Roberts put up a Hell of a fight against The Giant, showing that he still had something left in the gas tank after all. But The Giant's huge size and power quickly gave him the upperhand. But no matter what The Giant dished out to Roberts, the Snake kept climbing back to his feet and going back for more! A giant headbutt from the monster laid out Roberts - but only for a two count. Giant continued to demonstrate his strength as he lifted Roberts up into a military press, only to have Roberts escape down his back! A couple stomps to the back of the Giant's leg started to slow the big man down. Roberts hit a few right hands to the staggering Giant before taking him by the arm and performing an arm wrench before going for a short arm clothesline. The clothesline connected, but The Giant was merely staggered. But with the Giant on the ropes, Roberts came in with a swinging knee lift that finally took the big man down! Roberts with the cover - One, Two, KICKOUT with authority by the Giant. Roberts went right back on the attack, stomping on Giant's back as he got to his feet...but Giant absorbed the blows. a kick to the midsection set The Giant up for The Snake's DDT finisher, but the Giant shoved Roberts off. Roberts ran back in and was hit with a giagantic open hand slap to the chest that knocked Roberts down! The Taskmaster ordered The Giant to FINISH him. The Giant did just that...pulling Roberts up by his hair then driving him into the mat with a big CHOKESLAM! One wasn't enough for Kevin Sullivan as he DEMANDED a second! The Giant obliged, lifting Jake back up and hitting him with a SECOND chokeslam! The Giant put his two palms over Roberts' chest to get the nonchalant three count. (78/82/70) -After the match, Kevin Sullivan climbed into the ring with The Giant to lift up his arm in victory. Amazingly, Jake Roberts was getting back to his feet again! Sullivan wasn't going to have that...A THIRD CHOKESLAM to Roberts from the Giant! The show came to a close as The Giant let out a barbaric yell as he placed one foot on the fallen Roberts, throwing up his arms as we faded to black. WWF Superstars June 1st, 1996 Your Hosts: Michael Cole & Ted DiBiase - An enthusiastic Michael Cole invites us to a thrilling 2nd hour of wrestling action, and it starts with Jimmy Hart & Vader in the ring! - Vader is pacing as Hart says he has still upset. Beating down that ingrate Meng? It was not enough. He wants direct revenge... that's why he's calling out the Renegade! After a brief wait the man himself rushes out, running into the ring and he starts trading blows with Vader! He gets hit an few times back, but eventually chases Vader right out as Hart says he'll regret that in the ring 'later'. (67) Aldo Montoya vs. Scott Taylor Montoya is all over Taylor here, being very aggressive and finishing the bout with a sick looking Superkick that nearly decapitates poor Scott. After his win he talks to the camera, asking if Kid is ready for 'round 3'. (63, 51, 76) - Backstage again as we see Pillman and Bulldog staring coldly at each other. Owen Hart walks in all smiles, saying he hopes the two have warmed to each other. Before they know it Raw will be here and so too will be their huge title shot! Pillman says he knows he's ready. He's a team player. He actually CARES about the Hart family! Bulldog scoffs, saying he's actually in the damn family which Brian says is a damn shame. As the two argue the American Males walk by and stop, Bagwell shaking his head and wondering aloud how these two are more deserving of a title shot than them. Hart snaps back and says they'll show why in that ring, if Bagwell and Riggs have the guts! Riggs happily accepts and the males walk off, Pillman and Bulldog shocked at their sudden tag match! (77) 'Loose Cannon' Brian Pillman & The British Bulldog w/ Owen Hart vs. The American Males A lot of obvious problems for the tandem of Pillman and Bulldog early on, as the Males look like a well oiled machine. Eventually the youngster is exposed by a sneaky Owen Hart trip that allows Bulldog to nearly kill Scotty Riggs with a lariat. From here Pillman and Bulldog almost seem to be trying to one up each other, to the point where is nearly leads to a sneak roll-up by Bagwell. In the end the class of Bulldog and Pillman shines through as the Loose Canon isolates Bagwell and hits a big flying crossbody for the 3. (75,75,76) - Backstage and Todd Pettengill is with Diamond Dallas Page. He asks Page when he'll 'let go' of his feud with Beefcake. DDP says he's not the one with the problem. He tells us that it's Beefcake who can't accept that his mains squeeze Kim has the hots for him still. So when will it end? When Kimberly goes back where she wants to be... by his side! As for tonight, he's going to show Beefcake how a real man fights when he knocks that 'goofy' NASCAR driver Bob Holly out and makes him feel... the... BANG! (83) Diamond Dallas Page vs. 'Sparkplug' Bob Holly Holly looked fired up here. Probably not pleased about being goofy (Although his race print/lime green tights didn't help arguments). The two end up in a big brawl as Holly really lacing into DDP whose forced to leave the ring. His break doesn't last though, because Bob is all over him and starts brawling with him at ringside. After an extended period of control DDP manages a desperate drop toe hold counter that sends Bob face first into the steel steps. From here he takes control and after a few minutes drills the Diamond Cutter for the hard earned win. (75,67,83) - We get a pre-recorded vignette from a poolside. Laying on a lawn chair is HHH, who smiles. He says that he's glad to have Mr. Ramon's attention. It's a shame that beating his 'hired help' Savio was required but now that the has the bad Guys attention, he's got a message. He showed the world he could be a King, and he is LONG overdue a piece of silverware to add to his mansion. Onto the scene walks a bikini clad Chyna, which brings a bigger smile to HHH's face as he says he needs to get in some 'training' now, but promises to confront Razor this Tuesday on Raw! (88) The Renegade vs. Vader w/ Jimmy Hart Well the Renegade certainly has guts, and he runs right into the ring and into a brawl with Vader after his entrance. His momentum is killed after his attempt at a diving shoulderblock is sidestepped and Vader follows with a big lariat. From here the bigger man controls the tempo, grinding Renegade down with some corner splashes, punches and bodyslams as he really punishes him. He even sends him back first into the ring post before throwing him so hard into the steel steps they actually topple over! Once back in the ring Vader lifts Renegade up and drills him with a powerbomb before dragging him to the corner. Once there it's academic as he nails a Vader Bomb for a impressive win. Not satisfied though, he gets up and than drills ANOTHER Vader Bomb! Renegade looks in real pain now as Vader starts climbing again, but out runs Sting to a big pop. He and Vader exchange blows but once the Stinger gets the upper hand Vader bails as Sting checks on a clearly hurting Renegade to end the show. (75,78,71) OVERALL - 75 |

WCW Monday Nitro June 3, 1996 Announcers: Tony Shiavone & Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan -A recap from last week's Nitro opening the show - as 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage saved Eddie Guerrero from an attack at the hands of Ric Flair & The Four Horsemen. Tonight, Savage and Guerrero would team up to take on Ric Flair and Arn Anderson in tonight's main event! -'Das Wunderkind' Alex Wright vs. The Barbarian: We kicked the show off with singles competition between the Tongan powerhosue The Barbarian and young German sensation, Alex Wright. Barbarian got off to a quick start against the smaller German star. But before this match got much change to pick up any steam - the lights in the arena dimmed and out came 'The Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan alongside the deadman The Undertaker. The match came to a screeching hault as Taskmaster sent The Undertaker into the ring. The incoming Barbarian dished out some right hands to Taker, but all were 100% no sold before Taker laid out Barbarian with an uppercut. Wright was up to his feet, but quickly taken down with a big boot from The Undertaker. Wright was soon laid out with a CHOKESLAM from Taker. Barbarian was back up and attacking Taker from behind, but Taker once again no sold that offense and lifted Barbarian up into a sideslam. Taskmaster lifted up the urn and commanded Taker to finish Barbarian. Taker obliged by lifting Barbarian up and driving him into the mat with the Tombstone Piledriver. The Undertaker knelt down in the middle of the ring to Taskmaster who held up the urn. This match would be ruled a no contest. (55/52/59) -Kevin Sullivan could be heard saying this was only the beginning of the destruction of WCW. Taskmaster led Taker to the back as Barbarian and Alex Wright were both laid out in the ring. -After a break, we come back with Rey Mysterio already in the ring for the next contest. Out came his opponent for the evening, the number one contender to the WCW Cruiserweight Title - Ultimo Dragon - led to the ring by Sony Oono. The duo climbed into the ring and Oono bowed to Ultimo Dragon. Oono took the microphone and ran down Mysterio's attempt to win the Cruiserweight battle royal last week, and how silly it was of Mysterio to think he could stand up to a Japanese legend like Ultimo Dragon. Oono promised the same result tonight as last week, and that in due time Dragon would be the top Cruiserweight in all of WCW. (60%) -Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Ultimo Dragon (w/Sony Oono): Rey and Ultimo immediately went to work in this high speed, high octane back and forth cruiserweight contest. Tony Shiavone put over Dragon's Japanese legend while Heenan made some borderline racist comments about asian cusine. These two put on a great match that saw Dragon eventually take control of the less experienced Mysterio and pick up several nearfalls off cradles and rollups - but the young Mysterio presevered and stayed in the match. Mysterio even began to mount a furious comeback against the number one contender that seemed to be building him some momentum to possibly pull off the upset. Mysterio put Dragon up on the top turnbuckle and began to possibly go for his Huricanrana finsiher, but Sony Oono climbed onto the apron, distracting the referee. When he did, fellow Japanese cruiserweight Taka Michinoku came from the back and shoved Rey off the top turnbuckle! Dragon regain his composure and came off the top rope with a missle dropkick to Rey. The interference from Taka was enough to give Dragon the momentum he needed as he soon had Rey locked in the Dragon Sleeper. Mysterio tried to fight it, but finally had to tap out. (74/60/88) -After the match, Taka Michinoku joined Ultimo Dragon in the ring and they wanted to do some more damage to Rey Mysterio - but WCW Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko rushed down from the back to make the save. Dragon and Michinoku left the ring as Malenko slid in. Sony Oono regrouped with the two Japanese wrestlers at the top of the aisle, and lifted up both of their arms as Malenko knelt down beside Mysterio to check on him while keeping his eyes on Dragon and Michinoku up the aisle. -Our next segment saw the 1996 King of the Ring Jeff Jarrett making his way down to the ring with Woman by his side to a round of boos from the crowd. Jarrett climbed into the ring and took the microphone. He was upset at the crowd for the reaction they gave him, telling them that that was NO WAY to treat a KING. Jarrett went on to say he was out here tonight to take care of some Horsemen related business. Their was this issue with Eddie Guerrero and how he thought he was outsmarting the Horsemen at King of the Ring - well, they had promised to make Guerrero pay for his crimes...but Jarrett had an even better idea about how to handle the situation. There's another Guerrero in the back...Eddie's little nephew, Chavo Guerrero. Jarrett revealed that had requested a match against Chavo. Chavo Guerrero Jr. reluctantly made his way down to the ring to confront Jarrett. Jarrett said he realized ultimately Chavo had nothing to do with what his uncle did...but there was no better way to make Guerrero pay than by taking it out on his family...and he planned to do just that! (77%) -Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Jeff Jarrett (w/Woman): The young cruiserweight Chavo Guerrero was outmatched from the opening bell here against Jarrett, but much like his uncle - he had some fight in him and kept trying to fight his way back against Jarrett. But Jarrett wasn't the only one interested in doing a number on Eddie's nephew. Arn Anderson made his way down from the back to join his Four Horsemen stablemate's corner. Eventually Woman would distract the referee as Anderson climbed into the ring. Jarrett pulled Chavo up and tossed him over to Anderson for a SPINEBUSTER! Eddie Guerrero rushed down to the ring, having seen enough done to his nephew. Eddie springboarded into the ring, taking out Anderson with a dropkick! Anderson rolled out of the ring as the referee turned around to see Eddie going after Jarrett! The referee called for the bell - giving the victory to Jarrett by disqualification. (75/70/81) -After the bell had rung, Guerrero continued on the offensive to Jarrett, taking him to the mat with an armdrag before Jarrett rolled to ringside and safety beside Arn Anderson. Jarrett and Anderson headed to the back with Woman as Eddie helped his nephew to his feet. Later tonight, Eddie would get his chance at the Horsemen when he teamed up with WCW World Champion Randy Savage! -Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was standing by with Steve 'Mongo' McMichael and the 'Montourage' of Debra McMichael (with neckbrace), Clarence Mason, and the newest member, his personal bodyguard Mark Henry. Mongo said that last week, he brought in the 'World's Strongest Man' to be his bodyguard, and that tonight - he wanted the world to witness EXACTLY why he did that. Tonight, Mark Henry would be making his in ring debut and hoped everyone was taking notes - because with this ensemble by his side, Mongo would once again be a champion in no time. (69%) -Marty Jannetty (w/Goldust & Marlena) vs. Mark Henry (w/The Montourage): Marty Jannetty was joined as per usual by a camcorder equipped Goldust and a seated Marlena while Mark Henry had Mongo in company in his corner for his debut. And what a dominating debut it was. Jannetty's early attempts of offense against the big brickhouse of a man were all but useless. Henry quickly overpowered Jannetty and tossed him from pillar to post in this one sided match. Henry would finally put Jannetty out of his misery by making him pass out in the clutches of a bearhug. (60/52/69) -Mongo celebrated with Henry and the Montourage before heading to the back. Meanwhile, Marty Jannetty struggled to his feet as Goldust climbed into the ring. Goldust was clearly frustrated with Jannetty's lack of success as his 'muse' and began to verbally berate Jannetty in the ring. Finally, Goldust gave Jannetty a kick to the groin, then hit Jannetty with the CURTAIN CALL! Marlena seemed pleased by Goldust's attack, and the duo left the ring together to boos from the crowd. -Fit Finlay vs. Squire David Taylor (w/Lord Steven Regal & Earl Robert Eaton): The saga of 'The Belfast Brawler' Fit Finlay taking on the Blue Bloods continued this week on nitro as David Taylor went into rare singles competition against the Irishman. Finlay took an immediately upperhand on Taylor, using his stiff clubbing blows to wear down Taylor. Just as Finlay seemed to be setting Taylor up to finish him with the Celtic Drive, Eaton distracted the referee, allowing Regal to climb into the ring armed with brass knuckles around his fist! Regal drove a brass knux armed fist right into Finlay's head! Finlay dropped to the mat with Taylor landing on top! Regal left the ring as the ref returned to action to find the cover...One, Two, Three! Squire David Taylor with the surprise win thanks to help from his friends. (77/66/88) -Lord Steven Regal climbed into the ring and indicated that he wanted Finlay to kiss his boot. Eaton and Taylor put the boots to Finlay as he tried to get up and the duo started to pull Finlay towards Regal's boot...but the Bushwackers rushed the ring to make the save! Luke and Butch cleaned house of Taylor and Eaton while Regal ducked to safety. The Bushwackers stomped around the ring as Finlay got to his feet. Finlay and the Bushwackers shook hands and stood tall in the ring while Regal and the Blue Bloods scurried up the aisle. -Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund was standing by with Public Enemy. The duo were upset at WCW Tag Team Champions Harlem Heat for what apparently was a deal that they have yet to follow up on. Rocco Rock explained that they attacked The Steiner Brothers and left them laying for Harlem Heat to take advantage of the situation to get their tag titles back - the payback for that attack was suppose to be a tag title shot for Public Enemy - but they have YET to see that title shot. Needless to say, they were NOT happy about this turn of events. Sister Sherri walked into the shot with both tag title belts around her shoulders. She said that she was here on behalf of the tag champions Booker T & Stevie Ray because they had more important things to do than deal with this. She said that if Public Enemy wanted a title shot - they would have to earn it just like anyone else. There are no 'handouts' in this business, she explained. She walked off screen as Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge exchanged looks. They said they knew they should not have trusted those thugs - but if they had to 'earn it' - they would make both Harlem Heat and The Steiner Brothers know just who Public Enemy is and why they should have never MESSED with them! (61%) MAIN EVENT: 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage & Eddie Guerrero vs. 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair & 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson (w/Woman): The much anticipated tag team match tonight started out innocently enough with Eddie Guerrero locking up with former champion Ric Flair. After some back and forth action, Guerrero used his speed to get the upperhand on Flair before Flair had to bring in Anderson. Guerrero was happy to get his hands on the US Champion, but Anderson quickly wrestled Guerrero to the mat and took the advantage. Anderson would go for a knee drop, only to have Guerrero roll out of the way and get the tag to Savage. Savage came in and immediately took control of Anderson. Savage was controling the offense against Anderson until Savage bounced off the ropes and ran into a knee from Flair on the apron. This slowed Savage down enough for Anderson to drop him with a snapmare and get the tag to Flair. Flair took over and briefly controled the offense against the WCW Champion, but when Flair went for a backdrop, Savage telegraphed it and drove and axehandle down onto Flair's back. Savage took back over, and went for the pin after a hangman's neckbreaker. One, Two, Th...Anderson broke up the pinfall attempt. Savage chased Anderson back to the corner, and went back on the attack to Flair before tagging Guerrero back in. Guerrero and Savage double teamed Flair - hitting him with a double suplex before Savage left the ring. Guerrero stayed in control until he came off the top with a crossbody attempt but Flair met him with a fist to the midsection as he flew through the air. Flair tagged in Anderson and the duo double teamed Anderson until the referee forced Flair out of the ring. Flair and Anderson would from here take turns working over Guerrero while the crowd grew anxious for a hot tag to Savage. After a commercial break, we came back to see Guerrero still being worked over on the mat by Flair who was weakining Guerrero's legs for an eventual Figure Four. However, when Flair went up to the top rope, Guerrero recovered and tossed Flair off the turnbuckles! Guerrero dropped to his knees, showing his fatigue and struggled to make the tag. Flair and Guerrero both made their tags at the same time! Savage came in with a head of steam and quickly took Anderson to the mat with a lariat. The fresh Savage was in control until Flair raked Savage's back from behind! But in came Guerrero with a dropkick to Flair! Guerrero and Savage worked together as Savage hit a piledriver to Anderson and Guerrero hit a brainbuster to Flair! The crowd was electric as Savage and Guerrero go to their feet. They each pointed to the top turnbuckles! Guerrero climbed one turnbuckle while Savage climbed the other! Jeff Jarrett rushed down to the ring as both men ascended the ropes. Savage came off with the Flying Elbow to Arn Anderson, while Eddie Guerrero came off with the Frog Splash aiming for Flair! But Jarrett reached into the ring and pulled Flair to safety! Guerrero hit the canvas, but Savage was right on target! Savage hooked Anderson's leg - One, Two, Three! (90/93/85) -After the match, Savage helped Guerrero up off the apron as Jarrett also pulled Anderson out of the ring. The trio regrouped with Woman while Flair began to realize what happened. He seemed to be questioning Jarrett - while in the ring, Savage and Guerrero threw their arms up in victory. -But the night wasn't over yet, an upset Ric Flair took the microphone and told Savage that this was no time for them to be celebrating. Because he had an announcement to make. Since the brand split, Flair admitted that the Nitro representative of the Championship Committee was a close, personal friend of the Horsemen. Flair said that this man is HERE...TONIGHT...and will be taking an active role on Nitro. Flair wanted to introduce the world to former Four Horseman...JAMES J. DILLON! -The crowd met James J. Dillon with little reaction as he walked out in a suit and tie and greeted his friend Flair in the aisle. They shook hands and Dillon took the microphone. He thanked Flair for the intro - and greeted Savage and Guerrero in the ring. Dillon said that he was already here to shake things up...so in TWO weeks from tonight - they would be having a 'very special' Nitro. It would be a Clash of the Champions show! And the main event of that Clash of the Champions Nitro would be 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage defending the WCW World Heavyweight title against none other than...'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair! Flair smiled and nodded his head, while Savage said he had no problems with that. Dillon wasn't done however...because as winner of the 1996 King of the Ring, Jeff Jarrett had a vested interest in the outcome of that match, because at Bash at the Beach, Jarrett would be challenging for the WCW World Title! So...that in mind, the match at Clash of the Champions would be a SPECIAL REFEREE MATCH and that special referee will be none other than JEFF JARRETT! (64%) -Ric Flair's smile doubled as Dillon made his announcement. Jarrett also nodded his head in approval - but in the ring, Savage was visibly upset as Guerrero tried to calm him down. Nitro came to a close as The Horsemen stood tall at the top of the aisle with authority figure James J. Dillon apparently right in their back pocket. OVERALL - 68% |
