October 26, 1996 - High Incident Fresh off his gold medal win in the 1996 summer Olympics, amateur wrestler extraordinair - Kurt Angle was invited to attend the taping of ECW's taping of High Incident by fellow Pittsburgh native, former ECW Champion, Shane Douglas. Angle would be brought out by Joey Styles who introduced Angle and hyped up his accomplishments at the Olympics before introducing Angle to Little Guido, who looked up to Angle and respected his accomplishments as wrestler with an amatuer backgrounds as well. Then out came Taz who sarcastically congratulated Angle, but made it a point to say that Taz was a 'professional' while Angle was just an 'amatuer.' Angle would do commentary for the ensuing Taz/Guido match. However, all this would come to an end when in a controversal finish to the Raven/Sandman match when Raven "crucified" The Sandman by attaching him to a cross using barbedwire. Angle was shocked by the controversial imagery and stormed out of the event - afraid his image would be damaged if he was associated with this incident. He would even later threaten to sue Paul Heyman if he was shown on television in the same broadcast as the stunt. Angle would go on to join the World Wrestling Federation in 1998 and become a multi-time World Champion and one of the top performers ever in WWF history. What if this had all gone down differently. *REWINDS THE CLOCK* In our new history, as Angle was storming out of the event - he was stopped by Shane Douglas who calmed our Olympic hero down as Raven made the apology to the crowd for his actions. Calmer heads prevailed and Angle decided to enter negotiations with Heyman to become an ECW talent. High Incident Results Hack Meyers, Buh Buh Ray Dudley, & Davey Morton beat JT Smith, Axl Rotten, & D-Von Dudley when Morton pinned Smith. Mikey Whipwreck pinned Johnny Smith. Taz beat Little Guido via submission. Chris Candido pinned Spike Dudley. ECW TV Champ Shane Douglas pinned Cody Michaels. ECW Champ Sandman pinned Too Cold Scorpio. The infamous crucifixion angle with Raven occurred after this match. The Eliminators beat Terry Gordy & Steve Williams when Saturn pinned Gordy. Sabu & Rob Van Dam beat Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat when Sabu pinned Furnas. Tommy Dreamer beat Brian Lee in "scaffold" match. ------------------------- ECW Stars Axl Rotten Balls Mahoney Bam Bam Bigelow Beulah McGuillicutty Big Dick Dudley Bill ALfonso Brian Lee Buh Buh Ray Dudley Chris Chetti Danny Doring Devon Storm Doug Furnas D-Von Dudley Francine Ian Rotten Joel Gertner John Kronus Johnny Smith Kid Kash Kimona Kurt Angle Little Guido Mike Awesome Mikey Whipwreck Mustafa New Jack Paul Heyman Perry Saturn Phil LaFon Pitbull #1 Pitbull #2 Raven Rick Rude Roadkill Rob Van Dam Sabu Sal E. ECW Hardcore TV November 2, 1996 The mix of "Closer" and "Thunderkiss '65" played to bring us in to the latest episode of ECW Hardcore TV. Joey Styles and Rick Rude welcomed us to this week's show which would feature Rob Van Dam & Sabu in action, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Shane Douglas defending the ECW Television Title! Rob Van Dam & Sabu vs. PG-13 Wolfie D and JC Ice were fresh off their release from the WWF - but had the crowd jeering them as they rapped their way to the ring, insulting the crowd along the way. RVD & Sabu made their way out to big cheers from the crowd. RVD & Sabu started this match strong with high energy - getting the early control on both Wolfie D and JC Ice. But a cheapshot from the apron by Wolfie D allowed the duo to isolate RVD briefly. Unfortunately for the white rapping pair, a stray chairshot was ducked by RVD and Wolfie D connected with his partner JC Ice! Rob Van Dam rolled to the corner and tagged in Sabu. Sabu came in and immediately began using that chair against Wolfie D. Sabu would hit a Triple Jump Moonsault to Wolfie D, as JC Ice was rushing back in with a chair...VAN DAMINATOR from Rob Van Dam! Both members of PG13 were out...and Sabu and RVD took to the top turnbuckles....FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH to JC Ice and an Arabian Facebuster to Wolfie D! Dueling pinfalls got the three count for RVD & SABU! (64/59/79) -After a commercial break, Joey Styles was standing in the ring - recapping High Incident and beginning to hype November 2 Remember. Styles hyped up the amazing Scaffold Match between Dreamer and Brian Lee. This brought out "The Franchise" Shane Douglas who said he was sick and tired of hearing about Dreamer's victory...Douglas said Dreamer didn't deserve all the attention, people needed to be focusing on THE FRANCHISE - after all, he is a champion and Dreamer is not. Amazingly, Tommy Dreamer responded to the call, which Joey Styles called remarkable given he should still be healing from the brutal Scaffold Match at High Incident. But Dreamer's a fighter, and despite going through Hell with Brian Lee - he was here tonight and he said that Douglas was right...he isn't a champion, not yet. Dreamer said he's proven a lot over the years and done battle with anyone and everyone - but a title had eluded him. But if Douglas wanted to put his money where his mouth was - he'd be happy to take the TV Title. Douglas smirked and said he'd love to...BUT...he already has a title match tonight against Too Cold Scopio. Dreamer smiled and put his hand on Douglas' shoulder - saying that was fine...even though if Douglas was smart, he would've taken advantage of Dreamer not being 100%...but if he wants to wait, Dreamer would have no problem waiting...until say...NOVEMBER 2 REMEMBER?! Dreamer gave Douglas a pat on the back before leaving the ring, leaving Dreamer speachless in the ring. (81%) Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Kid Kash Back to in-ring action as the youngster Kid Kash had his hands full with the 'Beast from the East' Bam Bam Bigelow. Bigelow was in full monster mode tonight, not letting Kash get in any offense. Bigelow made short work of Kash, putting him away with the Greetings From Asbury Park for the dominant victory. (63/54/72) MAIN EVENT - TV Title Match: 'The Franchise' Shane Douglas (c) (w/Francine) vs. Too Cold Scorpio Joey Styles and Rick Rude confirmed during this match that indeed Tommy Dreamer would be challenging for the TV Title at November 2 Remember...but could Shane Douglas get past Too Cold Scorpio. Scorpio certainly put up a strong challenge to Douglas, picking up several nearfalls against the champion - but not even the ECW fans ever thought Scorpio was going to actually pick up the victory tonight. Douglas battled back after a low blow and put Scorpio away with the Pittsburgh Plunge for the successful title defense. (59/58/61) As the match came to a close, we faded out to the typical "Pulp Fiction promos" that wrap up most episodes of Hardcore TV. Featured in this week's montage of promos was first Bam Bam Bigelow who was backstage after his impressive and dominant victory over Kid Kash. Bigelow boasted his domination over his weaker competition - and claimed that the rest of ECW would be in line, crushing all the competition on his way to the ECW Championship. Next was, Taz who was outside in the dark parking lot with a towel over his head, Taz focused on his confrontation at High Incident with Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle - saying that he was hoping Angle was taking notes during his match with Little Guido - because that's how a PRO wrestles. Taz warns Angle to stay as far away from ECW as possible, because this is NOT a place for amatuers. Finally, former ECW Champion Raven was in what appeared to be a cellar with the Nest, Stevie Richards, The Blue Meanie, and The Blue Nova. Raven claimed that his hatred for The Sandman has caused him to do some things that even HE regretted. The 'incident' at 'High Incident' will go down in history as one of the times even Raven can admit he went too far. But make not mistake, he does not apologize for HURTING Sandman - because that's his goal. And next time they meet in the ring, Raven promised he would do more than just HURT Sandman - he would make him feel the same pain Raven has felt all his life. He said he hoped Sandman enjoyed the feel of the barbedwire around his body...because he better get used to it, because at November 2 Remember...they would meet for the ECW World Championship..IN A BARBED WIRE MATCH! QUOTH THE RAVEN - NEVERMORE. (86%) OVERALL - 68% Edited by Dubb, May 11 2012, 09:35 AM.
