The rules are simple: You pick one person to vote for, and the one who receives the most votes will be in the HOF. You may choose to give reasons for your voting or not, but please consider all candidates and don't jump to conclusions in voting. Voting ends next Thursday. Thanks!

In addition, the stats site archive will be used for players pages who retired during the years available.

And please no "these HOF nominees are weak or terrible" posts/comments.

2054 Nominations

Alex Lo

5th and Final Nomination

http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2049/players/player475.htm

Career stats: 15234 rebounds (10th), 4161 blocks (11th), 502 double doubles (t-73rd)

The case for Alex Lo: One of the best defensive players of his generation. Was able to anchor a team's defense at the center spot for much of his career. Dominant to elite rebounder from year 5 to his retirement in year 16 (9 seasons in this span with at least 13 RPG). Elite shot blocker as well (at least 3.5 every season during this span). Won 2 titles as the main defensive guy in Denver and was on numerous other great teams. Remained elite on defense until he retired, winning his 2nd DPOY in his final season as well as putting up a career high 14.5 RPG.

The case against Alex Lo: Was always a poor offensive player. Sometimes shot too much considering his limitations on that side of the ball. Was a fairly poor ball handler his entire career.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tony Ross

5th and Final Nomination

http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2040/players/player321.htm

Career stats: 26710 points (48th), 10037 FGs (51st), 3966 FTs (96th), 2670 3s (20th)

The case for Tony Ross: Was among the best SFs in EBL for much of his prime. An extremely efficient 3pt shooter (.433). 12 straight seasons of 20+ PPG. A 4 time all star at a crowded position. Was one of the best sidekicks in EBL history on the Clippers Scott Duncan teams. A very good rebounder and passer for his position.

The case against Tony Ross: Was never a great defender, though was underrated at times with it. Did not have the same longevity as some other top notch SFs, but a case could be made he retired at the right time. Always had an issue with turnovers, though not a major one. Never led a team as the #1 guy. Also never won a title

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Josh Tanner

5th and Final Nomination

http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2047/players/player617.htm

Career stats: 15321 rebounds (9th), 4050 blocks (13th), 589 double doubles (44th)

The case for Josh Tanner: Was one of the best rebounders in EBL history. Once set the record for most RPG in a season (14.5). Had 10 seasons with at least 12.3 RPG. Elite level shot blocker as well during this time. Former 2 time DPOY as well as a 7 time all star. Though he didn't score much, he also didn't hurt his team with bad shooting, either. Solid to good passer during his prime. 11 straight seasons of averaging a double double from 2032-2042.

The case against Josh Tanner: Beyond one 18 PPG season, never did anything notable on offense. Was a bad FT shooter and a non existent outside player. Fell off sharply as a player later in his career.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dave Merchado

4th Nomination

http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2050/players/player94.htm

Career stats: 1606 games (1st), 29095 points (29th), 11036 assists (16th), 2264 steals (47th), 11008 FGs (29th), 4546 FTs (58th), 2533 3s (29th), 4226 turnovers (2nd)

The case for Dave Merchado: The only person in EBL history to ever play 1600 games. Has 11 20 PPG seasons on his resume, including 4 of 25+ in a row from 2037-2040. Was a great PG who struggled with turnovers early in his career, then transitioned into a great all around SG for the 2nd half of his career, showing versatility. Being 16th all time in assists despite playing half of his career at SG speaks wonders to his career. He was often a very good defender much of his career. Also an efficient shooter (career line of .457/.855/.400).

The case against Dave Merchado: As mentioned, struggled mightily with turnovers when he played PG. He was never able to win a title despite being on many good teams. Played too long, hurting some of his legacy as he went on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marcus Thornton

3rd Nomination

Career stats: 22378 points (84th), 8403 FGs (88th), 2318 3s (44th)

The case for Marcus Thornton: Maybe the best No.2 in EBL history. Was proficient throughout his career as the 2nd option next to guys like LeBron and Melo, winning often. Was an elite shooter, one of the best in EBL history. A very underrated scorer who manages to remain in the top 100 all time despite not playing since 2024. A great ball handler for a SG.

The case against Marcus Thornton: Was always an average defender at best. Never led a team as the No.1 guy. Didn't play as long as the other guys on this list.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Christian Neudorf

http://www.mchlclrk.com/old_ebl/2053/players/player589.htm

Career stats: 26649 points (50th), 14439 rebounds (17th), 9855 FGs (54th), 6303 FTs (6th), 830 double doubles (7th)

The case for Christian Neudorf: One of the best scoring bigs in EBL history. He is behind only Derrick Favors, Kenneth Nishida & David Guth in terms of points among big men all time. Had 11 straight seasons of 20+ PPG, including 3 over 25. He was a very good and often overlooked rebounder, averaging double figure rebounds every season of his career except for his first and last. Solid 3pt shooter much of his career. Was either the best or one of the best big men in EBL during his prime years.

The case against Christian Neudorf: Was often a mediocre defender, at best. Never won a title or even made the finals. Averaged more career TOPG than APG.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Vote Tally

Christian Neudorf: 9
Alex Lo: 8
Josh Tanner: 3
Tony Ross: 2
Dave Merchado: 1
Marcus Thornton: 1

Tough one this year, but I have to go with Alex Lo. Mainly because it's his last year, and he was a special player on defense.

This is tough, because while all of them were good players, none of them feel like great, all time players. There is one that is pretty close though.

I'm going to vote Christian Neudorf.

Christian Neudorf

It's close, but Neudorf was one of the few elite scoring big men in the entire history of EBL and also contributed on the glass. Fransisco Page, a player with a similar career path got my vote before, and Neudorf eclipsed his numbers. As Mofo said, his rebounding numbers were a little underrated as well. Shame he didn't win more, but that's hardly all on him.
