So I'm watching WWE Raw, and just finished the promo with Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar. It's pretty clear the crowd is 100% behind Brock Lesnar at this point, and him losing at WM would probably be the poor business move. But the fire behind Heyman's promos the last few weeks (not that these are any different than his normal ones) have got me SMH'ing at nuclear levels. It is so ridiculous that Daniel Bryan isn't in the main event of this match. It's gone beyond "he's the smark favorite" but it is clear that almost anyone would've done a better job than Reigns at this point. He's the most shoehorned in character I can remember since Ryback in late 2012, and even then that was due to Cena being injured. At least if they did Cena/Lesnar 9 or whatever it is now it wouldn't have been this boring. I'm not as versed in WWE history as some others here, but has there ever been such a damaging decision ever made? It seems like this has soured the entire WM season. It feels like it might as well just be another Fast Lane instead of Wrestlemania. |

I wouldn't say it's anything new for the WWE to have someone get really hot and push them too fast. Diesel is a prime example, and even to a lesser extent Cena's original move up the card. With that said Diesel was never really booed as champion until after Wrestlemania 11 and with Cena I'd say it was almost literally when he came out with his Ruck Fules t-shirt that half of his fans were pretty much ready to say fuck this guy. I think an underrated issue with Reigns is they've changed the things about him that made him the star he was becoming. He didn't get over by cutting promo's, which he's still awful at. He got over by coming in during tag matches which hid his somewhat limited moves and hitting his 3 big moves. It's just what Vince has done with almost everyone but The Rock & Steve Austin. They people got over with the crowd despite being 'heels' and when they 'turned' they did a complete 180 and lost the edge that was getting them over in the first place. That's not to say you can't get over as an actual nice guy face. Daniel Bryan is a perfect example as are guys like Bret Hart or Hogan but it's clear they've changed Reigns too much and he's still nowhere near ready to go as an in ring worker or on the microphone. |

Nothing will ever top the botched Invasion IMO. |

We need to see the Roman Reigns title win play out and the aftermath first. Mofo is probably right...InVasion was the biggest botched angle in the history of angles. When you see the buyrate for the PPV and what it turned into, it's just what the fuck. The NWO comeback in 2002 is up there...but Hulkamania had something to do with that. Combined with Austin's heel turn, those two angle botches ended what is still as of right now the last boom period in wrestling. |

The problem with the Invasion was WWF/E being too cheap to bring in the names people actually think of with WCW (nWo, Goldberg, Ric Flair...) and absolutely burying the WCW guys who did come. DDP was basically destroyed his entire 'feud' with Undertaker and by the time of the final showdown the Alliance team was made up of 3 WWE guys with the final two being Austin & Rock. Reigns is just a case of the people running things letting their ego dictate the product. They made their desicion a long time ago (Keep Roman strong ect.) but it's clear that while you obviously need to push talent to get them over it can easily reach a point where it becomes inorganic. Even worse is cases like Bray Wyatt where they clearly have someone very popular but they use him to put over John Cena when at this stage in both men's careers, it has to be the other way around. Then when you try to 'correct' this, you just end up hurting someone else (In this case Dean Ambrose). It's furstrating because they can obviously do good work (Seth Rollins is a prime example of pushing a guy somewhat slowly and that worker absolutely hitting it out of the park) but for every one of him there is a dozen failed projects that get punished because they couldn't get over being buried or simply fail because they aren't ready yet. |

Now that we saw the payoff, it's shown to not be the biggest mistake ever. |
