Please keep all the forum rules in mind when you are collaborating with each other.
Respect goes a long way. It also makes lovely work.

// Guide to collabs //

BEFORE YOU OPEN A COLLAB, please please please (I can't stress this enough)
have an instrumental or a decent quality vocal-cut/less-vocal to work with.

If you don't know where to find one, check youtube or PM notochrasy and she may be able to help you.

Like most forums we will work on an auditioning system.
The member that opens the collab will be the collab leader and will dictate their own rules as long as they do not conflict with forum rules.
When these collabs start off, they will be tagged with [COLLAB OPEN]
and they will be posted in the Special Stages.
When auditions close please change the tag to just [COLLAB]

In the post please include
- what song you have chosen
- download link of the song,
- color-coded lyrics (on the page or hosted on google documents)
- singing parts available
- the audition form.
If you cannot mix the song, please request a mixer in your post somewhere.
Be sure to make it clear what the dates are in terms of auditions closing and submission of parts deadline

Audition form:
Code:

[SIZE=4][font=Georgia][b]Audition[/b][/SIZE][/font]
[b]Username: [/b]
[b]Preferred name: [/b]
[b]Part(s) I would like: [/b]
[b]Audition clip(s): [/b]
[b]Comments: [/b]

Please respect collab leader, even if they don't pick you to be apart of the collab.
There's always next time (;

Don't like the audition system?
Feel free to contact other members and put together a collab privately.
When you have the collab members settled, post all the details in the Special Stages, tagged as just [COLLAB]

In the post please include
- what song you have chosen
- download link of the song
- color-coded lyrics (on the page or hosted on google documents)
- who's taking what parts
If you cannot mix the song, please request a mixer in your post somewhere.

When the parts have been chosen and finalized, what happens?
- After the collab leader chooses the people he/she wants in the collab,
then please notify the selected member through the PM system
and then update the first post with who is taking who.
- Please include the deadline you want to have the parts in by!

How to record?
- Most of us like to use a program called Audacity to record, download here
- You'll also need Lame MP3 encoder to be able to export in mp3.
- When you're recording, please listen to the original track through earphones so you get the timing right (:
Silent the recording track where you don't sing to save unnecessary data from being collected.
- Then export, upload to box.net or 4shared or mediafile or whatever and then either post in the thread of the collab or PM the project leader.

What to do when you're finished?
After you've got all the singing parts in, and you've finished mixing,
upload the final song as an mp3 file to box.net or 4shared.com, these sites allow streaming of audio.
Or if you want, upload it onto youtube with a video.

Post the links in the original post and change the topic title tag to [COLLAB DONE]

And most importantly, HAVE FUN GUYS.
