So, we've been talking about linear title histories, and a few of us did some work for various titles. I did the Hardcore Title, starting with when the Hardcore Title was merged with the Intercontinental title. I mainly used thehistoryofwwe.com for my sourcing.
Rules used...
1. All pins and submissions against the champion give the title to the one scoring the fall. Disqualifications and countouts do not count at any time.
2. Other stipulations (escaping a cage, grabbing a title) count if it is one-on-one, if it is a title match, or if it is part of a multi-part match.
3. Matches with multiple participants count, even if the fall does not end the match (Elimination Chamber, Iron Man, etc).
4. There is no time limit on defending titles.
5. If the result is ambiguous (ie, a tag match where the loser is not specified), the title is not changed unless there is good reason for me to assume the champion lost.

Note for this I avoid multi-man matches. Only all 1 vs. 1 matches count. Title can't change hands on countout or DQ.

WCW World Championship: Incomplete

Begins 1/11/91, when was declared Champion.

1/11/1991 Ric Flair 1st Champ
2/19/1992 Rowdy Roddy Piper Def. Flair in a Steel Cage Match, WWF House Show, Utica
3/22/1992 Ric Flair (2) Def. Piper in a Steel Cage Match, WWF House Show, London Gardens
3/25/1992 Rowdy Roddy Piper (2) Def. Flair in a Steel Cage Match, WWF House Show, New Brunswick
4/5/1992 Bret Hart Def. Piper at Wrestlemania VIII
8/29/1992 British Bulldog Def. Hart at Summerslam '92
10/27/1992 Shawn Michaels Def. Bulldog, Terre Haute, IN
11/25/1992 Bret Hart (2) Def. Michaels, Survivor Series 92
4/4/1993 Yokozuna Def. Hart, Wrestlemania IX
4/4/1993 Hulk Hogan Def. Yokozuna, Wrestlemania IX
6/13/1993 Yokozuna (2) Def. Hogan, King of the Ring 93
8/23/1993 Lex Luger Def. Yokozuna, USWA Show
8/29/1994 Tatanka Def. Luger, Summerslam 94
10/17/1994 Lex Luger (2) Def. Tatanka, RAW
2/18/1995 Shawn Michaels (2) Def. Luger, WWF House Show, Cinncinati

I stopped here as there is a 3/4/95 House Show match, but it was a special show different than other house shows. It had a Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels match. Either could have won. If Shawn wins though, the title goes to Diesel at Wrestlemania XI, and unifies the Linear WWE and WCW Titles.

That history is posted here: http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2014/03/12/who-is-the-reigning-linear-wwe-champion/

If I can find out if Bret wins, I'll continue it, as there would be some interesting turns.
