The rules are simple: You pick one person to vote for, and the 1 who receives the most votes will be in the HOF. You may choose to give reasons for your voting or not, but please consider all candidates and don't jump to conclusions in voting. Voting ends next Thursday. Thanks! In addition, the stats site archive will be used for players pages who retired during the years available. And please no "these HOF nominees are weak or terrible" posts/comments. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2052 Nominations Henry Brown 4th Nomination http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2048/players/player240.htm Career stats: 26364 points (51st), 6442 assists (67th), 2623 steals (21st), 9964 FGs (52nd), 2587 3s (25th) The case for Henry Brown: Won so many regular season games that it is tough to even keep track of. 11 time all star, as well as an all EBLer 8 times, making a strong case to be the best SG of his generation. Was an ideal sidekick to David Griffin almost every season. An elite 3pt shooter and scorer in general. Had 12 seasons of at least 20 PPG. Was an elite defender at the SG spot most of his career. Great rebounder/handler as well. Was capable of being a very good PG at times. The case against Henry Brown: Never led a team as the #1 guy. Was a big part of many playoff failures in Portland. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dave Hutchinson 3rd Nomination http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2049/players/player68.htm Career stats: 29735 points (23rd), 12306 assists (9th), 2008 steals (64th), 11295 FGs (22nd), 4510 FTs (59th), 2635 3s (t-20th), 584 double doubles (48th) The case for Dave Hutchinson: One of the most prolific PGs in EBL history. One of only 4 players to be top 22 in both points and assists (Rodney Purvis, David ONeal, Brandon Jennings). 11 straight seasons of 20+ PPG. Was fantastic at limiting turnovers, never averaging more than 2 in a season. Very effective shooter (.463 from the field, .853 from FTs, .410 from 3). 6 time all star at a loaded position. The case against Dave Hutchinson: Hardly ever made the playoffs the first decade of his career due to poor supporting casts. Was unable to carry bad teams to wins. Wasn't a bad defender most of his career, but also wasn't a great one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alex Lo 3rd Nomination http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2049/players/player475.htm Career stats: 15234 rebounds (9th), 4161 blocks (11th), 502 double doubles (t-73rd) The case for Alex Lo: One of the best defensive players of his generation. Was able to anchor a team's defense at the center spot for much of his career. Dominant to elite rebounder from year 5 to his retirement in year 16 (9 seasons in this span with at least 13 RPG). Elite shot blocker as well (at least 3.5 every season during this span). Won 2 titles as the main defensive guy in Denver and was on numerous other great teams. Remained elite on defense until he retired, winning his 2nd DPOY in his final season as well as putting up a career high 14.5 RPG. The case against Alex Lo: Was always a poor offensive player. Sometimes shot too much considering his limitations on that side of the ball. Was a fairly poor ball handler his entire career. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dave Merchado 2nd Nomination http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2050/players/player94.htm Career stats: 1606 games (1st), 29095 points (27th), 11036 assists (16th), 2264 steals (46th), 11008 FGs (27th), 4546 FTs (57th), 2533 3s (27th), 4226 turnovers (2nd) The case for Dave Merchado: The only person in EBL history to ever play 1600 games. Has 11 20 PPG seasons on his resume, including 4 of 25+ in a row from 2037-2040. Was a great PG who struggled with turnovers early in his career, then transitioned into a great all around SG for the 2nd half of his career, showing versatility. Being 16th all time in assists despite playing half of his career at SG speaks wonders to his career. He was often a very good defender much of his career. Also an efficient shooter (career line of .457/.855/.400). The case against Dave Merchado: As mentioned, struggled mightily with turnovers when he played PG. He was never able to win a title despite being on many good teams. Played too long, hurting some of his legacy as he went on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ron Trimm http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2051/players/player373.htm Career stats: 37425 points (3rd), 11891 rebounds (55th), 6051 assists (74th), 14063 FGs (3rd), 5405 FTs (22nd), 3894 3s (2nd), 4036 turnovers (5th) The case for Ron Trimm: One of the most prolific scorers in EBL history. He may have been slightly overshadowed by David Griffin in his career, but many times was his equal. One of the best 3pt shooters of all time (2nd in 3s made, career 3pt% of .452). Extremely talented rebounder for the SF spot, behind only Andrew Wiggins in terms of full time wing players in total rebounds. Won a title on the 2030 Lakers and was on numerous other good teams. Very good passer and defender for much of his career. Had a 10 year stretch with at least 28 PPG in every season. The case against Ron Trimm: Struggled with turnovers much of his career. Became a worse defender the older he got. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ryan Laird http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2051/players/player45.htm Career stats: 28380 points (31st), 11814 assists (11th), 2573 steals (26th), 10922 FGs (28th), 2573 3s (26th), 591 double doubles (43rd), 3291 turnovers (20th) The case for Ryan Laird: A very protective PG during his career, with 15 seasons of 20+ PPG and 13 seasons with 9+ APG. Was a very good 3pt shooter for his career (40%). He was productive until his retirement, making the finals his final year as a starting PG for the Wizards. He was adept at getting steals and playing good defense. The case against Ryan Laird: Struggled with turnovers earlier in his career. Was somewhat a liability as a rebounder. Never won a title and struggled early on at making the playoffs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Current Vote Tally Ron Trimm: 13 Alex Lo: 2 Dave Hutchinson: 1 Henry Brown: 1 Dave Merchado: 1 Ryan Laird: 0 |

Trimm was the best by a large margin. Def should be an immediate HOFer. |

It's tough because I really do like Hutch, but Trimm is just better. Lo was also under heavy consideration. Vote: Ron Trimm Edited by Hajjhowe, Feb 19 2016, 09:54 PM.
