Mofo's Wrestlemania 30 thoughts
Spoiler: click to toggle I'm not sure if this was the best Wrestlemania ever...but it very well could be. A match by match breakdown and my opinion on them
4 Way Elimination Tag Title Match
This was a hell of an opener on the pre-show. The Usos really shined here, and the crowd was red hot for The Real Americans (especially Cesaro). The Usos winning was the smart move and Cesaro turning on Swagger was perfect, and set him up later in the show to shine.
Opening Segment with Rock/Austin/Hogan
Putting the three biggest stars in WWE history together to open the biggest wrestling event ever was genius. They had some great back and forth and it got the show off to a rocking start. Loved the visual of all 3 of them in the ring.
Daniel Bryan vs Triple H
This was a great story told and the match Bryan has been waiting for in storyline for 8 months, so to have him get revenge, and to also have HHH create more sympathy for Bryan later in the show with a post match attack, was perfect booking. The match itself was very well done (as almost any Bryan match is these days) and I applaud HHH for setting ego aside and not only opening WM, but jobbing clean to Bryan. It needed to be done and I didn't think he'd do it, so kudos.
The Shield vs Kane/Outlaws
This was a complete squash...and was again the right call. The Shield looked like total badasses and nobody needed to see Kane or The Outlaws get in any offense or show The Shield having vulnerability. They beat down the veterans and will get a boost from it.
Andre the Giant BR
This was chaotic as most BRs are, but it did it's job by showcasing good spots (Kofi's again), made Big Show look badass, and most importantly, I feel it made Cesaro into a star. The image of him picking up Big Show and lifting him over like it was nothing will be replayed for years and it gives him the feeling of this guy is really important now. Battle Royals are supposed to showcase talent and make at least 1 guy look amazing coming out of it, and this did that. Anxious to see where Cesaro goes from here.
John Cena vs Bray Wyatt
This was a solid match IMO, not great, and I found the story of Cena trying to keep his "inner beast" from exploding was a little cheesy. Cena going over clean was expected from me beforehand, so I don't take issue with it (as many others will) because that's who Cena is. Wyatt should continue to blossom from here though. A title feud with Bryan for Summerslam would be ideal.
Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker
The most shocking moment in WWE history (no exaggeration at all), Brock ends the streak in Taker's (almost certainly) final match. The match itself was the nights big clunker and was way too slow paced, a sign that Taker is probably going out at the right time. I am shocked they would give a part timer like Brock the big rub here, but Brock is a bad ass and Heyman will be able to play this up for however long Brock remains in the WWE to make Brock look even more badass. I look forward to seeing everything Heyman does with this win. Sad to see Taker and the streak go, but it's a good time for the former, while the latter can be debated to death.
Divas Match
The crowd was still shocked from the streak ending, so putting this as a bridge between that and the main event was smart. The match itself was pretty solid, not too long and had some very strong spots. AJ retaining is the right move
Main Event
This was the match quality that shocked me the most tonight because I'd say it was MOTN by the end. Credit goes to Orton and Batista for stepping up their games big time (the Powerbomb into a RKO table combo was unique and executed perfectly). I got pissed the authority came out again, but Bryan dispatching them worked out well and Bryan coming back from the stretcher to win was great booking once again. Bryan's deserved this title since Summerslam and I am glad to see the WWE finally agrees. I thought that the match would be a letdown going in because the fans would still be in shock from the streak ending (and the fans were quiet early on) but when the action picked up and Bryan got beaten down, the fans rallied behind him and came alive. The ending was perfect and the result was what needed to be done. Bryan's the face of WWE now and I couldn't be happier about it.
Overall, there was only 1 disappointing match (Taker/Brock) but I'd say the rest was top notch quality. The WWE should get praised for this entire PPV and I'm hopeful this is the start of a new, great direction.

Spoiler: click to toggle Although the match itself was nothing special, I think the end of the Undertaker/Brock Lesnar match more than made up for it. As a very unapologetic Undertaker fan for his entire career (the very first PPV I ever watched was his debut) I think this was the right call, and I think whoever was directing the show did an absolutely perfect job post-match. The crowd shots, the stunned silence of the announcers, even the reaction of Heyman and Brock; absolutely perfect. I had small hopes for this event leading in as I thought the card was extremely lacking, but this was without a doubt my favorite WrestleMania of all time. My only complaint was that the Wyatts did not do something post-match to Cena, but there's always tomorrow night for that if they want to.

Spoiler: click to toggle I enjoyed most of the card but I don't agree with Taker losing the streak to Lesnar at all. I guess they must be great buddies or whatever but I just see no point in a part timer getting the big rub with this win. Lesnar would be plenty 'monster' heel without beating the streak and Heyman doesn't need this to be a bragging heel manager. It's just pointless and feels like they only did it for the shock factor. For sure it was shocking, but for the wrong reasons. The buidl up to the match was weak, the match itself was slow and awful (Not sure how much is on either guy for that) and the ending doesn't make up for it. I know a lot of people here seem to love it and think it's a great idea but I just don't understand the point in having Taker lose what is probably his last match to a guy who might not work more then a handful of matches the rest of the year (Or rest of his career at his current pace). Also wasn't a huge fan of Cena going over clean and beating basically all 3 Wyatt's. The match was good, but not great, and I just hope this doesn't murder all of Wyatt's momentum like so many past guys who have lost to Cena.
On the plus side I enjoyed the booking for everything else on the card. The Shield vs. Authority was kind of short but got the point across to re-establish them as a threat, the Tag Team opener was very strong as well and Cesaro came out looking great. The bodyslam of Show was amazing, but the fact he basically walked holding him up was an unreal sight. Can't wait to see if they give him a legit push. The women's match was also a lot better then I anticipated going in, even if it was in an absolutely hopeless situation (Even compared to other past Divas matches that are sandwhiched between the two big matches). Daniel Bryan was also booked very good here. His match with HHH was every bit as good as I expected it to be and had the right finish, and the Triple Threat was awesome with all 3 guys clearly bringing their work boots. Even HHH/Steph and the strecher job did a great job of telling a story. Recovering from the crowd killing that was Brock/Taker says a lot about how good this match was and how good a job all 3 guys did to bring them back up for that finish everyone was dying to see.
All around it was a very good Wrestlemania, best I've seen in awhile, but I still don't like Lesnar ending the streak, and I doubt that will change unless it comes out tomorrow that he's coming back to work at least a semi-full time deal.

Spoiler: click to toggle Again, as an Undertaker fan, I think Brock Lesnar beating the streak was the right thing to do. I do not say that simply because it was Brock Lesnar, but because it is time for the Undertaker to walk off into the sunset. After seeing the match and his reaction afterwards, I think this was his last match. I think it would have been his last match regardless, and I do not mind the fact that Lesnar did it because it was believable. A lot of people have shit on the match, and to be honest they are right. The match was not that good. Sure, it might have been good in normal standards, but Undertaker and his opponent for Wrestle Mania have put on match of the night and match of the year candidates for five years now. The man is over 50 years old now, and it was just time. It wouldn't have mattered who the opponent was, like I said, but in a way I find it fitting that it was Lesnar. If I remember correctly, it was Undertaker who put over Lesnar after he beat The Rock for the title the first time, and that feud legitimized Lesnar as a sure main event player. And let's talk about the Streak. People like to talk about how beating the Streak would place a feather in the cap of whoever did it like we are still living in an era of wrestling where people are blind to certain things. We don't live in that era anymore. 21 or 22 wins at Wrestle Mania was nothing more than a booking choice, plain and simple. They used it the last few years to put a big match on the card without having to dedicate a lot of time to the build, not to mention the fact that they could do so without having to use Undertaker full-time. If they were going to use the Streak to put someone over or build them up, it would have been done 5 or 6 years ago. I don't think this was about putting a feather in the cap of Brock Lesnar or making him more over. The Streak ended because this was Wrestle Mania 30, they wanted to provide a shock to an era of fans that think they know everything that is going to happen and should happen, and they did it to give us a moment we will never forget. And we won't. WrestleMania 30 is one of those events that will be talked about in one way or another for as long as pro wrestling exists. No one talks about how shitty the Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan match from Wrestle Mania 3 was. No one talks about the Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels match from Survivor Series 1997 match. The matches did not matter; it was about the moments. We can pretend that as wrestling fans we are interested in 5-star matches, and those are great when they happen, but in all honesty what keeps most fans coming back is the moments. We got two of those last night.

Mad about missing Scott Armstrong in person? I think that was the most exciting part of the show, and basically is why I posted FML in the first place

I just got done watching the thing that was on the network last night called Journey to WM30: Daniel Bryan (link here ) and I think it's honestly one of the best things the WWE has ever done in that format. It felt like a DVD documentary and featured people from John Cena to Stone Cold to Seth Rollins to The Miz talking about Bryan's career and how he got to this point. For anyone who's a fan of Daniel Bryan, it is a must watch, and I learned more about him and was entertained throughout. Highly recommend it.

I don't know when Batista's X-Pac heat officially kicked in but it is hilarious to see how much the crowd wants to see him gone
