The rules are simple: You pick one person to vote for, and the 1 who receives the most votes will be in the HOF. You may choose to give reasons for your voting or not, but please consider all candidates and don't jump to conclusions in voting. Voting ends next Thursday. Thanks! In addition, the stats site archive will be used for players pages who retired during the years available. And please no "these HOF nominees are weak or terrible" posts/comments. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2051 Nominations Josh Tanner 4th Nomination http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2047/players/player617.htm Career stats: 15321 rebounds (8th), 4050 blocks (13th), 589 double doubles (41st) The case for Josh Tanner: Was one of the best rebounders in EBL history. Once set the record for most RPG in a season (14.5). Had 10 seasons with at least 12.3 RPG. Elite level shot blocker as well during this time. Former 2 time DPOY as well as a 7 time all star. Though he didn't score much, he also didn't hurt his team with bad shooting, either. Solid to good passer during his prime. 11 straight seasons of averaging a double double from 2032-2042. The case against Josh Tanner: Beyond one 18 PPG season, never did anything notable on offense. Was a bad FT shooter and a non existent outside player. Fell off sharply as a player later in his career. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Henry Brown 3rd Nomination http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2048/players/player240.htm Career stats: 26364 points (49th), 6442 assists (65th), 2623 steals (21st), 9964 FGs (50th), 2587 3s (24th) The case for Henry Brown: Won so many regular season games that it is tough to even keep track of. 11 time all star, as well as an all EBLer 8 times, making a strong case to be the best SG of his generation. Was an ideal sidekick to David Griffin almost every season. An elite 3pt shooter and scorer in general. Had 12 seasons of at least 20 PPG. Was an elite defender at the SG spot most of his career. Great rebounder/handler as well. Was capable of being a very good PG at times. The case against Henry Brown: Never led a team as the #1 guy. Was a big part of many playoff failures in Portland. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dave Hutchinson 2nd Nomination http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2049/players/player68.htm Career stats: 29735 points (22nd), 12306 assists (9th), 2008 steals (62nd), 11295 FGs (21st), 4510 FTs (57th), 2635 3s (t-19th), 584 double doubles (46th) The case for Dave Hutchinson: One of the most prolific PGs in EBL history. One of only 4 players to be top 22 in both points and assists (Rodney Purvis, David ONeal, Brandon Jennings). 11 straight seasons of 20+ PPG. Was fantastic at limiting turnovers, never averaging more than 2 in a season. Very effective shooter (.463 from the field, .853 from FTs, .410 from 3). 6 time all star at a loaded position. The case against Dave Hutchinson: Hardly ever made the playoffs the first decade of his career due to poor supporting casts. Was unable to carry bad teams to wins. Wasn't a bad defender most of his career, but also wasn't a great one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alex Lo 2nd Nomination http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2049/players/player475.htm Career stats: 15234 rebounds (9th), 4161 blocks (11th), 502 double doubles (t-72nd) The case for Alex Lo: One of the best defensive players of his generation. Was able to anchor a team's defense at the center spot for much of his career. Dominant to elite rebounder from year 5 to his retirement in year 16 (9 seasons in this span with at least 13 RPG). Elite shot blocker as well (at least 3.5 every season during this span). Won 2 titles as the main defensive guy in Denver and was on numerous other great teams. Remained elite on defense until he retired, winning his 2nd DPOY in his final season as well as putting up a career high 14.5 RPG. The case against Alex Lo: Was always a poor offensive player. Sometimes shot too much considering his limitations on that side of the ball. Was a fairly poor ball handler his entire career. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kenneth Nishida http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2050/players/player641.htm Career stats: 1582 games (2nd), 28479 points (27th), 19479 rebounds (1st), 5233 blocks (1st), 10411 FGs (32nd), 7555 FTs (2nd), 1071 double doubles (t-1st), 3598 turnovers (11th) The case for Kenneth Nishida: One of the most successful big men in EBL history. The all time leader in rebounds, blocks and double doubles. 2nd all time in points among big men to Derrick Favors. Averaged a double double every season of his career except for his first and last, spanning 17 seasons. Holds the single season record for RPG (15.1). Despite all his defensive and rebounding efforts, he still could be an underrated scorer at times, with 6 20 PPG seasons under his belt. Was a good FT shooter for a big man as well (75% career). 12 time all star. Unquestionably the best center of his generation. The case against Kenneth Nishida: Never was able to win a title. Had an issue with turnovers at times. Non-existent passer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dave Merchado http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2050/players/player94.htm Career stats: 1606 games (1st), 29095 points (25th), 11036 assists (16th), 2264 steals (44th), 11008 FGs (25th), 4546 FTs (55th), 2533 3s (26th), 4226 turnovers (2nd) The case for Dave Merchado: The only person in EBL history to ever play 1600 games. Has 11 20 PPG seasons on his resume, including 4 of 25+ in a row from 2037-2040. Was a great PG who struggled with turnovers early in his career, then transitioned into a great all around SG for the 2nd half of his career, showing versatility. Being 16th all time in assists despite playing half of his career at SG speaks wonders to his career. He was often a very good defender much of his career. Also an efficient shooter (career line of .457/.855/.400). The case against Dave Merchado: As mentioned, struggled mightily with turnovers when he played PG. He was never able to win a title despite being on many good teams. Played too long, hurting some of his legacy as he went on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Current Vote Tally Kenneth Nishida: 12 Dave Hutchinson: 5 Henry Brown: 1 Josh Tanner: 1 Alex Lo: 0 Dave Merchado: 0 Edited by Mofoticon, Jan 10 2016, 12:59 PM.
