So, the BCS is awful, so I am doing a tournament using WhatIfSports. Here's the criteria. 1) All 11 conference champions are put in the tourney. 2) All other undefeated (none) and one-loss teams (four) are in. 3) At large teams are added until we have sixteen total teams. So here are the matchups for round one. We'll reseed every round until the finals, and for the first two rounds, we'll be at the higher-ranked team's field. #01 LSU (13-0) unr Louisiana Tech (8-4) #02 Alabama (11-1) unr Northern Illinois (10-3) #03 Oklahoma State (11-1) unr Arkansas State (10-2) #04 Stanford (11-1) #23 West Virginia (9-3) #05 Oregon (11-2) #21 Southern Miss (11-2) #06 Arkansas (10-2) #19 Houston (12-1) #07 Boise State (11-1) #15 Clemson (10-3) #10 Wisconsin (11-2) #18 TCU (10-2) Note: I switched Clemson and TCU because I didn't want any rematches in week one. |

Top draft prospect Justin Blackmon had 11 catches for 170 yards and a score, while Brandon Weeden was 30 of 45 with 381 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a pick for OK State. Of the ten rushing touchdowns Oregon scored today, LaMichael James had eight of them, tying an NCAA record held by Howard Griffith, Junior Worf, and Carey Bender. In addition, his 417 yards is a I-A record, breaking LaDainian Tomlinson's 1999 effort of 406 yards. De'Anthony Thomas and Kenjon Barker also ran in TDs for the Ducks. For the Golden Eagles, Jamal Woodyard run for a score and Jeremy Hester caught a 68 yard pass from Austin Davis for a touchdown. |
